The restaurant is very clean and the staff were all very attentive, greeted us the moment we walked in, and answered all of our questions. The pizza was just not our taste, which doesn't deserve a bad review. It was the EXTREME greasiness that I'm certain is not usual. The garlic cheese bread completely saturated the box by the time we got home (10 minutes). The box was soggy and 100% saturated with grease/oil. The pizzas were about the same, not quite as bad as the cheese bread, but so much so that we had to store the leftovers in a different container. We won't be back because of this, but if you're looking for fresh pizza in a cool atmosphere, you found your place. read more

I do not even remember Detroit pizza being this good (Buddy's was the standard growing up). This is the REAL DEAL!!!!! But Buddy's definitely did not have toppings like garlic corn, soppresseta, whole milk mozz, kobe beef, umami oil, and siracha ranch just to name call a few... We arrived at 5:00 pm on a Saturday, and they were already busy. But they seated us immediately and our server really knew her stuff right down to the 48-hour dough rising process. What did we love? Everything! What did we order? The Imposter app, the Ugly Duckling salad (salivating just thinking about the mix of artichokes, avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, pumpkin seeds, corn and a hint of dressing), and for pizzas we got The Remodel, The Pig Riot (a meat lover's dream), The Mucho Gusto (the table fighting over the Dorito spears), and for the waist watcher in the group, the Slender Crust Prom Night (yummmmm). Good: Fast Seating, friendly staff Bad: Food Overall: Not for me. I visited with my wife and daughter. We ordered a plain pizza for my daughter, a pizza and salad for my wife, and bread sticks for me. The cheese was unpleasant. My daughter and I could not eat most of what we had. My wife that it was ok. However at $46 I was not impressed with my experience. I also ordered a Diet Coke and I'm pretty sure I got a Coke Zero. If you're a fan it may be preferable, but I am not a fan. I was optimistic that this would be another option, but I will not be back again. Have eaten here 3 times now. Food and service have always been outstanding. We really do enjoy eating here. I'm leaving a negative review so that the owner of the restaurant can read this. Today I witnessed you, the owner of the restaurant come inside and berate about 5 of your employees in front of everyone. You pounded your hands on the table and pointed your finger at multiple employees. I will come back and eat here again, but the next time I see the owner I will confront you personally. That's no way to treat ANY employee. If I worked for you, I would throw in the towel and quit on the spot. Zero tolerance for that kind of behavior. You have a problem with an employee you pull them in back and address it privately. You need to realize you are only as good as your employees. read more

Visited and ordered the Original Detroit Build-Your-Own (this was a mistake because they charge for every individual item you put on it, and it becomes way more expensive than their signature pizzas on the menu). Our family of 4 had mixed reviews of our pizza (Original crust with Pepperoni and onion on one side and onion and bell pepper on the other side). We all agreed that the sauce was a little sweet for our liking and lacked flavor beyond that, but we liked the crust a lot. The service was good and our waiter kept our water glasses full and checked in with us often. I did notice a bar in the back and the atmosphere seemed great for a date night or night out on the town with friends, if you are into that sorta thing. We had a really odd experience with this place. We got seated right away and then had wait staff walk right by us basically ignoring us for about 15-20 minutes. A couple was seated one place over and a server got the started with drinks. I went up to the hostess and asked if anyone was assigned to our table, they said they'd check and walked off. Another 5-10 minutes later I finally stopped someone walking by and asked who the server was. He ended up apologizing and said he wasn't sure and would take our order. We finally got drinks in, followed by our order being taken. We ordered the thicker crust knowing it would take a little while longer. I also ordered a salad while my wife and daughter did not. We waited quite some time, no salad, no pizza, our server came over periodically and finally said he'd checked with the kitchen and found no pizza was started. The server, who then introduced himself as Dimitri, said he told the kitchen to make it now and then the pizza came out relatively quick. As well I finally got my salad. In all Dimitri was nice, did his best to be attentive, however at one point some random server came over and asked if we had everything and we're okay. We said fine but had the impression this was her table and she'd caught crap for originally ignoring us as she was one of the ones walking right by us when we arrived. Overall it took 2 hours to get through dinner and it was exhausting sitting there for so long. Yes it was a Saturday and we'd arrived at 6 but to lack customer service and ignore us was unacceptable. Dimitri was the saving grace and the pizza was very good but we have no intention of going back to Killa Pie. They need to better manage their servers and make sure they understand customer service and at minimum acknowledging customers. Was going to give 1 star but gave 2 based on Dimitri's good service and good pizza. read more

