The fish was absolutely fresh and tender & delicious. In my opinion, this is the best Sushi in Seattle.

I was looking for something near Northgate and saw this had 4 stars so I popped in. It is a little house converted into a restaurant. The menu is a bit sparse. You aren't getting any unique or interesting sushi here. They do have alcohol, though I did not partake. The place is a little questionable though. It seemed fairly queen but the table had ants crawling around. The food itself tasted fine. It didn't taste bad, it just was underwhelming. The server was very friendly and the food did come out quickly. read more

Very quaint mom&pop sushi spot. We came here about an hour before close and our food was made quick! The lunch combos are a great deal. It also came with miso soup. It was my first time here and decided to check out this place since I was in the area. I ordered the nigiri combination, phoenix roll, kiriba roll, and calamari. Compared to other sushi places, I thought the calamari portion size was small. It wasn't my favorite. I think the nigiri combo was alright. The octopus was too chewy to eat. I think my favorite were the rolls, especially Kiriba roll with seared salmon. It had the perfect seared salmon flavor. I would order the rolls again. read more

Parking is limited and can be a little hard to find, which is why I knocked off a star. Last time I came on the weekend and barely found a parallel parking spot in the dirt down the street. We showed up on a Wednesday night at 6pm with no wait. It didn't get busy until closer to 7pm. Sushi was great! Decent amount of different rolls to choose from. We were craving for some seared salmon and we were at Shoreline Community College for an event. Kiriba was within minutes and we were excited to try a new sushi joint (for us). Great inviting atmosphere with cozy and homey decor, it felt like stepping into a Japanese friend's house. We wanted to sample a variety so we ordered karaage, nigiri, gunkanmak, and a boat of sashimi with a glass of Asahi beer. Their nigiri and gunkan were pretty tasty and gunkanmaki were delicious. I think we are probably going to return for these. Sashimi, however, were borderline terrible. Some of the sashimi pieces were still frozen and we let our server know. I am not sure if this was a fluke but I have never had frozen sashimi before and it was weird. But we did enjoy most of what we ordered and we were happy with our meal. read more

Since leaving downtown Seattle and moving to Greenwood, my wife and I were in a hunt to find a new sushi joint. With Kiriba Sushi literally down the street from us, we think we found our new go-to place. This place was on our bookmarks for so long, and it's a shame we didn't check out this place earlier. Two notes: parking is tight, but you can probably find some street parking. Second, probably best to make a reservation if you want to secure a seat. My wife and I ordered: The seared salmon toro roll Chirashi bowl Kiriba roll Pacific roll The seared salmon toro roll was a great appetizer. The roll was stuffed with the salmon goodness, and it was a great starter overall and I would recommend it to begin your meal. The rolls were really good. The winner probably was that Kiriba roll, as the unagi sauce paired with the seared salmon was so good. I was a tiny bit skeptical about the Pacific roll, as I don't recall having calamari ever in a sushi roll, but it actually worked! The smokiness of that salmon, wow. *chef's kiss* The chirashi bowl was also pretty generous, but I would say that this was actually the low-light of our meal. The rice wasn't very flavorful, as I do love the vinegary taste of sushi rice. But the rice served tasted more like normal rice, which was disappointing. Overall, what a surprising, well, surprise. You can easily drive by this place in Greenwood without knowing, but this is definitely a gem and place to check out if you're craving some sushi. read more

