I'm torn between 4 stars and 3 because it's really good food , with a little bit of a loud inside. The service is pretty good but have yet to see the same server twice . ( they may have turnover problems ) . But for great tasting exciting sushi on the far north side this is our goto. Large menu and good food makes for hard decisions.

Came here to try the sushi so I won't have any opinions on the teppanyaki they offer here but the food was great. Place was clean and nice. Our server I believe his name was Caden, going off of what the receipt said, was so knowledgeable about the menu. He had great recommendations and was super helpful. We started off with Takoyaki and shrimp tempura. The Takoyaki was crispy on the outside which we liked. The shrimp tempura had too much batter so I felt like it wasn't the best but still tasted good with the sauce. We ordered the sushi love boat for 2 and you get to pick a special roll and my bf asked to see more tuna in the sashimi/sushi part of the boat. I chose the salmon lover for the special roll. The chutoro sashimi was buttery. The tuna here was great. I was afraid of it being too fishy like other places I tried but the 3 diff types of tuna they served were all delicious. Caden said if we liked the chutoro then we should get the hand roll but my bf and I were full so we'd come back to try that.

Phenomenal food and service. We wanted to sample a little of everything, so we got a spider roll, a Kobe roll, spicy garlic edamame, and the chicken udon. To say the food was "good" would be an understatement! Food came out hot, fresh, and in large portions. Our server was very attentive- she didn't miss a thing. Well worth the price (which is accurate for the quality)! We will be trying it again to see how consistent it is, but based off tonight's visit, I have no doubts.

I am woefully remiss in writing this review. We have been here several times. Food, service, price. This restaurant hits all three. I am especially impressed with the service. They are exceptionally attentive. I've come here with my entire family taking up an entire teppanyaki grill. Usually it's my wife and me. There's a phenomenal sushi place off 7th Street. Kobe gets their fish from the same purveyor. The board is updated with daily sushi specials I'd strongly recommend it. They can get very busy so we try to get there right at 5 pm when they open

I liked the former establishment, Oiishii, that used to occupy this space but admittedly haven't been back in a while since discovering Mulan. I decided to check this restaurant out since we always like to add on new lunch spots to our rotations. I've been here twice now and my two experiences were drastically so different that I'm not sure I will be back. I was told that they are new owners and the interior has been revamped. The decor is brighter and more welcoming than before. Even the sushi bar has been updated which I always thought it needed to be. The hibachi tables are still there but you can't order from it if you're seated in the main dining room. Bummer, sometimes I don't need the show but want the food. More on that later. My first visit was awesome. They were not too busy so service was good. We were seated promptly and our food came out in a timely manner. They serve soup like Oiishii used to do which was always a pleasant start to the meal. I liked their rainbow naruto roll more than my favorite sushi spot so that was a major plus. The spicy garlic edamame is addicting. My friend enjoyed her food as well. Everything from service to the food was perfect. So I brought another friend the following week to try it out since I enjoyed the first visit so much. I had the most bizarre experience this time. The hostess sat us at the hibachi table instead of the main dining area even though we said we weren't there for the hibachi. More people were seated with us and I kept wondering why we were seated here. There were people that came in after us that got seated in the main dining area. So I'm sitting there eating my sushi appetizers (as my meal) while a full on hibachi show was going on for the other people. My friend didn't even get her chicken fried rice that she ordered. She got teriyaki chicken with fried rice instead. At that point, we were so uncomfortable that we agreed to quickly eat and get out of there. We both agreed that this place will not be added to our lunch rotation.

Our first day in Texas today and we came here for Easter night dinner. My husband had edamame and beef pad Thai, I had chicken and tofu pad Thai with miso soup. We took it to go. The food was eaten within 6 min. Mine was very good. However, my pad Thai noodles tasted simply like thin spaghetti. And my husband said his was just OK and not very moist. My miso soup was so so not very flavorful. One and done

If I could give this place 10 stars , I WOULD! From the host , to the server , to the chef , EVERYONE was friendly and accommodating! No wait what so ever for my drinks or food! We have never had such good service at a place! The place was very nice and had a beautiful design The food was fresh and delicious! We got some of our food to go & was asked if we wanted any of the sauces or drinks to go as well! NEVER been asked instead of always being the one to ask. 10/10 for Food & Service We will definitely be back! So happy to find a new and delicious hibachi restaurant to our new home (Only got a video but hes a screenshot of the chef cooking the food!)

The service was very good constantly removing trash and dirty dishes during the evening. They did a very good job keeping drinks full and never hit the bottom of the glass. We have been here 100x or more with wait times averaging less than 2 mins even on busy evenings. They have not made many changes to their atmosphere during the last couple years but it's average. You will be in and out with good service in less than 2 hours. Overall I would recommend Kyushu as must go to place for Habachi.

