    Popcorn Chicken
    John W.

Kitty's Cafe is a Taiwanese style eatery in the north side of the SGV. We stopped by to grab a quick snack. This used to be Copycat Cafe as a heads-up for those wondering. When you come inside, you'll notice a retro look as there are things that still are in transition from Copycat. But that doesn't mean that the food itself was solid. We ordered a set of popcorn chicken for the road and after about 10 minutes, we got our bag full of popcorn chicken goodies. The chicken was delicious - not too crispy and super flavorful. Had a slightly sweet flavor and was nice and hot. The only thing that would've helped would have been some sweet and sour sauce. At least on the weekend, there's plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The owners are super nice. Know they commented to us that they have been having a tougher time during the pandemic with some lost business around town so they could definitely use the help!

when the lady said they were out of boba and takoyaki I knew the food was going to slap. They make taiwanese food with rice and broccoli l. I got the pork chop. crispy and flavorful. don't let the storefront fool you. the winter melon tea was also very nice and intense. And for the price you can't beat it.

Long read...Okay I by chance found this place. For those that want inexpensive, simple and well rounded meals this is a place to go. It's a mom and pop shop and presentation of the place isn't anything to write about, except for the price for the food you get and the great taste! It seems like this is a hidden, low key, gem of sorts - look at the photo of the two plates. Two plates and a boba drink cost me $20.95!! For the amount of food, comparing this to escalating prices elsewhere, this place is a good value! The way I eat my meals, this is an opportunity to counter act the inflationary aspect of food, possibly a plan is to come in and buy like 10 plates with differing mains based off their menu and throw them into the freezer for the week and microwave what you want to eat. I (me) can get two meals out of a plate so technically I can eat for a work week for a little less than $50! Cash only place!!!

This place use to be Copycat Cafe, but it seems to be renamed now, although retaining the same menu. I use to come at least once a week back in high school, and still come sometimes for their rice bowls and drinks! Affordable, and an all around great place to come for locals. When I visited, they weren't open but I'll be sure to come back another time!

Fb group removed my neither bashing nor negative review, it was an honest review so people can see different point of view!

Somehow my fb pic doesn't show up. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. My comment was removed by fb group called SGV Eats. I know it has nothing to do with the owner. But my comment was not negative nor bashing, was hoping to give honest feedbacks. Very disappointed by the fb group!!! I am posting it here so people can see it. The comment I made on fb was that for the set dinner, there wasn't much difference between the 2 vs 3 vs 4 ppl in terms of amount of food. I don't mind paying more for more food, but if it didn't make much of a difference then I would opt for the cheaper set. At least one other commenter agreed with me. But yet fb group didn't allow me to post anything less than a raving review. I don't want other people to complete believe what the fb group says. Why can't I leave honest review like this? It is to make the owner know what he can do to improve customers' experience!

    Microwaved food

The food here is awful. I ordered Hainan Chicken and it was microwaved and bland. The pork chop is a little better but I would go elsewhere if taste is important to you. Sometimes we find restaurants than look crappy but serve up great food. The food match show this place looks.

I am extremely disappointed in the food quality of this place. I've ordered tons of Taiwanese food deliveries from various places throughout the pandemic, and I have never had such bad experience. Of the food we ordered, we got spoiled Taiwanese sausages, burnt meatballs, burnt fried fish cake, and oyster pancake completely made wrong without gelatin. I will not be returning.

They have daily family meal special. Food was delicious and it came with authentic Cantonese soup. You can use WhatsApp to join their mailing list. 626-348-1338

Thanks Chapresso! I was here about one year ago. Glad to be back to support them again. Very small inside space with limited seating. Shared outside patio seating is also available. Street parking can be found right in front of the shop. For my free drink, I got the Iron Goddess Milk Tea with Agar Boba. In support of biz, I also got the Barley Milk Tea with Mochi Boba per the recommendation of the young man behind the counter. Thanks! I originally asked for no ice on both drinks, but somehow I got both drinks with ice. I was informed they brew their drinks hot so if I don't want ice, I would have to get my drink hot and not cold. I'm not sure if I understand that completely. Hence, I kept the drinks as they were made. They were both flavorful drinks. Iron Goddess Milk Tea is one of their signature drinks and is quite popular. I can taste why. My first time trying Barley Milk Tea and I enjoyed it very much. The barley tea flavor came through quite fragrantly nice. Both are winners! Menu is somewhat small and limited, but I can see myself coming back to try their other unique tea flavors. This was my 3rd boba shop visit and got my 3rd stamp in MySGV Boba Passport. Yay!

