I went there last night for the first time, and came away generally impressed. The staff was excellent and very friendly. I had CFS and it was well above average - breading excellent - meat needed more salt (a common failing of most restaurant CFS), My wife had shrimp and grits and it was good as well. We also had the pecan cobbler and it was good I like that the tables aren't crammed in there. Good music, and loud enough to hear talk at your own table, but not at others. I only have two complaints. First, the unshaded lights are too bright. We weren't the only ones squinting. Second, and this was much more noticeable - there was an OVERWHELMING (artificial) scent of vanilla. It smelled like you had walked into a Yankee Candle store and the only fragrance there was vanilla. Really distracting. We will go back. A new welcomed addition to the Montgomery/Conroe area. Restaurant has a very cool decor of kitchen utensils on the walls. Staff was friendly & accommodating. I had the Cornish game hen with a side salad & mashed potatoes. The hen was succulent! The side salad was fresh w/an in house made Ranch dressing. Mashed potatoes were done right. I'd order it again. Husband ordered the lamb shanks but admitted he prefers lamp chops as the shanks are fatter and greasy. But overall his meal was good. Glad they served beer & wine too. We'll be back. read more

Tried out this new place during their "soft opening" on a Saturday (9/16) for lunch. My mom and I split an order of chicken fried chicken with side salad and fries. We were there for quick lunch so we just had water. Restaurant is reasonably priced for the portion size we received. Service was great and attentive. We were pleasantly pleased with the chicken, lightly batter with what seemed like hand battered, flattened fresh chicken breast. Flavor was good and moist. Gravy added just the right tough but not too much to take away from the chicken itself. Shoe string fries were lightly seasoned and addictive. Sliced thin toasted bread was served alongside. The side salad was a bit wilted and lacking freshness. However, as the manager was coming by to each table to check on things we mentioned our dissatisfaction with the salad and he offered to replace with another or different side. We opted not too because we were so full from everything else. As we were leaving the manager stopped us to let us know he had already spoken to the kitchen staff regarding salad and ensured us they are working to get everything perfected. Food was SEASONED well. I ordered the stuffed biscuits. Food came to table cold. Grits had no texture and were the consistency of pudding and So cold butter would not melt. Coffee was very weak. Absolutely love the salmon here! Salmon is a large portion, moist, and full of flavor. In addition, the spinach artichoke appetizer is amazing with the buttered bread! I was however underwhelmed with the pot roast & chicken fried steak when I tried both of those. read more

While the server was very nice, he rarely checked on us and food was extremely slow getting here. Another older couple started to leave when they got tired of waiting. Too long. Catfish was overcooked . Rock hard coating. Chicken on my salad was grilled but flavorless. Great dressing. Ps. The music is fun but it's a restaurant not a dance hall. Not so impressed our first visit! Avocado golden bites were bland, couldn't taste the avacodo. My husband had the onion soup and all you could taste was Worcestershire. I had the shrimp & grits and it was good. Grits were cook perfectly and so was the shrimp. But I definitely have had better. We are still deciding whether we would go back and try again. First time eating here and everything I ordered was delicious. For the appetizer I ordered the caprese, it had a Texas twist to it. My main meal was the chicken salad sandwich and kernel corn. I have decided that I am no longer going to be quiet about places and people that do not welcome people of color. My family and I traveled to Conroe to spend a day blueberry picking. On the way home we decided to stop for lunch. There is no sign that states whites only- there should be a sign that states Trump supporters only. We felt we were in White Hell. The only saving Grace was the biracial waiter who looked white. The white men were visibly angry that three non- white women were eating in this restaurant. They glared at us throughout the time we were there. At first we were too tired to notice. If this was 1960- we would have been taken out back and lynched. People of color BEWARE. Keep on driving right through Conroe. Yup it is 2021 and there are still places like that on our country. You don't need the emotional drama. Let these white folks enjoy their meals without wishing the person of color next to them were not alive. Trump's legacy is alive and well in Conroe and they all gather to eat here. read more

Visiting Montgomery/Conroe area and was looking for a Breakfast spot to find both a delicious meal and somewhat healthy. Kitchen Tales covered both of those needs!!! Update- went back for dinner about 6 months later. AWFUL. I have no idea how you even mess up a French Dip- it tasted as if they started making a meatball sub and then removed meatballs and put some type of shredded roast in it. The flavors were completely wrong. I rarely go to places where the food is inedible, but this is one. I really wanted to love this place because Conroe needs some good restaurants- but this is by far the worst food in conroe ive had. No idea why or how its getting good reviews. Discovered this wonderful kitchen on 105 today. Very reasonably priced and has a bit of everything for all tastes. I just had a lunch special bacon cheeseburger and opted for no sauce or mayo so I could taste the meat. It was fantastic, like fresh off the bbq. Service was excellent as was the facility! They also have an excellent wine selection and sufficient beers. There are plenty of places to eat but put this one on your list. For me it had it all. read more

My wife and I just had the best breakfast we've had in a long time. We ordered the build your own omelette, which came with the choice of potatoes or grits. We chose potatoes, and they were really good. Also came with choice of bread. We chose sourdough, very good as well. My wife ordered the French Toast. I keep coming back here hoping for great meal and getting disappointed each time. This time I thought, perhaps breakfast will be the meal. I ordered a traditional breakfast plate of two eggs, over medium, bacon, sourdough toast, and grits. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the toast was good too, the bacon had a funny taste so I only took the initial bite out of it. The big disappointment was the grits. I put a little butter on it and it barely melted and when I put the spoon it I found a huge lump of grits inside. Setting the lump aside I hazarded a taste and found the consistency was not good. I noted my dissatisfaction to the waiter, and while he apologized he only came back only said that they usually do much better. But alas, that is not true. This is my third time here and each time the meal has left me wondering why did I bother? Next time I won't. I left three stars because at least the eggs and toast were good, but not worth the $8 I paid. read more