Gave this place a shot after hearing from friends that it was good. Killa Pie makes some delicious Detroit style pizza that is a nice change up from Neapolitan and NY style. The dough has an excellent flavor that is noticeably different than the average pizza place. The interior is cool; nice enough to go out on Friday night but casual enough to not be too fancy. My husband and I went to check this place out on a Friday night and we are so glad we did! The ambience was great for our Friday night date night with sports in the TV and superb cocktails. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and prompt with making sure our drinks were filled and order was taken. The food was a 5 out of 5. We do not normally like thick crust pizza but this place has changed our prospective. My husband and I shared the Hell Cat and a caesar salad. Both were excellent. The salad was fresh with the perfect amount of dressing and the pizza was cooked to perfection. I cannot express how much we loved the sauce and the crisp of the crust. We brought the leftovers home to our boys and they agreed that the pizza was excellent. We will be back! read more

Delicious food and great service! As someone who is from Michigan, this pizza is some of the closest I have found to a true "Detroit style" pizza since I have moved. I've come twice with others and between both visits we had the Imposters, the Meatballs, The Sausage pizza, and the Pioneer pizza. I'd recommend any of them. Four stars and not five because they have some weird air ventilation issue and had to keep the doors open on a FREEZING night because the restaurant would get very smokey with the doors closed. This happened both nights, over a month apart so it was not a one-time thing. All that being said, I will continue to come back... just dressing more warmly on cold nights. read more

Delicious Pizza with Excellent Service! I was very pleased with my first experience at Killa Pie. I ordered a 1/2 sausage with mushroom and 1/2 anchovy with olives Detroit-style pizza. It was ready on time, and it was kept warm in an insulated bag. The hostess was very friendly, attentive, and courteous. My mother raved about the Caesar side salad, especially the generous quantity and tastiness of the dressing. The pizza fell short of a perfect score only because the anchovies were mediocre; for this minor failing, I wish that Yelp allowed half stars for a score of 4.5. High-quality Cantabrian anchovies (like jarred anchovies from Ortiz) are not overly salty or fishy and can even be eaten alone and be described as "sweet". To be fair, Cantabrian anchovies can run from $40 - $300/lb, so I understand why restaurants rarely offer such anchovies; sadly, the use of mediocre or inferior anchovies (which can smack of cat food) is probably why they are so unpopular. Ironically, preserved anchovies became a traditional topping because it was cheap peasant food whereas good anchovies today are an exorbitant delicacy; so I'll keep seeking out the perfect anchovy pizza but probably need to settle for ordering plain pizza and adding my own. Despite the unimpressive anchovies, the rest of the pizza was outstanding, and this will become one of our regular take-out choices because of their delicious food, cheerful service, and convenient location. Their menu has a wide variety of enticing pizzas in addition to building your own, so I look forward to exploring them in future orders. read more

So this was my second time trying Killa Pie. My greedy ass didn't take pics either time. My bad! Anyhoo, let me start by telling you I am NOT a deep dish or Chicago style pizza fan. I like a thin or hand tossed crust. Think St. Louis style (Imo's Pizza) or NY style. Killa Pie is Detroit style in terms of crust but the sauce is on top. Thankfully, they have an original style and a "slender" which made me interested. On my first visit, I had the BBQ chicken and the second I had the Hellfire. Damn. Good pizza! The crust is everything!!! Buttery and crispy but not too thick if you order the slender crust. Toppings are fresh and plentiful and the sauce is magnificent. Definitely fresh, seasoned with a hint of sweetness. The staff is great. Very pleasant and great at answering my questions. Maybe my new favorite pizza spot! Oh and the same folks own Mash'd on Preston in Frisco. They offer the same pizzas. read more
