The restaurant was very clean and welcoming. Our orders were taken right away and the chef came right out. He was very nice and entertaining. He kept us laughing the whole time! This is a great local spot when you don't want to go into Kenner/Metairie/New Orleans. We were quickly greeted and seated. I love ordering the Tito's lemon drop martini. While it lacks the sugared rim and has pieces of ice in it, it's made with freshly squeezed lemons and ONLY $6.50. That's a win for me. I'm a regular so I'm pretty familiar with the menu. Sometimes I dine in, other times I get it to go. They had a new item that I wasn't familiar with, which was the spicy edamame. My daughter had the hibachi steak which is a pretty large portion. We also ordered shrimp fried rice, the dragon roll, and the rainbow roll. All were very good and we were stuffed and still took leftovers home. One of my local favorites. read more

I came to this place because my friends hyped it up.... My experience was not great. Maybe it's because I am a hibachi eater. I ordered hibachi chicken & steak. My chicken was hard & dry, so I asked them to remake it. When they did, my chicken was then rubbery. For me the quality of meat was not good. My co-workers told me that they did not have good impressions from last time they visited few years back, but still suggested that we try again to see if any improvements were made. Unfortunately, we did not have any improved evaluations from last time. I ordered 24 piece sashimi plate, wasn't particularly fresh or delicious but not terrible either. Other members said his order wasn't so good. The place looked fairly decent but there seems to be not packed during peak times, but I could be wrong. They had friendly staff from Indonesia. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone that holds great service as necessary for a great experience. Every interaction I had with the wait staff at this restaurant was poor. I came in only wanting lunch, and left to immediately write this review to save someone else from a poor experience. I came to this restaurant for lunch because it is one of the few hibachi restaurants in the area. I walked in and was not greeted. I attempted to get the attention of three different associates while at the hostess stand; one of them walked away, one ignored me while standing at the bar, and the other was on the phone (understandable that she didn't respond, but she could've at least acknowledged me). I sat myself once I realized no one was coming to the hostess stand to greet me. AFTER I sat myself, the associate standing at the bar on her iPhone, that had previousy ignored me, walked up to ask if I would be dining in or picking up. I order my lunch and my drink. My food was delivered, no eye contact, no asking if i needed anything additional. At no point did anyone come to the table to check if the food was OK. I was given my check and my to go box before I had requested either of them. I felt as though I was being rushed. I did not appreciate that as I planned on ordering more food to go. My waitress was very short tempered. To top it all off, I was double charged after specifying that I did not want another drink. When I asked for a refund on the drink that I did not request, another associate came out to perform that refund, and she was also short tempered. For the $50 that I spent on this meal, I'm extremely unhappy with the level of service provided to me. I'm additionally disappointed in the response from the waitstaff. This is one of our local go to places that the entire family loves, especially the kids. They insist on the Hibachi and love how the chefs keep them involved in the egg toss, volcano, and choo choo train lol. The food is quite tasty and the Laplace special can feed two with some to take home. I can honestly admit that I do get the bubble guts after I visit probably because of the greasiness but I can't complain further as again the entire family loves this place. Reasonably priced . They now have online ordering which is great for a lazy day when picking up a great meal is the only errand option. You get a considerable amount of food for the price and my family loves it here. And prices are comparable to other sushi bars we've been to. I had the "Scorpion Roll." the shrimp was a little tough, but overall the roll was good. The "Volcano Roll" my wife ordered did not look like what was described on the menu. We asked the waiter and was assured that that is what it was. She was disappointed with it, but I thought it tasted okay. Service is a bit on the slow side. We had to wait quite a while for our ticket and our drink glasses were empty a bit too long (which isn't good when you have spicy sushi). Being the only place to get sushi in laplace, whenever Im craving sushi I'm forced to come here...when I first started coming 3 years ago I loved it, but as time went on the quality started to get worse. The rice started to become almost stale I guess, it was hard & the rolls are SO SO SMALL! probably the smallest sushi rolls I have ever eaten. So I gradually just stopped coming. I had a craving for sushi the other day & I didn't feel like driving all the way to little Tokyo in metairie, which by the way is THE BEST sushi spot. So I called in for takeout. Surprisingly it was actually pretty good (even though my entire order was wrong) I was just happy not to get stale rice! Sushi rolls are still small & the crawfish did taste bland & fishy, but that's nothing the sriracha & soy sauce can't fix. I'd recommend since it is a "spicy crawfish roll" maybe they should mix the crawfish with sriracha or other spicy seasoning before rolling it instead of just taking it straight out the bag into the roll. It would take out some of the fishy taste. The shrimp tempura is never a dissapointment though... I LIVE FOR the sauce! read more

