I ordered a beef kabob and it was nice to have it come with tabouli and hummus. I was expecting a cubed beef but instead I got ground beef (kofta). It was flavorful but a tad burnt. The hummus was a tad salty. We also ordered the king sampler and I enjoyed the babaganush and the dolma. The falafel was on the small side and it was quite dry. Tidy little King Falafel is tucked away on a little side street off the park in Sebastopol. They offer terrific food and friendly service. I love falafel but it can often be dry but not King's. The beautiful balls were crisp on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. The come wrapped in a Lavash, almost like a burrito wrap, with great sauces including tahini and their own spicy pepper. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service needs a little refinement for the place to become a destination but if what you want is authentic falafels, stop in at King Falafel. Falafel - perfect, hot, crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside. Veggies - all fresh and crunchy, beverages are bottled and canned (no hot mint tea) - I'd deduct a star for that but the baklava made up for it. Flaky and dripping with honey, it was the perfect ending to my meal. I had the salad plate and added some meat balls - it was just under the standard menu on the wall. Perfect dinner. He had the kebabs (chicken and beef) and didn't share very much (which means he really liked it!) I have been in there on a weekend and it is much more lively and the service is better - gotta give the young man a break. He did come around a lot to fill our glasses. It just felt like they were all a bit distracted. It was much better after I went to chat up the owner who turned out to be really nice once I told him I had been eating falafels in Jerusalem last summer. His were right up there on par. We went here yesterday for dinner & I was so surprised! I thought it would be the ordinary dry bleh falafels you get. It was NOT! It was so flavorful! And delicious. I would give no stars but that's not an option apparently. I ordered a very simple salad the King Falafel Salad. I live out of town and didn't check my food before leaving. When I got home I found that my dinner contained items not on the menu, (specifically pickles and onions which I can't eat) there were maybe 3 pieces of lettuce and the selling point of the salad: the eggplant was not even in my container. It should be called an onion salad as the bulk of "salad" was comprised of them. How hard is it to toss together a dish of pre prepped ingredients when the restaurant is empty? Too bad for both them and my kid (who loves one of their sandos) because I won't be back. Zero stars. There's plenty of really good food in Sebastopol, don't waste your time or your money. This is the second time I do catering order, everything I crave from my hometown Haifa. It was phenomenal!!! My favorite local falafel place though I order gyros for friends too. Love their salads. The falafel salad is my favorite. I ask for tahini in the side and to dress it with oil and lemon juice or vinegar. Did I mention their falafels are amazing. Lol. They are delicious. Everything there is the best. Was craving Gyros the other night and found this place on Yelp. Stopped in for a early dinner and was not disappointed. Restaurant was empty and I did not have to wait long for a great meal. Gyros here are dank tried both the lamb and the chicken gyro along with a cup of lentil soup with pitas. Lentil soup was off the chain. One of the better made soups I've had in awhile. Chicken gyro was well-seasoned and the right portion for me to be able to finish the whole sandwich. Lamb gyro was also very delicious and was finished buy my companion. Super so good we took another one to go. Most people that came in were taking their food to go. Sitting in the dining room is definitely a different experience than I'm used to.
