Tried going for dinner with my family last night at around 9PM and was turned away by an extremely aggressive bouncer. He claimed he could tell I was drunk, but I hadn't even had any drinks. Absolutely brutal service. Ordered a beer... nothing delivered for 30 minutes. When the server gets back "sorry my kitchen just told me there was none of this beer left"-- yeah that doesn't take 30 minutes to figure out. Meanwhile, she was a fantastic waitress to the table behind us. Comprised of Cactus Club executives (their affiliate restaurant). This was absolutely pathetic, Rob, the manager ventured to make amends-- which was appreciated. Amazing food All the pizza's and appetizers we had were great! We ordered Calamari and 2 Pizzas for 2 people, ended up with an entire pizza to pack home . But at least we get to try 3 different flavours. They have different deals daily, just avoid going there between 5-7. Having located in the financial district, it's PACKED Good price point, beverages, but the server was in a rush and we were sat at the corner. Not only is the vibe and atmosphere totally hip and awesome, but the service and workers are AMAZING. The experience my friends and I had was incredible. Two of my good friends were visiting from out of the city and we wanted to show them a good time in Toronto. Thank goodness we took them to King Taps because they delivered! The hostess, Monica was very accommodating and ensured we had a table. She continuously would check in on us to make sure everything was good. Our server gave great, and honest recommendations of what they had on their menu. She would also bring us samples to try before ordering what we wanted. If we didn't like a drink we ordered, she had no problem taking it back for us and bringing us something else.. free of charge! After 10 pm.. their pizza is HALF OFF. King taps is a staple in Toronto for delicious food, fun music, people watching, and outside seating. Great drink selection, and the pizza is top notch. Come here for good vibes, not great food. We ordered a steak and the fish tacos. Our party shared a few platters of nachos. Everything was good, but nothing was memorable. awful service. from the phone calls to being grated and putting my name down. the hostess could never tell me how long they anticipate the wait to be. the very first time i called for a wait inquiry, she basically told me it'll be so packed, so full ... so are you telling me to not come? when we arrived and put my name down, the next hostess again, was unclear. said i just have to wait and see. we sat at a booth that sears maybe 5 people comfortably ... when the party was for 7, had to let the server know again that we were 7. we came for the pizzas since they're apparently known for their pizza. and thankfully that didn't disappoint. i had the stinging pee pizza which was great, soppressata salami, kalamata olives, mozzarella, drizzled with Calabrian honey. definitely good pizza, i recommend it. our server was okay. i hope that was just an off day. as the first point of contact, the hostesses definitely need to ensure customers actually look forward to their visit. not sure i'll be racing to come back. read more

Let start off, I'm here for the game on a Sunday. Worst staff at the bar. I'll give you credit, your food is good; although it took a REALLY long time to even get their attention to place an order in the first place. So I found it disrespectful when when they took everyone ELSE'S order and (I'm not sure if intentional) but skipped me. Let's just say I had to wait another while til my friend just helped me order too. Embarrassing, for myself to say. Moving on, they ran out of beer....OUT OF BEER. One of my all time favourite restaurants. Everything on the menu here is amazing. The service is always excellent. They have brunch on weekends from 11-4 or something which is also amazing. Best eggs benny I have ever had. Some of my favourites off the menu are the Bang Bang Shrimp app, any of the 3 tacos, and any pizza. Huge variety of drink selection as well. We had lunch at 1 pm today, and although it looked busy when we arrived and we had to wait a few minutes for our table, it cleared out at 1:30 pm. Service was really great, fast and attentive. Two of us ordered the Baja fish tacos and asked for more poblano salsa. It was not salsa in the traditional sense: it was more like a puree or a sauce. Kind of disappointing. One co-worker ordered a Cobb salad and the other ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, both of which earned rave reviews. Speaking with the server as we paid our bills, she explained that they were always willing to customize their dishes so we will make a note to do this next time. Great location at King St W between York St and Bay St, at First Canadian Place. The prices were a bit steep for lunch, I'll be honest, but it was decent and nice for an occasional change. Great place to start off your night (or finish it, depending on the mood you're in). Everytime I pass by it's always busy. Last night my friend and I arrived around 8 and had to sit at the bar. Not complaining because they put the Raptors game on for me. They also had a special on wine, half off a bottle! Naturally, me and my friend ended up splitting two bottles (very happy with this deal!). The bartender was very attentive even though she had a full bar and the food didn't take long to come out. Each time I come here I order the pizza. It is honestly one of the best pizza's in the city; thin crust with a pretzel-like, chewy crust. King taps was absolutely amazing. We are beer lovers visiting from California. There weren't tables available but the bar was open seating so we decided to sit there. We we greeted promptly by