This place is wonderful. Great staff good food. Wish the price point was a bit less but overall very tasty!

This is a unique concept, from sit down dining to refrigerated prepared items, to a small market where you can get all things Korean. I got five prepared dishes and a bunch of grocery items for a Christmas gift for a chef. This was my first visit, but I will be back, for sure. I love Korean food and these folks also own Bowl'd, which happens to be my favorite Korean place for some good ole Bibimbap, my favorite dish. The service was fine, in fact an employee brought me a handbasket when she saw me trying to juggle a few items I had chosen. When I return, I want to sit down to eat. We three really enjoyed the casual vibe, the service, and the food. The patio is lovely, unfortunately too cold for us that night. Glad we went "normal spicy" with our tofu soups, so we know how to gauge it. Definitely going more spicy next time! Husband felt his ramen was just right. Only drawbacks are it's pretty expensive compared with some similar places (or maybe not, all food is way up, right?), but 3.00 extra for (not a lot of) meat puts tofu soup above 20. Feels a lot. Very tasty though, paying for quality. Lastly, the bowls are lovely, but for hot Korean soup I'd prefer the traditional sizzling bowls, as it cooled off a little quickly for me. I have been twice. The first time, I got the tofu stew. It's very good with nice chunks of tofu. The second time I got a beef stew (special and I can't remember the name) that was excellent -- spicy and rich. The roasted tea was lovely. We were here unplanned for a quick dinner. Got bentos, food was good except that all of it was too much on the sweet side. Even the chicken and all of the banchan was sweet. They have a grocery shop at the place which is nice if you want to buy some Korean items, staff is helpful and service was above average at least for our n=1 experience. But food..which is the main reason we'd go there needs improvement. Note to owners - no need to Americanize (read sugar bomb) your food, please keep it basic even, Korean cuisine is so flavorful and rich as is. This was a bit of a dissapointment. read more

We wanted to check out the newest addition to the Bowl'd family but y fortunately walked away disappointed. They were rather understaffed on Saturday and one of the servers (there were two total) was really new and had a hard time remembering table numbers and if a table was already taken (lack of communication between the two). As she tried to out two tables together, I had to remind her that it's been taken and the lady was literally right there checking out there little mini mart items. Instead of having the guests wait a tiny bit for a bigger table, they managed to seat multiple parties of three at a two top. And when the food start to arrive, their table looked u pleasantly crowded/crammed. We ordered two bento boxes, sticky pork belly and bugulgi, both were very mediocre - food was lukewarm and rice was warm at best. Marinade for both proteins were on the sweet side, No spicy kimchi to cut the sweetness nor to refresh palette. The soft tofu stew was slightly warmer but after cracking the raw egg in it, the soup temperature went down and the egg didn't cook. We were there for over an hour and our water was refilled once (the cup is small, 6 to 8oz so empties quick). We also asked for take out containers and those too, took awhile to get to our table. We brought our check to the front because no one came back to take it... and the front register was rather crowded due to awaiting guests, thus, took awhile for the payment process... there is no overall experience... it was just disappointments and I can't even tell if they were trying (since they looked so flustered 90% of the time) I'd say definitely go to Bowl'd or Spoon... read more

For my vegetarians - the tofu stew is delicious. It's a bath of various mushrooms, onions, and soft silken tofu and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a bit on the pricier side but you do get a hefty portion. Spice level is 7/10 and they do offer a non spicy version read more

I was looking for a quick bite on a Saturday and discovered this new Korean restaurant/super market at the old Rivoli location. Rivoli was a semi-fancy Italian place with white linen and all that had been around I think since the 80s, but I could be wrong. I had a nostalgic moment in front of the building because the basic layout and the color scheme were exactly how it used to be, except now it's a Korean place. I went inside just as they opened and saw chefs/owners busily preparing vegetables in the kitchen. In what used to be the main dining area there are tables for dining in and a wall lined with deli fridges/freezers with Korean banchan and other frozen goods. The small courtyard with a deck in the back also had several tables and would make a really cute dining experience. Serenity now! In the end I didn't have time for a sit down meal so I picked up a few of my favorite banchans and marinated spicy pork to take home. Wow they are good! They taste totally authentic and home made. The quality of the meat was also better than I am used to buying pre-marinated at a grocery store. I would love to go back and eat something at the site, maybe in that zen garden in the backyard. Oh and they also do have a wall of instant ramen noodles and other Korean homey items for sale. read more

This is among the best food in the bay and you owe it to yourself to sample the menu and the prepared foods. I've been to Korea and eaten well, eaten at at many of the better Korean restaurants in LA and Oakland...and very rarely has anything achieved quite the sophisticated flavors and textures that Superette achieves. read more

I read about this place on SFGate. I knew OF the restaurant that used to occupy the same location, butsadly had never gone there. I wasn't going to miss out on trying somewhere out after reading such an interesting article! What drew me to this shop is the pre-cut meat. I don't mind cooking, it's just all the damned prep that gets me down. I also was intrigued by the amount of pickled items mentioned in the article. I am a pickled food eating machine! I wasn't disappointed. The layout is a little odd in that you need to walk by the kitchen to get to the back grocery section. There are also tables back there so you could be browsing while others are dining. The selection of basically everything discussed in the article was amazing! The pre-cut meat was abundant, as well as many other refrigerated delights. I bought some gyoza, sweet corn potato salad, pickled radish, and pre-cut pork and beef. The haven't cooked the meat yet, but everything else was consumed after we arrived at home. My partner is NOT into pickled vegetables (except fish because he's Swedish). Even he liked the little bit of radish I left for him. He thought the potato salad was amazing. I am super picky about the variations on that dish I will tolerate. It was honestly some of THE best potato salad I have ever had. My reference is the version that Andronico's on University used to sell in the mid to late 90s. I regularly take Solano as my "back way" home. Looks like I'll be returning! read more

Went back with a friend to celebrate a belated birthday. It was cold that day so sat inside but the garden is still a fav of mine. My friend and I shared and had again the bento box and tried the pork and cheese cutlet. That dish was sooo yummy and it'll be on my list to order again. Service was spot on. read more

Today is Saturday, July 15. My partner and I just got back from a lunch meal at the energizing patio at Korean Superette. I didn't intend spicy but the spicy rice cakes befriended my stomach as soon as I took the first flattened cake in my mouth. My partner got a bulgogi rice bowl and he started eating by literally sniffing how good the char and grilled bulgogi smelled to him. He made me sniff on it too! I really loved the rice underneath it too. I'm an out-an-out rice lover and pop into joy when I eat carefully boiled rice. Everyone around us in the patio seemed so calm and happy. The service is friendly and enjoy their takeout side dishes, but I find it hard to justify some of the prices. For example, the galbi jiim was almost $45 and it came with 4 short ribs in a watery soup. I also ordered the black bean noodles, and the sauce, which is supposed to a thicker consistency, came incredibly watery and flavorless.
