No complaints on the food itself. The experience was not the best. The inside feels a little bit like a maze. There's one counter to order, a separate one to pick up your food, and then another station where someone checks your receipt and gets your drink for you. It's not very intuitive if it's your first time there. On top of that, the wait was very long. It took about 25 minutes waiting in line to place the order and another 30 minutes to get the food. Dear King Taco Management, I have been a loyal King Taco customer for more than 20 years, and my family and I regularly visit your Maywood location. We enjoy your food and have supported your business for many years, which is why I wanted to share a concern regarding our recent experiences. Whenever we order bean burritos, we request refried beans only, with no onions, no cheese, and no green salsa inside the burrito. Since we live a considerable distance away, we ask for the ingredients and salsa on the side so we can enjoy the food when we get home. Normally, a bean burrito comes with green salsa inside the burrito and an additional salsa on the side. When we request that the salsa not be placed inside the burrito, we believe it is reasonable to receive that salsa on the side instead. However, the staff at the Maywood location frequently refuse this request and only provide one salsa. When we politely explain that we are simply asking for the salsa that would have been placed inside the burrito, the staff often appear unwilling to listen and can be dismissive or rude. This has happened on multiple occasions and has made our visits frustrating. We are not asking for free extras; we are only asking for the salsa that would normally be included with the burrito, just packaged differently due to our preference. As longtime customers, we would appreciate better customer service, a more accommodating attitude, and consistency in handling simple requests. We made an online order for 6 wet burritos. We then called make sure that 2 of the burritos had no beans or rice due to allergies. The person who originally answered hung up on us. When we got to the restaurant they hadn't made our food yet so we again told the cook about our requests to which he said yes. But once we got home we realized that 4 of the 6 burritos were made incorrectly. We called to let them know and see what they were willing to do to make it right but after a 30 + minute phone call with the Assistant Manager Rosemary, there was no reasonable solution that they were willing to offer. They said that it was not their fault. We explained that we confirmed with the cook prior to making the order but they would not take accountability. Rosemary said that she spoke to her shift manager Margarita but said that the only solution was for us to take the burrito to them because they have to physically keep it as evidence. I explained that I could send her photos of the burritos if she'd like as we live about 25 minutes away and she declined saying that she needed them there physically. We have been customers for over 15 years but after seeing the way they handled this situation we will not be returning or referring them anymore business. Such a horrible experience - I wouldn't even leave a star We paid over $100 for six wet burritos, and 4 out of the 6 burritos were made incorrectly. After placing the order online, we called because there was no option to request "no beans" for two of the burritos. We wanted to confirm that only two burritos should have no beans, while the remaining four should include everything: beans, rice, onion, and cilantro. The woman who answered the phone left me talking and hung up on me. When I arrived to pick up the order, it still wasn't ready. The employee assisting me again confirmed that only two burritos were supposed to have no beans and that the remaining burritos should have everything. After driving home, we discovered that four of the burritos were made with only meat--no beans and no rice. We called to see how they could make this right and spoke with Rosemary, the assistant manager, who then spoke with the manager, Margarita. Unfortunately, neither was helpful. Instead of offering a solution for their mistake, they suggested charging us extra to add the beans and rice that should have already been included in our order. Keep in mind, we live 20 minutes away, so driving back was already an inconvenience. I have worked in customer service for over eight years, and I have never experienced this type of treatment. Instead of taking accountability for the miscommunication among their own staff, they blamed the customer and expected us to pay more to fix their mistake. To my surprise, this King Taco serves entrees, beer, and even flan! Seems to be a franchise location, as they do not participate in the rewards program. Regardless, this is my new favorite King Taco! They still serve the regular menu items you would find at any other location, but offer "Special Plates" like Pozole, Mole, and Chile Rellenos. I went with the Chilaquiles and they did not disappoint! The green sauce is the same as the one used for the wet burritos (also delicious), but the red sauce was definitely chef's kiss. Not spicy like the salsa used for their tacos/burritos/etc, but packed full of flavor. There's plenty of seating with 3 main sections, but I can foresee it getting filled during peak hours. Anyone who knows me knows my first experience was at the KT in East LA on 3rd Street where my now father-in-law tested me on how I could handle the red sauce and tacos at KT (I was dating my wife at the time and he was old school OG and wanted to make sure I could hang). Needless to say I passed (along with other "tests" he gave me) and, over 14 years later, I am still a fan of KT. However, I've never been to this location in Maywood. That sells taquitos... That sells pozole... Well you get the pic. KT isn't known for more than their tacos, burritos, quesadillas, sopes and the weekend rotisserie chicken. But this KT isn't your typical. They serve everything I just mentioned... And beer! Who doesn't love himself/herself a spicy taco with a cold beer to wash it down? This review is biased because I love King taco. They have the best simple tacos. You don't need lime because their meat is already seasoned well. The red salsa is fire so ask for it on the side. There's usually long lines, but so worth it. I usually ask for tacos to eat there and take a bunch back to San Diego and reheat the next day. Make sure to ask for the sides on the side so it won't get mushy if you are reheating the next day like me. read more

Finally tried the mighty King Taco, it only took 49 minutes standing in line, and an elapsed time of 110-minutes to receive the food. That 3-stars is starting to make sense now, no? Can you believe that we ate twice in the same night, at adjacent restaurants? Just prior we were at Egg-n-Bird but we found the chicken strips to be bland, dry (except one undercooked one), and too crispy for enjoyment. We had purchased those separately from the gratuitous sandwiches for a Yelp Elite perk, however, only two out of four were eligible. Therefore, the decision to shift here was born of unfulfilled appetites and curiosity, especially since I'd never tried King Taco before. Inside we discovered that the line wound into the side frontal dining area and even as we slowly advanced, people kept coming in and it grew longer behind us. Eventually, 49-minutes later, I ordered (it helped to be bilingual) at the sole operating window, hence the long, slow line, then sat at the booth Dora claimed 45-minutes prior. 15-minutes or so later th8e food came up and wouldn't you know it, no napkins were supplied, so after wasting five more minutes trying to get the slow, low-energy lady pouring agua frescas to assist me (to no avail) the gf ran to the bathroom and secured a bunch of paper towels. One Sope with pollo and an order of shredded beef taquitos for me and three carne asada tacos for her. I found the food was better than it looks, especially the taquitos. The Sope takes a little maneuvering to get a grip on the edge but it was worth the effort. The chicken was moist and flavorful over and above the toppings and salsa verde. I loved the Mexican rice and beans but didn't eat much of either since we had eaten across the street. The gf found that the tacos were also very good and we also sampled the ultra hot salsa rioja.