Hesitantly we decided to eat before we stopped off at Lowe's and headed back to finish. Stay with me here. We were a little dirty. Not filthy. Not like we had mud all over us but dressed in work out clothes. Super casual. We entered and asked for a booth, The hostess took us to the back end of the booth where there were tables filled with other patrons. I wanted a bit more privacy and asked her to sit one booth back. She said no. Not to be deterred I sit down at the booth we wanted and felt most Comfortable. We wanted some privacy and not have people all around us. The request was to literally sit one booth back...this hostess wasn't having it. She literally demanded we sit at her booth of choice. Today, it became a "I'm not moving". She "slams" the menus and walks off. That behavior had to be addressed. I'm a reasonable person but expect a certain level of customer service. After all the price of eating out....isn't cheap these days and We eat here all the time. In fact, I became the DUKE again when checking in today.... #1 patron! I take great pride in the title. I discussed my frustration with the manager. When I asked to speak with her the hostess pointed to a manager sitting at the table vs going and getting her. Rude was an understatement. The manager didn't seem overly concerned. All said, the food was wonderful. The Tuna Tower (we ask for no rice) needed more avocado. The Pan Seared dumplings Devine as usual and of course the crab Rangoon are other worldly. The spicy bad girl roll was tasty. We added cream cheese. My sister gets her usual....every time. Hibachi Filet mignon, fried rice and Ginger Salad. It's her absolute favorite and she enjoyed every bite. I don't think one person should drive the overall review but today's experience was stressful...The food 5 Stars. Consistent. That said the hostess has influence and today's 1 star review is for her an her alone. We also ran into Lencho. Lencho is the absolute best waiter. Sundays though he works on the hibachi grill side. Bummer. His smile would have turned the experience around. He's that good and we love him. This is the second time where We've not experience the best customer service. Kyushu ownership should take note.....Some southern hospitality goes a long way. Look no further than to Lencho!

We brought a friend here after his recent trip to Japan and he was blown away by the ramen. He said it tasted just like the ramen in Japan. He went back the next day for more. I decided to try the ramen after that and when I mentioned I'm gluten free during ordering, the waitress asked if I wanted rice instead of noodles. If you've been wanting to try this place, I'd definitely recommend arriving early. Parking was probably the most challenging part of the visit. There was a rummage sale happening nearby, so the area was busier than usual. They do have a designated parking lot, but it's very small and fills up quickly. Most people will likely need to rely on street parking, which took a little patience that day. The restaurant itself is tiny, but that's part of the charm. There's a bar area that seats around 10 to 12 people and only a handful of tables. We were a party of three and were seated right away, but I could see larger groups having a harder time finding space together. The tables are also on the smaller side, so once the food starts arriving things can get a little crowded. That said, the food completely lived up to the hype. Everything we ordered was delicious. The chicken karaage was crispy and flavorful, the marinated ribeye was tender and packed with flavor, and my favorite dish of the night was easily the beef yakisoba. We each ordered a starter, three skewers, and a side that our server recommended, and every plate disappeared quickly. The atmosphere felt lively and busy, with Japanese figurines and decorations displayed throughout the restaurant. I overheard another guest mention that it reminded them of places they had visited in Japan, which made me appreciate the attention to detail even more. One thing to note - we were told they don't split bills, which wasn't a problem for our group, but it's something to know ahead of time if you're dining with friends.

Overall, I did enjoy the restaurant, but I think you have to go into it with some insights that…read morewould've been much appreciated if I had them prior to going. First and foremost, the bill cannot be split per an item ordered by an individual. You either split it equally, or it's paid in full. I went to dine with two other individuals, and we all ordered without knowing this which was rather confusing when the check came. Next, while they recommend what you order in select categories, be aware that your food is not going to be coming out in the order with which each the categories sit. We were getting items that were listed in the third category, so what should've been eaten prior to dessert before we got any of the yakitori. The location is downtown so be aware of parking, I recommend coming early, or when they open because it gets full quickly we got there at opening, but there was already a line to get in and eat by the time we were leaving. The restaurant is also relatively small, so leave what you can in the car. We didn't have anywhere to place purses so I ended up sitting with mine behind me. It was also difficult because the plates didn't fit on the table as they brought them out because we weren't eating in the course order. Lastly, remember the name of everything that you get. I ordered mushrooms, shiitake, we got mushrooms dropped to the table, but they weren't the correct ones and that seemed like a bit of an issue. The food was good, I would say the best part was definitely the yakitori, and the main dish items. I could take or leave the appetizers, the tonkatsu wasn't memorable for me, it tasted like the meat wasn't seasoned enough with salt and pepper prior to coating in flour and breadcrumbs. I also think the tonkatsu sauce was a bit bland that sat on top of it and it's something I prefer to have on the side. The highlights my meal were all of the yakitori, I enjoyed the chicken breast, soy ribeye, and shiitake mushrooms. I also liked the beef yakisoba, it's nice that they had the Japanese mayo on the side of it. I think when that's included, it always adds a nice richness. I was also a bit disappointed with the yuzu lemonade since it didn't have dried citrus in it, I'd seen prior. I thought about getting the high ball, but that was because I like the look of it overall so I was happy I didn't. If my friends wanted to go back, I would, but I don't think this is something I'd seek out