a friendly bartender. She was accommodating and let us sample a few beers before making our selection. The beer was amazing and the food was even better.... my husband and I shared the ahi tuna bowl. It was so delicious and satisfying!! When we mentioned to our awesome bartender, Megan, that we were from out of town; she wrote out a comprehensive list of fun things to do and see and places to eat around the city. Sadly although they have good food the new manager is incompetent. I have been a client for many years and have developed my friends with the very competent staff. Today my friend came back from the washroom and apparently walk though a training recession (maybe 15 seconds). The manager was very aggressive with us and we all overreacted. The result is he is barring us from the restaurant which is fine with me given his reaction but does not make it better. Myself and my many friend in the downtown business community will be choosing one of the many other excellent restaurants. You need competent manager there if you want to be successful. We were here at king taps before but the wait time was longer than we expected so we left we were here today again and God we're we dissapointed. We were here at 8:10 they told us it'll take us 40 Min to be seating we went there by 8:50 or so and they asked us to wait near the bar counter we ordered our appetizer Korean chicken which was more sweeter than I expected to be but it was okay not that great. We ordered a strawberry margarita and a frojito which were both pretty good we ordered pizza while still at the bar standing section.. We were done with our main course which was prawn and pesto pizza it was really good the cheese was fresh the dough was crispy we loved the pizza but still no table we were so frustrated we wanted to leave and then finally we were seated at 10:25 and ordered the forager pizza which was not that great and we left around 15 Min after we got our table !! we were too tired to wait anymore anyways. Went in kind of late for the 1/2 pizza special. A little bit of a party vibe. The pizzas were so tasty! I was not expecting to like the food at all. We got a side of fries and they were crispy and delicious. We ended up going back because it's a decent deal. Liked the margaritas, good selection of beers. The drinks menu and bar food looks insane here. Arrived with a group of friends for drinks are were quickly seated by a friendly host. We were given a table although we were only there for drinks which I thought was a nice touch. The frozen margs are amazing, and only $6 during happy hour! (We had more than we had planned!) Also tested some of the bites from the Happy hour menu, $5 tacos, you can't go wrong! Great atmosphere about the place for 3 pm on a Saturday (They had a Dj blasting the tunes) Can get a little loud at times so maybe avoid if you're not into that. If I could rate King Taps 20 stars I would. Everything about this place is great. Reservations are definitely recommended. Half price pizza between 2-4! and may I add that it will be the best pizza you have ever had. Its made in their stone wood ovens. They are a little on the salty side but I have never been one to shy away from salt. Aside from their pizza, they have a great dirty bread which is their pizza dough fried with a creamy cheese (forgot the name) and an olive tapanade. I believe it is currently off their summer menu but hopefully a return is in place! Atmosphere is great, plenty of high top tables a huge patio and many booths with several screens to watch sports. They pccasionally have a DJ and considering it is located downtown this place does get busy for lunch, after work and before concerts/games downtown in the city. My only sorta negative review would be that they dont do anything for birthdays!! you can purchase a dessert and they will add a candle but no perks here. Came here to celebrate a birthday. I had made reservations - well in advance to be sure we'd get a table. When I arrived there, I was really surprised by the size of table they had for such a large group. It hardly fit all of us in a small booth and I was practically standing while eating my dinner. I was a little disappointed considering I had made reservations. The restaurant was nice.. they have 2 levels - the first floor was closed off for a private event and upstairs was the dining area with a full sized barand the kitchen was all open. The lighting in the restaurant was dark and they had tv all along the bar area. I did notice there was a lot more men than women in the restaurant. Our waitress came to greet us right as we sat down and I started off with a beer that she suggested and Nachos to share. The waitress came back with the beers a couple minutes later and I tried mine and wasn't a fan but I drank it anyways, because beer is beer. For my main, I decided to try the "Stinging Bee" - Soppressata Salami, Kalamata Olives, Mozza, Calabrian Honey. It was really delicious! It had a soft thick crust and the honey worked well, surprisingly. I'd have to say their pizzas are on the pricer side, considering they were individual sized. Halfway through dinner, I decided to order another beer. Half an hour later, I still didn't have my beer and the waitress never ended up getting it. Second disappointment of the night. She did check up on us often but she didn't offer us any desserts at the end. Overall, I'd have to say the service was mediocre since it was a busy Friday night, but the food was good and the ambience is very chilled and laid back with good music. I would highly recommend coming here for a Guys Night to have a beer and watch sports or if you want fresh oven-baked pizza. May or may not be back again, I guess we'll see! read more