I was craving sushi and wanted to grab something to go to share with my boyfriend. I found Kiriba Sushi via DoorDash which looked very promising! It's located next to Pagliacci Pizza on N 145th St. My boyfriend was the one who went to pick up the take out order, so no idea how the parking situation and the interior of the place is. But it seemed like he had an easy time grabbing the order! We ordered three rolls, one nigiri order, and one gunkanmaki order which all equaled to about $60 via DoorDash (the prices are probably cheaper through the restaurant themselves). We ordered the Kiriba Roll, Phoenix Roll, Dragon Roll, Hamachi (yellowtail) Nigiri, and Spicy Scallops Gunkanmaki. Our food looked relatively sad LOL. The rolls were tiny compared to what I was used to (peep at pic). But at least they were nicely cut into 8 small pieces! The nigiri and gunkanmaki looked promising! Starting with the nigiri! I was actually very disappointed by it. The fish was not as tender as I hope and had a semi-chewy texture which tasted not so fresh. My boyfriend loves hamachi and enjoyed it but me? Not so much (but more for him!). The gunkanmaki was actually the best thing of out everything. It had a really nice coat of spicy mayo which had a nice subtle kick. The scallops tasted fresh and was delicious! I wished I got another order of this LOL. Now for the rolls! My favorite would be the Kiriba Roll. The salmon and tempura went super well together and had a full amount of flavor. The Dragon Roll did too with all the unagi sauce. I think the unagi sauce spilled over in the container, giving the Kiriba Roll added flavor that complimented everything. The unagi was sweet with the drizzle. The Phoenix roll, on the other hand, wasn't as great as the two. The spicy mayo didn't have much flavor and the entire roll was practically tasteless. But the amount of seafood in it made up for the tastelessness as I had my concoction of soy sauce and wasabi. Loved how there was snow crab on top of it! Overall, not a bad place for sushi especially a little away from the Seattle area. The rolls looked small but luckily, the $60 worth of food had both me and my boyfriend full! read more

Post pandemic, this place is garbage. Their lunch menu is pretty short. Had the chicken katsu don. Cannot recommend. Was basically panko coated chicken on rice with practically no veggies or extras. This is a small remodeled house, as a restaurant. As you come in, you are greeted by the sushi chefs, which makes me feel welcomed. I come here for their lunch specials. I love their Japanese curry dish. Meat, vegetables in a light curry sauce. I also love the sashimi special , that comes with a variety of fresh fish. Not really a roll person, so haven't tried their rolls. Overall, Good quality fish, plus comes with really nice miso soup. Their tempura is good, freshly cooked and a variety of vegetables. I am hooked on getting their fresh sashimi sides, nice quality fish and a good portion. Another lunch favorite is the ugagi bowl. Such sweet eel with a lovely sauce. Saki is available in many different varieties. Probably dropped 50.00 for lunch, but dinner is more expensive. Great choice for fresh fish. read more

At first you might not think it's a restaurant, as it looks like someone's house but inside it's a very homie feeling restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and authentic, which made the restaurant feel cozy. Once we ordered, the food came out really quickly. The fish tasted fresh and it was a good price for what I got. The beer even came with a chilled glass? Which always helps make the beer taste more crisp. Parking can be tough here. They only have a handful of stalls on the side, if not, you have to park further in the neighborhood. Overall, I would recommend this place, especially as there are not many Japanese restaurants in the area. read more

Never had worse sushi. Spicy tuna roll was very fishy, inedible, had to spit it out. The sashimi wasn't even cut through. This rough cut sashimi was just blobs, didn't even cut it. The presentation of the sushi was lovely and staff is doing their best with the available (super charming) space and the line of people. The tables are close set, so at any moment you may hear quite a lot of your neighbors conversation- probably not the place for intimate/private conversations. We got the Sea Lovers Salad, Soft shell crab tempura, and a nigiri set. The tempura was good and the sauce had great flavor. The seaweed part of the salad was really good, unfortunately we got a tragic little dead lettuce bug in there. This concerned me about the food preparation. The nigiri was delayed but when it arrived looked gorgeous- hence all the pics lol. (They did give an extra piece after I mentioned the salad visitor). Unfortunately when I took a piece of salmon nigiri to my lips it was rather warmer than expected. I'm extra careful with raw fish and only go for ones that are noticeably cool (which in my mind connotes that it's safe and fresh). My bf didn't mind the temperature but I was already on high alert with the salad bug incident so I left him to it. He told me later that it was fine, but the flavor wasn't anything to write home about. This is a very cute restaurant that's been here for years with nice staff who are doing their best, but the facilities are showing wear/years of hand prints on the door frame etc and I can't really vouch for our food experience the other day. If you're like my bf and don't mind little food service things like this, and you're looking for a cozy, kind of retro/homey experience this would be a nice stop. read more

