I have been coming here for over 5 years and I cannot stop coming back. I moved to natomas this last year so I haven't been there in a very long time. I finally decided to take my boyfriend there, we are both chefs who absolutely LOVE Thai food. The meal that we had literally moved him to tears. We had the appetizer platter and subbed out the tofu for the curry bites. Phenomenal. The only thing I could say that could change is the chicken satay, it could use a little more seasoning. He got the drunken noodle and I got the sun dried beef. The beef melted in your mouth. It was that good. (Send me the recipe if you're reading this, I'll take it to the grave). My boyfriend said in reference to his pad ke mou,"Its like snoop dog riding a joint. You know you're going to have fun with that shit". He was talking about the noodles. Typically the noodles are a vehicle for flavors. In this case, the noodles were filled with flavor. We were so moved by our meal we asked to speak with the chef. First off I want to start by saying how friendly the staff is here. They even seemed to know most of the customers coming in. I walked in and was nicely greeted and seated. The nice woman took my order and when I asked if I could redeem my YELP check in, she gladly said of course! The Yelp check in offer was any non alcoholic beverage with order of an entree. What I deal! I ordered theThai coffee. Then I went on to order the STUFFED chicken wings. Man were they stuffed with some good stuff. Then I ordered the Pad Thai. The Pad Thai was decent in portion size but very lacking in flavor. I would not recommend that dish at all. The star of the meal was the stuffed chicken wings though! Those were probably the best I've had at any Thai restaurant that I've been to. I will come back to try some of their other dishes. I can't let one dish, especially pad thai ruin my experience and potential return to this eatery. The prices are very reasonable. Winter is coming up and they have many noodle soup entrees. The Mango sticky rice was delicious. The yellow curry was also good. I ordered it with no spice but it was still pretty spicy for me because I dont eat spicy hot food. I didn't think curry could really be made with no spice but they offered it that way so I got excited and decided to try it. But it was way too hot for me. The fried tofu should be take off of the menu so they can practice making it a lot better. Just that alone makes me not want to order from here again. I order fried tofu quite frequently from other restaurants and I have never seen it so dry and hard. I was disappointed in the tofu from the moment I opened the container. I am curious as to how it came out so dry, hard and brown. Its supposed to still be white (like it is in the package) and moist with a light, tempura colored, batter. read more

This place was quite good! The food was good, the place was cute, the location was central, and the service was fast! Location: located in one of the many shopping malls on Douglas, it was kind of hard to find as it was tucked away in the corner and facing a side street. Once it was found, we walked in and the inside was SMALL. but it was so cute! they really maximized their space and it seems like it is mainly a takeout place anyways because many people came in and out with takeout. Service: the Waitress was so sweet. a bit quiet, but I don't want a chatter box waitress anyways. They took the time to have cute paper flowers on all the straws, and my water was always full. The food came out right away, and she was prompt with our check at the end of the night. Food: For appetizers I ordered the chicken satay and the shrimp rolls, both i would recommend. the sauces on both dishes were spot on and very traditional thai. The helpings were plentiful, and the chicken was well cooked and seasoned. the Pad Thai was solid. very well done and there was a lot of it! I ended up having left overs and it even tasted good reheated the next day! the Pad See Ew wasn't the best and I probably wouldn't order again. It was a bit bland for my taste, but its all about the Pad Thai anyways right? The spicy Thai Prawns was sooo good! Now that is the dish to get, i only wish i had more! but thats okay, it was so worth it! The shrimps were huge, and the spiciness was the perfect amount when ordered medium. Finishing off dinner with the Mango Sticky Rice of course! It was wonderful, its hard to go wrong with this dessert, but it was the perfect amount of sweet and tart. If you are a delivery driver avoid this place! It doesn't matter how polite you are the staff is extremely rude, the food is never ready on time and I mean never. I asked to use the restroom and I was told we do not let delivery drivers use the restroom even though they are doing in-house dining. I just wanted to wash my hands (during a pandemic!) Before handling the delivery. After several pickup attempts here I have finally put them on my ban list. Seriously you'll have nothing but problems at this location. Worst management ever! read more

