Never expected to find this place in a town where there were several restaurants with the word 'redneck' in their name. Walked into this quaint, yet sophisticated gem and was immediately impressed by the attentiveness of the bartender (Trey). Decided to eat right at the bar (traveling alone) and had no idea what I was in for. First, I couldn't decide what to order - everything on the menu sounded amazing. I ended up (the first night) ordering (don't laugh, I'm a total pig) the lobster roll, the beef carpaccio and the scallops & bleu (oh, and dessert - mapley appley cream-cheesy Belgian waffles). Chef/owner(?) Jared came out to ask how things were. Oh. My. God. Lobster roll was tasty, but nothing crazy unique or mind-blowing - I saved a good 1/2 for my lunch the next day. Then...The scallops - GODDAMN! They were absolutely phenomenal. I think I teared up a bit during the last bite. Then the Beef Carpaccio? Was that even real? It all seemed like a dream... A dream where you're surrounded by unicorns and narwhals and perfectly seared beef and glitter is falling from the sky...and not that coarse glitter crap you use in kindergarten. Oh no. High end, iridescent, gold-flake Martha Stewart glitter, y'all. The beef carpaccio was prepared perfectly - so many flavors that complimented each other. This beef carpaccio was everything. Great selections on menu. We didn't care for one of our choices (poutine- way too much blue cheese and very chewy pieces of meat) and they swapped it for something else- no problem. This restaurant is an awesome place to go for a drink and some really special dishes. We ordered an smoked old fashioned ( the waiter burned cedar and then out the glass on top of it and then pointed out drink into the glass) , the only issue with the old fashioned was the lack of a cherry that I saw some others have so I assume they ran out by the time our drinks were made. After they use up the cedar wood they recycle it in a very awesome way( ask them when you go). Next I ordered fried avocado and and scallops. The fried avocado had some arugula with a semi spicy sauce and two half's of an avocado without the skin fried and topped with a yummy sauce and spices( this dish was amazing!!!) and the scallops were cooked to perfect and topped with bacon blue cheese and some sort of amazing greens and tastes just as amazing as the avocado. Parking is on the street and this restaurant is very small so I would try to call first to make sure you will be able to get in. I did notice I had an issue getting ahold of someone to make reservations via phone and Facebook so that was a sort of issue for me but it's worth it to take a trip down there and have reservations made to just go there and get some of this awesome food read more

Outstanding and original. Hosted a seven person dinner at K&S - staff was extremely attentive and helpful. "Tapas" (although not Spanish!) were very creative and generous. Salmon, lamb meatloaf and pork chops were all outstanding. My guests raves about their meal. Building is old, historic and renovated well. UNREAL. Had a delicious dinner while in the Fairburn area for work. 10000% worth the drive! The restaurant has a welcoming, rustic interior and their menu/drinks menu are I had the Vegetarian Plate entree which was a cauliflower hash with a cream base, blue cheese and assorted vegetables. Flavor was impressive and the whole dish was a work of art. Add a glass of their Tempranillo (healthy pour by the bartender ) and I have nothing but rave reviews for this place. read more

I just came out of the door and I need to write about it. Loved the simplicity of the place and the great atmosphere. The menu had so many creative plates to choose from, all of them sounded delicious!. We had the short rib poutine as an appetizer and it reminded us of our recent trip to Quebec. For the entree I had the chicken and the smoky flavor is a flavor that I only get to experience once a year when I go back to my country, Argentina, and my husband cooks the chicken in a clay oven with certain type of wood. This chicken brought me back to San Rafael, Argentina with every bite and I couldn't be any happier. Also, the bread pudding: WOW. Wanting to celebrate my anniversary with my hubby, it was a very cold night, we were greeted by a not so warm welcome and seated at the window just next to the entrance. Immediately we could feel the effects of poor insulation in the single pane window and the constant rush of cold air coming in from entrance door and hitting us all over. In addition, the entrance door doesn't close properly, my husband had to get up 3 times to close the door and the gentleman at the table next to us had to as well. Having ordered our meal (over $90 worth) I expressed how we were so very cold and asked to be reseated. I was told there was nothing they could do unless we wanted to sit at the bar. After being unable to keep ourselves warm and me being too cold my hubby advised the manager we needed to cancel the order. She said, "the food is almost ready, are you sure you don't want to take it to go?" I declined the offer and we went to Red Lobster. Lacking the authenticity we were looking for on our special night, it had everything that was lacking at Knife and Stone. read more

