Very disappointing. Especially from the perspective of a local boy whose been eating korean food for all 60 years plus on Oahu even back to the days when only Kim Chee 1,2, and 3 existed. Korean cuisine has since grown tremendously. But this place gives a bad name to local Korean food. All full plate prices are at $22.00. You get very little for your money. My family ordered 3 full size plates. Fish Juhn, kalbi plate, and mixed fried mandoo and BBQ chicken. The fish Juhn was almost all fried egg batter with only a few small specs of fish in each of the 4 pieces she received. The kalbi plate consisted of 3 very thin pieces of kalbi each of which could have been consumed in one bite for each rib. It was very tasty but hardly filling. The mixed Mandoo plate consisted of very small and few pieces of Mandoo. I believe the size was equivalent to the ones you can buy at Palama market 8 for $3.50 or at Costco in large frozen bag. Very small and tasteless. The plate also says 2 scoops of rice. It looked more like 1 scoop rice which was flattened across the plate. The side vegetables of kimchee, cucumber, Daikon, bean sprouts, and potato were far below acceptable. There is nothing praiseworthy in these 3 orders I have critiqued. I can only imagine how less than par the other entrees are. Come on Kim's! Step it up and show some pride on behalf of local food. Don't let the tourist leave our islands with a sour and sore opinion of local Korean food. Auwe! read more

I'm not sure what the complaints are about in regards to the rice portion. We've been here several times and each time has been a great experience. I think the prices have gone up but I feel like this is all around everywhere. I don't like to attack any businesses especially after the last 2 years that's closed down many local restaurants. I get it if the food or the service is down right awful. IMO I think this place is pretty good as far as fast food Korean places go. I'm Korean and I approve of this place. Haha! read more

The food is pretty tasty especially the bbq chicken. But the amount of rice Is ridiculous. For the mini plate you get half a normal scoop and for the regular plate plate you get 1 normal scoop flattened and spread out. Rice is not expensive.......it wouldn't hurt to give more. Every Korean restaurant I've ever been to include sides for all main lunch/dinners (including tofu soup). Not here. Tofu soup included ZERO sides. So disappointed. We decided to go eat some Korean food for dinner at Yummy's Korean Barbeque before the movies. We haven't been here in a very long time. Now, it's Kim's Korean Barbeque now and it kind of looks the same. Until you see their new sign and know it's not Yummy's Korean Barbeque anymore. First time, here and we decided to try this new place as we were here and there was no line. Except for the 2 ladies who had already ordered and were waiting for their food. I ordered the Tofu Soup and I didn't know that it came with 2 scoops rice and 4 sides too! So, I chose more tofu, kim chee, choy sum and bean sprouts. My friend ordered the meat jun and barbeque chicken combo. It was like 2 meals at 1 time. The tofu soup and like a vegetable plate for later on when I get hungry again. I ordered a bbq chicken with kalbe plate. The beef is ok but the chicken is really dry and over cooked.

I grew up going here. I love the spicy chicken, meat jun, and all the sides. I had a terrible catering experience here, but the plate lunches are always great. My only complaint is the plate lunches went from $8-9 to crazy expensive. You get two plate lunches you are at $45-60. Why not got to a nice sit down spot for this price and enjoy the atmosphere. Make sure to call ahead, the wait can be up to two hours on a busy night. read more

They changed owners. Price went up, quality went down. Too bad so sad since we used to come here for years. Tofu soup costed around $20 and wasn't that great. The guy who services the front counter is definitely new compared to the ladies that used to cook and serve from a year ago. Not sure if he is the new owner...but I definitely get the strongest feeling that he purposely skimps on everything to maximize his profit. One thing that solidified this feeling was after having ordered the 20 dollar kalbi plate and the seaweed soup...he said that's it?? The food is not fresh like it was last year nor as tasty nor as plentiful. He even skimped on the rice...the amount I got was half of a scoop for the large combination chicken and kali plate. This place is located in a beautiful bay and the place might not look like it but the foods going to pleasantly work it's way into your mouth before you realize that it's gone.... Yes gone this plate is so good you can loose track eating and have an empty plate. The people working on the place were so friendly I had to go back and tell one person how great this place was it's definitely a hidden gem in that shopping center like I said it doesn't look like much but the food puts its reputation through the roof! Picked up a few plates for my sister's birthday earlier this week and needless to say, we were so impressed! The food tasted awesome and satisfied our craving for Korean food. What made our meal taste even better was the short wait time and friendly service. We went at about 4pm on a Monday, so there was no line yet the food was still fresh. I was disappointed by the service and more when they charged me close to 4 dollars for tap water . They lost me as a customer when they did that . Are here more than a few times. Each time I've done so I think the meat quality, especially the Kalbi meat is really chewy. So chewy to the point where you have to spit it out. The veggies are fresh and always good. I hope they see this and make the changes. read more

Picked up some lunch to go and come to find out they no longer offer brown rice and you can longer double up on your vegetable options. Disappointed to say the least. Opened up our plates to discover we didn't even get close to the amount we usually get. We've been here a few times since they reopened as Kim's and never had such little bit food. Didn't pay $20 to still be hungry afterwards. I don't know if it's due to the current situation but man was I bummed. The bulk of our combo plate was the 2 side dishes which we didn't order with not much rice. I guess the cashier was too busy to handle everything and some other customer got 4 side dishes they didn't order. For a plate that I paid about $20 for, I expected better. read more
