What an awesome little place. The owners are the ones who make the rolls and bring you the food. They take a lot of pride in the quality and taste of the sushi. It's wonderful to listen to how much they care about sushi and their restaurant. The sushi itself was great--fresh and tasty. I liked the salmon nigiri the best. Tasted like butter. Not much seating inside but there is a park across the street.

Inside is pretty small with just a few tables but the food was good and had great service since my hot tea kept getting refilled. I tried the Salmon Sashimi ($13) and Vivian Roll ($19) both of which I enjoyed. The benefit of it being a smaller place is that it's very quiet.

The sushi is so fresh! The chefs (owners) are very friendly. Service is prompt and the presentation of the sushi speaks for itself! We had the rainbow roll, dragon roll, and cosmopolitan roll. Each roll was tasty but my favorite was the cosmopolitan roll. It was light and refreshing. Loved it and loved how we were treated!

Small sushi spot in DTLA. They have a pretty big menu with a lot of different rolls -- a lot of them looked kind of sauce heavy so I opted for the nigiri sampler. Came with two pieces each of tuna, butterfish, salmon, and yellowtail. Fish was extremely fresh and service was great.

I have visited this sushi spot several times and I'm always so impressed. They have a few tables for indoor seating, but are more of a takeout type place. You order at the counter and your rolls are made to order quickly and with care. The owner and workers are always so helpful and accommodating, and the fish is so fresh and delicious. Anytime I visit downtown LA, I have to stop here. 10/10!

I hadn't been a couple months and stopped the day before thanksgiving. The sushi is so delicious and always fresh! Always! The owners/chef are so nice and always so welcoming. It was a bit busy and didn't get to sit at my fav table (in-front of the chef) but I didn't mind. I love that others love and enjoy coming here as well. I wanted to try a new roll and the owner recommended the cosmopolitan roll and it was delicious! Everything here is always so good! If you want a cozy, small, but delicious and fresh fish, this is your place!

With so many five star reviews, I was pretty excited to give this place a try last week when I had a hankering for some sushi. I walked here on a Saturday night and was lucky enough to snag one of the few tables this place had. The menu had many different roll options and even though it was on the smaller side, it had pretty much any sushi roll you could want. This place doesn''t exactly give off "sit down sushi establishment" vibes, instead it looks like a barely decorated coffee shop with a few tables and a counter, though the prices are similar to any other sushi place. We ended up ordering and splitting a few rolls, which I honestly should have written down since I completely forgot which ones she ordered, but they are the two pictured below. The sushi itself tasted solid enough and I have no real issues with it, but they did just take like basic sushi you get from an all you can eat style place and the price just didn't make it seem worth it. Overall, Momi Sushi was a decent sushi spot and a place worth ordering from if you are in the area. The sushi itself was solid enough but the price to atmosphere ratio just didn't hit for me. I would rather walk an extra twenty minutes, pay the same price, and eat at a nicer place in Little Tokyo.

Clearly a local hole-in-the-wall for casual sushi. Nothing fancy, some style with the sashimi order, even more with the rolls, fish was fresh. Staff friendly with customers, especially once you've sat there for a bit. Nothing amazing, more ordinary than anything as far as food goes, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.

Wow, I didn't expect amazing sushi at DTLA. We went here before an event at Crypto arena, which is nearby. We were able to enjoy our meal along with the friendly service they gave. My favorite was the Spicy Tuna roll and as mentioned in other reviews, this is truly melt in your mouth goodness. For the price, it is worth getting, I find the portions to be larger than usual. Interesting that they do makis-it was nice trying their Salmon maki. The quality of the fish feels fresh and would definitely go back again. Not a lot of seating but there was no wait when I went there.

just went again because i couldn't stop thinking about the butterfish!! i had my boyfriend try it and he said it's the best sushi he has had, rivaling japan. it's so unique and buttery and delicious. and once again, the kindest owners too, they deserve everyone's business. can't wait to be back!

I had such a great experience at dinner tonight. Everything about this place was fantastic. You can tell there is a lot of love put into what they do. They put so much effort into every detail from the warm, welcoming service to the pretty garnishes on the plate. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. This is my new go to sushi place in DTLA.

Caveat to rating: the food was 3 out of 5 stars but the service bumped it up to 4 (my partner insisted). Came here on Saturday night and ordered 4 rolls for dining in. They were made quickly but the rice was oddly sweet - a bit off in my opinion but my partner liked his order, hence the split review. There are a few small tables if you're looking to dine in. Good choice but not outstanding.

Salmon Nigiri, Hamachi Nigiri, Negihama Roll and a hot green tea. So good!!
    Ryan K.

For a small and casual sushi spot, this place delivers. The sushi is fresh and excellent and for the price the value is unparalleled. The hamachi and salmon nigiri were pitch perfect. The negihama roll was spot on. They even included a flower as a garnish on my plate which was an extra. Nice touch. Then the service was great too. Super nice and friendly. It is small with only 4 small tables but that actually adds to the cozy feel. Definitely coming back!

