This is my favorite Thai place in the valley! I bring all my friends here and I am so glad I found this gem! Some of my friends had never had thai food before and they love it too! My favorite dish is the chimes broccoli w/ crispy pork. The crispy pork is both, crispy and soft. So essentially, the perfect blend. Other places have it too hard where it's overly crispy or so soft that it's not crispy at all. This place is consistent, so kudos to the chef! I also recommend, the crab fried rice, spicy basil, veggie Tom kha and the pork jerky. They can also make it spicy, like Thai level spicy which is perfect for me! They do run out of it some what frequently as I think it's one of the best sellers, so I call ahead just to make sure. The owner is very nice and the staff are attentive, helpful, and a lot friendlier than most Thai places. Come here, you won't regret it! read more

Very very cute spot. Papaya salad was completely 10/10. Very authentic, not to fishy, good garlic and fresh. Got medium spice and it was perfect for us (we like spicy), I couldn't done more spicy but I enjoyed a lot. Got tofu pad Thai and it was a bit mushy but it was take out, maybe better in person but I'd give pad Thai 7.5/10. I'll have to try again and sit down. read more

I hate to rain on Khao Soi Thai's parade, but I had a very mediocre experience here at best. How this restaurant floats between 4.5-5 stars is beyond me. Perhaps they have gotten their act together since my last visit, but my one and only trip here was nothing short of a nightmare. I must have come on a VERY off day. Came here several months ago after seeing it pop up on Yelp with great reviews. I believe it had just been open for a month or so at the time. Located off Ventura Blvd, the location is great. I walked here, so parking was not a problem for me. The food was good, and I thought the prices were pretty standard. The quantity was pretty disappointing, however. It was not substantial at all. Although the prices weren't outrageous, I left feeling ripped off because it didn't fill me. I probably ordered the wrong thing. My main problem I had with this place though was the service. It literally took an hour from the time we ordered to the time we received our food. We had come on a Friday night, and the place was not overly crowded by any means. I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but they were not prepared. We weren't the only ones with this problem, either. I saw one guy screaming at the worker about his to-go order. After he had enough, he just stormed off and said forget about it. I was close to doing the same, though I felt bad because the workers here did seem nice. Bottom line: We had places to be, and this restaurant did not deliver. An hour wait is not acceptable. I was not impressed by the situation whatsoever. I vowed to never come back at the time because I was so irate, but after seeing everyone else's great experiences here, maybe it would be worthwhile. Until then, my review stays. read more

Yelp brought me to this restaurant and I was quite surprised at how many good reviews they had after I tried their food. I ordered their pad thai with tofu and no bean sprouts. I'm happy that the chef did follow my instructions, I've had experiences where the restaurant didn't listen to me. Their pad thai tasted very Americanized. Probably one of the most Americanized I've had in a long long time. Also, the service was kind of slow, I saw several people in the kitchen but I think the server was also given other tasks which made it kind of hard to flag her down. Sorry, not worthy of the rave I saw on yelp. The food is just average. I've had better Thai food in Long Beach and Torrance area. I drove 20 miles to try this place, based on friend's recommendations. Not worth the drive. The only dish I thought was decent was the duck curry. It had a nice coconut flavor and a nice spiciness to it, served with rice it was worthy of 4 stars. The chicken larb was also good but would have preferred it served with the lettuce on the side. The juices made the salad too soggy for me, but the flavor was good. The rest of the meal was average. Service was good, parking is a challenge. read more

