Saiful Islam, the sales manager (who we've worked with in the past) went above and beyond and is the key to us being repeat customers! I was looking for a new SUV and wanted to try out some different models. The Mazda CX-9 was the first one on my list. I set up an appointment for a test drive with Ben Elrich. He was attentive and professional at no point did I get the stereotypical car salesman pressure. I explained that I had intended to test drive two other companies vehicles before I knew what car I wanted. He completely agreed and had faith that I would be back. He recommended that I come back with my wife so that we so she could test drive the vehicle as well. I didn't have as good an experience at the other dealerships (that I won't mention) and when my wife and our kids came to Mazda she was impressed with how nice the dealership was. We met with Ben again and after her test drive we agreed that the CX-9 was the car for us. We were given a good price with no hidden costs. When I picked up the car I was pressed for time and had to leave faster than I would have liked. Ben suggested I come back so he can go over all the features of the Mazda. He spent close to 40 minutes showing me all the features. He made sure that I didn't leave until I felt comfortable using everything. Long story short: took way too long, cost me way too much, they did a shit job, and have incompetent/dishonest mechanics. Took them an entire month to replace the engine on my car, 3 1/2 weeks was just them sitting around not doing anything, going back and forth with the warranty company, saying they were waiting for them. They obviously had no interest in getting it done. According to my warranty company, Koeppel was inflating the labor time by 3 hours. They said according to Mazda, the process should take 13Hrs including diagnostic, Koeppel charged for 16. Two different stories, I end up footing the bill. An extra $150 worth of parts also magically showed up on my bill and was never mentioned previously. Here's where things get messy: After the last call I had with them telling me my car was ready, they also happen to say "BTW, the battery on your car is dead and it's not charging, we can jump it but the second you turn it off it wont start again". Fair enough I say, the car has been sitting and not used for a month, that happens. So I get my car and drive it out, 2 blocks later, engine light comes on, and O/D off light is flashing. Generally not good things. I bring it right back and I say "engine light and overdrive is flashing", one of the mechanics goes, "thats your battery, there's not enough voltage to power the overdrive and whatever". they clear the error codes unhook their laptop from my car and send me on my way and tell me i need a new battery. Now, i'm not very mechanically inclined so I took my issue on the interwebs and did a little research. Turns out a flashing O/D OFF light is the computer telling you your transmission has a problem. This is a universal signal. How could this mechanic see that and think, "oh...it's battery related...definitely, not because of the work we just did", UNLESS the battery issue was a cover for something else. I replaced my battery and had the same issues. Nothing was wrong with the battery. This also confirms my belief that they put battery lights in your dash for a reason. Well now my car is in the shop, yet again, but not theirs. Turns out the problem is a sensor in the transmission that was perfectly fine when I first brought my car to Koeppel. read more

The service advisor Maria was so kind, helpful understanding.... i came in just to do a wheel alignment and a oil change found out I had some other problems as well but financially I wasn't ready to get it done but they gave me a discount rate so when I'm ready ill be able get it done. Even though this my First time purchase from Koeppel Mazda in Queen, New York, but I feel there look like my favorite place. When I went there I got excellent service from my sale guy Jonathan Stenger and his team, they are so nice and very patient to teach me all knowledge about Mazda, also my sale guy spent a lots of time for my new car service such as arrange car clean, fill gas, inspection and register, etc. When I drive car to home, I found I need more knowledge about this car, when I inquire this information, my favorite sale man give me a lot of instruction and one by one teach me how to manage this new car. Bought my 2014 Mazda CX-5 two months ago and there have already been a number of issues. Bad battery, frozen GPS, missing parts, etc... I've had to take my car into the service center three times so far, which I feel is quite ridiculous for a brand new vehicle. I want to love my new CX-5, but it's causing too many problems so far. boo hoo. However, this rating is for the service center, not the car itself. Everytime the car was taken in to get fixed I've had good experiences with the staff, and especially the assistant manager Michael. He has been extremely fair in fixing my car's problems and was very apologetic even though it's not really his fault. I've dropped my car off in the morning and picked up at night after work with no problems. MIchael was even kind enought to install a roof rack on my car for a discounted price because of all the trouble I've gone through with my "new" car. My father was a car salesperson for over 10 years so I knid of know how the business works. I'm pleasantly surprised at the great customer service I've received so far. We will see how to goes on my next visit as I am sure the car will have another issue sometime in the future. boo hoo. read more

