Funny thing- we thought we were dining at Tofu Plus BBQ the whole time we were there! ha! ha!. So we had a slightly higher expectation based on the reviews we read. Anyway, the service was friendly and warm. We were seated right away - the restaurant was not very full. We ordered the chicken Korean BBQ , soft tofu stew: kimchee and pork and the Bibimbab with beef. We were served with 7 varieties of bonchon: stewed chili potatoes, marinated zucchini slices, fish cake slices, kim chee, tofu,marinated seaweed and glass noodles. The glass noodles had a great flaovor but the other items were just OK. The kimchee had a siciness to it but somehow it was not balanced (sweet, crunchy, spicy). The dishes all sort of fell one or two notches from being good. The seasonings on the dishes were just a tad shy on the flavor profile. Th ebest dish was the Chicken BBQ. there was more rice than beef in the bibimbap and the tofu stew was a bit 'raw' in the chili paste - perhaps the chili needed to be cooked a little longer. Price wise - I thought it was a bit pricey for what we got. Not sure I would come back again. Was a nice restaurant but there was nothing I saw or tasted that is enticing me to return. read more

Lunch after our morning walk with one of my besties. She was craving bibimbap, so we decided to come here. We ordered the combination tofu soup at medium spice and a dolsot beef bibimbap to share. The meal came with seven types of banchan, plus complimentary hot tea served in a pot with free refills, which was a nice touch. For my taste, the food was on the bland side. Ordering was quick and easy, and we tried many dishes, ranging from their bibimbaps to ramen to short ribs. I personally tried their assorted soft tofu stew, which had various meats and seafood. The stew was comforting and flavorful and was slightly more spicy than expected at the mild spice level. The tofu itself was soft and silky. We have been coming to this Korean tofu restaurant for many years. It's situated inside the busy Marketplace Cupertino where Tokyo Central locates. When we are craving for some Korean food then we will come here to eat. We usually order tofu bowl, occasionally a grilled mackerel. But on the menu there are seafood or vegetable pancake, bulgogi, ribs, soup, ramen to choose from. The owner is a funny guy but friendly. Cons: -If you think you're going to have leftovers, bring your own containers! They charge $0.50 for take out containers. I totally get that these are an extra expense for restaurants, but I think it's poor customer experience and also a poor business model. They should really work it into their operational and/or food costs. -My sundubu-jjigae was missing the green onions and raw egg. (This was advertised as toppings.) The service was okay. It took a little while to order, but they brought out the banchan quickly and also refilled our waters once. The prices are pretty standard for Korean food in Cupertino but the portions and the side dish varieties and amounts are amazing. They give a good amount of meat as well and it's well marinated (lunch and dinner prices). There's a lot of tables and it's usually not too crowded so the wait isn't too long. There's chairs in the front for a waiting area. They also take same day reservations (have to call). The workers are super nice and like to joke around. We ordered the original bibimbap and seafood tofu soup, and we thought the food was just okay. The bibimbap had the option of white or purple rice. I opted for purple rice and thought it had a good flavor too it, with the right chewiness and thicker texture as well. The seafood tofu soup was a little bit on the smaller side, and there could have been more flavor to it. We had tried getting attention from staff to refill our kimchi and fish cakes, but that was really difficult. Someone told us a staff member failed to show, but we think that there should be more than one person in the front anyways given that the restaurant was pretty full and there were plenty of to-go orders as well.