So this place wasn't our first choice, but it was a good one. I had my usual Thai iced tea which at this place was pretty big. I shared an order of pad Thai which was great as well. The noodles were just how I liked them, not mushy, and had a good flavor. Another thing that does it for me at Thai restaurants is their sticky rice and mango!!! good god I could eat that everyday. Unfortunately, this order didn't do much for me. The mango was good, but the rice was too dry, it could have used more of the coconut mix on it. But, I still ate it. The restaurant is pretty small and the service was great. This really nice older woman was our server and was just really sweet asking me if I liked everything and if it was my first time eating Thai food. Another Thai restaurant to cross out on my "To Try" list and yet another I leave with great disappointment. After reading the great YELP reviews, we decided to try lunch with the family. Here is my honest evaluation based on the food we order. Pad-thai - Too wet, too soggy, too sweet. too red. I was unable to finish it. It was sauteed with bean sprouts, chicken and shrimp but really lacked the perfect combination of flavor this dish calls for. Pad sa-ew - Too soggy, and lacked the flavor we expected. The worse part, they added carrots.. why carrots? This dish never calls for carrots... my exact point about adding unnecessary fillers to Thai food to either gain more portion or "Americanize" it. Pad ke-maow (drunken noodles) - Too soggy, too sweet and probably the worse I have ever seen this dish prepared. There was bamboo shoots, mushrooms, eggplant, string beans. A simple dish that normally has only a few ingredients including basil was over done and really left us thinking if the cook even knew how to cook Thai food at all. OK the good parts: Great service, good iced coffee, good Tod-mun (fish cakes) and sticky rice. I really hate when yelp lets me down. I had such high expectations after seeing the reviews. The workers there are nice, I agree with that. The food was another story. I asked if the yellow curry was spicy. The lady assured me it was not. Unfortunately, all the kids could not eat it because they thought it was too spicy. When I tried it, it definitely had some spice to it. When I told her, she apologized and walked away. I would think that if I tell you the dish you said the kids could eat was not edible, you would offer me something else so they would not starve! Obviously this did not happen. They didn't eat much, as the pad see ew was very salty and oversauced. They loved the vanilla ice cream but didn't eat the fried bananas. There was too much breading, and I was honestly sitting there scratching my head wondering why people thought this dessert was so good. Dropped in to this little Thai spot for a quick bowl of my latest obsession, Tom Kra gai soup. Khun Suda is the next in a line of many Thai places I will be visiting to see how their own version stacks up against all others. The server was very nice and I told her immediately I wouldn't need a menu and that I would have a bowl of Tom-Kra-Gai soup, Thai spicy. She then said, "a 4 spicy?" I said, "No, a 10 spicy!" She said, "4 is the highest spice level." I said, "4 it is!" The soup was out within 10 minutes even with a busy lunch crowd and I immediately noticed the bowl size. It wasn't that it was small. It just wasn't the amount I have grown accostomed to when ordering soup from a Thai Restaurant. When I put my spoon into the bowl it was apparent that they did not skimp on the musrooms, onions or chicken, simply the broth it was served in. Personally, the broth is the main attraction for me and the more the better as far as I am concerned. Which brings me to the broth. I'll start with spice. I have learned not to judge the spice of a Thai soup until after I am at least a third of the way through as I have found most of the time it just takes a few moments for the heat to catch up to your nose and sinuses. This was not the case. The #4 level of spice was definitely not very spicy. Yes I did ask for a 10 spicey. On a scale of 1-10 this would still have been a 3. The flavor was good, but nothing special. With the amount of vegies and chicken in the bowl I suppose having less broth didn't turn out to be a bad thing after all. The soup was decent but that is all. Overall the service was fine and the soup was average. I can't judge the entire restaurant or menu on simply a soup experience, however, with the abundance of Thai places in this town I probably won't find a reason to stumble into this joint again. I decided to try this place after having driven by multiple times on our way home from Kaiser. My husband ordered the seafood dish w/shrimp and I ordered the Green Curry plate. The Green Curry was very good and had a lot of flavor except a little more chicken would have been even better. My husband said one of the shrimp was cold and was probably cooked from a frozen batch. But the thing that bothered me the most about this place was that there was an extra $2 charge which represented the two glasses of tap water that they brought to us after being seated. Super tasty and authentic Thai food. My boyfriend and I shared a Thai iced tea, a large chicken tom kha soup, curry potato puffs for appetizers, and pineapple fried rice with shrimps. Everything was amazing, super delicious. I would easily give 5 stars but this place is a little pricier than your average Thai restaurant. Overall, we walked super stuffed and satisfied. Went here on a whim. Driving home from Tahoe we hit serious traffic on I-80 in Roseville around dinner time. No brainer, we get off the road and decide to have some dinner while the traffic lightens up. Exit Douglas Blvd. and start to survey the scene. It's a busy boulevard so I knew I would find something (that wasn't a chain) and within a mile we find Khun Suda. So