Good service! We ordered the spicy wontons in chili oil, honey walnut shrimp, beef chow mein, har gow (shrimp dumplings), shiumai, and shanghai soup dumplings. The total was about $113 for our table to feed 2 people. Skip the spicy wontons in chili oil, it was in soup form but the soup was bland and the wonton filling needed more salt. It WAS spicy though so watch for the kick. Honey walnut shrimp was crispy, and not overly sweet. We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend. Beef chow mein was really good, meat was tender and the noodles were flavorful. Hargow was also really good, chewy exterior and filling tasted delicious. Skip the shiumai, it was a let down because the filling was pretty bland. I'd also skip on the shanghai soup dumplings because they were a bit overcooked and did not have any more soup in them by the time we ate them which was a bummer. Overall I'd revisit if I were in the area out of convenience but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here since there are a ton of dimsum spots in SF. Great, easy-access location. Nice interior, but I ordered out. Woman taking my order was very friendly and helpful. Wonton soup was majestic...SO good! We also had chicken chow mein which was good, but nothing special. Broccoli beef was very flavorful and beef was extremely tender; surprisingly, this did not come with steamed rice. We arrived a little early for dinner and were one of two tables, but within 30 minutes the place was full. I love that they have all the models of the dishes out in the window and the staff were very nice throughout our dinner. We started with shanghai dumplings (aka XLB) and some hot tea. Then I had the pork chow main and got it spicy. It was the perfect comfort food after a long day and we both had a little left over for a late night snack. The restaurant location is pretty good. Close to union square. The menu here is typically Chinese food that you would find any other place. The restaurant seem pretty slow. The service was good , only one person there and the food was fast. I got beef chow fun that I requested spicy , it was not bad. The hot and sour soup was nice but the fried rice was just ok. It's another place that you could stop by if you wanted some Chinese in the area. But if you expect a better experience, I would recommend you to go to China town. Excellent tasting food - wonderful service - very affordable prices. I ordered two types of dumplings a special ordered their chow fun - "house style" which is not on the menu but just ask for it. The food was hot and fresh. The chow fun tasted amazing and was more than enough for 2 people to enjoy. The dumplings were out of this world. Thanks to Grubhub for fast delivery. The food at King Kee was no better than buffet service Chinese food. The portions were tiny and the vegetarian chow mien had only a few vegetables. The BBQ pork was dry even though it was swimming in sauce and looked nothing like what was on the menu. No fortune cookies either. This place is a tourist trap, being so close to Union Square and the Cable Cars. I paid 36 dollars for 2 tiny dishes only because we came back from the hospital after not eating for 2 days due to a stomach procedure. I was severely disappointed since I usually pay about 10 dollars for twice the amount of food at my usual Chinese restaurant, which had already closed. If you are a local avoid this place! I don't see this place lasting with it's sub par food and 15 dollar chow mien. read more

I really enjoyed my dining experience at King Kee. The quality of the food and service was very good. I also liked the restaurant ambience. It has a comfy, homey vibe and is located on a hilly/slanted street (classic SF!). We were able to walk in on a Friday evening and be seated right away, so it doesn't seem to be too crowded. I would really recommend going with a group and sharing a lot of dishes. We got the Pot Stickers and Pork Dumplings for the apps. I've had better Pork Dumplings, but they were still very tasy. For the main dishes, we got the Mongolian Beef, Lemon Chicken and Pan Fried Noodles. The Mongolian Beef was exceptional. It had just the right amount of flavor and spice. The Lemon Chicken was good too, it was prepared in a tasty sauce. The Pan Fried Noodles were incredible. Very crispy and easy to devour within in minuts haha! Keep in mind, the main dishes don't come with rice, so you need to order that as a side item if you want :) . Definitely recommend checking this place out! Very well priced for SF. read more

Had a taste for some dim sum and stopped by here for quick take out. Note, it was a little after lunch time and it was not quick at all. ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 8/10 Pretty nice looking interior with the classical Chinese decor and open room dining in the back that you can often see in places that serve dim sum. I did not sit to eat though so otherwise I cannot fully say how much capacity they can handle. SERVICE: 5/10 The waitress was kind enough, however, the order took FOREVER. It was after lunchtime and it was not super busy within the restaurant either so I cannot understand why it took so long. Dim sum dishes are usually super quick and come out faster than you can eat them! Maybe I caught them prepping the next batch? I don't know. But it took nearly 25 minutes for 2 small dishes which was WAY too long. FOOD: 6/10 Pork Shumai - 7/10 - Average. It's what you expect of shumai, the flavor was right but there was nothing special about it at all. Compared to the ones I have had in Chicago and New York, it was worse. And that is surprising seeing as I am sure they have greater competition here in San Francisco. BBQ Pork Bun - 5/10 - Disappointing. It was 80% bun and 20% meat with the meat overwhelmingly sweet. VALUE: 6/10 I don't think it was super expensive, however, for what you get, it is not really worth it. PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 0/10 I would not come back here, sorry.
