Amazing meal at Killen's that left us satisfied all day. We had the 1 meat plate with brisket, creamed corn, and collard greens, beef rib by the pound, and french fries. Nothing disappointed. Both the brisket and ribs were juicy, unctuous, and fall off the fork. Most people prefer to have that top layer of fat trimmed off - not us. It was full of flavor and kept the meat juicy. We got an order of fries on impulse and was very happy that we did. The fries were amazingly crispy and potatoey and really enhanced the entire meal. Seating is clean, lots of windows, spacious. Just felt too much like a fast food place. Service was good. They kept the line moving and ordering easy for first time customers like us. That brisket though (imagine mouth watering emoji). First time going to Killen's even though I've wanted to go for a while. I went with a small group and we ordered allll the meats. The brisket melted in my mouth and I would say I liked even more than Truth's which was my prior favorite. The burnt pork belly ends were also delicious. I felt like the beef short rib was slightly underwhelming but felt like a novelty so we ordered that too. The sides were all tasty - the collard greens were mild (in a good way), creamed corn was amazing, and the beans were actually top notch with small strands/chunks of meat in them. Note that we got there around 10:30 and played cards at one of the picnic tables before they opened at 11. That being said, not really any major line and they moved quickly. Absolutely solid choice. Personally I'd rate this bbq as top 10 that I've had in all of Texas. You can tell a lot about a place on brisket alone, and this place has mastered the meat. Don't take away the desserts because of all the meal choices. Pecan pie was flavorful and a must try. read more

Walking in you can smell the goodness of their BBQ & also see everyone working like a well oiled machine. I decided to order their 2 meat plate which comes with 2 sides as well. * Pork Ribs- nice peppery rub, it was also tendered & seasoned very well. The ribs fell off the bone & I can tell that they took their time to smoke these bad boys. It had a good bark but the brisket was better. * Brisket- moist, tendered and it just melts in your mouth. Nice pink smoke rings around the brisket & the bark was wonderful. Only critique I have is maybe some more salt. * Mac & Cheese- creamy, cheesy & the chew was the perfect al dente. * Collard greens- it was decent but not my favorite. They were cooked to perfection but a bit too sour for me. Its kind of like a pickled collard greens. Overall, this spot exceeded my expectations. Barbecue is my favorite food. Smoke + meat + time = happiness, as far as I'm concerned. So much so that when I met the woman who would become my wife and found out she has lots of family in Texas, I decided to make her my wife so that I could visit and eat the world's best barbecue on a regular basis. Our most recent stop was Killen's, and it was everything I wanted it to be. We got there around 11:30 on a Saturday, and that is the move to beat the lunch rush. We had no wait at all, but the line was out the door by the time we were sitting down. Brisket, pork ribs, and sausage is generally a good order to get a read on a barbecue spot you've never been to. We got all that, and added on a beef rib because I was looking to hurt myself. Man...the pork ribs are OUTSTANDING. Shockingly delicious. I want to eat these every week until I die. The brisket is very good, better than most for sure, but it's difficult to match up side by side to the ungodly richness of a dinosaur rib. I'd go with the latter if you're deciding between the two. The sausage was fantastic. The creamed corn looks AWFUL and tastes AMAZING. The brussels sprouts are excellent. Even their house sauce is stellar and surprisingly unique (sweet and sour and unlike any I've had anywhere else). Basically, I love Killen's. Although, eating a few pork ribs, half a pound of brisket, half a sausage, half a dinosaur rib, lots of sides...that's too much food for one sitting. I was looking to hurt myself, and I did. It started with every single person I interacted with. Superb meat cutter, great side servers, awesome cashier - I thought they were all just cool people to interact with. So here's the foods I tried: Pork ribs - SOOOOOooo good. I was supposed to bring more home than actually made it. I keep wondering where they went... Turkey - This is hard to make good, but they nailed it. Smokey, savory, and succulent all at the same time. Brisket - They nailed the BBQ standard. If you want some great Brisket, this is the place you should head. Blistered Brussels sprouts - Sweat & smokey and just so wonderful. Any time these are served, I have to try them and I wasn't let down. Creamed Corn - I am a creamed corn fan. I've rarely met any that I didn't like, but these were up there in the love category. If you like creamed corn, these will be a hit. Banana pudding - Straight forward, nothing special. If you like banana pudding, you'll enjoy it. If you aren't a fan, don't start here. My road trip partner decided to get a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. He gets them a lot when he's traveling and he thought this was the best he has ever had. He gave me a piece and I about died. It was HOT. I'm not Buffalo hot wings fan, but if you are - you'll LOVE this. He did. Fried Mac & Cheese - They did not look like I expected. They were balls of Mac & Cheese deep fried. Wow did they taste good. I was only allowed to have one of these and wish I had ordered one, but it was too late by the time I tried it. I picked up lunch to go from Killen's the other day. I'm happy that they have online ordering. The last time I was here with my parents (a few years ago), they didn't have that option. I wasn't in the mood to wait in line though there wasn't really much of a line when I arrived to get my food (around 2:30p on a Friday). I walked past the side entrance where you can enter for to go orders, but I figured it out once I walked in the main entrance. My food was ready and waiting when I got there. This time I had the two meat plate with brisket and ribs. For my sides I had potato salad and collard greens. I added a piece of tres leches cake for dessert. The brisket is really flavorful, but the skin had a bit too much pepper for my preference. It is really tender though and you don't really need a knife to cut it. The ribs (or rib as they gave me one giant pork rib) was really good and tender. The bbq sauce that came with it was the tangy sauce. It's meh. It's a thin consistency and the flavor is okay. I put it on the meat, but it's definitely not the best bbq sauce I've ever had. The potato salad was really good and the collards were surprisingly pretty good! Tres Leches cake is one of my favorite desserts, but this one wasn't quite as good as I was expecting. Flavor wise it was good, but it was very dry at the top near the icing. The bottom was yummy though since it was moist from the milk. It looks like they close at 8 pm now which is better than closing when they run out of food (which was typically in the afternoon). With the online ordering option, I will probably start ordering food here more often. read more

