King Taco? More like Tiny Taco! I was told by a few LA people that this place is one of LA's better taco shops & if this is one of the better taco spots than LA needs to step up their game. I'm from San Diego & I debate people that SD has better tacos than LA & so far I haven't been proven wrong. This is my third LA taco spot & I haven't been impressed. First, the corn tortillas they use are not good I've had better corn tortillas at Pollo Loco & that's sad. Second, tacos are small & very bland, my carne asada had no Guac & my pastor had no creamy Guac, instead it had grilled slivered onions which is weird, Cabeza, Lengua flavorless. I ordered 6 only ate 4, now people that know me know that's not like me, I'll eat 10 tacos in one sitting but I couldn't hear. Prices were ok for most items but portions are smaller than most places, the Sopes were small too. Customer service was ok but overall this place was not for me, for now I'lll stick to SD tacos which are better in my opinion. I went on a little taco tour on Saturday and this was my second stop. It had been probably 20 years since I had some King Taco and wanted to revisit it. I went with 3 tacos, one carne asada, one adobada and one suadero. They are about $2.50 each nowadays. How were they? Small......they were really, really small. 2 bites, if that. Probably could have done one bite, honestly. Tacos this small should only be $1.00. The suadero was the best tasting of the meats. The asada was just ok, and the adobada was almost "too soft" and I liked that one the least. Flavors were ok though, none of them "nasty", just that they were, once again, SO SMALL. I've had worse tacos, but I've had a ton better ones, too. Glad I came here to check it out, but don't see myself coming back. Wife and I made a pit stop here during CicLAvia a couple weeks ago. No one wants to bonk on a nice day of riding, so tacos were a great excu- I mean, a great idea to fuel up! Wife had an asada taco and I had an al pastor one. Both were delicious. Last weekend we had a show to catch in DTLA and my wife had the brilliant idea of grabbing dinner beforehand at King Taco, but this time an actual meal! I ordered an al pastor burrito (sans beans) and she got her nachos like always. Like the fat ass that I am, I didn't really pay any attention to the meat in my burrito until halfway. They gave me asada, but they replaced it with an al pastor burrito instead with no issues. They also gave us suadero for the nachos instead of al pastor too, but since my wife and I were both curious about suadero, we left it. It was honestly really good, but I think it would go better in a taco, burrito, or quesadilla. And I don't know if it's LA in general, but good googly moogly. Them prices are VERY reasonable. Under $9 each for a burrito and nachos? This would have easily ran us $30-$40 in Orange County. Our total was like $23-$25. Amazing. Food was passable for a fast food place, we ordered a burrito, plain nachos, a quesadilla and three asada tacos. Burritos were okay, nachos were overpriced for being only chips and nacho cheese, the tortilla the used for the quesadillas tasted off, and tacos were pretty good. This place was the most lively and bustling taco place in the area. I could tell that it was in big part because of the set up. They got the lines rolling so everyone can get their tacos. Was a bucket list place for me. My wife and her family have roots here. Always was told this is the bomb! Today I tried 2 tacos buche, 2 tacos carnitas. Lacking on meat, flavor, and quantity for price. Still hungry got a pork tamale and a cheese and jalapeño tamale. I was very disappointed with these. I came to this king taco location just after 8pm on 7/24/2025. I was being helped by Amellali. I placed my order and after my order i asked if i can purchase an atole , she looked back and then looks at me and said there was none. After paying i decided i would get back in line to buy a drink. I was then greeted by another lady (very nice ) and asked me for my rewards number i asked if i can add my receipt for the food to my rewards because i forgot to tell amellali and she never asked me either but the lady said it was too late. I said okay and asked her again if there was any atole which she quickly responded yes . I didn't say anything to her but i was shocked that i was denied something they had . After i paid i was waiting for my change and amellali who took my food order calls my number out loud followed by a gentlemen on the speaker . I rush over while still waiting for my change and confirmed my order, i then saw the lady with my change for the drink so i left amellali prepping my order . As i rushed to pick up my drink amellali yells out to me in front of everyone "senora de los burritos " instead of calling my number and she and her partner next to her which was the gentleman that helped her say my number earlier on the speaker immediately start laughing at me. Completely rude and disrespectful especially to do that to a customer who treated you with respect ! I get to her and said i was getting my drink and they are both trying to keep in their laughter. I unfortunately had to go back after because i forgot my drink there and she was just looking at me sideways smirking. She then turns around and was playing around with her same partner that were making fun of me and she tells him behind the counter "ay no mames" very unprofessional. I later arrived home to try and eat one or my burritos had unions and cilantro when i asked everything on the side because my husband doesn't like unions , my sope also had more beans then al pastor meat. Depending on what time you go it's usually always busy, the staff does a good job trying to get you in and out as fast as possible... They are open during this pandemic but the hours have changed, so I recommend calling before going... They are taking all precautions to keep everyone safe and are limiting the number of customers inside the building at all times... The quality of the food here is amazing, I love the flavor of the carne asada and al pastor... Everything is always made fresh to order and the salsas are amazing... Best tacos ever. I'm in San Diego now where the famous TJ tacos are popular. But every time I go back home and visit family I stop by at any King Taco to get food to eat and extras for the next day. Something about their carne asada makes them special. There's a tangy taste to the carne asada that doesn't require a lime when you eat them. Don't get me started with their red hot salsa. Proceed with caution. It's hot. Very hot. Going to be honest their food is good, but my go to are tacos.
