Food is always great here! Make sure you make a resy because wait times are long. Their service is ok and the dining area upstairs is extremely hot. Lychee iced tea was very good. I always order the omurice.

This is my classic go-to brunch spot on the weekends. It's a casual restaurant with indoor, outdoor, and upstairs seating. There is usually a wait but you can put your name down on the waitlist via Yelp to shorten the wait. I've tried the hot matcha and ube latte with oat milk here and enjoyed both. For food, I enjoyed the yuzu salmon Benedict and Korean fried chicken with waffles. It's a Korean fusion spot with huge portions and decent pricing. Would recommend giving them a try if you're in the area craving a neighborhood brunch-y type food spot with quick service.

Amazing food. Called to reserve a table for 10 on a Saturday morning one week in advance. They were able to accommodate us. Please be aware that there may be people reserved after if you are also reserving a table. We had to leave 1.5 hrs after and they did rush us to get our orders. The food was amazing though. I didn't think any one of us had complaints. We all loved the mango margarita. I particularly enjoyed the tornado omurice, they were also able to sub tofu for beef for my friend with food restrictions.

SOOOOOOO BUMMED OUT THEY CLOSED DOWN. this place had the best bacon I've ever tried before, their Thai tea and Ube Matcha was delicious as well. The service here was really nice and very accommodating, I also found it really cute how they had a bookshelf inside too. The stuffed French toast was amazing. Wish I could get it again, I would just have to take the trip to Oakland instead.

Came to kitchen story as I've heard so much good stuff about Kitchen. Let's start with how delicious the lemon ricotta pancake was. I ended up having the sailor scramble which is salmon eggs, shrimp with potatoes. Tried the delicious Korean fried chicken and waffles as well. Service was quick and friendly. The waitress answered all of our questions. The ambiance is nice for morning breakfast. Tables fill up fast so I would make a reservation.

Arrived around 9:10 on Sunday morning and we got the last table! I ordered the Franciscan Scramble and a latte. The Scramble was delicious with its fresh ingredients nicely cooked. My only complaint is that in my scramble there were only two tiny pieces of a mango sausage -- not even 1/2 of a sausage total! What I received was almost entirely vegetarian. For the money, I expected more of the sausage component.

Started with the spicy mango mimosa, and was impressed with the balanced flavor. The yukon potatoes and millionaire bacon is also worth returning for and we shared the mascarpone french toast! The service was attentive but not overbearing.

I definitely recommend making a reservation for brunch on the weekends as it can get quite crowded! The booths are nice, and the portion sizes are pretty good. They have a pretty large menu with some yummy drinks as well!

Millionaire's Way Lychee Iced Tea fresh Raspberry Lemonade

This is the best breakfast place in the Bay! We started off with the Lychee Tea 10/10 and the raspberry lemonade 8/10. We got the millionaires way, biscuit 10/10 fluffiest and softest biscuit I've ever had. It melted in my mouth. Bacon has a savory, sweet sauce that was addicting. My husband got the Gogi bowl 9.5/10, it was very flavorful and not overly salted or seasoned. I got the Korean FC and Waffles 8.5/10 the chicken was slightly overcooked, but the flavor was good. The waffles were a 10/10, sweet and fluffy. The adobo syrup was a 2/10, not for me.

We visited Kitchen Story for a spontaneous Mother's Day brunch. I will say this is a popular brunch spot, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. We arrived shortly after 10am and our wait was just under 30 minutes. The restaurant is cozy (on the smaller side) but has an interesting layout. There's seating both indoors, outside, and upstairs. You may have to squeeze by a few tables to make your way to the restroom. Customer service was friendly and attentive. Pricing for food & drinks was a bit high. Our total for 2 entrees and 2 drinks was $60 before tip. We ordered two drinks (orange juice and an iced mocha) which were provided promptly. The orange juice was a little too sour and my mom had to add some sugar to improve the taste. The iced mocha was good, not too sweet. One thing to note the wait for our food took much longer than expected, and it may have been due to how busy it was. My mom opted to order the salmon yuzu benedict and I got an egg plate (scrambled eggs) with a side green salad. My mom mentioned the potatoes lacking salt but she enjoyed the salmon benedict. I thought the scrambled eggs were good, but slightly bland & needed salt and pepper. The side green salad was alright, but the vinaigrette had a bitter aftertaste. Overall, the meal was pretty good and timing wasn't the best. I'd likely return for brunch on a non-peak day. Definitely recommend joining the yelp waitlist prior to arriving if you can!