Great place for sushi takeout. (May want to opt for takeout as there is limited parking space) We ordered the kiriba roll, pacific roll, spider roll, shoreline roll, and the phoenix roll. We also got a platter of assorted nigiri. Each nigiri had generous portions of fresh fish. If you're a fan of nigiri I'd definitely recommend getting a few here. I'm more of a roll fan and so I'm more inclined to rave about their different rolls. Their rolls taste extremely clean. The flavor of the fish and the complementing vegetables inside are never overpowered by too much sauce. Their control of their sauce really allows each ingredient to shine, making each roll taste distinct. :) And when I order multiple rolls, it's important that I get that variety. The rolls are also nicely presented. Even in a takeout box they held their shape nicely. Kiriba Roll - a roll with shrimp tempura, cucumbers inside and seared salmon on top. This roll melted in my mouth. The seared salmon and the shrimp tempura provided a warmth to the roll that I quite frankly enjoyed. Pacific Roll - This is a really interesting roll with a lot going on. A fried calamari, smoked salmon, and avocado roll, topped with hamachi and tuna. I was a bit hesitant because I'm not a huge fan of wasabi sauces. But the wasabi flavor is light in comparison to the rest of the flavors. Spider Roll - dont let the 5 pieces fool you. This roll is about as much food as all the other rolls if not more. In this roll the crab is the main star. They have real crab meat, which is great but could also make the roll saltier than a what you'd expect from a typical roll. Shoreline Roll - with its tempura shrimp and salmon this roll is similar to the kiriba roll. The salmon on the shoreline is smoked instead of seared and the roll is topped off w spicy and unagi sauce to add a bit of sweetness. I'd definitely come here again. This is a very popular sushi joint and for a good reason: freshness and quality! The restaurant itself is small and although 3 servers were working but service could be a little spotty as they are incredibly busy, they do try to check on you as often as they can while trying to keep up on the busy-ness and also managing their takeout orders. We stopped on a Monday night and it was packed but thankfully they had one table booth available and we were walked to our seat. We started off with their Sea Lovers Salad which is their assorted chopped fish (tuna and salmon), seaweed on a bed of lettuce with ginger shoyu dressing. We then got the Seared Salmon Toro Nigiri and Spicy Scallop Gunkanmaki. The salmon toro nigiri was amazing, even better than my expectation. The toro toro (fatty belly) was so buttery tender and just melt in my mouth. The scallop gunkanmaki was also delicious, tender and creamy. We then shared their Tsunami Roll and Phoenix Roll. The Tsunami Roll has broiled eel, jalapeno, that's layered with shrimp and avocado then topped with spicy mayo and sriracha sauce. We enjoyed the heat from the sauce, really like this roll! The table next to us eyed on this roll and just had to order the Tsunami Roll as well. The Phoenix Roll is also as enjoyable though! It's a fresh-salmon with tuna and cucumber roll that's topped with real crab meat then drizzled with spicy mayo and a sprinkle of tobiko. Delicious!! Everything was just simply fresh and delicious, and you can tell they take quality seriously here. It's easy to see even though they're operating from an unassuming cute little house, they remain one of the most popular sushi spot in the greater Seattle area. If you're in the neighborhood and in the mood for really good sushi, head here immediately and you will leave happy and fulfilled. read more

Came here on a Thursday evening. There was a long wait to be seated and the restaurant was packed. I dont think the rolls are that good. I think they were sloppily rolled to the point where the rice did not hold their shape well. It just unraveled as i picked them up. One of the eel rolls made me feel not the best after eating it. Kind of nauseous. Perhaps there were too many things going on in the roll and my body couldn't handle it or something in the food was slightly off. I could have just gone on a very busy time. The nigiri were pretty good. It is just fish and rice. The rice held together better than in the rolls which was surprising but also sad. Fish tasted fine. The highlight of the meal was the appetizer. I like fried calamari and whoever did the frying did an excellent job. This sushi place is probably average at best. I am not a picky sushi person either. Kiriba is a small, tidy, welcoming house that's been transformed into a sushi bar & grill, situated at the city limit in the Greenwood neighborhood. The staff was welcoming and prompt, attentive without coming over to interrupt your meal and conversation every ten minutes. My wife had the chicken katsu don and it was by far the best she'd ever had, bar none. Her gyoza were crispy on the outside yet succulent on the inside. It being my birthday, I ordered the chef's sushi selection of nigiri, a spicy tuna roll, a couple of a la carte items, and the Snow Beauty nigori sake. The cuts of fish on the nigiri were nicely thick, the gunkanmaki were tall and generous, and the uramaki was well constructed and had a nice combination of crunchy and tender textures. The rice was very good, cohesive and subtly sweet. *All* of the fish presented was excellent, with good texture, appearance, and flavor. The saba was lightly marinated so as not to overpower the flavor, and the unagi was succulent and well-sauced. If Kiriba has a flaw, it's the limited parking space, but there's a residential street on one side where overflow patrons can find a place to park. Overall, one of the better sushi places in North Seattle. read more

