Yelp wouldn't let me type a one word review, but GARBAGE sums it up. I ordered a Reuben & got roast beef instead of pastrami, but even if they got that part right it wouldn't have been much of an improvement. My wife's fish tacos were horrible. It was so bad I downloaded the yelp app just to right this review. I am perplexed by the great reviews. That is what made us decided to try the place. They are making the best of a bad situation. Street side dining is better than nothing. The food is always great, delicious cocktails and beautiful town green nearby. They could do away with the piped music outside, as dining in a more tranquil setting is best. But good from them on doing the best they can during the closure. read more

I go to KIN but n a fairly regular basis because it's one of the best restaurants in Windsor. I'm going to base my rating in the better experiences I've had here because I understand that everyone can have an off day every once in a while but I will mention that it hasn't been entirely consistent. I would say 80% of the time it's great. Friendly service and delicious food. Their pizzas are fantastic (my favorites are the Mac & Cheese and Shrimp pizzas) and the risotto is great as well. It has a wonderful location right on the town green so it's nice for an outing and running to the park with the kids afterward. Every once in a while it's a real miss however from a service perspective. I'm not sure if it's due to understaffing or possibly misjudging how busy it will be, but about every 5th or 6th visit we seem to get a server that is really annoyed that we are there. Very short, unfriendly, and not present. I have mixed feelings about writing this because I really like KIN but it happens often enough that it beats mentioning. After a long day of traveling, we stumbled upon KIN. We walked in about 7:30 on a Saturday night and were seated in about ten minutes. All three of us had different ideas of what we were hungry for and this restaurant had a menu that easily satisfied our appetites. From artisan pizzas to Grandma's Pot Roast there was something for everyone. The restaurant was packed and the noise level was pretty high. However, the food was so delicious we didn't mind. The staff was not overly friendly but they were very efficient. I highly recommend KIN and if I am ever in the area again I will definitely return. read more

The lady who sat us was nice, we had to ask the gentlemen getting the tables ready for things because our waitress outright ignored us the whole time. We told her nevermind on a pizza, But she brought it out anyway. She didn't bother telling me that the gluten free pizza crust came out hard as a rock and I couldn't even bite into it. I really hate wasting food. She kindly took it off of our bill which I think is the least she could have done since it wasn't edible. The mac daddy pizza was enjoyed by hy husband and daughter and our friend ordered the pizza with corn on it, but it was actually really good. I found it spicy, but have a low tolerance. They shouldn't have it on the menu if it's not edible. I give it 3 stars for the help from the gentlemen setting the tables, the outside area is nice as well. Count me in as one of the many fans of this Windsor favorite. As a resident of Windsor it's great to walk over and enjoy friendly faces and wonderful service. With a menu that changes with the seasons they always have delicious options but there Kin Wings and Roasted Veggie Pizza are my favorite along with Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' ale. Delicious! Came here for dinner with friends. Loved their outside patio as one of the group had her dog along. They have a very well chosen beer & wine list. I had a burger which I have to say was one of the BEST burgers I have ever had in Sonoma County. A thick patty cooked exactly as I wanted. They serve their burgers on baked brioche buns from Costeaux Bakery. They come with choice of soup, salad, tots(sweet potato), fries (regular, garlic or sweet potato). The portions are large; huge burgers - a very good bang for your buck. Will come back to try others things on the menu, but may just get another burger. read more