Living down the block for years this is the first time I've been to kitchen story. The weekends when I would drive by seems like there's always a lot of people here so I made a reservation reservations online and you have the option to choose if you want to sit outside inside or upstairs. I reserved for three to sit in the main dining room. The next day we arrived right on time for our reservation and still had to wait about 10-15 minutes and was asked if we could sit outside and then we were seated upstairs. I was a little bummed we didn't get to sit in the lower dining room like I booked on our reservations. It was still cute upstairs and good company always makes brunch even better. The servers were quick and helpful. I wanted something light so I just ordered the chicken and waffle bites. My husband got French toast and a side of chicken and my friend got a main entrée of a sandwich with some fries and a little soup. All of the food that came out looked amazing even at other people's tables. For brunch, the price is a little pricey, but I would like to come back to try other entrées when I'm more hungry. We asked one of our servers if he had a light as I brought a little candle to celebrate my friend's birthday, and as he lit it, he also decided to join in with us as we sang happy birthday, which I thought was really sweet. He did not have to do. He even got other tables around us to sing happy birthday as well. It felt like a special moment for my friend, which was a nice surprise. I did really appreciate this part and look forward to coming back.

So let's start for the DINNER session, upon entering the place has a warm Vibe which was nice . we were given a menu that was appeared to be a file folder how extravagant . Our waiter was very pleasant and helped us when needed . Now I've eaten a lot of food in my life to know what's flavor and what isn't. Means my tastebuds work . So we start off with a popcorn chicken. It's cute we have a rock hard crispy fried chicken with waffle bites in which every bite was slightly dry and a contains a hint of sugar crumbs within it which made it quite a sweet treat and to add to the sweetness,the maple syrup. A appetizer that I found more of a dessert than savory . now for a fusion restaurant these flavors were quite difficult to understand but open minded as I am we head further in this mysterious abyss. I had a Jjapspguri the presentation looked better than it tasted . Yeah I know ? How fooled I was to think it looked so tasty when in fact the first bite was a boring taste . The noodles looked marinated in soy and textured nicely but the flavor the most important aspect in food did not exist. Already $34 in the food was boring .. there was no flavor the only thing was elevated my taste buds was the spicy side . And all I can think of is that I paid $17 for a kick of pain ? So okay these reviews are harsh so we try other items like the dancing queen . I was expecting a mouthwatering dish that will bring me to pleasure . Boy I wish I was so wrong after paying $24 to try . it was okay ... it wasn't even worth to criticize anymore as the presentation was at its weak point. I didn't know my steak was pre cut for me . I must respect the chef for doing all the hard work for me . But was I paying someone to pre digest my food for me? No , I paid for a tasty dish that will rock my world and it just went downhill . I tried another dish as well during my stay . It was the clay belly pot , which wasn't too bad but for $16 u failed to wow me again .. but overall experience food was just terrible . But to pay so much for food that isn't food i will never come back , thank you for the meal read more

This place is a gem in san francisco. There is usually a line outside during the weekend and they won't take reservations. It's best to get there around 10:30 and before 11:30. Every single item on their menu is delicious. Make sure you try their famous bacons. No bottomless mimosa but it's very good. Prices are a little high for brunch but it's san francisco you are expected to pay for the premium. Overall eating here is a must whether you are visiting sf or live in the bay area. Make sure you try their mascarpone stuffed deep fried french toast if you have a sweet tooth. read more

5 STARS ALL AROUND. Food is bomb. Seriously, it's a local brunch spot for a reason, especially in the Bay where it's good food galore. Remember to schedule in like 20 mins (give or take) for seating and what not, but the area is so cute you won't even mind. ONLY complaint: The inside gets a little noisy. We tried the weekend brunch at Kitchen Story in Oakland for the first time. The menu is reminiscent to The Social Club in Berkeley, so maybe they have the same owner? The wait time to get our food was fairly long. He had 3 refills of coffee before the food arrived. We had - Bay Bottom Soufflegg Skillet: IG-worthy, but not much flavor. Wish the actual egg was seasoned, or had some sauce at the bottom. $25. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: delicious, highly recommended. $15. Vegan Delight Scramble: small entree for the price, but the seasoning was very good. $17. Regular coffee: multiple refills were fast and generous. $4. Breakfast Soy Latte: not bad, but lighter than expected. Wish I could taste the cardamom better. $5. He asked for extra toasted bread/toast. Waitress heard extra toast. Definitely a better experience then my last time here. I will say that the customer service aspect of things was a bit off.. (food broght with no silverware & had to wait a bit, forgot water) but our server explained that there was lack of staff due to covid. So I completely understood. Overall the food was amazing just very small in size for the appetizers. I will give this place a solid 7/10 for a great brunch date. I still Wouldn't recommend if you were trying to impress someone but all in all it is a nice breakfast spot. read more

