Very salty Pork BBQ, pork Isaw, pork ears
    Louise P.

I've been here since it was the original Toto's grill, until it changed ownership at least 4 times now. Even then I come here and especially when I'm craving Filipino BBq. The food was a downgrade to the previous owners. The marinates they used on the meats are too salty. They all tasted the same which is just salty. The sauces were good but it can't save the salty BBQ's . The pork isaw was cooked and sliced weird. It doesn't taste like Filipino BBQ. This was the worst BBq with all the ownership changes. The place was clean and organized . The pork BBq was $3.50each and the pork isaw and pork ears were $3 . It was a very disappointing meal. I hope they changed their marinate recipe and I'll be back. But until then , it's not worth it!

Food is good! You don't really see this kind of Filipino restaurant anywhere. Love that we can grill the food! Buy the melon juice!!!! Also, the owner himself sings and he's such a great singer! So request for him ;) The comedians are funny and they can also sing!

Love this place! It's a warm and welcoming environment with great food and wonderful entertainment! The karaoke nights led by Sia and Tita V Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-10pm are a blast! There's also a live band every Saturday evening from 6-10pm. If you're looking for a fun restaurant with great food and entertainment including karaoke and comedy then look no further than King Phillip Pinoy BBQ Grill! The owner Phillip is so warm and welcoming and the staff are great! The positive energy and smiles from everyone there just proves how great this place is!

Food was very pricey and not worth it. 15 sticks and 3 drinks was already $100+, which is outrageous for pinoy street food.

The grill was as big as it could be, for the size of the restaurant. But I could imagine when its busy it would take a while to get space on the grill. Luckily when I went this weekend, it wasn't busy and we had a lot of grill space to cook our food quickly. Was impressed by the chicken isaw! It wasn't bitter so you know it was clean. Also, I liked the longanisa! The sweetness was good with the suka. I got the cantaloupe juice, it was good but didn't have any shredded cantaloupe. Would come back though, maybe on a night where they have a DJ. Vibes!

I'm gonna check with my NorCal moots about this but sucks if that's true. I was going to comment on how this is one of few bastions of affordable, slightly more unique food in the bay area, but I guess that's not the case. I'm spoiled by having a Dollar Hits in SoCal literally down the street from me so I can't say this place compares, but it's at least an option for NorCal, you know? This definitely used to be another restaurant, but then retrofitted to be a grill. Super large grill in the middle for everyone to communally cook at indoors. This is a good combination between the outdoors grill it yourself and the indoors seating of both the SoCal Dollar Hits, so I thought that was nice. They have all the classics here, isaw (sometimes Dollar Hits doesn't have this unless you request -it's chicken intestines), large intestines, chicken skin, kwek kwek (battered quail eggs), and Tender Juicy bright red filipino hot dogs (a must). You can also order a side of rice and the sauces were self serve (made it a bit sticky). It gets a bit smoky in there even with the fans, but overall had an enjoyable time the time when I did visit.

We've honestly never had a bad meal here, everything we've ordered has been delicious. My absolute favorites are the Adobong Pusit and the Sisig, and the Lechon Kawali is another must-try. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend starting with those dishes. One thing we also love is that there's always something happening. On Thursdays and Fridays they serve Filipino street food outside, and on weekends they offer buffets and often have live music, making every visit feel like a little celebration. We've been to all three Isla locations, but the Newark restaurant is still our favorite because it's the closest to us. If you're looking for authentic Filipino food, a welcoming atmosphere, and consistently delicious meals, Isla Restaurant is a place you'll want to visit again and again.

A table was prepared for us to set the setting before a cart full of food arrived and spread on the banana leaves. All the titos and titas agree - the best dish was the sisg which is not included in the boodle fight. The fried squid is an honorable mention. All other options I found to be rather mediocre and not worth getting again. Perhaps they were short-staffed when we arrived but it was hard to find a server to request anything. They were all in the back and only came out to bring out the food. We waited too long to ask for containers or the check. 20% gratuity was automatically applied and the total came out to almost $500. The meal wouldn't have been very enjoyable if not for the company so I don't think this was worth it. I may consider coming back just for the sisig.

When it came time to take food to go, we had to ask for the container, bags, and the right sized containers and the right sized bags. The older woman with the jet black hair was the one who rude and dismissive. When I asked her for a larger bag, she said that was the largest one.
