    Cod Fillet al Coco
    Jana B.

We saw the viral video on TikTok that the daughter posted and decided to give it a try. FOOD: I had the cod filet de coco. My friends had the nachos. Let me just say this dish was epic! I could bathe in the mango-chipotle sauce. I seriously had to put a plate over it to prevent me from licking the darn plate. Only negative was the vegetables on the side were a bit oily. ATMOSPHERE: Regular restaurant in a strip center. Had a homie feel to it. SERVICE: This is where the deduction starts. One waiter for the whole restaurant. This was for a 12:30 meal and table of 3. No name and limited understanding of my questions. TIP: Come, but be prepared to sit and stay (which was okay for us) and DO NOT SKIP the margaritas!

Wow. Incredible meal. Stopped for a late lunch, 3:10 and we were the only patrons. Friendly wait staff, pleasant and clean dining area. Ordered Poblano soup and Chile Relleno. Both were outstanding. One of the best meals I've had in a while. Shockingly good. Fresh and temperature appropriate. Plated like it was a Master Chef finale. Fresh house made chips and a warm salsa were wonderful. The service, while pleasant, was not attentive. I wanted more salsa and needed a water refill. The greatness of the food made the service a negligible issue. Smile was appreciated. I highly recommend this exceptional food experience.

Best Mexican authentic food I've had here in Plano! Actually in all of DFW are. Keep in mind, this is not your Texas Mex food. This dishes here are from Jalisco, Mexico.

The choriqueso was pretty good (a little cold) and really loved the chips and salsa. It's pricey here, but I thought they would have happy hour specials. Nope. My issue is that they clearly advertise they have happy hour, yet when I ordered a house margarita at 3:15 on a Tuesday it was $12. I was told when I asked at the beginning it was on a happy hour special. $12 is not special. It's robbery, especially as it wasn't top shelf and was weaker than my last ex. Service was hit and miss as there was only the one older gentleman behind the bar who kept leaving. Won't be back. It's for these reasons you've been chopped Sazon!

The food was great. Nice family owned restaurant. Be patient they are trying hard to make you happy. No quickies yet!

Where is it? I could not find it even with Waze. I drove up & down renner.

It's on the east end of the strip center that sits behind Freddie's hamburgers. Not so easy to see from Renner Road. And for an easier reference, it's across Renner from Methodist Richardson Hospital. But not "on" Renner, rather just behinds…

    Is there a happy hour?

I went the week of the soft opening so the menus were not complete. As of that time, I don't recall. Happy hour being mentioned.

Do they have a full bar?

    Yes ma’am, absolutely!

We had the deviled eggs and lump crab cakes to start, and both were SO good. Prices were great too. Our waitress, Staci (or Stacy), was AMAZING. Sweet, funny, great at banter, and incredibly attentive. Even when she was busy, she never made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. When she was at our table, we had her full attention, she checked on us the perfect amount, and we never had to ask for anything twice. She was on top of her game! My only complaint was a really awkward interaction at the end. I wanted to ask Staci two simple questions: whether they carried an olive gin I'd had in Europe (they didn't, but I haven't found it anywhere) and whether I could buy a roll of quarters because we were going to play pool. Somehow this turned into 5-6 staff members gathering around, plus this random blonde lady in a white T-shirt and jeans joining the conversation. Aside from Staci and the blonde lady, no one else even acknowledged me. They just stood there looking at me. It was weird. It felt like a lot of unnecessary attention over two simple questions and made me pretty uncomfortable. Having another customer involved was honestly the weirdest part. It was disappointing because we'd had such a great experience up until then. I went from thinking, "I need to bring my friends here!" to leaving feeling pretty unwelcome. Food: delicious. Atmosphere: beautiful. Prices: great. Staci: WONDERFUL. I just wish the interaction at the end had matched the rest of the experience.

The bar is lit in a way that makes you want to stay and chat. The only thing lovelier than the bartenders (that have been the same for years) was the loveliest companion that accompanied me most recently, and held such a wonderful conversation. There is a lot to the atmosphere here, both inside and outside, with the inside feeling like an intimate event, and the patio being a party starter. They often have live acoustic music outside, but it isn't brash or overwhelming. Usually one person and a guitar with a small amp. Nothing crazy. I haven't had pizza in one million years, but if I were going to break the streak it would be here. It's got a real artisan feel and taste that can't be beat. If you dine in, I recall they had the bread strips they bring out - GREAT stuff. If you aren't sure what to get, go for that Texas Mule. Tito's...Ginger Beer... need I say more? If you live here and haven't been here - you are missing out. If you are passing through, stop in. It's a "go-to" for me the two times I am in Plano each year. I might have to simply go visit again just for the experience and company.

We were very pleasantly surprised. It's even better in my opinion. The people are very warm and friendly. The food is really delicious. I love that they bring not only good salsa with their fresh hot chips, but also a tomatillo sauce and a black bean dip. We've now eaten there several times. The taco meat has a nicely charred flavor. The tamales were very good. (I'm picky about my tamales. I've tried their ranchero sauce, chili con carne, and sour cream sauce. None of them disappoint. Their rice isn't dry like it is at many other Tex-Mex places. And their $5.00 all day frozen margaritas are worth it. We usually go for the lunch specials that run until 4:00. They don't have mole on the menu, yet. I'm looking forward to their future specials. In this day and age where it's hard to keep a restaurant open, I really hope this one survives.