I was visiting my daughter in Oakland where she is a college student and wanted to take her out for a yummy lunch. I Looked on Yelp for a good brunch lunch place and found kitchen story. The place is cute with a nice patio out front. I was disappointed with the service. We were asked to wait despite a lot of tables available both inside and out. When we got seated there was waiting again to order and then even more of wait to get our food. We ordered the chicken and waffles, the instant noodle dish, a scramble and omurice. The best dish by far was the omurice. It was AMAZING! If not for the service would I venture to come again to try something else, possible. I tried Kitchen Story for the first time yesterday. The food was 5 stars but it had a short straight grey hair in it. I have long curly black hair, so no way it came from me. I don't get disgusted easily but the hair did it for me. P.s. the food was so good I tried eating it even after removing the hair but I couldn't do it. First time in a while I have given out a 5 star recommendation. I keep coming back just to try new dishes that I saw while eating. So far the mascarpone French toast, the millionaire's bacon and the chicken and waffles are my favorite. The 3 flavors of all you can drink mimosas for an hour are also amazing. read more

Can't wait to go here again! I was here for lunch on a Saturday and ended up waiting around 40 minutes to be seated (30 minutes if we were okay with sitting at the bar). Definitely worth the wait! Everything was delicious! We ordered the jjapaguri, tornado galbi omurice, and the blackstone benedict. Thought it was very cool that the jjapaguri was inspired by Parasite! The noodles were surprisingly a very big portion, and I could only finish half the dish. The millionaire's bacon was the star of the dish in my opinion, otherwise it would have felt like I was just eating instant ramen. I think the omurice was my favorite, as its sauce was unbeatable! Next time I come, I'd stick with the omurice although you really can't go wrong with any of their dishes! read more

The food and service was exceptional! My bf got the kfc & waffles along with a grapefruit mimosa. The chicken was *chef's kiss* !! I rarely eat cauliflower but since it was fried, it was pretty good. The waffles were decent, but hard to cut. I ordered the stuffed street flapjacks and a green tea latte. That latte was so good I didn't mind burning my tongue. I never usually finish my food in one sitting but our food was yummy that I didn't need to take it back home. My Korean style pancakes were hard to cut up as well so I just ate it like I would a cookie. Still was super yummy! I even ate the fruits. Probably because of the powdered sugar lol. I made the flapjacks a meal so I could try out the Millionaire's bacon. I'm glad I did. The brown sugar made the bacon feel like it was melting in my mouth. I love over easy eggs and most places I've been to either makes it OVERLY over easy or on its way to being over medium. Kitchen story made it perfect to the point that I don't spill my yolk everywhere. We were seated outside but still covered from the sun. One side was a bench and the other a chair. It really felt like we were inside! Idk what it's called but the outdoor receptacle was made from all wood. It's pretty :) I think I saw some people dining inside but at a capacity. I'd definitely would like to eat outside if the weather permits. There were only two servers/waitresses and it was pretty busy but it didn't take long to get our food after ordering. read more

Everything we had here was delicious! Tried the galbi rolls and bao buns to start. Would recommend both! Then had the stonepot with chicken and fried egg and the noodle dish (not sure how to spell it lol) both amazing! Definitely want to come back for brunch. Also the service was great. Amazing food but the way the staff makes you feel uncomfortable to get you to leave quickly (even while you're still eating) is a huge deterrent. If you don't mind chaos, reservations not being honored, and being brought a check 3 times by 3 different servers than go because it's great food. Just accept the rudeness and that making money is more important than customer experience read more