One LA's best Thai restaurant. Khao Soi specializes in the cuisine of Northern Thailand, most Thai restaurants in LA serve Southern Thai They have all the regular Thai hits and all are great. However your doing a disservice if you don't try the following Khao Soul- their namesake dish. A curry soup with noodles. I've had with chicken and crab and both are awesome. Kua Gai- noodles- very flavorful and unique. Try them if you love noodles. Ginger Fish- lightly fried filet of sole in a ginger sauce with veggies Thai Issan sausages- so friggen good Other great dishes Pad Thai Tom Ka soup Pad gra pow I have not tried anything bad here. Almost a year later since they opened & I'm still enjoying my yummy Khao Soi from my favorite Thai restaurant in Studio City. Service is still great and the food at a great price. They deliver if you can't get to them. Love that this great, freshly made, seasoned perfectly, Thai Cuisine, opened right next door to where I work. They even bring your order on a plate or bowl to my clients when they are having there hair done. Much nicer than those plastic or paper containers. It's truly delicious.... The amount of noodles were too little imo though, because I finished it with a lot of leftover soup. I hate wasting good food so I took it home haha. Love the lime and little garnishes provided for this. Spicy egg plant was also really good and crunchy, this is spicy--although we got the mild level, my bf was sweating bullets lol. |[ v e r d i c t ]| All of the staff were great and came back often to check on us. They did forget to bring the lemons we asked for but we didn't bother asking a second time since we were in a bit of a rush. This place was amazing! Started with Fried Shrinp balls which come with a sweet sauce. These were very tasty, I would order again. We also ordered the chicken satay and that was cooked perfectly. I liked their peanut sauce and the cucumber salad. The highlight for me was the massaman curry (peanut curry with potato). Not every Thai restaurant makes this dish, so I was happy when I saw it on the menu as it's one of my favorite dishes. This has to be one of, if not THE best massaman curry I've ever had. Really really really good. Had the Khao Soi and it was so rich and flavorful. It's pretty good size to share but next time I'm getting one for myself only! I also tried the Cashew Nut Chicken and I got to tell you it was the best one I have had EVER. The sauce was so good I had to just eat the sauce with the rice it comes with. How did it take me so long to discover/try this place? It's tucked away in a plaza so I have never noticed it though I drive by it allll the time. Everything, and I will repeat that, EVERYTHING I got was delicious and flavorful. To start off, I got the Khao Soi soup. Amazing choice! Highly recommended. Bottom Line: This place has to be in one of my top places for Thai in LA, and I'm so serious. Go here!!! I am so glad I did. Food: Absolutely delicious. Everything is extremely fresh and the flavors are bold. The dishes come together so nicely- I was pleasantly surprised. OH and the lemongrass drink is divine. Love it!! -Spicy Basil over Rice (with ground pork and pan-fried egg) is so delicious! I loved the flavors of the basil and spices mixed into the ground pork and sauce. The pieces of green beans gave it a nice crunch and texture. The egg was perfectly done! I devoured the whole dish! Drink: -Thai iced tea is perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. They use natural pandan leaves to sweeten their Thai iced tea. Parking: Free parking in the plaza. Spots in front are small and cramped and limited to 20 min. Just a meh to me. All the dishes were very salty and lacking the flavors I expected. there was no depth to the soups or sauces. Best dish was the drunken noodles. Usually Thai food has a distinct peanut/coconut flavor that is upfront with some lemongrass as well. The dishes we had were lacking that. Service was good and polite. It all started 3 years ago in Bamboo Nest de Chiang Rai. The owner of Bamboo Nest served up the most aromatic, saporous curry noodles I had ever tasted in my entire life. It felt like new life was being breathed into my soul. What was this delectable curry creation? Khao soi. Ever since, I have been searching far and wide for authentic Northern Thai cuisine in the States just to feel something again. Flash forward to today. I stumbled upon Khao Soi Thai on accident while searching up khao soi recipes. I knew I had to order takeout immediately--to see if this restaurant could fill the void Bamboo Nest left in my heart and stomach. And oh boy...oh boy. Let me tell you KHAO SOI THAI DID NOT COME TO PLAY! This....this is it. I literally hauled ass 20 miles across the greater Los Angeles area to get this Thai food and I will do it again. Other Thai restaurants' food could be like distant cousins at best with real deal Thai food, but the food here is like at least sisters with the food I had in Thailand. The khao soi is sooooo good. So much flavor but so light and thin mmMMMm I literally drank it from the bowl like it's chicken soup. Medium spicy gives you a little kick. Also they give you so much curry they really do not hold back. The spicy fried rice was so flavorful and had a bite to it. I'm not really into vegetables (sorry I'm picky...sue me) but my mom and sister said the papaya salad was the bomb.com and so refreshing. The chicken satay looks flat af so I was expecting it to be dry since they were skinniiii but they were SO tender and flavorful--cooked to perfection! Definitely one of the better chicken satays I've had in LA. And the mango and sticky rice was delectable. Their mango is soso sweet and their sticky rice came shaped in a little heart which made me feel loved. We're visiting from the Bay for spring break and needed a place for dinner on a Friday night with my family, we were seated right away. Their Khao Soi lured me into this little gem.... the flavors were amazing and to top it off their spicy fish sauce was the cherry on top of it all. We also had the beef laarb, perfect blend of lime & spice, their pad Thai was ok, noodles were a slightly undercooked. Fried chicken was moist and sooo crunchy!! Loved it. We also had the spicy fried rice and that was pretty good as well. All dishes were amazing and I'm So glad we stumbled upon here. Service was kinda slow but the servers were sooooo nice, very attentive and they even made conversations with us. We will definitely be coming back here when we visit. read more

I came here for the Khao Soi noodles and wasn't disappointed. This isn't a common dish to find on a menu here and I haven't had it since I was actually in Thailand three years ago. I ordered it with the crispy pork which was very tasty and I got an 8/9 level on the spiciness scale, which had a kick but was perfect for me, as I love spicy food. The noodles were perfect; they were chewy and bouncy and so good with the curry broth. The staff was super welcoming and I made conversation with the cashier about how rare it is to see this type of meal offered here and he was so nice that he gave me my Thai tea for free. I will definitely come back and try it again with crab meat, upon his recommendation. If you love Thai food and want to try a delicious and unique dish instead of the regular old Pad Thai then the trip out to the valley is definitely worth it! read more

Yes! Finally, great Thai in the valley! I came for the Khao Soi (can choose your protein and spice level) but I stayed for the crab fried rice, pad see ew, and spicy basil! The Khao Soi is incredibly flavorful and the flavor is thick (it's a curry)but the soup is light and doesn't leave me feeling overly stuffed. The noodles are thick and LONG (I keep forgetting to ask for a knife - probably a faux paux) to cut the noodles... necessary when sharing the dish, which I highly recommend. Crab Fried rice was delicious and the spicy basil (with pork) had me spooning in more before I even finished my first bite. I can't explain the flavors other than a must-try-for-yourself. They have indoor as well as a cute outdoor, patio seating area- if the weather permits (ha- it's LA, aka always prime weather) and there's open seats I highly suggest sitting outside. It's prime location on Ventura Blvd. but hidden in the shopping center where Peets coffee/Chin Chins is. Don't let the hidden gem aspect deter you, there's underground parking at the end of the alley. I haven't tried anything here I didn't like and I'm determined to try the whole menu over time. Along with serving delicious, authentic Thai cuisine, Eric the owner, is the absolute best. Willing to talk, share and answer any questions or concerns.