The fried onions on top of the Tokyo roll were crispy and sweet. Uni was fresh and delicious! Nearly two hours for a takeout order is excessive, especially without clear communication or updates about the delay. When I arrived, I was informed that part of the order had been sitting out for about an hour. I wasn't comfortable accepting food that had been sitting that long, so I chose to cancel the order rather than wait even longer for a fresh remake. Again, the food here is genuinely delicious, and that's the reason I'm leaving this review instead of simply never coming back. My issue isn't with the quality of the food--it's with the order management, communication, and customer service surrounding this experience. I hope management can improve these issues because the food deserves better than the experience I had.

The only downside for me was the roll--it was smaller than I expected for the price. Looking back, I would probably skip the roll and order a cup bap or a few more pieces of yubu instead. I also noticed quite a few people picking up to-go orders, so ordering ahead is probably the way to go if you want to avoid the long wait.

We ended up ordering the toro garlic toast, veggie tempura, ginza roll, and several pieces of nigiri sushi. The toro garlic toast was pretty good - sort of like a spicy tuna crispy rice situation ... but a little fattier and more garlicky than crispy. The ginza roll was pretty good too - a lot of fish in the roll and wasn't overwhelming with too much sauce. The tempura was good too- not super oily and all your typical veg involved. The nigiri sushi were pretty well prepared. The size was pretty good for the price - and each were accompanied by a small garnish on top or a little bit of sauce brushed on. All in all - I wouldn't say it's a date night place, but is a good easy eats sushi spot for rolls and nigiri for the price. Would recommend!

First impressions: the place is pretty simple. Don't expect a super decorated sushi bar or that "wow, this feels like a hidden Tokyo gem" vibe. It's more casual and a bit plain inside. Service also felt a little... rookie. Our waiter was nice but seemed new to the job -- a bit unsure and not very engaging. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered a mix of sashimi, nigiri, and rolls -- salmon sashimi, bluefin sashimi, rainbow roll, Red Dragon roll, sweet shrimp, eel nigiri, and a baked salmon roll. Presentation was actually quite nice (orchids and plating looked great for photos, but the sashimi slices were thinner than expected. The fish tasted fresh enough, but overall the food landed in the "good but not memorable" category. Solid sushi, just nothing that really made us go "wow." If I were judging purely on food and atmosphere, this would probably land around 2.5 stars for me. BUT... here's where the night got sweeter. When the staff heard our daughter had just won her gymnastics competition, they surprised her with a free ice cream to celebrate. That was a really thoughtful gesture and totally made her night. On top of that, they also brought complimentary miso soup for our whole table (4 of us), which was a nice unexpected bonus. Little things like that go a long way, especially when you're dining with kids. It turned what would have been a pretty average dinner into a warm family moment. So while the sushi itself was just okay, the kindness from the staff bumped this review up to 3.5 stars for me. Would I go out of my way to come here? Probably not. But if I'm nearby and craving sushi again, I'd consider stopping in -- especially since they were so sweet to our little champion.

Recently, it came back to mind, so I looked it up and found out that the Little Tokyo location had permanently closed. After doing a little more research, I discovered that they had relocated to DTLA. I had been craving a Hamburg steak lately, which was one of the main reasons I decided to visit. My mom ordered the Sukiyaki, and I ordered the Hamburg steak. We shared both dishes, and unfortunately, the Sukiyaki was unbelievably salty. It tasted as if someone had poured an entire bottle of soy sauce into it. Even when eaten together with the rice that came with it, it was still overwhelmingly salty. The beef was also very tough, which made the dish even more disappointing. As for the Hamburg steak, the portion size was extremely small. On the positive side, it came with a generous serving of rice, a salad, and miso soup. The Hamburg steak itself tasted good, but it was severely overcooked and heavily charred, which was a huge disappointment. Until recently, I wasn't particularly focused on my health, but both of my parents have been dealing with health issues, and seeing that has made me much more health-conscious. I've been trying to avoid burnt foods and charred meats whenever possible. I've also cut out ham, sausages, sugary juices, and sodas. Because of that, I was especially disappointed to see my Hamburg steak burned so badly that parts of it were almost black. The restroom required walking down a very long flight of stairs. While it was spacious and clean, it had a somewhat eerie atmosphere, probably because it was located in the basement. There were only stairs and no obvious alternative access, which made me wonder how customers with disabilities would be able to reach the restroom. The service was very friendly and welcoming. However, between the disappointing food, the inconvenient parking situation (street parking only--fortunately, thanks to my usual incredible parking luck, I managed to find the one available parking space), and the difficulty of accessing the restroom, I don't think I'll be returning. Overall, I was especially disappointed by the food, and for that reason, I probably won't be visiting again. But, I gave the tip 20%. Cuz, the service was friendly.
