Came in on a Thursday night with a couple of friends to grab a beer while we wait for a dinner reservation nearby. Super neat bar, I love the ambiance. The place wasn't busy at all around 7pm, but a lot more people started to show up as we were about to leave. Bartender was very friendly and came over to help us really quickly. The couches/seats were very comfortable, that I honestly didn't even want to leave and skip dinner for some more drinks haha. Cool spot, that has a dive bar feel about it. I literally never review places, but I am so annoyed after my experience last night. My husband and I wanted to have a drink after dinner, so we headed to Khartoum (which he had a great time at on Halloween) and the security guy was a jerk. He looked at my CA Real ID and wouldn't let me in because the photo looked "photoshopped". It makes absolutely no sense that I was denied because he didn't like the way my photo looked. Been here several times in the past few years. It's a very popular night club in Campbell. They're typically open when everybody else on the strip is closing down, so it's a nice place to keep the party going if you aren't interested in going home just yet. I'm not a fan of loud, crowded bars, and this place fits that description perfectly. It's nice during the afternoon/early evening, when you can have a drink, find a nice seat (they have some very comfy couches), and have a conversation, but later at night, it's very crowded and loud. Some neat stained glass art work at the top of the walls, but nothing else really stands out. Not my first choice when looking to go out at night, but it might be right up the alley for someone looking to fight for attention from the bartender for 10 minutes to get a beer, then have to yell at the top of their lungs to talk to somebody standing right next to then. As a bartender I know what drink are supposed to taste like and of the two drinks I ordered they were very off. The decorations and music is chill but when I tried to play some music like bad bunny or grupo frontera it was banned. Several Latin artists were actually banned. I don't know why, but every time my friends and I go out, we always end at Khartoum! If you come earlier in the evening, it's a really fun place to chill on the couches, play darts and chat. Once it's later in the evening, they begin playing music and it gets a little more busy. I wouldn't call this a dance club, but people still do dance! The drinks are good and reasonably priced and everyone seems to be pretty friendly! The only reason that I'm giving it 4 stars is because the music that they play is pretty weird... it just doesn't have any theme! You may have a modern pop song mixed with something that hasn't been played since the 80's. read more

A great Cheers-y kind of place, very pretty / dark / atmospheric. A lot of comfy couches tucked away, as well as leather... thrones?? I don't know how else to describe them. A very odd assortment of decor that somehow makes the place endearing and interesting. They have a nice beer selection! I slurped down (a number between one and many), and enjoyed them immensely. They do karaoke, and we stumbled upon this place on karaoke night. Things got craaazy. I couldn't believe how many people packed in there. There was one great voice and a lot of terrible ones, but it was all awesome. If you like karaoke, or people-watching, definitely plan to hit this place up when it's going down. I like the variety of experiences you can get here... ranging from chill / laid-back / neighbourhood bar... to crazy hip karaoke spot packed with folks having a great time. I feel like regardless of which one you are looking for, you probably won't be disappointed... but the pro tip would be to check the schedule. If you're feeling like a party and come in when it's not happening you will be disappointed. And if you feel like a quiet relaxing downtempo spot and accidentally hit karaoke night you might get annoyed. My friends and I come here on occasion and I appreciate the free karaoke nights and the welcoming vibe. Did not appreciate the dudebro duo bartenders trying to be slick with their snickering when filling my glass with way too much ice and barely any alcohol. 10 bucks for a few actual sips of liquor aside, you're not fooling anyone with your little ice trick and come off as arrogant idiots for laughing amongst yourselves like you did. This is your perfect hometown neighborhood bar. Khartoum's has been there for me through the good times and bad, stretching for over a decade. Khartoum doesn't hold back on security. They have a full team and equipment to keep minors out. Too bad their security team acts unprofessionally. My friend made a joke about being uncomfortable and the head of security laid his hands on me. May it be playful, still unprofessional. Then you walk in. Immediately you notice the sticky floors. You can spend all the $$$ you want on security but can't afford a mop. The kicker is seeing that highly coveted security team flirt with the few female patrons present. read more