This place was alright. I had the pesto chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was disappointing because there was no pesto!! I know people get afraid of draining /dominating the sandwich but NO PESTO! My dad got the same thing and also didn't have pesto. Dear Owner ~ Train your staff. Being nice is not the same as being competent, sensible or well trained. When I asked our server ( who was very nice) long after ordering from the menus we were given, why we weren't offered happy hour menus or informed of happy hour, he said, " Oh, I thought the hostess would have given you HH menus". He apologized and said he hadn't put in our entree orders yet and offered to change the orders if we liked which was very nice. He really tried, but from a sensibility standpoint , it was clear we didn't have HH menus by simply looking at the table. Again, he was super nice, but he became flummoxed and lost his footing, became awkward and eventually screwed up the order. This I could have overlooked. But... Our hostess, a short, thick, dark-haired girl who's plunging neckline top showed so much cleavage that every time she came to the table I was tempted to cover her with a tablecloth and explain the difference between a strip club and a restaurant - when asked why she hadn't given us HH menus with dinner menus curtly replied," Because there weren't any left", as if that was the end of that and turned to leave. I remarked that she could at least have informed us it was HH and offered to send a menu as soon as one was available, to which she responded flatly and without apology or anything remotely solicitous, "Ok", then turned on her heel and walked away. Ok ? No, smile, no apology, no acknowledgment? What a bizarre and unprofessional response to a customer who is clearly letting you know they're unhappy about something. Perhaps this seems nitpicky to some, but these little things are part of the small measures that add up to the sum total experience and frankly, if a server doesn't offer a HH menu during HH which gives you the option of ordering less expensive items, it gives the impression they're assuming you're not aware of the HH prices - and are willfully keeping you in the dark in order to sell higher priced items and ensure a higher tip. As someone who was in the hospitality/resturant industry for more than half my life, I can tell you this goes on all the time and that it p******* me off to no end. It's incompetent and unprofessional at best if it's an oversight , cheap and sleazy if it's intentional. The food - the food could have excused a multitude of sins IF IT WAS REAALY GOOD but frankly, it's just ok. The fish tacos were pretty good though the dill on the cabbage slaw on the tacos is a little odd and the tomatoes were underripe and tasteless. It's a good portion ( 4 small street style tacos) but for $14.50, well, meh. The turkey sliders were tasty but the pizza, while having a decent tasting red sauce, was doughy and oily. The green salad was tasty but my caesar was just average, made sadder by the use of packaged, dry and flavorless grated cheese. We may stop in again anther time down the road but this is our second time and so far, it's been underwhelming. To our waiter with the turquoise studs and beard, you are super sweet and clearly mean well - we appreciate how conciliatory you were and the effort you made. Maybe just be more observant. To the hostess ( or better yet, words for the owner to share with his hostess) keep your tits in your top and when a customer approaches you with a concern, acknowledge it and at the very least, make an effort to act like you care - fake it if you have to. There's a reason it's called hospitality. read more

I really wanted to like this place, they had nice Yelp reviews and I was real hungry. They were fairly busy last Fri night and the place had nice energy to it, the service was a little slow but not bad. I, my wife and my two sisters got our food and everyone was saying how good everything tasted.....UNTIL the point where one of my sisters a huge curly black hair out of her rosotto...NASTY! At that point no one would finish eating, not that we still were not hungry and not that the food did not taste good, but what else could have been in our food. We called the manager over, he was very apologetic about it and said he would make it right...we did not go off on him we kept our cool as well. The manager compt he meal with the hair, and took 50% off the rest of our meals and waived the corkage fee, as I had brought a bottle of wine. At the time I was fine with it, but as we left I felt they should have done more...granted waiving the meal with the hair, but really just 50% off the other meals....shoot we all ate less then 50%...and our dinning experience for the evening was ruined. The manager did give each of us a card to use next time, but he gave no detail as to what each would get if we did go back and pull out this card. All in all i was very disappointed as to how it was handled. read more

Best Tacitos EVER!!!! My boyfriend and I literally plan our wine tasting days (driving up to north bay from SF) around making sure we are able to get here for at least a snack. We've been here multiple times and it's always wonderful! The Staff has always been very knowledgeable, helpful, and accommodating every time we have come! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! I have to be gluten free due to dietary issues and this is easily one of my favorite menus in the Bay Area! read more

Preopening family night. First course of sweet potato tot and chiefs special [small baguettes toast with melted brie, slice of pear and balsamic vinegar were marvelous. The second course were salads two each Cesare's with traditional dressing anchovies on the side if you want and wedge lettuce with blue cheese, good, but not great. Entrees ordered were pot roast with veggies, the herbed chicken with scallop potato's and veggies. The chicken had good flavor and was moist. Both the pot roast and chicken came with a large portion of veggies. The hamburger was done to the well side of medium rare which made it a little dry, the meat had good flavor and the fries were very good. Three pizzas were ordered and each was very good. They have a very large selection of beers on tap and in the bottle. The wine selection is of moderate size. read more

