Walking past Kilwin's, you can't help but smell the fresh waffle cones, and they draw me in every.single.time. Yes, they have all kinds of chocolate covered goodness, but it's the ice cream I come in for. Hubby even loves this place as much as I do and he's not a "sweets" person. He rarely eats any sweets other than chocolate chip cookies. But he'll stop in here any chance he can to get their chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. The shop is small and is hard to move around in, especially when they are crowded, and there's rarely ever a time they aren't crowded. As Marie said, be prepared to wait at least 10 minutes. She hit the nail on the head with that tip. The employees are all friendly and helpful. Even though the line is often out the door, they will still make you their top priority when you are in front of them and I've never been rushed along. Now, to talk about the door. I wrote in my Peterbrooke review about the bathroom door that you couldn't see into but you could see out of. MY BAD! That is NOT at Peterbrooke, it's here at Kilwin's. So I've cut that part out of my Peterbrooke review and I'm going to paste it in here. So for those of you who read the other review, I promise I'm not crazy, I just got a little confused! hehe And here's one last cool thing to know. They have a public restroom here and the door is made of glass. Yes... glass. From the outside looking in, the glass is frosted and you can't see into the bathroom; but, when you go inside the bathroom and look out, the glass is clear and you can see everything on the outside. Personally, I can't use this restroom, I have tried. I just can't do it. My mind is telling me the people out there can't see me, but my mind is also telling me that if I can see them, then they can see me! LOL So, I say no thank you! Hubby (John S.), on the other hand, he has zero problem with it whatsoever. As a matter of fact, whenever we are in this store, he goes to the bathroom even if he doesn't really have to go to the bathroom. LOL Every time we are there I have to wonder if my husband is some weird whatchamacallit. Not a voyeur, but the other one. Dang. What's that word? Hang on... I'll BRB... must Google.... Exhibitionist! That's it! LOL Makes me wonder if he's not an exhibitionist! I tried. I tried tried TRIED to resist the urge to walk into this place...but one whiff of the waffle cones did me in. HOLY Willy-fricken-WONKA do they have some chocolate! It's everywhere, like, really all they needed was the chocolate river and oompa loompas. My only complaint...alongside other reviewers...shop needs to be bigger. Could've been worse...I really wanted one of everything. Now here's the verdict: **whispers to the Elite Yeeps**...."It's better than Peterbrooke and they should give away golden tickets!!!" The ice cream took me back in the day when I first tasted cookie dough ice cream as a kid. That moment when you find a new favorite thing. And the macadamia clusters? That turned from "ok, I'll just try a bite of each..." into "hey where did they go?" Yeah...I ate them...both. Ribbon of gooey caramel enveloped in chocolate and chock full of nuts. And it was the LEGIT quality chocolate too! Besides, I stayed an extra 10 minutes at the gym that morning , so I gave myself a pass... Lots of sugar to be had in here... they make waffle cones on site and they have a nice selection of ice cream, shakes as well as confectionery type chocolates. There are ready made boxes of chocolates for sale on display. The waffle irons are near the entrance on the chocolate side, not the ice cream side. Kilwin's in near M Shack and has such a small storefront it may be hard to find in the Town Center which is so spread out across so much land. read more

Oh.My.God. Please come to upstate New York?! The smell is heavenly. The treats look outrageous. The staff was friendly and just fantastic. In our party of three, only one of us had been there before. Our host had already talked me into the toasted coconut ice cream before we even got there, but my husband wanted to try things. The lady that scooped our ice cream let us all sample half a dozen flavors, and informed us that it was buy one get one free waffle cones (I think it was buy one get one free...or half off....whatever!) Great tastes, great flavors, great service. My kids love to go to Kilwin's, both for the choices of ice cream and the chocolates they have for sale. This particular Kilwin's is always busy and service is always great, unrushed and unhurried and you always get a smile. They do not mind giving out samples and my kids, well they like to sample even when the still get the same ice cream each time. With all these accolades, why only four stars? In my humble opinion, it is just a bit pricey for what you get. and the ice cream choices are limited. Granted, going to an ice cream only store will yield many more ice cream choices and going to a chocolate only store will yield more chocolate choices. But when you get both, you get some great highlights from both sides of the fence. Now what is best about Kilwin's? I am an ice cream addict, and I will fully admit this! I moved to Jax almost a year ago, and I have to say, I'm so glad I discovered Kilwins in Town Center. There is so much to pick from at this place: fudge, candy apples, chocolate bark, chocolate truffles, chocolate covered everything!! My absolute favorite part is the ice cream. They have delicious flavors, my favorite being the chocolate chip. This one should be called chocolate chunk because the chocolate chips are huge, which I love. I also really like their dulce de leche flavor, although I'm kind of biased because no matter what, dulce de leche is always my favorite. The workers were super friendly and happy to help us out. I looooove me some Kilwin's! I don't come here often, but when I'm at the SJTC and decide I want to splurge on some calories, I'll stop in to treat myself. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted by the heavenly scent of freshly made waffle cones. So delectable. Kilwin's has a vast assortment of treats--from ice cream to fudge to caramel apples to chocolate covered pretzel sticks and marshmallows and on. There's something for everyone. Usually I'll come away with a single scoop of ice cream either in a cone or a waffle bowl and it's more than enough. Although their treats are a bit pricey, the taste and quality justify it (IMHO) and they have daily BOGO specials that can help slow the burn in the wallet ;) read more

Sigh. If sweets were a narcotic, Kilwin's would be a methadone clinic. Walk into the little shop situated in the gigantic Town Center empire, and you are greeted with gourmet sweets galore!! Some highlights include: -Apples the size of an infant's head covered in chocolate, caramel, and nuts-- made behind the counter -Blueberry waffle cone ice cream -Raspberry sorbetto -Chocolate-covered fruits -Chocolate handcuffs (?!) -Daily deals! (e.g. buy a big bag of popcorn and get a small one free) They pretty much have chocolate-covered everything, from fruits to whole s'mores to whatever. Covered is actually not the right term for them.. they are more like buried in a thick mold of chocolate and/or caramel. The sweets are really, REALLY HEAVY, and the price tags are also "gourmet". We let our inner fatties take over control and got a bunch of different things and could only take a few bites of each thing because they were too thick and sweet and chocolate-y. I'd return for a scoop of ice cream or a tiny treat, maybe holiday gifts. read more