Those of you who have read my past reviews (do you exist?) know that my wife is both gluten free and vegetarian, a very challenging combination. After Facebook messaging the restaurant, Jared, the owner messaged back that they cooked everything fresh to order and could work around any dietary issue. My wife ordered the fried avocado but with cornmeal rather than tempura. Oh.... my.... god... we both loved it! After reading other reviews, I got the scallops, and they certainly lived up to the reviews! After that, I had the steak poutine (sooooo rich, but the steak was a bit fatty.). My wife ordered a custom "veggie platter" with potatoes done in the smoked butter and garlic sautéed spinach. She LOVED IT! She's also normally a wine drinker. I stick to beer, but she RAVED about the smoked old fashioned. The owner came by the table and told us soon he'll have more fresh veggies from the farmers market and a drink menu refresh! Good food but pricy. I don't mind paying for quality and good service. We had two servers waiting on the two of us. One was very nice. The other seemed distant and bothered. The overall experience was kind of mediocre. I found it odd that they don't serve iced tea-- especially in Georgia; instead they serve juices and soda. Atmosphere was nice. Food was up and down. Yum! Visiting Newnan for business and didn't expect to find such a hip little joint with truly good food. A small restaurant, they were very accommodating to my late call for a reservation. The house was full but they put our 4 top at a big table-which was actually two stainless steel prep tables pushed together. Very cute. We had deep fried avacado-so creamy!, scallop and corn fritters, two great salads, and a few other tapas. The bison tar tar was smooth, tender and delicious. Good wines by the glass. My wife and I were in Newnan for a wedding. I found this place online, looked over the reviews and decided to give it a try. We were so happy we did. Everything we ate in the Chefs Choice course selection was out of this world good. The chef is extremely talented and took the time to explain every course to us. Scallops, venison, smoked salmon and certified angus filet, topped with crabmeat were all indescribably delicious.The Bread Pudding Dessert was like nothing i have ever had before. An excellent replacement for 10 E Washington (which closed due to retirement after many years as the best local restaurant for a special occasion), but a very small space and a little noisy...hence a 4 and not a 5. There are a number of very good restaurants in the Newnan area now and we hope K&S succeed because we are huge fans! Definitely, try a specialty cocktail...well worth the price. read more

