We were looking for a new breakfast place close to Kaanapali and we found Kihei Caffe in Lahaina (Foodland shopping center). This is a new restaurant, order at counter and either indoor or outdoor seating. The place was immaculate and clean. I suggest purusing the menu on your phone for quicker ordering. We started with a double espresso which had good crema and was not too fruity. Fresh squeezed oj was also tasty. My husband had the beef patty loco moco with eggs over rice. It was a large plate of food that served him well through a day of snorkeling and sun. I had the pancakes and added Macadamia nuts and banana slices on top. The toppings were plentiful and 3 pancakes can easily be split between 2 people. Pancakes were light. Service was great and this is a wonderful local restaurant added to a Lahaina. Definitely a 5 star!! The staff was amazing! This is a place where you order at the counter and they give you a number. We were a party of 12 so we were a little needy and had a ton of food come our way. They were so sweet and patient and helpful! The food was incredible. I got crab cake benedict and HELLO!! So incredible. Perfect Maui breakfast. My hubby got the 2-2-2 & loved it. The french toast was delicious and my friend loved the loco moco. The coffee was delicious, too!! OVERALL: amazing breakfast place, you must try the French toast and fried rice. Freshly squeezed OJ is overpriced though (they give you a tiny cup for $5). I went here for breakfast before the Road to Hana as it's on the way from Kaanapali. I ordered the banana and macadamia nut French toast and fried rice, which were two of the most popular things on the menu. When you order, you have to wait in line and pay at the cashier, but you get seated really quickly and the food comes out fast too. Our food came in around 10 mins and it was absolutely amazing. I loved the French toast, it was so sweet and crispy, and the toppings were delicious. The fried rice was also so great, lots of good meat flavor and was a perfect compliment to the French toast. This place was yummy there is a long line but it goes fast besides if you come in a Sunday they have the swat meet and one person can wait in line while the others go shopping. The review had Kanu short ribs moco but they didn't have it so I went with the pork chops. Lots of food but all yummy with the gravy on the side. The pancakes where the fluffiest I have ever had. I came here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with some friends and we were seated immediately! I opted in for the Traditional Loco Moco w/ pork fried rice and that did not disappoint. The services are great and the food was very good as well. It was just your typical little spot but it was a solid choice.

We were there around 11am, restaurant was not busy. After ordering, there's at least 6 empty tables, but none of them had been wiped cleaned. Couldn't get anyone attention to clean the tables. We found a clean table outside and sat down. Two of the staff came outside, one of them told the other to clear the dishes of the outside counter and moved the condiments to the side, they both left without cleaning the counter. The food was ok and not crazy expensive, but the place definitely did not meet the hype. My wife said her huevos rancheros had zero flavor, not even salt or pepper, and the Tostitos salsa made it worse on top of the soft flour tortilla instead of deep fried tostada that one would expect in huevos rancheros ... it was basically an open faced burrito with eggs and Tostitos salsa. My fried rice was good but they gave me over easy eggs instead of sunny side up, so no runny yolk to mix with the fried rice. We first found the original Kihei Cafe about 16 years ago and it immediately became a "go to" place on our list every time we visit the island. It was also a recommendation to friends. This trip we're staying in Lahaina so visited that location. To say it was a disappointment is an understatement. The eggs, if that's what they were, were inedible. I think they were powdered substitutes and the potatoes had no seasoning and were just blah. My husband did not feel well the rest of the day. We know everything has gone up in price, especially the food, but to spend $50 for breakfast for two that was such a disappointment, is just sad. We won't be going back to that location! read more

This location just opened a few weeks ago. They actually open at 6am, not 8am. Yelp and google both have their times incorrect. Very large portions. Loco moco was good. The pancakes and French toast were both very good. Make sure you get the banana and Mac nut topping for both. Veggie omelet was ok. Huevos rancheros was decent. The person that took my order made me feel like she was doing me a favor even talking to me. I ordered a couple cinnamon rolls to go and she said they would be ready in about two hours. (!?!?) Amazing food and coffee. I wish I could dine here weekly. The coffee was strong and the French toast with banana and macadamia were sooo good. Enough portion to share. My son got the basic breakfast with bacon, 2 eggs, and hash browns. It was perfect. We dined outside. 4 stars really for the food, but not for the service. They just seat you but don't really check on you after that. I had to get my own coffee refill. Also the outdoor seating is practically in the parking lot but luckily we went early and it wasn't loud or busy. Also sides with a busy street and the shopping center itself only has one side entrance, a little awkward to enter. Again really worth to check out when visiting the area. Great brunch spot. I've been coming here for years and today I received the worst service. It started when I was to be seated with 2 other people and he tried to sit us at a table for 2. When I told him there was 3 he got an attitude. I ask for the table that was open and he said it was for 4. Proceeded to sit at a small table. Then right after me he sat a group of 3 and the table for 4. Then I sat for a while and didn't get my food till my family was done with there food. My food wasn't even warm. This is an outstanding breakfast restaurant, without the 45 minute wait. As you walk in, you order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. The coffee they serve is delicious and they serve several specialty coffee drinks. For breakfast I had the Kalua Pork Loco Moco with fried rice. The portions were huge and the flavors were mind blowing. The chicken and waffles special was one of those dishes that you never want to stop eating. The sweet waffle with the salty chicken was delicious. And our pancake expert, said that the pancakes were some of the best he had ever had. There was eight of us and there was no complaints. This place is new in Lahaina. At the front entrance you'll order your foods and wait for your drink on the next counter, then the host will seat you. They are very fast on delivering foods. All the condiments is already on the table. I like how 2 free refills on sodas and 1 refill on juices. Though, instead of calling your name they should just give you a number (confidential privacy). We were visiting in Maui and I had a craving for macadamia nut pancakes. My favorite place years ago was Charlie's in Paia but it closed a few years back. So, I yelped pancakes and Kihei Caffe came up so we went there and boy am I glad we did! Visiting Lahaina, we were doing our shopping at the Sunday Farmer's Market across, located on the parking lot (highly recommended btw). Being new and away from the touristic places there was no line. They have a huge selection, so I went for something more local and tried their Loco Moco. A traditional Hawaiian breakfast of two eggs any style on a local beef patty over a bowl of rice and topped off with brown gravy. The meat soft and perfectly cooked to my taste. So food was good, and service as well, especially from one of the youngest staff member (boy with curly hair) If you are like me, a Tourist visiting Lahaina, and looking for a good, quick and causal breakfast or lunch this is a spot that I would recommend.
