I don't work in the area anymore, but I used to work within walking distance from this place. That was a good thing because if you wanted to come here at lunch, you'd have to arrive real early or real late. The parking lot isn't small, but with multiple restaurants in the shopping center and lack of additional restaurants in the surrounding area, the lot would get full pretty fast. On to the pizza..... The pizza here is pretty darn good. It is New York-style pizza and not New York pizza. If you want authentic NY pizza, head on over to Jetblue.com and see if they have a speed flight to Famous Joe's on Carmine. If not, then this will temporarily satisfy your cravings. There is a lunch special that goes on longer than lunch and at only 5 or 6 bucks for 2 slices and a soda, you're getting a tremendous bargain. I'd probably only score this place 3.5 stars, but since i can't do 1/2 stars, I will give them the benefit of the doubt, because they would always keep my stomach in check on those long drives back to Chula Vista. read more

Fairly small place in a strip mall, kind of gets lost with the amount of other choices available. Tried this place on good word of mouth and other yelp reviews. The girl taking orders was absent minded and hated her job. But took our orders well enough. The pizza itself was pretty good, the amount of toppings on each pizza was a little more than other comparable places. The garlic knots were great and cheap. One of the downsides of the pizza is that the crust gets hard when it gets cold. The low star rating is because of the interaction of the workers with each other. Very unprofessional. The older male workers were trying too hard to flirt with the young female worker. Not just for a few minutes, THE ENTIRE time I was eating there. Pizza is great! Service has never been a problem until tonight. The person receiving telephone orders was rude. When asked for a recommendation, the employee refused to give one. At the end of the order the employee stated there has been "extra" conversation that was not necessary for the order. These extra conversations included asking what time Knockout Pizza closed because the employee had been unusually unpleasant. It was almost 9:00 pm and they close at ten. I've worked 14 (FOURTEEN) hour shifts working 3 jobs with 2 of them being in the food service industry. 2. Went there for lunch today, and I have had way better pizza for the price. I ordered three slices of supreme pizza and a drink for $9.00. The pizza had been sitting out for probably 20 minutes or so, which was obvious by the taste. They warm the slices in the oven when you order them, but it's still not the same as fresh pizza. This been for years now my number 1 place to have my beloved New York style Pizza the quality of their ingredients is superb. Is a small place with authentic NY Italian Style Pizza. We needed a place for a group of about 12 people for Saturday night dinner. This place was perfect! The dining room area was not huge, so we made sure we went there early enough to reserve seating and have pizzas ready. We had a special request for a pizza, we asked them to design a pokeball! They looked at the picture, and then looked at me, probably thought I was a little nuts, and then looked back at the picture. "I think we can do that. "My reaction? Ecstatic! Great lunch special. Two slices and a drink for $5.50. They also have regular sweetened tea which is the closest thing i've had to sweet tea. This is your usual NY style pizza joint, they have about 6-7 different style pizza's ready to heat for the lunch special. 80% of the time they have my favorite artichoke/marinara slice. Usually the pizza is pre-made by the previous days popular choices. So i encourage everyone to try the artichoke so they'll make it everyday. Yea yeah, I'm pretty selfish. Way too much emphasis on the bare bones concept. I came in around 5pm on a weekday for a quick after work bite, before moving on to my evening activities. For a place that's located in a busy corporate/research area, it was surprisingly empty. Almost everything was sold out, and no effort made to replenish the supplies. There was nothing to eat, if ordering by the slice. In the entire shop, only three very stale slices were available to eat. My co-workers introduced me to this place and whenever we get pizza for the office this is where we order from. I'm not normally a pizza lover or should I say, I wasn't until I started having knockout pizza with pepperoni and jalapeno, but now I find myself craving it, even when I'm far away from Mira Mesa I've asked Domino's to make it that way! Today was my first experience actually eating there and it was a very pleasant one. The two gentlemen working there were very nice and friendly. They had a pepperoni pizza and they were able to add jalapenos for the two slice lunch special and a drink for $7. There is also free Wi-Fi and I double-checked before I refilled my cup before leaving asking if refills were okay and they said absolutely "have a good day and see you soon." Also, few bites into my meal the manager asked myself and another customer what the verdict was and if we would come back again. We both said yes and he said he was happy to hear it! It's not often you feel appreciated as a customer anymore, especially at a pizzeria, during lunch, and this is one of the few places I found lately that expressed gratitude for their customers. Also the gentleman that asked what the verdict was seem to be genuinely interested in doing a good job which is refreshing! I've seen this place years ago and never stopped in. Been to too many mom and pops pizza shops that served mediocre pizza. So anyhoo, read some reviews on Yelp, and decided to give it a try. My friend and I went there yesterday and ordered a medium pie. Both of us agreed that the pizza was AwEsOmE! It's been a long time since either one of us have tried pizza this yummy. Crust wasn't too thin or thick. Pizza wasn't very greasy and the ingredients were fresh. The guys working, also provided great customer service. Beware the chicken wings. We went for our second overall visit a few weeks ago. The pizza is good, I'll give them that, but it was our first time ordering wings. All the meat was either pink or dark purple. I've been eating chicken/wings for, well, all my life, and I know what proper chicken meat is supposed to look like. I called and told them the meat looked undercooked, and just got a bunch of condescending "uh huh....mmm hmm...uh huh.." and they proceeded to tell me their wings are fully cooked from their vendor. That's fine and dandy, but that doesn't explain why the meat is purple. If the chicken is twice cooked, and the meat is not a normal color, then there's a bigger issue here. Decent pizza. The cashier was about to give me a big discount...but his manager was standing right there. I received good service. I had takeout. And although I raced to bring the pizza back to watch the MLB Playoffs, it only warm when we ate it. Therefore the pizza was ok not fabulous. I will compensate by giving an extra star for where the pizza probably would have been. My suggestions: Get the BBQ hot wings, but the buffalo. They taste much better. (But the fellas at Knockout spelled it out BQQ. Yes, that sort of thing bothers me.) All in all, this pizza passes the test. Love love this place. 4.5 stars. I used to work in the Mira Mesa area and come here for lunch. I had always gone to the food court, but never tried this place until a coworker asked if I wanted pizza. Hesitant at first, but am a true fan forever. First of all, the employees are super nice. I've never seen them rude to anyone. They even apologize if your pizza 'takes too long' which it doesn't. They are fast and you can see them throwing the pizza dough in the air, so there's absolutely no shady business like Pizza Hut or any pizza chains. The lunch combo - BEST DEAL EVER. $6 for two huge slices of pizza AND a drink? It doesn't get any better than that. My favorite pizza is the pepperoni and mushroom. There are just so many choices to choose from! And when they warm your pizza, it goes back into the oven, NOT a microwave. There are containers of Parmesan cheese and peppers on the counter so you can use as much as you like, although the pizzas do not need it! The only reason I can't give this place a 5 star is because sometimessss, the crust is a bit crispier than I'd like. I found this place when I worked in Sorrento. Great lunch special and good selection of slices. Their pinwheels make a nice little addition on days you are really hungry. Since then I have ordered them a number of times when having dinner with my family in Mira Mesa. They make a good pie and everyone has always been happy. The crust is classic New York thin. This is the kind of review that I hate writing. I like the Mom and Pop places. I live in the area and I want to support local businesses. I try and stay away from chain restaurants. That being said, I was pretty disappointed on Sunday when I went. It was about 2 p.m. I hoped that by waiting to have a late lunch I would not have to wait very long. Boy was I wrong. I have been craving a meatball sub forever. I ordered that and a cheese slice. The kid working the counter could not have been nicer. He offered to warm the cheese slice so that I could eat that while waiting for the sub. He said the sub would take 10 minutes. The cheese slice was good. It was on the small side, but it was tasty. They had the Lakers - Heat game on, so I watched that while I waited. I pretty much caught the entire third quarter of the game. 10 minutes turned into 15 minutes turned into 20 minutes... I kept thinking, this had better be the best damn meatball sub in existence. And it was not like the place was packed. There were only a couple other guys in the place. Plus, how long does it take to cut open a roll, slap some meatballs, sauce and cheese inside and then toss it in the oven? It was well past 20 minutes waiting for my sandwich when I saw something that really irritates me to no end. The sandwich was done, put in a bag and then placed on top of one of the ovens. Where it sat. Three guys were working back there, and no one could be bothered to see that the completed order got to the customer. I had to go to the counter and ask if that was my sandwich on the oven, which it was. I was pretty steamed as I headed home. As for the meatball sub, it was good, not great. It was good enough to satisfy my cravings. The meatballs did not taste like they are freshly made. They were sliced in half and little chewy. The sauce, cheese and roll were all very good though. I did appreciate that the sub was cooked in the oven. So, all in all, I guess the trick here is to call in an order. It is local, so I will probably head back. read more

