This place is horrible. I came here last night with my boyfriend for dinner. We got a few dishes that had spicy tuna and when the dishes came out, it looked nothing like spicy tuna or the photos of the rolls in their menu. The items were super pricey so we made the mistake of eating anyways. At the end of the meal there was a gross fishy taste in our mouths and the color of the tuna on the bottom was gray. We both got food poisoning and have been throwing up since last night. My head is literally pounding. Do not eat here. read more

Cute little sushi place with a really good Omakase. The 10-12 course spread is consistently delicious with different varieties depending on what the specials of the day are. The gyutofu (tofu and Uni) is really nice with a clean finish. If you're doing omakase for a large group, make sure you book it in advance. Stopped in for quick lunch by myself. I ordered the chirashi bowl and was surprised at the quality and subtlety of the meal. The nicest surprise was the little bit of yuzu mixed in with the wasabi which brought an unexpected flavor that was new yet familiar, and complemented well. This is our new favorite place for sushi. We are new to the area so we were in search of a place to get fresh sushi. Our search ended quickly after finding this place. Not only is the sushi good, the ramen is damn good too. Our favorite thing to eat here is the chiragashi sushi bowl. The best part of the employees. The other day, our daughter dropped a doll behind the bench. After 10 minutes of trying, one of the waitress' diligence finally paid off as she was able to pull out the doll like Excaliber! Came by on a Monday afternoon and there was no wait. I love the decor inside. It's classy but casual. We ordered the lunch special sashimi set and the hamachi Kama bento set, both of which were surprisingly tasty. I usually don't expect much from non-Japanese owned Japanese restaurants, however, the fish tasted very fresh and buttery. The hamachi Kama (yellowtail collar) was juicy and not over cooked. Really surprised that a neighborhood sushi restaurant had such good quality fish! On a random weekday for dinner there was actually quite a few people and I think the servers were a slightly overwhelmed. You'll be handed the regular menu, the bar menu that you check off what you want, and the iPad that explains the special rolls in detail with photos. The sushi chefs are Chinese and their accents are a little difficult to understand but the menus explain everything. The chefs seemed really experienced with their knife skills (my amateur basis of comparison is watching tons of youtube sushi cutting videos lol). Also the ambience is quite nice, from the tiling/design/lighting as well as the tablewear was cohesive, which I appreciated as a not so kitsch atmosphere. read more

I'm writing this review not for the food, but for the inexcusable actions that were done to me and my party. The food here is relatively good, especially the spicy tuna and spicy salmon dishes. The food aside, I experienced something I have never experienced before. The specific issue that I faced was that one of the staff members (I don't know who) added an extra roll to our sushi list. At first, I was under the impression that one of my other group members had ordered it but we came to the conclusion that none of us had marked an order for the roll. There was only one person who marked our list before turning it over to a server and they had only marked down 10 Salmon Sashimi, and 2 Spicy Salmon Rolls (besides the specials that were going on for Valentines Day, the servers marked that onto the list - 10 Spicy Tuna Handrolls, 10 Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, and 10 Bluefin Tuna Toro Sashimi). The fact that they added something EXTRA to our list is, in itself, an atrocity and has made me lose faith in this restaurant in terms of ordering anything on their sushi list. The extra roll that they added was $13. It was just a California Roll topped with Spicy Tuna and droplet of what I believe was Sriracha. We didn't argue it off our bill and simply kept the roll but if I can offer any advice, TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR SUSHI LIST BEFORE YOU HAND IT OVER to them so you can justify exactly what you ordered. Even write the date on it each time so they can't claim it's just an old photo. If I ever come back to this restaurant (unlikely at this point), it will be solely for their lunch specials which are well worth the price (Around $15 to $19). read more

Writing this review from the bathroom. Girlfriend and I went over there for dinner. This location has change hands numerous times and decided to give it a chance. The salmon skin salad was tasty aside from the dressing. The sashimi platter A tasted fresh and was a nice mixed blend. The salmon collar was a generous portion with good flavor. This review would have been a 4-5 had we not had immediate stomach issues causing us to skip a movie and spend a good part of the night on the toilet. I may give it a second opportunity but I'll be sure not to have any plans following the meal just to play it on he safe side. read more

This is the kind of a restaurant we are happy to have in our neighborhood cos' it can be a no-brainer go-to place when we need to find a place to eat. The food quality is good, and the lunch specials are good deals with enough varieties and not cutting corners. Found a delicious sushi restaurant with my parents last night. The fish was very fresh. The portions of the fish on the sushi ideally should be bigger (I felt like my salmon was a bit skimpy), but my dad ordered the premium chirashi don and the slices were much thicker there, so maybe that is the best dish to order at this restaurant in terms of quantity (and this dish came with miso soup). Seating is limited, so expect to wait if you come on a weekend evening, but the fish is worth the wait! The wait staff could be improved. One would think since it's a small place the wait staff could manage the tables a little better, but I know good help can be hard to find and I can't fault the restaurant on that when their food is excellent. Will be back to try their other dishes and definitely get the premium chirashi don if you are a sushi lover! read more

We had tarrible food poisoning on last Monday, the first day of our vacation to LA. We had sushimi salad which I am pretty sure how we get sick. Right after dinner, we were all vomiting and diarrhea. Okay, if you are looking for an authentic Japanese ramen place, this is NOT A PLACE FOR YOU, though, I knew they are not before I went. The noodle they have is NOT the Japanese ramen. I mean C'mon at least use the Japanese type of ramen. They actually use Chinese noodle...trust me, you can actually taste the difference. Check-in for a free hand roll is such a great deal! I ordered the salmon bowl and it was surprisingly really filling. A lot of fresh salmon on a bed of sushi rice that comes with miso soup. Finally I found an authentic Japanese restaurant that know how to make sushi and ramen. Premium sushi quality as fresh as the one I ate in Japan. I heard there are people complaining about the sashimi too big in piece. That person are idiot. Everybody know the bigger are better. If you think that is too big, bite in half and finish the rest after you swallow. Or you want them give you a little tiny piece. Then you complain their suisham are too small not worth it for the price. "Idiot". Their ramen are great. They made the soup are just the right thickness. Not too thick and not too light.
