We were a group of six showing up for some food and told about a 10 minute wait since the table we were waiting for had just paid their bill. We patiently waited outside with masks until 20 minutes past. We asked the young host (which looked 10-12 years old) and he said, again, about 10 minutes. Every 10 minutes, we would go in and ask for an update and get the same response. After an hour of waiting (yes we kept track of when we first put our name in), we asked if there was a manager we could speak to. The host refused to get the manager, rudely cutting us off as we tried to explain that, as a restaurant, yes you can try to persuade the people at the table to move along. We started getting frustrated with the situation, but never yelled at the host. Shortly after, the manager came storming outside to us, screaming at us that we're rude, they can't do anyone about the people taking over an hour at their table after paying, and that we were never told 10 minutes (we were told 10 minutes four different times within an hour). Right after that, she said we aren't welcome there. We never, ever run into problems at restaurants and always tip very well. They lost out on a $300 party and yelled at us for no reason. I'd suggest an adult runs the front to better deal with situations and move the 10-12 year old to another position. Nothing against him, but a child is not fit as host and the manager should have tried to talk with us about the situation instead of assuming hostility. Would Knot recommend as is. Edit: To the owner commenting. You weren't even there and we never even saw you. You have no idea what happened so you can not form such a hostile opinion of the situation (I'm seeing a pattern since your manager did the same without talking to us). We never "bullied" the host as you claim, we simply asked to talk to the manager. As for persuading them to leave, we did not say "kick them out" as you claim (again, you or the manager weren't even there). There are plenty of subtle ways to go about it as countless other restaurants do. I gladly leave when I realize I took too long after paying and they make the suggestion. It is a business after all. And if not, at least be honest with the wait time. 1 hour for saying 10 minutes is not acceptable anywhere. If anything, you're the transparent one. Any establishment that immediately gets hostile with customers already has a toxic environment. I suggest you actually take the constructive criticism stated in the original review and grow from it instead of the constant hostilities. The many 1 star reviews show a theme. Living just down the road in Traverse City, this was actually the first time we've stopped. We had company from California and Holland, MI and had driven out the Leelanau Peninsula for the powwow in Peshawbestown only to find out we were a day early, so we continued on to Northport and decided to stop in Omena and try our luck at Knot Just a Bar. So glad we did! We had the best server, Caleb, who attended to our every question and request with friendliness and enthusiasm for his menu. We all had fish of one variety or another and were all very happy with our choices. It's so nice to be able to have locally sourced fish from our own waters, such as the perch and whitefish, while sitting outside overlooking the bay. Just beautiful~Even the Canadian sourced smelt was a treat! Best of all was the whitefish pate, with shaved parmesan cheese and warmly toasted pita chips! We devoured it. So good! Local wine is just icing on the cake. Our California friends are world travelers and true foodies and they had nothing but compliments for this place. We'll definitely come here again. read more

Just take a look at Stacey's comment below to see what the owner is like. We ordered a second appetizer but our entrees came before it got to us. The waitress gave us the option to cancel the appetizer order and we agreed, but they added the appetizer we didnt get to the bill anyways. Who charges someone for food they didnt get?!?! We tried to have a conversation with the owner but instead of treating us like human beings, let alone customers, he came out yelling at us, talking over us and not even trying to hear our side of the story. The lack of customer service will surely run your business in the ground and good riddance... P.S. before the owner unprofessionally brings it up, yes, I didnt tip your waitress well. Sorry, but after the slow service and telling us we could remove an order and adding it to the bill anyways, nothing about this service warranted a good tip. We went on a Wednesday evening and the food service and quality was good but the bar was a disappointment. I ordered a Moscow Mule and the bartender first had to run all around to find a pestle, then filled a water glass with ice cubes, and served the drink in the glass instead of a copper cup. I then asked for a Kahlua and cream and he started running around again, finally returning to say that they had no Kahlua and offering some substitute I had never heard of. I then tried a Grasshopper, and was told that they had no blender because they had no space for it. At that point I gave up. They can't make blended drinks, don't carry the most popular coffee liqueur in the country, and don't know where anything is. At least make space for a blender and carry Kahlua. Sheesh. read more

A BIG NO! Bay Harbor is a beautiful place to visit, specially for the fourth of July. My family and I have been there a few times to celebrate with the locals. Unfortunately the bar/restaurant "Knot Just a Bar" doesn't do justice to this beautiful place. It saddens to me to have encountered such unprofessional staff, and not to mention the district manager that currently runs the place. What ever happened to " the customer is always right" and advocating for good customer service? Because the bar is in a luxurious place, it doesn't mean this is a nice to place to eat at- I would say mediocre if that. read more

The food was awesome and the ambience on the back deck is fantastic. But, really, the best part of Knot Just a Bar is Caleb. Since then I've gone back to eat and again, the food was terrific! Desserts are awesomely huge, and even though the yummy syrup dripped through the table onto my leg, that was really my son's fault not Knots. Our server, Mack G. was totes great!!! read more

View was amazing! Had the Whitefish Parmesan which was served with asparagus that was cooked perfectly. Our server Riley did an excellent job. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and even brought a "taste" of one of the pasta sauces to our table to help us make our choices. Everyone in our party was pleased with their food. Beautiful location, and the food was just as explained on the menu and super good! Enjoyed the music box on the wall, as it really turned our trip here into a fun time later in the evening. No stars! The manager of this joint is a hothead who tried to actually fight my husband when he disputed our bill! Unbelievable. Its too bad because its in such a pretty location - but the food and drink are not up to standard, and with the manager being such a jerk, we will not be back. The Knot is our favorite restaurant in Leelanau County! Wonderful view, the food is consistently good, and they have a great selection for drinks. Our waiter, Dylan, was extremely helpful and made our experience that much better. I would recommend one of the cone dinners or fish tacos - but you really can't go wrong! read more