UPDATE. Note: This is actually a 3.5* review. (Our second interaction, by itself, was 4.5 to 5*, but this averages against the 1st interaction, which was basically a 0*.) Someone at Koeppel reads their Yelp reviews, and takes them seriously. After what happened last time (see previous review), and posting my review, I got a phone call from Vincent Grace, a manager at Koeppel Automotive Group (the parent of K Mazda), practically begging for a second chance. While you don't get a second chance at a first impression, neither White Plains nor Garden City had the car I wanted in a stick shift. So after a few hours of grumbling, I called him back and made an appointment. This experience was night and day from the last. First, it was in a different location--K Mazda was in the process of moving (to 78th and Northern from 57th), which was the reason given for their terrible service last time. The wife and I walked onto the lot, still frustrated from our last experience, at 9:30am. On a BS scale of 0-10, we had a walking-out threshold of about 0.05. I drove off the lot at 2 in a brand-new Mazda 3 as a happy customer (and was even on time to be at work by 3). Jim Mendez, the K Mazda sales manager, apologized for our interaction last time. He had the vehicle ready to be test driven, on the lot, with dealer plates already on (unlike some other Northern Blvd dealers--I'M LOOKING AT YOU, Queensboro Toyota & Paragon Honda!!!). Francisco, the sales rep, was direct, well-versed in the 3--he drives one himself--and didn't do a hard sell. In fact he did almost a no-sell. He was friendly, understanding, and let the car speak for itself while still showing off all its benefits. We were allowed to test on the highway (unlike other dealerships). I really liked Francisco--he even showed me how to get KROCK back on my radio (!!!!!). Bottom line, wife and I decided to buy. We got back to the dealership and had a quick negotiation with Jim Mendez. Given our last interaction, he was authorized to start negotiations at invoice price (about $1000 below list), which we haggled down by a couple hundred to a nice round number. The "I'll have to check with my manager..." step lasted all of 2 minutes, and was agreed to. Haggling was painless, and we were both happy with the price. Then it was a few minutes of paperwork, a $500 credit card deposit, and a quick trip to the bank for a cashier's check for the remainder of the down payment. Then it was off to Koeppel Ford (also moving) to meet with Jimmy, the finance rep. I never thought I'd say I actually REALLY liked the finance guy at any auto dealership, but Jimmy was quick, friendly, to the point, and didn't hard-push any of the extended options (warranty etc.) My credit score earned me a 0.0%APR for 63 months (63? Really?) from Mazda USA, and my insurance (GEICO) offers 72,000 mechanical coverage ($250 deductible), so I declined everything except Intercept (ie LoJack) coverage. The install took about 45 minutes. There was a brief delay waiting for inspection etc., and I didn't have time to wait for final detailing before work, but I've been assured I can bring the car back for her first detailing instead. So. The first experience was awful and we felt completely ignored. The second experience was excellent. Everyone involved was straightforward, above board, and quite frankly better than I expected. I'm happy with the process, I'm happy with the price. As for the service department and the relationship going forward, we'll see how it goes... but for now I'm pretty content. Francisco was phenomenal. Jim Mendez made the process quick, smooth and painless. Jimmy was personable, friendly and, if not lightning-quick, up-front about how long things would take. Vincent Grace checked in more than twice and was thankful that we'd given Koeppel another chance. The whole process was low- to no-pressure, quicker than I thought it would be, and a very positive experience. Oh, and the car? The car is PHENOMENAL. Zoom. Freaking. *ZOOM*. read more