Came here with my wife for our 1st anniversary. I had stopped in earlier in the day to drop off some cakes that I had ordered for the occasion, met one of the owners, Brad, who seemed almost as excited as I was. They set us up at a nice table, and when we came in for our dinner, we were warmly greeted by the hostess, and told that Brad and JC had something special for us; the brought us a great little bottle of champagne as an anniversary gift. Our server, Sarah,was out shortly after to open our wine and give us some menu tips. We ordered salads, hers a chop and mine was the house. Both were very good, very fresh. We also had to have a sampling of the fries, both the sweet potato and the garlic. Very good fries, crispy and delicious. For dinner we had the mac n cheese (a must), the steak and the pork chop. here's what I absolutely loved about our meal; everything was fresh, the vegetables were served grilled, ample and very fresh, both the pork chop and steak came with a small serving of scalloped potatoes, and serving sizes were enough to be filling, but not so much that I felt like a ginormous pig for finishing my meal. All in all, an excellent meal, nicely decorated, attentive and prompt service. Dishes were brought out in such a way that we had time to enjoy each dish as it was served without having to rush through the plate to make room for the next dish. My only negative comment is the music-this is a small, cozy restaurant with a nice bistro seating area and then what seems to be a more formal dining area.The music from the bistro area was loud enough to be intrusive in the formal dining area, however not unpleasant. This is the reason that I with held the 5th star, otherwise our experience was fun, memorable and left us anxious to return again. We really enjoyed our evening, the service, atmosphere and food were all very good, the price point is excellent. Time to update the first try. I got there, my friend showed up five minutes later. Ordered artichoke dip. Very good. That's where the rails fell off. We ordered. It seems our server only heard a wedge salad and not the pork chop I ordered as well. My friend got salmon. It came under done. It was returned for pot roast which was good. She finished. I asked about the pork chop, it didn't get ordered. Had an event to attend and was not interested in waiting for a to go entree that will sit in the car for three hours. Highly do NOT recommend. Visiting from out of town, my guest got the macaroni and cheese for $18. Total rip. Small portion and the sauce seemed more like a little cream with the tiniest bit of cheese and not really any seasoning. Overpriced and very under appreciated, sorry KIN. I got a Caesar salad for $10. It was simply romaine lettuce with an on-the-light-side Caesar dressing and very few "crostinis". Service was fine (it was lunchtime but the place was quite empty) but maybe it's just good as a meat place. We didn't order any meat and everything was very bland and food not worth going to a restaurant for. read more

Three adults ordered three different dishes and we shared. Each of us found it all tasty and in a special treat category. We like to get dishes we are not likely to cook at home. We got a risotto with shrimp and sausage EXCELLENT. We got a turkey breast sandwich on home made "bread/roll" with some slaw inside that was made from pasilla and jalapeno and red bell pepper with excellent flavor. And we got a pizza with sausage, pepperoni, salami and kalamata olives. Sooooo good. So unusual. The 2 kids get a choice of appetizers, main course, drink and dessert for $7.50! We love Kin and go here almost every week. Great place for the family and to catch a Giants game or watch football. They also know how to entertain kids. They wait staff is always very kid friendly. Our 5 year old son actually asks us to go here so he can make his own pizza. The bring out the dough (flat already) and the kids can spread the sauce and cheese and top it with pepperoni. Always a great time and the food is always great. We brought a bottle of wine and they didn't even charge us corkage. After dinner you can walk around the Town Green and get a coffee or some dessert at Powell's. read more

Wait staff was wonderful and attentiven (which kind of made up for the grumpy hostess). Pizza and risotto were done to satisfaction. Although they leave a lot of room for disappointment with the hamburger. Very loud, and everyone seem to bump into your purse when you have it on the back of your hair because there are no purse hooks at the table. Things were basically great the main exception being the "Hostess" who must be related to someone who owns the place.The Hostest was surely and seemed to have no interest in keeping us at the restaurant. She didn't bother to mention that during out wait there would be room at the other bar inside that had space to wait at. She actually told us we could just leave if we wanted. We're always trying to help local businesses so we had dinner at Kin this past Wednesday. Nice setting in "old" Windsor town square. Pricier menu, with decent foods (though the calamari was way too salty). Our server, Rocky, was friendly and attentive. Here's the downer...one of our plate was quite filthy, and one of the glass still had lipstick markings. Attention to detail goes a long way in any business to be successful. I hope Kin embrace this advice and fine tune their operations. read more