Ended up here recently after learning it's a friend's regular sushi spot. Cute and cozy house-turned-restaurant. You'll feel like you're being hosted in someone's home. Very popular at dinner so glad we arrived early. We were seated right away, but there was a steady stream after us waiting for tables and for pick-up orders. Staff was pleasant and recommended a good sake for us. My friend and I both ordered miso to start and shared seaweed salad and three rolls. All was delicious -- fresh and flavorful. I brought home a chicken yakisoba for J. which he said was good. Prices were reasonable. Parking was easy in their designated side lot. Looking for a quick bite to eat, I resorted on Yelp to look for a sushi place nearby. Kiriba was one of the first places to pop up on my list so I decided to explore their menu and give them a try. The rolls listed on their menu was nothing special and their pricing was a little higher than average. Nonetheless, I ordered the Phoenix roll and my sister ordered the Rainbow roll. Upon arrival, the place is a little small and eccentric to say the least. Located on 145th St., parking was very limited and difficult to navigate. My first impressions upon entering this establishment was that it looked like a converted house. The staff was very friendly and greeted me immediately. I then proceeded to give them my name and the hostess shuffled through several orders placed on the table beside her to look for mine. She then confirmed my name and handed me my order. The rolls were packed together, which was not what I would have preferred since the sauce from the Phoenix Roll seeped into the Rainbow Roll. Nonetheless, they were pretty average. But this past Friday, we decided to wait for a table, 20 min wait, and it was a great dinner and worth it! Parking: has always been full. They have a few, like 4-5 spots, in front of the restaurant, and them more along the side. But it seems to always be full. I parked further down the street. Wish they had better parking! We ordered: - Takoyaki - seaweed salad - edemame - Red Dragon Roll - a roll with shrimp tempura in it - another roll that had a smoked fish in it The takoyaki was delicious! I am always excited when there is takoyaki on the menu! I really enjoyed my Red Dragon Roll that had spicy tuna inside and tuna on top. Out of the 3 rolls we had my least favorite was the smoked fish one, I think I prefer my fish raw. Plus it had too much Sriracha on it. Have done takeout a couple of times (ordered via Postmates for pick up, didn't look like they had their own website for ordering). Really like the Pacific roll; unique with the fried calamari crunch. The Phoenix roll is also great. Have also tried the Red Dragon roll but I was a little underwhelmed? I'd take the other two over that any day. Fish has always seemed fresh even with it being takeout. Have tried a few other items on the menu that aren't sushi for the kids - chicken karaage, gyoza - have all been consistently good. Tiny little place and can get super busy fast, so I've appreciated that they do take out. Parking is tough so often we've had to park a bit further on the street, or across the street, but it's not impossible to find something. Just a heads up, I suspect this is likely due to high demand and using a third party app, but our order is never ready when the app says it is. We've always had to wait another 10ish minutes after arriving. Not a huge deal to us and a trade off since we use Postmates in our mind (I prefer ordering online direct through restaurants whenever possible) but just an fyi to set your expectations. read more

Kiriba is me & my partner's go-to sushi spot in the area (we live in Edmonds). Their featured rolls are great, we especially enjoy the Washington roll, and Poki roll. In recent months, we've started opting for nigiri or Chirashi bowls instead. Both are delicious. Highly recommend the seared salmon nigiri. I most commonly get takeout or delivery from Kiriba these days, but have dined-in the restaurant pre-pandemic. The inside of the restaurant is a smaller sized with humble but cozy setting. Came here for dinner and ordered: Pacific Roll: Highly recommend this roll since it's a bit different from the typical rolls. Loaded with fried calamari, smoked salmon, avocado, hamachi, and tuna, this roll is quite the mouthful when you bite into it. Love it! Nigiri: Overall, everything tasted relatively fresh and portion sized was good. Had the salmon, seared salmon, eel, and tamago. Mayo crab meat: Not a fan of this dish....too much mayo and not enough texture of the crab meat Miso Soup: fairly tasty! Not too salty nor bland. Definitely would suggest eating this with your yummy sushi As for service, staff was pretty friendly. The wait time was a bit long for the food.