I feel that the bouncer is friendly, and he was chill. But the bartender Ester had a weird power-trip. Her tab was closed off by someone else, and her credit card was given to someone else, and instead of Ester apologizing, she started yelling at her and caused a huge scene, where Ester (female bartender), got everyone to yell at her and make her feel inferior. It's not a good look if you 1. Give someone else's credit card to the wrong person and then 2. Instead of apologizing and I asking accountability, blaming the customer and belittling them in front of everyone. This is a fun place to go to during COVID, but I highly recommend this place train their bartenders to have empathy and not overreact emotionally. You would think bartenders with experience would understand that people might be triggered easily. But then again, their emotional IQ is probably very low, which is why they react aggressively. Also the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. I would highly suggest that most of the bartenders and management should go through some "social skills" training. The assortment of mismatched but comfortable couches and chairs, and the with the rafters, table lamps, neon, and mirrors, this place reminds me of hanging out in someone's converted garage, in a good way. It's like a lounge in a garage, but the wood and vaulted ceiling gives it the feel of a ski lodge and the stained glass lamps feels like a pizza parlour little leagues went to in the late 70s. We got there at the changing of the guard, so we had two different experiences. Before 9:30 on a Saturday, the place was chill, and full of 30-50 year olds, and the music (90's-heavy tonight w/ Ben Folds, Blink 182, NIN, Matthew Sweet) was wondrously at a volume where you could hear both the music and other people, except for the booming bass. By 9:30 the tables were moved for the kids who came in thirsty from their busy days of hunting Pokemon and flipping water bottles. If I could give 0 stars I would. Bouncer was a jerk. He took someone's real ID from them who was clearly 21 and made them call the cops to get it back. I was denied entrance because apparently I "Gave the bouncer attitude" he proceeded to tell me to go F myself, and then tried to get me to fight him and told me to hit him while being 6 inches from my face. I am of age, I was not drinking, I was the driver. Check the bouncers, because on. 12/19/22 this was by far the worst treatment I have received from a bouncer and i've been to bars across the US. I came here for my only SV beer week event. At first glance when you see the name, you might think to yourself, "This doesn't sound like a bar...it sounds like a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant." Also the location is a bit elusive as it is on the outskirts of the downtown Campbell restaurant row. This seems to me like a comfy locals bar. It's fairly large with high ceilings and it could hold a lot of people. Since they are associated with beer week, they had not only their regular beer selection outside but the featured brewery was pouring in the backroom. I took a seat in that backroom as the main room was much too loud and when karaoke got started around the 10pm hour, it even got louder. I have to admit that public karaoke has never been my thing but I heard some very high spirited singing despite being in the next room. All in all, a nice place that I wouldn't mind coming back to for a future beer week tap takeover but not a place in my rotation as of yet. read more