I'm a consultant for a biz nearby so I often walk past and a crowd or a line for a table is a common sight. Today I had a little time so I ordered ahead and pick up was about 40 minutes than grub hub had estimated so I was very happy. I asked if I could eat at one of their tables and they graciously said yes bringing me silverware and water to boot. I ordered the sprout bibimbap with chicken. Yummy treat. We arrived for brunch just after 10AM. After a fairly short wait, we were seated at a booth. Water came out fast. After that, nothing was fast or good. We waited, and waited and waited to place our order. After 10 minutes, someone wandered over and asked if anyone had taken our order yet (wrong question). We placed our order, and then waited and waited. We ordered two starters and three entrees. The food trickled out over the next half hour. One starter and one entree. A few minutes later, another entree. A few minutes later the second starter. The last entree never showed up. We asked when it would be out, and the server dismissed our question with a rushed "its coming". We finished all the food, and still nothing. We decided to cut our losses and told them to cancel the entree. They acted as if they were doing us a huge favor by allowing us to cancel the order, despite it being over 30 minutes since it was placed, with still nothing served. A few half serious apologies, but other than that they made no effort to make things right. And then the actual food that we did get? Most of it was cold, bland and mediocre. We really wanted to like this place, but service was terrible, food was disappointing, and that adds up to two stars. I see several other reviews posted over the last 24 hours with similar problems. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything you order. One of my favorite parts is watching them make the noodles by hand. Half the restaurant is dedicated to the noodle-making station, while the other half is for seating. It's not a huge dining room, but they do offer the Yelp Waitlist, so you can check the live wait before heading over. The vibe is very, get your food and head out so they can keep up with table space for incoming guests. Always a hit, never a miss.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by an Asian server named Ed, who informed us that we needed to input our names into the tablet for seating. After waiting for approximately 30 minutes, we approached the staff to inform them that we were ready to be seated. To our surprise, we were told that we needed all four members of our party present to be seated at a table for four, despite being only three at the time. Despite explaining that my sister was parking the car and that my pregnant wife and elderly mother needed to sit due to health concerns, we were rudely told to wait for the fourth person.Once my sister arrived, we waited an additional 35 minutes to be attended to. My wife, who was feeling lightheaded due to her pregnancy, asked for a soda, only to be told to wait. The service was incredibly poor, and to add insult to injury, we discovered that a 20% service charge was automatically included in the bill, regardless of the quality of service received.Overall, my experience at Kitchen Story Oakland was highly disappointing. The lack of consideration for guests' needs and the poor service overshadowed any positive aspects of the meal. This place used to be really good (like a couple years ago), but I'm not too sure what happened. Upon arrival it feels awkward standing at the entrance waiting to get a table, yet no one is even acknowledging you. I saw that the staff was busy serving tables, however it would be nice to say "I will be with you guys shortly" so we at least know that we were noticed while walking in. I usually get the avocado toast and it's always good & consistent. I occasionally get a matcha latte but I barely tasted any matcha this time, just tasted more like milk. My boyfriend wanted to try the Korean fried chicken and waffles, this one was disappointing. Chicken didn't really have any flavor and the waffle was tough and dry. The only "flavor" you really get is from the maple syrup. And also, we were really never checked on during our meal. I don't know if the other Kitchen Story locations are like this, or maybe the recipes got changed? Whatever the issue is, I hope they get it fixed. read more

I recently stopped by Kitchen Story on College Avenue in Rockridge for a Sunday brunch, and overall, it was a pretty good experience! The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed weekend meal. I decided to try their famous millionaires bacon and chicken and waffles. The millionaires bacon definitely lived up to its name--thick, sweet, and smoky, it was a real treat! The chicken and waffles were also enjoyable; the chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the waffles had a nice texture. One thing I can't overlook is how beautifully presented each dish was. They were definitely Instagram-worthy, and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos before digging in! My only complaint would be the wait time. When we finished our meal and asked our waitress (a female with shoulder-length hair and glasses) if we could split the check, she became upset and responded in a rude manner, saying "No, we don't do that." My husband attempted to explain that it was just the two of us, but she still appeared unhappy. After talking to someone else, she returned to our table and slammed the bill down, instructing us to "circle what you had." While we would have been fine with a simple refusal, her attitude and tone of voice were unacceptable. She even snatched the receipt from my husband's hand before splitting the bill. I am a big fan of Kitchen story SF so I had to try it!! thought the menu would be similar, but it was quite different menu. I tried Galbi roll, Kurry up, Galbi omurice. Galbi roll was a surprise. Korean style bbq galbi with thin sliced green onion and sesame sauce was the point. Kurry up, the curry tastes like Japanese, but the chicken tastes like Korean fried chicken. i can eat this everyday!! The restaurant has such a cozy, homey feeling that makes it perfect for a relaxed family breakfast. The food is always good, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it just feels like one of those neighborhood places that has been part of the community forever. One of my favorite things is coming when the farmers market is outside. After breakfast, we can walk around Montclair, browse the market, and make a whole morning out of it. Some restaurants you love because of the food, and some become special because of the memories attached to them. For my family, the Montclair Egg Shop is definitely both.

I lost my little pouch wallet sometime on Friday morning and finally realized Friday evening that it was gone (a strong headache will do that to you). Saturday I got a facebook message that my wallet was found on the street by an employee whom I was later told was Damon. Additional staff also worked together to look me up, find me and reach out to me. I saw the message from Megan today Sunday August 16th and went down to there to pick it up. A very friendly woman greeted me at the podium of the restaurant and she already recognized my face from my ID. I have found people's wallets and helped to get them returned, the fact that people did this for ME had me crying so much before I got there. Thank you to everyone who helped me in this situation, it really means a lot. I appreciate the kindness, care, community spirit and friendliness from the staff at this business.