I didn't buy my car here but go here for scheduled maintenance. Let's face it - going to a dealership for anything (shopping for a new car or scheduled maintenance) can be hit or miss. Nothing is more frustrating than dealing with people who do nothing to hide the fact that they are taking your money, sometimes for things you don't understand. Most people aren't auto-savvy and going to a dealership for service can sometimes feel shady. I've only been here two times, but this service center has been great. They are always patient, listening to problems about my car and take the time to answer everything. They also seem to have some genuinely good people working there. I worked with a technician, Daniel, who took me for a ride in my own car to listen to some of the noises i've been experiencing and was great about the whole situation. The service center manager seems to set a good, positive tone for her staff and they do a good job of being customer friendly in a place where you wouldn't always expect it. (Unfortunately I think because the sales staff are the first people you deal with, they set a crappy tone and lower your expectations.) read more

So after getting completely bait and switched by another Mazda Dealership on the day we were to pick up the car (cough cough Poughkeepsie Mazda), we took the subway out to Queens where Koeppel totally saved the day. I really regret coming here where I bought my 2010 Mazda 5. I was stuck choosing this place because my last car was on it's last legs and registration was almost up so I bit the bullet and went here. I got an email with a good offer from some woman here but sadly when I went she was nowhere to be found. I also had Francisco as my sales guy and he told me the price was meant for previous Mazda owners which I was not... I also felt like he was the most carefree salesman ever as I sat there and talked it over with my family about the cost. He didn't try to offer me anything or negotiate, he just sat there and hummed to the melody that was playing in the dealership. Pretty much my only offer was a flat price a bit under the invoice, but not much and it was basically the floor model feature and color. I can't believe they didn't have any other colors for me to choose. In the end we went with it due to the time crunch and I already had two headaches from the other dealerships I went to earlier. I then learned I needed to wait almost a week for my car which I reluctantly agreed to. When it came down to the paperwork to sign up for the 3 year no interest financing, it was another hassle as I was then shifted over to someone else. I provided all the paperwork I had to show proof of address and thought this was over. I was wrong... During the week waiting for Francisco to get back to me, I had to call numerous times and left messages for him before he would finally get back to me to let me know the car was ready for pickup. I thought there would be a little more enthusiasm for them to finalize the sale, but I guess they didn't really care. The day I went to pick up the car I learned that they just started a special for the first 10 people to sign up for a car would get a free TV which I was not included since I signed last weekend. To add insult to injury I also learned I didn't qualify for the 3 year financing due to needing more paperwork which I didn't have and it was back home. They couldn't tell me this sooner right? Again I had to just swallow it and take the less attractive 5 year financing with interest since I was pretty much stuck with renewing my dying old car and inspection. Enough was enough for me.... When it came down to driving my car out, it seemed Francisco finally got more energy to actually describe the car features and ask me how I would rate his service. I didn't have the stomach to say a 3 or 4. (This was further justified that I had to wait 2 more weeks for a damn dimming mirror for the car and I called the service station only to find out it was never placed!) One somewhat good thing out of all this was the free oil change they offered at their service building up the road from the dealership. It was a one time thing and never again. It's basically inconvenient to come out here from RI where I worked and wait for the doors to open and drop off my car. Also it's first come first served so right before they open there's already 6-7 people in line. Grrrr read more