I accidentally went into this restaurant which is located next to cajun persuasion, a cajun/Vietnamese restaurant I had heard good things about. Hoping for good pho, I found a sushi menu with hibachi offerings. The hibachi steak entree was a plate heaped with a mountain of greasy and bland fried rice (eggs and oil comprising the two discernible ingredients other than rice) and a cowering dribble of meat and vegetables. I also ordered the "traditional Japanese shrimp dumplings". I don't know what store brand, frozen dumplings are considered traditional but these were apparently them. The vinegar served as dipping sauce was a nice touch to put the exclamation point on the overall message of the restaurant, which is "we could care less". I laughed when they offered a to go box. Yesterday I had the Combo 3 sushi off of the lunch menu, and also a Kobe box.... The Combo 3 contained 1 roll of crawfish and 1 roll of snow crab. It was decent enough for the price but I found it to taste like run of the mill sushi that you'd find at a Chinese buffet. It definitely didnt taste as good as Fusion, Fuji or Cherry Blossom in Metairie. I guess for being in LaPlace its acceptable. The Kobe box was a little better but not really anything to brag about. For the $12.00 I expected the rice to be a little warm and soft. This really wasnt the case. I found the rice to be cold and very rigid on the palate. Im not saying that it was terribly bad. I just dont think it was awesomely good. I will probably be back while in LaPlace because they have no other options for Japanese cuisine.... One last note at the time I went there was only 1 table with any people dining. Im not sure if the lack of any crowd is the norm there. Kobe has pretty decent food at a fair price for having little to no compitition in LaPlace. I had the lunch combo #6 which included the tuna roll, crunchy roll, and 2 shrimp tempura. The tuna was definitely a few days old and the crunchy roll wasn't even close to what I am used to. The shrimp tempura, while delicious, was served at room temperature as was the clear soup. The only reason I saw fit to give this place 3 stars instead of 1 is because I had a total of 12 pieces of (subpar, but edible) sushi rolls on their lunch combo for around $11. If you don't have a choice, as I didn't today, this place is ok. If you have the capability to go to another sushi place, I'd recommend it more. read more

I live in the Dallas area but I still call LaPlace home. It seems every time I come back I notice a new gem in my hometown. I took my mother and niece to Kobe Sushi for dinner to celebrate my mother's birthday. We were greeted and seated almost immediately for hibachi. The chef was very friendly and entertaining. He paid great attention to the needs of everyone sitting at the grill. He even went so far as to check on the welfare of a guy coughing at the table. After reading some of the reviews on here, I was concerned about the quality of the food. However, our food was outstanding. Not a complaint was said at the table. I go to Benihana in Dallas all the time. I actually think Kobe Sushi can give them a run for their money. I was disappointed that I forgot to mention it was my mother's birthday. I informed the chef at the end of his demo. We were waiting for the bill when suddenly the lights went off around us. We initially thought we were getting kicked out. Disco lights came on and birthday music played throughout the restaurant. A waitress arrived with dessert and a sparkler. My mother loved it. Kobe made her birthday truly special. read more

We started to order off the lunch menu, but then we're thinking it was the weekend, forgetting it was a holiday and it was actually a weekday and the waitress still let us order the dinner even hearing us talk about all of that. We ordered sushi apps and they were made and then they sat at the counter till our waitress finally came back out from the back with the hibachi dinner. We asked for crunchy to be added to one roll and it was just sprinkled on top and not put in the roll and we were charged for it, which would have been fine if they had actually added it in the roll. They had an up charge for that and the steak, which they didn't tell us about for either. One of my favorite places in LaPlace to eat! The sushi is delicious and pretty reasonably priced. I'm a huge fan of sashimi, and they make some of the best. If you're not a sushi fan, they also have hibachi dinners with chicken and steak and other sorts of seafood (I can't speak to the quality of their hibachi since I'm a sushi girl, but others I've eaten with seem to like it). The employees are also attentive and amicable. A word of warning if you're ordering sake: the large sake is HUGE. I would not recommend ordering it if you have fewer than four people in your dining party. read more