Thai it was and I haven't had Thai in a while and plus I was starving from skiing all day. The place is in a corner of an outdoor shopping center and upon entering the place was completely empty at 7 pm on a Wednesday. I thought it was strange but I didn't mind cuz the place was so damn clean and charming. Wood and ceramic Thai artwork delicately spaced throughout the room with a nice goldfish tank at center room and a soft yellow hue on the walls. We were greeted by a cute and sweet little lady (reminded me of one of my own aunts) and she quickly started recommending items from the menu. We ended up with : Thai Salad $7.95- Huge salad (easily feeds 4) nice greens, cucumber, tomato, quartered hard boiled eggs and fried tofu with a warm peanut-curry dressing. Dressing was real thick and not at all short on flavor. Coconut Milk Soup $4.95- I always get this at Thai restaurants and theirs was pretty good and balanced but was a little lukewarm. Roasted Duck $11.95- Look and taste of Chinese roast duck but it was boneless (nice) and it laid atop sauteed cabbage and spinach in a clear-ish sweet and sour sauce. Sauce was nice but it took away the roast texture of the duck. More like braised when all said and done. Ho Mhok Seafood $12.95- Curried Seafood Claypot although served in a modern western bowl. This was wonderful with chunks of shrimp, mussels, salmon, calamari and scallops in a creamy smooth red curry. We got it mild, but the flavors were fantastic. An intermingling of the curry paste, coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, fresh basil and fennel fronds all contributed to the seafood. Absolutely bomb with white Jasmine rice. With some Singha beer and ice water, this really topped a great ski day. This will make my list on options to hit while on I-80, especially when I've got company who can appreciate good Thai food. I just hope the locals support it enough so they can survive so a visitor like me can enjoy a meal here from time to time. read more

Love love love this restaurant! The owner is incredibly lovely!! She makes you feel like you're a part of her family so this place definitely feels like home! My friend and I had the tom yam soup, a small size is perfect for two people. The soup was so flavorful and appropriate for a cold rainy day! We had the red curry and pad kee mao. My friend was skeptical about getting curry at first, because she does not like Indian curry. I've had similar experiences with other friends before and had to reassure them that Thai curry tastes completely different. Thankfully my friend has an adventurous palate and was willing to try it. She loved it! Yippee! The owner was so incredibly sweet, she knows that my friend hadn't tried Thai curry so she brought out little tastings of the other curries they offer. How nice of her! We also ordered the pad kee mao noodles because I remembered it was really good from the last time I ate there (ROTD, whoo hoo!). It didn't disappoint! The lovely owner came by and chatted with us, telling us tales of her travels in Thailand and all the places we should check out. Great and authentic taste. One of my favorite places to get Thai iced tea. Their cups are huge and it will last you your entire meal! Came here for lunch on a Monday and was greeted and sat. We were the only customers in at the time (11:30) but it quickly got filled by 12pm. They have a handy lunch menu with great prices for their entrees. I had the beef baby corn with oyster sauce marinated into the plate. Extremely yummy and sweet. Loved all of the flavors in the dish and they were not stingy with their meats. I finished my plate clean! Also ordered the Tom Kha soup. It is pricey for a small bowl but regardless it is delicious. Their coconut soups are to die for. My boyfriend had the mango curry. That was hot on the peppery side but the flavor was definitely infused into the curry. It was quite delicious. Service is quick and prompt. I can't give it 5 stars only because the lady who served our table treated us as if we were rotten kids who she thought weren't going to tip her. Her service towards the other tables were definitely different from ours and that was simply unfair to me. Won't expect too much from service the next time around. If you're in the area and craving for some Thai, Khun Suda is delightful! Don't forget to check in for free drinks w your entree! FAVORITE Thai place in the area!!! I prefer it to Thai Basil down the street (so if you are in the area, go for Khun Suda!!) Suda is the owner and she is so sweet and friendly...she is not a fan of spicy food, so everything is made mild unless you request spicy. She will ask you on a scale from 1-4 how spicy you want it. If you like spicy, tell her 5, because even the 4 is not super spicy (in my and Chris' opinion). Even better, she will bring out extra chili sauce, etc. if you are concerned that it will still not be spicy enough for ya :-) The fresh roll app is so light and delicious, and the Tom Kha soup with seafood is one of my favorite items. The pineapple curry is excellent, as is the red peanut curry (and the green curry...and probably the yellow too but I haven't tried that one!) Enjoy your lunch or dinner with a cold Sing ha beer and you will be in HEAVEN! I absolutely LOVE thai food. especially when i'm out on work trips (which is quite often). I always joke that the person auditing my expense reports at work should have figured out by now that I love me