I've eaten at this place frequently for the last few years.. it was the go-to when friends or family came by. We ate in, we took food out.. sometimes things were off --flavor / spice wise but we've let it slide.. and then this happens: My last order (3 out of 4 items) just tasted.. really really bad -- two soups we ordered were supposed to have been spicy - they were less than mild.. essentially it was hot fish sauce soup with shrimp, two huge slices of tomato and few mushrooms.. Green Curry was missing .. curry? plenty of stuff.. but there was no taste at all..and also no spice to it... I basically thought - hey, stuff happens, kitchen staff like everyone else could have had a crappy day.. maybe someone forgot to go buy something. I called and talked to a guy at the restaurant and told him about the dishes, at first he asks.. "so what do you want?" caught a bit off guard.. I explained again what was wrong with the dishes and said I would like a credit.. I am pretty far away at this point.. he said "ok no problem" and that was it.. Today I called, trying to use that credit.. I talked to one person, he didn't know how to do credits so transferred me to a woman/mgr maybe an owner.. and when I told her that I'd like to use my credit, she said she knew nothing about it.. and ended up calling person w. whom i spoke initially. Few min later comes back on the phone: "he says he told you that credit was for only one soup not three items" -- which is not at all what we talked about.. at this point she starts getting this mad "how dare I want credit for their screw up" tone.. I tried explaining again that no I don't want credit for my entire order just for items that were (bad)... 5 min later.. and pretty fired up at this point, she stars to write down my order but doesn't let me place an order for additional items which I said I will pay for .. and her reason is -- "because I might complain"... what in the.... YEARS we've been coming here and never complained even though it's not the only time they've screwed up on taste.. and we've let it go... smh the nerve on her.. after all that nonsense no way I would trust to eat something from her at this point. called back, cancelled my order.. called credit card company and filed a dispute. I hate to say it but I will not come here again as long as the same people are running the place. We all can have a bad day but it's how we deal with it. huge communication barrier on her part prob had something to do with frustration as well... even though other people who work there - zero problems in that area (maybe let them manage the place). Just sucks everything turned out the way it did. If you feel like rolling the dice on this spot .. prob just stick to Khao Soi.. dish is pretty solid.. if you're getting it to go and ask for Thai Spicy/Spicy.. check it before taking it home.. read more

Came here with my family of 5 during this covid pandemic for the very first time and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food extremely tasty, the staff was absolutely amazing as well. As someone who's very particular when it comes to Thai food, I've got to say this place is as authentic as it gets. I highly recommend their basil stir fry dishes (the crispy pork in particular). First thing was the pricing on their printed menu's at the counter were different from what they charged me. I was told they were forced to adjust their prices after COVID, which I totally understand. But charging people a higher price without explaining it is gonna leave people with a bad taste in their mouth. But this rating isn't about the pricing. It's about the food. I ordered two items, pad "c-ew" and yellow curry. THE PAD "C EW" IS DELICIOUS. The Yellow Curry left little to be desired. It was very watery. So much so that when I poured it on my rice, it just ran to the bottom of the plate and pooled up in the corner. It was so runny that the rice didn't have any time to soak it up. They are open for patio seating right now and it has been our first meal out for my husband and I and they serve and paper plates for safety for us all and it was so good to be back starting my local Thai restaurant and take a break from cooking! I was craving the khao soi soup and fried chicken !! They are such a sweet family who are on it and I am happy to continuously support them as I know they will keep the quality going!!! My friend and I came here for dinner to try a few things. I always see this place when looking for lunch delivery from work, but always end up ordering something else. We got tons of things, like Khao Soi(how could you not), green beans, Thai fried chicken, crab fried rice, and Thai sausage. Everything we had was so good!! I dipped the fried chicken in the soup of the khao Soi and I highly recommend that! So good! Collectively we thought the Thai sausage was so good and something we never had before! Can't wait to go back! I would also try the lemgrasss tea. It's yummy! Very unexpected, but very delicious. It's fresh and a bit sweet. Kind of like winter melon drink but with a kick. Parking: there's an attached garage and parking in front. It's kind of tricky to find, but go under the Wine sign. Khao has become our new favorite restaurant. although we have our normal favorites, every dish we have eaten here is simply wonderful. A level 3 or 4 spice level for us id just right while level 5 is definitly for the advanced diner. I recently ordered on Saturday night for pickup. I placed the order at 6:30pm to which they said it would take 40 minutes for pickup. I arrived at 7:10pm expecting a short wait for my order to be packed up. I didn't leave the restaurant until 8pm. So why am I still giving a 5 star review? Because nobody is perfect. I've been lucky to get my food super quickly previously, but since they opened outdoor dining, and are the #1 thai food spot in Studio City, they were getting a TON of orders. Every 5 minutes a delivery driver or pickup up person was coming into the restaurant. I truly felt bad for them because they can only scale up so much for demand. All that matters here is the food came out SUPERB quality. I was concerned with their influx of orders that they would get flustered and mess up the order or cut corners on quality. They executed the food perfectly and packed up my order exactly as I placed it. Great work Khao Soi. Please don't ever change! I have been coming here at least every other week for three years . The quality of the food plummeted when Eric sold the business. Also, the prices went up! There are two different prices on the menu inside the restaurant. The takeout menu has one price, the grimy laminated menus another. Huh? Today was my fourth time there since the change in ownership. Business was slow but the waitstaff took