What a great place to eat. My family and I celebrated my mother's birthday. The staff was so attentive and the food was phenomenal. There where 10 of us eating and we probably sampled over half the menu, with no complaints. I had the venison tenderloin which was the most tender piece of venison I have ever had. I think a dinner for 25 is truly a good indication of the capability of a restaurant and Knife and Stone did not disappoint. I was planning a special dinner for my son's wedding and Newnan was a good location based on the location of the venue for the wedding. I went to another establishment in Newnan that I found online and it looked like a nice place for the dinner and they could accommodate a dinner for 25 but their response to my request was basically non-existent. After several weeks of leaving messages, and going personally to the restaurant, and not receiving the menus in my in-box as promised, I basically gave up and started a new search. Since Hair Stylists know so much about what is going on I asked mine for suggestions. He suggested Knife and Stone. I am so glad he did! Chef Jarrod and Jessica were great to work with. They made the evening memorable beyond my expectations. Those who ordered grouper (one of the picks) said it was the best they have ever had. The restaurant was perfect for the party! Intimate and cozy with small lanterns on the tables for some mood setting light. I was blown away! We had so much fun thanks to Chef Jarrod, Jessica and the staff. Well done, well done. Really good food, great service, friendly staff. You should make reservations for Friday night. We ate at the bar and it was still lovely. The game of the evening was venison tenderloin and it was better then filet mignon. Tender and tasty with a wonderful sauce and crispy spinach leaves. We had sides of Brussel sprouts cooked in duck fat, asparagus and smashed potatoes. Everything was so amazingly tasty. The bar was well stocked and definitely try the Malbec with the game special. The first time I tried to get a reservation, they were full, but the second time was the charm. Make sure you call at least a day ahead. The front of house staff was very accommodating and sat us right away. We had almost no wait time to get drinks and order food. Similar to other reviews, there were menu items that were not available by the time of our 7:30 seating. That didn't bother me too much, as I'd expect a bit of that with the small size of the kitchen / restaurant and the use of local ingredients. We started with tempura avocado, beef tartare and crab cakes off of the tapas menu. Those of you who are familiar with tapas would be surprised at the portion sizes - they're huge. It's like ordering a regular menu item without the sides. I honestly would have preferred smaller plates, as when I go to a tapas restaurant, I want to taste as many things as my stomach will let me! The prices were very reasonable for the amount of food served. They could easily cut the portions by 50% and the prices by 25%, and still not be exorbitant. As to the food: the avocado was sublime, the tartare is my new favorite dish, and I would not order the crab cakes again (too fishy tasting). After finishing that, we ordered the chicken risotto entree. The menu does not state the chicken is on the bone!!!! I had to go to the bathroom while my hubby cut it off & destroyed the evidence, as I can't stand bones. I let my better three-quarters eat all the chicken, but the risotto was really good! Sadly, we did not have room for dessert, but I wanted to try them all after hearing them described. Next time! If I was able to make suggestions to the chef, I would recommend a lobster mashed potato tapas, and other additions to the tapas menu that make use of the combination of items already on the menu. The wait staff was great: friendly but not intrusive. There were multiple people checking on us and running food. I was very impressed with the organization front of house! Wow! Found Knife and Stone on Yelp with only 6 reviews. All good and understated still. THE BEST restaurant in Newnan (maybe ever)! Great service, original and unique offerings, generous portions, and very reasonable prices. If you want to get away from chains, this is the place. Located in an older building on Perry Street a block off the courthouse square, we went on a quiet Wednesday evening and it was not crowded. They offer well-prepared home-style entrees like (extremely good) meatloaf, but surprise with unusual and great dishes based on fresh elk (!), scallops, and ostrich! The staff is young, attentive, and render great service without being intrusive. I highly recommend Knife and Stone if you like great food and service - and a place where you can comfortably talk and hear your companions. I only hope they are here for the long term and word of mouth gives them huge business. It's hard to find this good of a restaurant in Atlanta that is worth the drive. read more

We went to the Knife and Stone on our anniversary and ordered the scallops with fried spinach and shrimp and grits. The scallops were OK, but had no seasoning, tasted pretty plain and they literally threw spinach in hot oil and served it along with the oil with the scallops...gross. The shrimp were not large, but the grits were pretty good. We both had house wine, and they tasted cheap and we would not order the wine in the future. The servers were very good, but the prices were way too high. Scallops with fried spinach, asparagus and mashed potatoes - no salad, was $36.00. Shrimp and grits alone was $30.00 - no salad. Neither main course has bread at the table - non offered. Average food with no fresh daily specials and high prices, portions so small there are no left overs, all mean this restaurant will be out of business within the year. If there is no serious chef in the kitchen, then customers will seek value and flavor somewhere else. Knife and Stone try to seem upscale with their prices, but if they would concentrate on their food quality/quantity and do at least what other restaurants do (salad and bread on the table) then they should hang sports programing on the wall and serve bar food and call it a day. They are a hole in the wall, but their kitchen chefs are out to lunch. Executive groups are always looking for something new in Newnan, but they won't take their clients to a restaurant where the food doesn't excel. Much work is needed. We miss our favorite restaurant of all time - Hogan's Hero's in Hogansville, but they got caught cooking meth...twice and now out of business. The best local restaurant is Milano's in LaGrange. It's Italian with their special all you can eat bread and marinara sauce on the table and the portions are double that of Knife and Stone - guaranteed to have leftovers for lunch the next day. Milano's average prices were $15-$18 and that came with a great salad! Pizza's were some of the best you'll have this side of New York. Deserts are fantastic there if you are discipline enough to stop eating before you explode. LaGrange is just a short 20 minute ride from Newnan and worth the drive. Go there but don't tell any of your friends...its crowded enough all ready. read more