I was in Austin last week and went to Franklin's Bbq. Franklin's wait time was over 2hrs while Killen's wait time was 15 mins. I ordered 1lb of moist brisket and 1 beef rib, fries, and onion rings for 3 ppl. The brisket was juicy and flavorful. The meat on the beef rib falls right off and was super tender. Fries were just fillers and onion rings had a nice battered... Sorta like a fried chicken battered. The amount of food i ordered was more than enough for 3 ppl. I would do half lb of brisket next time minus either the fries or the onion rings. Killen's vs Franklin's? I say Killen's because of the shorter wait time and the taste were similar. read more

The food is SO GOOD here! This is my go-to bbq place in Pearland! Of course we all know bbq isn't cheap and good bbq imho is worth every cent. I can't wait to go back but we cautious about their hours of operation. They close at 6pm some days which is really silly when they can bring in SO MUCH business at dinner time. Fire! There is no way to explain how good the BBQ is at Killen's! No way. The best I can come up with is to say Killen's brisket has ruined me for any other! RUINED! Every meat is outstanding but the brisket is out of this world good whether you choose lean, wet, or burnt ends. And the sauce. The regular is wonderful and the coffee flavored sauce is my favorite. The homemade pickled peppers onions and cucumbers are yummy to go on the side. Now, the sides... creamed corn is fresh off the cob with a slight jalapeño undertone. So good! The mac & cheese is crave worthy. The green beans are good, the slaw is good, the potato salad is good. It's all good! You have to get extra sides even though you can't eat it all in one sitting. The desserts, y'all! Try the bread pudding. The cheesecakes are also delicious. Service is fast and helpful in the line. Eat inside or outside, but come early to stand in the line before they run out of things. Takeout is always good, too. You gotta try this out-of-this-world BBQ!
