All the fixins

This was our first visit and we had a great time. The staff was delightful and pleasant and helpful I can't say that I'm an expert but I do know I'll go back and try more things. 10/10

Banchan is top notch

As someone who has grew up with Korean food and eaten in some of the better restaurants in K-Town, LA, I didn't expect to find quality + delicious + fresh Korean food in Jacksonville but I found it today. I highly recommend the Japchae (they do this really well), Mandu Duk Guk (Dumpling rice cake soup), and the ban chan (side dishes) are great! The restaurant has a homey and clean feel to it and the owners are very sweet. If you're looking to try Korean food, this is one of 2 places I've been to that I would recommend in Jacksonville.

Spicy braised pork ribs

Visited here for dinner on a Saturday. Ordered the Spicy squid with veggies and it was made very well. Not too chewy, with perfect about of Korean spice. The spicy pork ribs were a bit too sweet for me but the meat was very tender and came off the bone very easily. They provided a various amount of banchan (side dishes) and provided us with more kimchi when requested. Decent service but they seemed a little short staffed. The restaurant is fairly large and can accommodate a lot of people. I would come again to try other dishes! Good quality food here.

Mrs Kim is a hoot! She is friendly, inviting and very interesting to talk to. Her husband is friendly and welcoming as well. The yakimandeu appetizer is delicious. I had my favorite, Dol Sot Bibimbop, it was piping hot and the bibimbop sauce was spot on. Spouse got the pork bulgogi, he said it was delicious. There were so many banchans and all were fresh and delicious. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Jacksonville. The restaurant is clean and spacious, the tables are not too close so one doesn't feel crowded. We had so much fun talking to Mrs Kim that I forgot to take a photo of our entrees.

This was my first time at Kim's Korean BBQ. My husband chose it as his birthday dinner spot so we called in to make sure they didn't require any reservations (they did not require it). We were seated quickly but service was a bit chaotic. It appeared that only 2 people were working on a Friday so things were delayed a bit. Appetizers and drinks were put in first but then we got our banchan before we even ordered our entrees. Owner took notice finally and asked if we ordered entrees, we said no and finally got to put our order in. Entrees came out hot and very tasty so the food made up for the wait. However, prices felt steep for the size of the entree. The owners are nice and funny. Mama Kim let us store and serve our own birthday cake, no extra cost which was very nice of her. The restaurant is clean and feels authentic. They play Korean music and it looks like they do karaoke some nights so seems like a cool place!

The great banchan! A variety of small dishes of great things to try!

Like many of you, I'm sure, I've gone down the Instagram rabbit hole many times watching various and odd video clips. But it's not just cats crashing Christmas trees and guys burping and hitting their heads in garage doors. Not too long ago I started watching videos of people eating various wonderful looking foods in Korea. And I wanted to try that food! To sate my Korean food craving, my wife, her dad and I ventured over to Kim's Korean BBQ restaurant in Mandarin. Although a bit of a hike from the beach, it was well worth it and I would highly recommend this restaurant! The restaurant itself is pretty big and very clean! Posters adorn the walls and what looked like K-pop was playing on the tv. Everyone was super friendly and Kim (well I assume it was Kim) told funny stories to the entire room of diners! We ordered a lot, but everything looked so good and I wanted to try it all!! For appetizers we got a small order of Japchae - small glass noodles with beef and vegetables, and Haemool Pa Jeon - a pancake filled with seafood and green onions. Both were awesome. The Japchae noodles were sweet and the meat was very tender. The seafood pancake was fluffy and the various seafood, including squid, added a nice texture. In addition all tables get some banchan - little bowls of pickled vegetables, kimchi, green bean, broccoli and lots of other dishes. All were excellent and included a variety of flavors like sweet, vinegar and sour. For main courses we ordered the Dol Sot Bibimbap - rice with meat, vegetables and an egg served in a super hot pot, Galbisal - marinated short rib beef with onions, and Dak Gangjeong - basically a mild Korean fried chicken with onions and peppers. All were excellent. I think we enjoyed the Korean fried chicken the most. Super crunchy with a great sauce that worked well with the breading on the chicken. My wife loves bibimbap, especially when the rice gets really crunchy on the bottom. The surprise was the Galbisal. The meat was super tender and I thought the marinade on it was excellent. We took a lot home, but felt that our dishes gave us a great variety of different Korean food to try. Of course they have a selection of soups and stews that also look awesome that I will definitely need to come back and try. But first, while I still digest from my great meal at Kim's, I'm gonna watch a few hours of mindless videos!

Bulgogi deobbap

This was my first time at Kim's Korean BBQ and it was so Korean deliciousness! There were 24 of us who got together before our final Korean class and Kim's was the recommendation of our teacher. Our order was placed and came out quickly, it started with appetizers, banchan(several Korean veggies),the kimchi cucumber was the bomb! As an appetizer we tried the Mandu (Korean style beef & veggie dumplings) and Kimchi Jeon (kimchi pancake w/kimchi, onions and green onions)...talk about flavor! The kimchi Jeon was popping with flavor and could've been our meal but it was shared among everyone; you definitely need to try it when you go! For our meal, my mom and I, we ordered the bulgogi deobbap (marinated grilled beef) and ojingeo bokkeum (spicy stir fried squid). We both loved our entrees and definitely needed a to go box. Those in our party said their meal was flavorful and those who had the spicy dishes said it wasn't that spicy, it just enhances the flavor. If you're looking for original Korean flavor Kim's needs to be added to your list. It also has the Korean BBQ style where you can cook at your table.

