Wagyu Beef in Hot Stone bowl
    Jason F.

I visit Kong Tofu & BBQ three or four times a year and always leave satisfied. We enjoy the fast and friendly service. Good food and a large menu to choose from. I believe they are well known for their "Hot Stone Bowl" dishes. Good Korean comfort food! Around the end of year holidays they always decorate for Christmas. Very creative!

Lunch after our morning walk with one of my besties. She was craving bibimbap, so we decided to come here. We ordered the combination tofu soup at medium spice and a dolsot beef bibimbap to share. The meal came with seven types of banchan, plus complimentary hot tea served in a pot with free refills, which was a nice touch. For my taste, the food was on the bland side. The banchan were also very mildly seasoned. The service, however, was great, and the ambiance was casual yet pleasant. They also accept credit card payments.

I went here on a holiday weekend and had a reservation made for around 10 people beforehand. The staff was very nice and gave the children in our party some treats for fun! Ordering was quick and easy, and we tried many dishes, ranging from their bibimbaps to ramen to short ribs. I personally tried their assorted soft tofu stew, which had various meats and seafood. The stew was comforting and flavorful and was slightly more spicy than expected at the mild spice level. The tofu itself was soft and silky. The portion size was filling for everyone in general; many people in our party had some leftovers. Service was efficient, and the food came out hot and fresh, especially for the people who ordered hot stone bibimbaps. Reliable spot for those craving Korean comfort foods!

Decent beef soondubu! Came out really quickly and the service was fast and nice. We came on Father's Day with reservations for a party of 12 and there was plenty of seating. It does get pretty busy so do a reservation if you can! We were seated in the back so it was a cozy environment with a long table. Do note that plastic takeout containers do cost $0.50 for one!

This used to be a family favorite when it first opened but came back for the first time in a long time! Happy to say that the food is still very yummy :)) side dishes were plentiful and each dish was well flavored. The galbi and stir fried spicy squid were our favorites! Soondubu is good too. Service is quick and friendly. Lots of seating too.

Visited on a Wednesday night, a little close to closing time. This mom and pop shop is so cozy and has some pretty yummy food. The restaurant itself is quite spacious, and has an outdoor patio seating area. Nestled in the highly popular plaza off Stevens Creek, Kong Tofu & BBQ has a very kind staff who are pretty attentive and great with accommodating to any needs/ wants. I'd definitely come back! OKAY THE FOOD: * beef buckwheat cold noodle soup - so yummy and VERY refreshing! This was my first time trying this dish, and I genuinely enjoyed how refreshing and tasty it was. *popcorn chicken - Y U M and so CRISPY! My bestie and I killed this dish and was contemplating on ordering a portion togo * Banchan - you can't go wrong with the banchan here, and they''re generous with their portions!

Authentic food, great service, and a quiet dining environment with spacious seating. I really enjoyed the meal and would happily come back again.

I'm starting to be convinced that this is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the area. The prices are pretty standard for Korean food in Cupertino but the portions and the side dish varieties and amounts are amazing. I think Kong has the best selection of side dishes and they have a lottt. I really like their spicy cold noodle, it's so refreshing and spicy. The service is always really great and fast, and there's a lot of seating.

Came here for my birthday dinner today with my friends and thought it was so delicious!! We got seafood pancakes, short ribs, icy broth noodles, spicy buckwheat noodles, and eel bibimbap. My favorite was prob the short ribs. The server was so sweet and checked in on us often. We'll be back :)

The food is amazing as always. The service is okay. Food comes quickly. I ordered Korean short ribs. Yum!!

We got the seafood pancake and the tofu soup -- two classics! Pancake was crispy and delicious. Soups were very tasty. Nice variety of side dishes and they were quality as well.

Have been coming here with my family for years! Love the spicy pork bibimbap and the side dishes especially. Will always come back :)

Food: 3 Compare to other Korean food in the area, their food tastes average. I do like that they put the big shrimp and that they have purple rice option. Service: very sweet lady that is attentive and polite. Ambiance: spacious restaurant with many tables. Parking can get competitive on weekends but still manageable.

My husband was having an event for a group of students and I needed to come up with a menu quickly. I decided to try Wagon Wheel. They have a whole Catering service. I will most definitely use them again and I highly recommend them to anyone.

I've been to 3 others Redwood City BBQ, South Winchester BBQ (San Jose), and Canyon's BBQ (Castro Valley) and I've reviewed most of those quite favorably, except for 1. But they have about 4 others that I haven't been but are on my list. I guess now I'll know they are more the same than they are different. I knew walking in that I was going to like it. A strong aroma of wood smoke hugs you upon entering. A cool mural outside, lots of beers and bbq on the tables, cool tunes that was all over the place genre wise. 2 Meat Combo ($26/4.5*) Crazy solid combo. Not as juicy as I would prefer but between the perfect smoke content and their seasoning just makes me happy enough. Brisket: Their brisket is awesome. Not as juicy as some of the top notch places here in the Bay, but the flavor was perfect for me. Assertive smokiness without being overbearing. Get a piece with a good layer of fat and it was basically hearty beef bacon. I rarely put sauce on brisket but theirs is not bad, maybe just a dot or 2. Ribs: Also drier than what I like but the flavor and meaty texture was enough for me. Definitely have to pull these off the bone a bit, does not easily fall off, which I actually prefer. I like toothsome versus mushy meat. These ribs do have a layer of bbq sauce cooked into them, so it has a sweet and tangy flavor already in it. But they still can accept extra sauce, as it will not only moisten the ribs further but it will amp up the tang and sweetness that pork ribs are natural for. Tried 2 sides, beans and coleslaw. The beans aren't the super sweet kind, which I liked. More chili-like very hearty and complimenting to the smoky bbq. The slaw was perfect, crisp with a creamy yet slightly sweet dressing. Crazy good, I could actually eat their sides alone as a meal. Their corn bread here is strange. It is cooked in a sheetpan and cut into squares much like a brownie. But that square is then griddled til golden brown so I totally thought it was garlic bread at first. The other bbq spots I tried from this same company didn't make corn bread like that, so this was a first for me. Probably the only miss for me here. Also tried a half pound of Tri Tip ($20/4*) Very meaty that they were able to keep it a nice pink medium, which I like. But much milder in smoke than their brisket and ribs. I ended up making sandwiches with these at home. They are sliced pretty thick so you may have to slice some of them further. It bites easier in thinner slices versus monster thick slices that will pull out of the bread with each bite. I learned that on this out so just throwing out a tip. A solid bbq throwdown with a cold frosty one, plus lots of leftovers for work lunches the next few days, is just an out I can repeat over and over. Glad I found this spot!

The bibimbap and wagyu tofu soup (comes with rice) were great as well. The ice cream was okay. Overall I for sure would come again. For $18.99, you get your choice of two proteins, rice, salad, and miso soup, which is a pretty generous meal for the price. We all upgraded to the premium proteins for an extra $6 each. We tried both the short ribs and the ribeye. While the short ribs were good, I actually preferred the thinly sliced ribeye--it cooked quickly, stayed tender, and had great flavor. One pleasant surprise was the salad. It wasn't just an afterthought; it was fresh, well dressed, and honestly as good as the side salads served at many Japanese restaurants. The miso soup was also solid and rounded out the meal nicely. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the s'mores dessert. At $3, you get one small rectangle of Hershey's chocolate, one marshmallow, and two graham crackers. The portions are tiny, and if you have kids, they'll almost certainly want more than one. By the time you order enough to make everyone happy, it doesn't feel like much of a value. Overall, this isn't the best Japanese BBQ I've had, but that's not really the point.