Service is abysmal. We sat outside twice and the host apparently doesn't tell the staff we're waiting. In 15 minutes a waiter went in and out four times without making eye contact, greeting us or offering a menu. Very unprofessional. The food is just average, pretty heavy. Of five entrees sampled none warranted a second try. But they have a nice outdoor patio and the menu is kid friendly which fills a niche. read more

Very cute place! We were staying in the area and happened upon this. We had a late night snack here. I got the beet salad. It was good (nothing too fancy)..had chicken on it (which was a little dry though), and Gorgonzola cheese. My husband just had the chicken wing appetizer. They were good. Liked the atmosphere. Sat outside in the patio, which was cute. Had grape vines on top. Seems like its a local favorite. Was busy even though it was closing time. Windsor is a cute little town. read more

I went to KIN the last 2 nights. First with some girlfriends and just had a drink, and then again last night with my husband for dinner. The drink wine and beer menu is fabulous and reasonably priced. The Murphy Good Sauvignon Blanc is perfect for a warm evening. My husband ordered the Smokehouse Pizza (I'm not sure if this is what it is called), but it had steak, onions and bbq sauce. The pizza was excellent!!! The flavor mix and the pizza crust were just amazing. I highly recommend this! I ordered the pear and brie sandwich which was good. I only wish there was more balsamic on it as it could have used a tad bit more flavor. The sweet potato tots were great as well. The service was great as well. Both nights my servers were bubbly and very friendly. I think I found my new favorite dining spot in Windsor! read more

Outstanding! We drove to Windsor to take my mother-in-law out for lunch. She suggested KIN. We took a look at the menu, which had a variety of mouth watering offerings, and decide to give it a try! The restaurant is very open and spacious. The tables are close enough together where you can peek at what your neighbor has ordered, but not so close that you feel you're a part of their conversation. KIN offers a variety of salads, burgers, pizzas and small bites. I selected the lobster sliders served on mini brioche buns....delicious!! They were fresh, flavorful and had just the right amount of ingredients. My mother-in-law had their famous mac 'n' cheese. Of course we all had to sample it.....another winner!! Did I mention they pour a healthy glass of wine?? We can't wait to return and try some of their other dishes! read more

Kin is new for us since we haven't been back to Windsor for several years. I knew after a long day of wine tasting that I wanted something laid back, but yummy. They do not have online reservations, which is a little bit of a bummer for me as I tend to prefer doing things online, but they were super friendly on the phone, so I got over it. They were even friendly when, after being dropped back off at our hotel very tipsy, we decided to push our reservation back an extra hour and sleep off the alcohol a bit. This was an even bigger deal when we arrived for dinner and saw just how busy they were on a Saturday night. They seated us shortly after we arrived, which was welcome since we were very hungry at that point. We started with cups of the clam chowder, which was super delicious. I could have eaten that all night! Huge chunks of red skinned potatos, tender clams and bacon! Maybe some of the best, yet slightly non traditional, clam chowder I have ever had. Our accomodations had given us a free appetizer coupon, so we utilitzed it by ordering the chicken taquitos. They were piping hot and very delicious. My husband found them to be just a touch too spicy, but don't take his word for it as he is a spice wimp. We then split a ceasar salad and a bbq chicken pizza, with no onions since hubs doesn't care for onions. They very kindly plated half of the salad each for us, we expected to eat off one plate. The salad was fresh and clean and the pizza was also very good, although by that time we were getting very full and had to take half of it home. We sadly did not have room for dessert either, although the creme brulee looked awfully tempting. Service was also very friendly, prompt and efficient. Prices were actually really darn good, especially when you consider you are in the middle of wine country. Granted, we had a free app, but I still think we paid more for a couple of sandwiches and some chips earlier that day. This will definitely be a go-to stop for us in the future. It is unpretentious, but solid and delicious food at reasonable prices. They also looked to be very kid friendly, but also had a nice beer and wine list, so it is flexible in that we would feel comfortable bringing our kids here or coming with friends. read more