I've visited Khartoum three times now. Ordinarily I have a great time here, I think the space is amazing. They have shuffle board and darts in the back. Dance area. Good music that's not deafeningly loud. Water and water cups that are self serve all around the bar. Lounge space. Really the makings for any great night out. The bar itself is amazing. Unfortunately I simply cannot give this place a higher rating because of the staff there. See attached picture of the bouncer/"security" personnel at the door who selectively chooses which rules to enforce in order to restrict entry as he sees fit. The situation here is: My group of 6 attended Khartoum. Stood in line and when we got to the front. Several members of my group were allowed in. Two of whom were wearing tank tops (this will become significant momentarily). However as the remaining few of us attempted to walk in, he restricted entry to one of the trans members of our group. Conveniently enforcing the "rule" that "GUYS can't wear tank tops". At this point, I'd like to remind everyone that several other members of our group, and a few other visible bar patrons were already present in the bar with tank tops on. His sentiment that "that's the rule. That's how it's always been for 18 years" was backed by a pretty iron clad defense. 1) He had no policy or rule posting to show us to prove this rule. 2) He claimed there was no manager on duty and told us to come back later. 3) He would not give us his name. If Khartoum's "rule" is that the staff selectively enforces policy to restrict access to members of the community as they see fit. I'm afraid I need to stop giving them my business. I wish I didn't need to, but it's a matter of principle. "Security" personnel don't get to pick and choose the rules they enforce for their own whim and benefit. But, seriously, this place has such a dive bar atmosphere - jeans are perfectly fine and as long as you don't come in pajamas, you'll basically get it. Or do come in your jammies as a fun little experiment! Parking: So PSA (Parking Service Announcement.) If it is raining, do not park on the main street of Downtown Campbell. You will not be happy. We were not happy. This place and a few others are a bit off the main street with their own parking lot. Anyway, not as much of a dancing place. More a sit and chat, but it does get super loud in there. Service will come around and ask you if you want anything. The drinks are strong. Look up the word "strong" and you will find it in almost every review. I'm talking S-T-R-O-N-G. No joke. The bar reminds me of something out of a cliche teen movie with people singing loudly some oldies (songs). Dress?...more like overdressed. If you want to be #classy, this isn't your place. Wow, this place was packed when I went there on a Thursday and Friday. Not so much on a Sunday night. I've been to this bar three times now. When I went on a Thursday and Friday, the line to get in was out the door and there was actually a wait. One of those nights was even karaoke night - how fun! The dress code isn't too strict here. I've seen girls come in wearing yoga pants actually. The atmosphere is very chill and feels more like a social mixer than a dance club. There is plenty of seating throughout the bar which is one of my favorite things about this place. The couches are quite comfy. There is two bars: one in the front and one in the back where there are games you can play, such as darts. Overall I enjoy coming to this bar when I'm looking for a low key outing. read more

I totally forgot this place was here until my friend mentioned it. I've been looking for a place that's laid back where I can hang out & talk to friends, so can't be too loud! On weekend nights, it seems like all the other places in downtown Campbell are too loud for that. So, I finally went to check it out. Like I mentioned, it's casual/ laid-back/relaxed. You can actually hang out & converse. There's a jukebox playing music, but at a decent volume. While I was there, it played lots of stuff I grew up with. You can sit at the bar, tables & chairs, or some sofas with coffee tables (like your own living room!). They also had a pair of wing chairs facing each other (I like those type of chairs, so that's why I noticed). A server that comes around to take your drink order, so you don't have to go up to the bar to get a drink. She was really nice, would check back & make sure we didn't need anything else. Oh yeah, & I got carded...well, yes, I look young, but I'm more than 10 years out of college! I'll take it as a compliment, then, & here's hoping to be carded when I'm in my 40s! ;-) They have pear cider there, which was really good. I forget which brand. I really don't care for beer, so I like having other options for drinks. Interesting decor, with various animal heads mounted on the wall, lit up stained glass of various landscapes lining the tops of 2 walls, and the tulip lamps. I noticed there was darts on one side, & I think a foosball table too...didn't wander over that far, so can't comment in detail. This may just become my hang out place if I'm going to hang out close to home! It's located on the south side of Orchard City Dr. near the VTA station, in a building with a Japanese restaurant & a bunch of offices. Last time I came here was not a good experience. Lowkey felt racial profiling/racism going on. My friend and I were some of the ONLY people of color in line. Once we got inside I literally felt like I was at a HIGH SCHOOL REUNION. There was some girls inside that CLEARLY LOOKED UNDERAGE! One of them was talking to security and trying to get people kicked out like girl YOU are not even supposed to be here LMAO. Security was rude as hell and tried to make me and my friend get in line alllll over again after being in a long ass line for 45 minutes to an hour already. If you are white underage drunker or 21 or close to that age and white/light skinned this is probably your place. If you are a person of color who doesn't barely look legal you should probably go somewhere else. read more

Definitely a fan... this is probably best bar in downtown Campbell and folks, this is hardly a dive. It's too big and too clean. Trust me. If you want a real dive, I can show you a few. Love this place! The crowd and bartenders are very friendly. On Thursdays, they have karaoke night and it's fun to watch people sing their hearts out. There are very talented singers that come to this place. If you enjoy playing shuffleboard, you'll be glad to know that they have on by the back bar.