forever to take my order then got it wrong. I ordered the sea food curry, which was horrible. Actually inedible. They now charge $4 for a scoop of brown rice. Ridiculous. I saw them carting my scoop around in a plastic bag then nuking it at the counter, which explains the odd taste. What a shame that the new owner isn't there to oversee her staff who were quickly overwhelmed with just three people in the restaurant. Not particularly friendly or competent. Just a mess. For a Thai restaurant that isn't in Thai town or No Ho, this place is pretty good. They specialize in a lot of Northern Thai dishes, but I wasn't thrilled with my Khao Soi. Delicious, certainly. I ordered mine with crab and the crab was the best choice in my humble opinion. My big issues with my soup though was that it wasn't very hot when it came to me. I need my soups hot. Veggie egg rolls were good, don't forget to check in cause you will get them on the house if you drop $40. Coconut ice cream was too icy (not the way it should be) and the fried chicken was too dry. This place has such a cute outdoor seating area ! Makes it a perfect dining place on a cool night. The servers were also super friendly and joked around with us! They constantly kept our cups filled with water which is nice because some of our dishes were quite spicy! The dish that really amazed me was the fried chicken! I know, it's super weird to be ordering fried chicken at a Thai restaurant but we saw another table order it and it looked bomb! We had to get it, and it's made really well. It had a nice crunch to it and the perfect amount of breading. It came with sweet and sour sauce which gives a twist to the flavor of the chicken. And the inside was juicy and tender. The crab fried rice was pretty good and plentiful. We ordered 5 dishes for a party of 5 and still had some food packed to-go, so the portions are pretty generous. Ordered very clearly and specifically the veggie soup and it came with shrimp... they realized the mistake and take it back to make a new one but bring the same bowl 5 minutes later with the shrimp removed... the broth severely tasted like shrimp... We use to like this place a lot. Go or pick up multiple times. Haven't gone recently and decided to order take out today. The food was completely wrong. I don't know if the ownership has changed or what but it was a terrible experience. We ordered the spicy fried rice(no basil or tomatoes) and pad Thai. Both dishes came with so much cabbage in them. It literally took up half the to go box. I called to tell them only to get yelled at saying that I didn't say no cabbage. The menu description of the 2 things we ordered doesn't have cabbage listed so why would I say no cabbage. Logic? I've never been yelled at by a restaurant like that. Never will we go back. Paid for nothing tonight. I just received a response from the restaurant owner saying it's been this way since 2016. We have eaten at this restaurant countless times and this has never happened. So Nicky, please don't lie to me. We have never seen this and we always get no meat! And I was yelled at not because it was loud because whoever on the phone was a rude person. There are so many Thai restaurants in this area, but this one really stands out. You can't quite compare it to the Americanized Thai fast-food. The food is authentic, delicious, unique. I crave it independently from your run-of-the-mill pad thai that you might get from a fast food place. The different curries here will blow you away. My go-to is the panang curry - to die for! If you like spicy they don't mess around, you pick your heat level on a 0-10 scale and its "Thai spicy, not american spicy" as the owner puts it. My friends and I were looking for a Thai place for takeout while we watched a television season finale in the evening. We were between a few place, but I've wanted to try this place ever since I got back from Thailand as I traveled to Ching Mai, northern Thailand, whose staple dish is Khao Soi. I've been craving Khao soi since getting back and I figured I had to try this place since the dish was on its restaurant name. I'll say that this place did not disappoint. We got the Basil Beef over Rice with the fried egg, Yellow curry, pad see ew, and of course, the Khao soi. Everything tasted AMAZING and was plenty to feed the four of us. I will say the Khao soi was good. Not as good as the one straight out of Thailand but still comparably delicious. I think my favorite dish might've been the basil beef with rice and the fried egg. It was so simple yet delicious! We also got Thai iced teas which were SO yummy. I can't say much about the customer service since we did not dine in but the food did not disappoint and really hit the spot since we were craving Thai. Overall, I'd recommend and come back! I discovered Khao Soi Thai November last year during my yelping adventure! I've been back here twice since discovering it! When you have an abundance of options for Thai restaurants, you definitely try to look for something special and Khao Soi Thai doesn't disappoint. I've had the Khao Soi, Stir Fried Crab in Curry Powder, Larb Salad, Spicy Basil Over Rice, Spicy Chicken Wing, and the Spicy Eggplant Over Rice-all of which have been scrumptious. I definitely would say this is one of my new favorite Thai restaurants and plan on coming back. The venue isn't too big so you might have to wait but it's worth it. I really liked how the restaurant accommodated for our dietary requirements. We have cholesterol, gluten free and high sodium health issue which makes it a challenge to eat out. Khao Soi was very good about switching out the gluten added soy sauce with gluten free sauces. They also reduced the sodium content by adding a reduced amount of sauces to all our meals. Small and warm restaurant hidden in a roll of stores in a strip mall. Parking can be a challenge. Will try this place out again read more

This place has recently became my most fave Thai place in the valley. HANDS DOWN. The first time we went here, the manager explained to us their best sellers and we tried them all lol. Then we went back the following week to try some other yummy items. If this is your first time there, definitely try the khaosoi (we ordered it with duck, high HIGHLY recommended!) and also the famous fried chicken (oh my! the portion is huge!). Other yummy stuffs include: the thai basil with rice, crab fried rice and kua gai noodles (kinda like pad see ew but with super light soy sauce). This place is definitely one of the best Thai place I've ever been. All the staffs are so friendly and parking lot is spacious. Can't wait to come back and try other stuffs (maybe get the sweet roti since they were sold-out last time we were there, sadly). What a delicious place! :) read more