It's the default pizza place my coworkers and i goto for lunch. it's in a convenient location. they make good pizza by the slice (bronx bomber is my goto slice). they do a $6.50 lunch special, 2 slices and a fountain drink. i guess there's not much more to say. the slices are a little smaller than say, bronx pizza or pauly's. their knots are ok. nothing to write home about. the salads are what you'd expect. i had a sub/hoagie here (the italian hero). it was ok. i asked for extra pepperoncinis, and they charged me $1 and literally gave me only 2 extra pepporoncinis. seriously guys? wtf... not only that, one of the pepperoncinis had the stem still attached, which i was greeted to with an unsuspecting bite. ouch. why'd you do that to me???? actually, i would normally give this place a 4 star, but i'm docking you a point for that. read more

Yummm! I usually only am here during lunch time and the 2 slices + Drink special is fab. I love the pesto one. yumm... It's NY style pizza so its thin and big slices. It's probably the best pizza you can find for that neighborhood. Always ask for the tomato sauce to dip your slices/crust in! It seems rather hidden in the corner of the plaza/center.... but that food court area is really popular weekdays at lunch. read more

We've been ordering from Knocked weekly for years but tonight will be the last time. Phoned in our order as usual, but tonight we got someone obviously new. Order wasn't difficult half Hawaiian and half mushrooms for the kiddos. He repeated the order and we got a Hawaiian with mushrooms!!! Really, not that difficult. We aren't a very picky family so we will just deal with it but... when we called to just let them know of their mistake, the person who answered (who was a familiar voice) told me that's what we ordered!!! Did not take responsibility for their mistake and placed the blame on us! We were not even asking for anything but an appoligy. I stopped here while delivering with ubereats. I got there early while waiting for an order and I decided to try a slice that they have made and waiting! The gentlemen heated it up and it was delicious! The establishment is very clean and smells amazing (I've been in some bad pizza places lol dominoes doesn't smell good). I got a tomato basil and a spinach ricotta slice around 330 on a weekday. I was the only one in there and there was a good verity of slices in the case. This is the type of place that you go to if you're in the area but you likely won't be making a special voyage to eat here. Their special of 2 slices and a drink for $6 is good and their pizza is on par with other New York style chain pizza. As everybody else has mentioned they reheat your slice a la Sbarro and the guys working the counter seem to be pretty authentic New Yorkers. If you're unfamiliar with the type you'll probably think they are rude like one of the other reviewers but they're really just typical New Yorkers. My only real complaint was that I tried to pay for my buddy's pinwheel because that's all he was ordering and I did pay for it, but he didn't realize it and also paid for it.