Went here Sunday for lunch with my friends. It is located in San Jose with the shopping center and they are at the end of it. Plenty of space for parking. Food was good but not great, I have been to many Korean bbq place and what they offer was just not what I was expecting. I got the bulgogi and for me it was a little disappointing especially with the price of it of $24.99, the bulgogi came with the steamed rice and that was about it, for me it just wasn't as bbq'd as I was hoping for , so with that price for lunch it was a bit overpriced for me especially for the lunch menu. I also ordered the japchae which was really good! to be honest I will be happy if I just ordered the japchae. Also when you order it comes with the Korean food sides which was pretty cool! I enjoyed trying different sides. Customer service was good! there 's 2 Korean ladies working and they are both very friendly.

Tofu and veges. So much tofu, well seasoned.

I went with three other ladies from work, for dinner. None of us were familiar with the menu and our waitress was super helpful. We all got different things, and we're delighted with every dish.

When we came in we were seated quickly and we were able to place our order fast as well. I got the marinated pork ribs which had a nice flavor and was a good portion size. The sauce was really good but the meat was a little overcooked. The pork belly was also overcooked and lacking flavor. Our servers were really nice though and I'd definitely comeback just for the ribs.

No Hite? I'll pretend since the mug says so

The food is very tasty but the portions are small and the food is overpriced, even before the inflation after the pandemic.

The side dishes were very flavorful, and I also purchased two drinks that were absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided good customer service throughout my visit. The only thing is that they told me that they do not clean tripe in Korea which was hard to believe. I do want to share a concern regarding the preparation of the tripe soup. After beginning the meal, I noticed that the tripe did not appear to have been cleaned. At first, I wondered if this was simply the restaurant's style of preparation, but after researching further, I learned that improperly cleaned tripe can be both unpleasant and potentially unsafe to consume because tripe comes from the stomach lining of the animal. Uncleaned tripe may still contain food residue, digestive material, parasites, worms, bacteria, and strong bile or waste odors. This can potentially lead to issues such as foul smell, unpleasant taste, food poisoning, bacterial contamination including E. coli or Salmonella, and symptoms such as stomach cramps, vomiting, or diarrhea. Proper cleaning is generally considered an essential part of preparing tripe, especially in professional restaurants where customers would quickly notice if the cleaning process was incomplete. Overall, I appreciated the kindness of the staff, the quality of the drinks, and the excellent side dishes. I am only sharing my personal experience and concern specifically regarding the preparation of the tripe soup.

The tables have the both the BBQ grill and the hot pots. Food - try it all! They have all your meats and stuff in a buffet area. everything we tried was fresh and delicious. I opted for beef bulgogi and it came with rice, a fried dumpling, japchae, kimchi, pickled veggies, Korean rolled egg, bean sprouts, and a couple of other sides. The food was ready faster than the 15 minutes quoted, which was great. I enjoyed the bulgogi. It was tender and had good flavor. The pickled veggies and kimchi were the most flavorful sides. I also liked the japchae. The dumpling was too greasy, as evidenced by the grease in the wrapper and the egg and rice didn't have much flavor. The egg needed salt. I really wanted - and should've ordered - the Korean hot dog...next time. This place has great customer service and packaging. Whether they were small versions of actual vehicles in production, or crazy dragsters or monster themed or anything else the wizards at Mattel could come up with, I wanted them all. You know what I didn't really want or collect as a kid? Trucks. Sorry Tonka. But I just didn't care about dump trucks or bulldozers or big rigs. And you know what, I kind of felt that way as an adult about food trucks. I mean, to me they were fine, but like my penchant for hot wheels in the past, I'd rather go to a sit down restaurant. Yeah, well Taste of Korea has me rethinking my food truck aversion! Located in a pretty ordinary parking lot on Beach Blvd, this is definitely a little food truck that can deliver some fantastic food! The guy taking orders is super friendly and patient as a noob like me tried to figure out what to order. Ultimately went with the Premium Doshirak, the bibimbap and the kimbap. For both the doshirak and the bibimbap I got the bulgogi beef for the protein. On the kimbap I tried the ham. All were excellent. The Doshirak is a cool box filled with banchan - small side dishes, and cooked rice. The banchan include Kimche, Japchae, fried dumplings and some cool desserts. The blogs is excellent and all of the banchan tasted great. I thought the eggplant was a little mushy but the flavor was still really good. Bibimbap flavor was excellent as well. The only downside is that the rice at the bottom doesn't get all crunchy from being cooked at the bottom of the hot bowl. But it was a minor issue to me. And the kimbap was super fresh. The ham wasn't overpowering and it was a nice change from getting role bulgogi in the kimbap as well. The only wish I have is more variation on the proteins for the dishes we got. But the food is super tasty and I look forward to going back to try the fried chicken and well, anything else on the menu. Maybe I'll bring a matchbox car or two to help pass the time while waiting for the food!