some thai food. Khun Suda is my go-to Thai place in Roseville... it helps that it is REALLY close to the hotel I always stay at... but it is fantastic. The Tom Yum soup here is very very good. Not too salty with the perfect amount of spice. All their noodle dishes are great.. they even have Duck Noodle Soup here (which is one of my fave things to eat). The soup has the proper ingredients with the herbs and star anise, and I always switch it up to the rice noodle instead of the egg noodle. Lahd Nah is another one of my faves here... good size portion with lots of veggies and delicious flavor. The Pad Thai is legit as is their fried rice. Last time I was here, I ordered the Larb Gai salad and I have to say that is the only dish I was not a fan of. It didn't seem very authentic to me and had way too many onions. I feel like the ground chicken could have been more ground up... and it definitely could have used more chili powder. The flavor was ok but not something I would order again. The service here is pretty good too. Because I come here often, the waitress always gives me my solo table in the corner so I can read and eat my dinner in peace. I'm always afraid to rate Thai restaurants because I can't remember the name of anything I ordered. "The chicken in the bowl with the yellow sauce sprinkled with chopped peanuts was really good ... " Boy, isn't that helpful! But ... after 3 visits (all based on positive Yelp reviews) I felt remiss that I hadn't given the place an official shout out! I'm still a novice with Thai food so I can't speak on authenticity or curry levels or whatever but the food is really good here. I broke a rule and had the same thing twice (pumpkin curry) because it was so yummy and I thought it might be a seasonal dish, so I'd better "gobble" it up. True, the servings aren't heapers ... we were all eating with a protective elbow covering our dishes like my friend Kris would do to keep me from cheating off her in junior high school. But honestly, it is the right amount of food and priced right. They charge .50 for a side of brown rice. One of the local competitors charged $3.95 - but you get a big bowl. So what. I'm pretty disappointed in this place. The reviews were really high, but seriously - this place is okay. I'm Thai and I did not like this place. I ordered in Thai and the host gave me a strange look and responded in English. My green curry was extraordinarily green and there was very little chicken. Service was slow (they tried to make up for it by giving us some soup though). My friend ordered Pad See Ew and there were very few greens. We ordered the appetizer sampler, and the fried wontons had some sort of 'cream slaw' instead of actual meat. The satay was pretty terrible - round, over-marinated, and cold. As for ambiance, it reminded me of a cozy restaurant and the decor had some nice Thai decorations too. They did not say thank you when we left. Koh Tode Kup (Sorry), not coming back. It seems like there's a Thai restaurant on every other block these days. I like GOOD Thai food and I only wish that it was easier to find. Finding average Thai food is pretty easy, but to find a place that really stands out means either trying a lot of different Thai restaurants in the area (like I did), or simply getting lucky. Yes, the dining area is on the small side, but it's not tiny and there are a few cool things to look at while you're waiting for your food. Khun Suda is located in a corner of a strip mall complex and can't be seen from the nearest main road (Douglas Blvd). I work a few miles away and I eat at Khun Suda about once a week. I've been there many times and the food has always been well prepared by the same cook, the owner's daughter. Her cooking is tasteful and consistent. How spicy the food gets depends on customer preference on a scale from 1-5. The default number is set at 1 since were in America. If you want it like they serve it in Thailand specify that you want it #5 spicy, but only if you know what you're doing. I like spicy food and I don't go higher than 4. One of my favorite dishes is the Pad Thai. I've found over the years that Pad Thai is a good measuring stick to test the overall quality of what's being served. If a Thai restaurant doesn't even make a good Pad Thai it's not worth trying anything else on the menu. If you like spicy Pad Thai try it #3 spicy. It's perfect. From the appetizer menu the Stuffed Chicken Wings are a MUST. The center is cut out of the wing and the chicken is minced along with silver noodles and spices before being stuffed back in and lightly fried. Don't be bitter if they run out before you have a chance to try them. It's a popular dish, you've been warned. I also like the Goong Sarong. Translation: Shrimp wrapped in a won ton. It's served with a sweet and mildly spicy red sauce. The shrimp are good sized and the won ton, while fried, is not overly greasy. I admit that curry dishes are not my favorite. There are others who have a more informed opinion than I when it comes to this subject, but I've had a few red and yellow curries at Khun Suda and I have not had a bad time. The only thing on the menu I've had that I wasn't thrilled about is the mango sticky rice. The mango was awesome, but the rice was weird. As Thai restaurants go, this place gets 5 stars. Great food. The fresh spring rolls used to be my fav but this time they were super gross. New owner said they are changing menu and doing things their own way.