Spoke to rep and asked how long it would take and they told me about an hour. So I stayed and waited. Saw more people drop their cars off WITHOUT APPOINTMENTS And THEY GOT SERVICED FIRST! They didn't start working on my car until 11am. Wtf how does that happen? What's the point of scheduling appointments when they basically service cars on a first come first serve basis. Didn't leave there till about noon. Not cool. M Anyone that's been there knows that you can watch the mechanics work on cars thru the glass window. I wanted a specific model and spec type so I let Carlos know and he was prompt to call me as soon as they had the model in stock. Extremely dishonest car dealership trouble started when we purchased a pre owned vehicle that it turned out they didn't have a clean title on. We ended up selling the vehicle and purchasing another Mazda through another reputable Mazda dealer. We had several extended warranties on the returned vehicle that were to be refunded. The finance manager never returned our calls or emails and we only managed to get a call back when we escalated this to Mazda's Corporate office. We submitted all the paperwork and were supposed to receive a refund in 6 weeks that was 5 months ago we have made several requests and again we hear nothing. I fully understand the effect of the pandemic but this was supposed to be resolved prior to any shut down; even if they wanted to use the pandemic as an excuse there is no excuse for lack of communication. read more

I came in for a recall appointment on a freezing day- and they weren't doing their complimentary car washes and I was disappointed but guess what- Cassandra made it happen!!! Bought my Mazda CX-5 here and just got it serviced to fix a recall issue. Although this is a four star review that's only because I think I need to at least see a regular maintenance call to see how their service goes to give it a legitimate five star review. Originally, they said it would take 2 hours to service but it was done in 40 minutes. That's pretty good. BTW, don't buy their extra service package on top of the warranty. It's probably better to set aside money each year for a probable service call. read more

Went to the service department for repairing my malfunction horn and direction, and conducted a state inspection. The service is really nice, and they don't offer you a rip-off price since my previous repair shop suggested me replacing the whole front lamp of car instead of the broken bulb. Highly recommend for mazda owners near nyc, and it's quite convenient to be there by taking the R or M train. They have wifi, free donut and coffee when you are waiting in their waiting room. I just got my brand new 2018 cx5 grand touring with these guys. Gotta tell you, they are amazing, & pretty honest. The manager here holds by honesty as his #1 rule. Although I already had a pretty good offer from them, as I already did all my homework before coming over to them, I still was persistent in getting a better deal. Every time I spoke with the manager telling him that I know he can do better and still make a good profit off me, not once did he deny it (which most probably would in the situation), he didn't go down any further, and told me that was the best offer he was willing to give me, plain and simple. Raul took care of me, the fact that he also works for Ford, helped out because my last vehicle was the ford escape, so he knew the slight differences between what I had and what I'm looking for. The whole team is very friendly, all helped me out in regards to any questions or concerns I may have had. They didn't mind showing me the car multiple times and explaining the features it offers and how to use them. This is my first time leasing, partially due to all the crazy stories I've heard of dealers try to flip a detail or 2 in the contract or the features of the vehichle, or stick in a few "standard" fees. I have been extremely cautious at every turn in this process, to a point where I myself knew that I was overdoing it, but they were truly very understanding, and didn't mind me double checking every angle with all my questions, and taking my time thoroughly reading and understanding all the terms of the contract. One more thing, from the time we started on this deal, I was pretty sure we were discussing the grand touring "premium package", which comes with a few "extra nice" features, which I honestly really don't need, like heated rear seats & window de-icer, which are nice, but again really not necessary...Anyways, after having sent over my insurance to them for the vehicle & their having brought the car to the lot from the warehouse, I came over last night to sign the paperwork and pick up my new car. When I arrived, I was a little bit shocked to find that it was not the premium package. In the back of my mind I knew I could've cancelled the whole deal, and just went to someone else, and probably had the premium package included and maybe even at a better rate. But since as I mentioned before the premium features didn't mean so much to me, and I therefore never really pressed for verification on them, the secure feeling they gave me throughout the process, I knew, that not only was it not worth it, but that these guys would be available to help me out with anything else I might need in the future even when the deal was already said and done, and they've already gotten "paid". There's also much more to every story, but with that being said, besides for the really sharp looks the new mazdas are offering, the team here is really caring. I could not be happier with the level of service I experienced buying my new Mazda. Javier and the rest of the team was great. Like most New Yorkers, I know what I want and value my time. I found a car I wanted in Koeppel's inventory online and requested a quote. I got a competitive price and set up an appointment for the next day within an hour.