I was not disappointed, as the coffee flavor punches through and makes itself very known. One of my favorite sips I've had in a while. The floral latte was really tasty too! My daughter and I came on a Wednesday evening after visiting the excellent Dumpling Wei next door. We were welcomed into a busy, student-filled cafe. The decor is understated, worn, and very student driven, with a charming sign offering a free milk drink to any student who ordered a full meal during a challenging exam week - how kind [+1 point for service]. We ordered from a screen; call me old fashioned, but I like being greeted and the place wasn't busy enough to justify such a streamlined experience. We ordered the original waffle with vanilla ice cream. It took about 10 minutes as we entertained ourselves with the claw machine and got lucky - twice. The waffle was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, with a distinct fortune-cookie flavor. It was delicious, and paired perfectly with the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. We did not get a filling nor try the delectable appearing chocolate waffle - next time! Prices were elevated - $8 for the waffle and $2.50 for the ice cream (complete with whipped cream and chocolate syrup), but the unique product was absolutely delicious. While my undergraduate career was 20 years ago, I really can appreciate a place like this. Were I a student at PCC, I would simply live at this establishment. Good for a quick dessert and perfect for students, Bubble Puff & Tea is well worth a stop. Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 3.5/5

There were quite a few boba shops nearby, but honestly the business name alone caught my attention and made me choose this one. The shop is conveniently located directly across from Pasadena City College, which makes it a great spot for students looking to grab drinks or food between classes. The downside is parking. There's very limited parking in the back and a lot of nearby residential streets have "no parking" signs, so finding a spot can be a little annoying. The shop itself is a decent size and definitely seems popular with students hanging out, studying, or working on assignments. Personally though, the atmosphere didn't feel especially warm or cozy to me compared to some other boba shops I've visited. The layout also felt a bit narrow, which was difficult navigating with my son's stroller. That said, what the shop lacked in atmosphere for me, it definitely made up for with the drinks and food. I ordered a 16 oz jasmine milk tea and even though I had to pay extra for boba (which brought the total to almost $5.50), the drink itself was honestly pretty good. I was also hungry, so I tried the pork buns, which ended up being tasty and surprisingly filling. You get four for around $13. While I do think you could probably get a larger meal elsewhere for the same price, the quality itself was still good. One thing I appreciated is that they have a larger food menu than most boba shops. Besides milk teas and fruit teas, they also offer popcorn chicken, appetizers, soups, rice dishes, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, and even ice cream drinks. Customer service was excellent. The staff were polite, efficient, and kind throughout the visit. Overall, I think this is a solid spot for Pasadena City College students looking for a place to study, hang out with friends, or grab a quick meal and boba. I do think the shop could benefit from adding a little more personality and warmth to the space... maybe board games, student artwork, or more fun décor would help make it feel more inviting and memorable???

Glad they did not disappoint! Nori Fish Sandwich ($15 sandwich only) Decent size, nice and crispy fish filet but tender and juicy on the inside. It's wild caught cod fish - no fishy taste here! The house tartar sauce was delicious, paired with fresh, crunch purple onion pieces, and cheddar cheese. The flavors work so well together! Doesn't make me feel too heavy or sluggish after eating it. They only room for improvement would be to enhance the nori flavor - couldn't taste it that much in the batter. Came on a rainy day, so free regular size (milk) tea with food purchase! Jin Xuan Oolong Milk Tea The tea flavor is super prominent - just how I like it - and it has a nice floral profile to it, kind of like a combo of four seasons tea and osmanthus tea plus oolong.
