Little yakitori restaurant inside a strip mall center. Place was quiet and nearly empty on a weeknight during dinnertime. There are private "japanese style seating" areas towards the back where you remove your shoes before entering and sit on the floor (there's a space under the table to dangle your feet). I wouldn't recommend sitting here if you are of average american size or larger as it's really cramped (small asian people, you'll fit just fine). Great place for a group happy hour or gathering. They offer a large selection of yakitori sticks, as well as other options such as udon, ramen, and bento boxes. I really like the Yakitori experience. Nothing american can compare to this. small random pieces of chicken and/beef on a stick! Random pieces mind you but they are all tasty. It's in the way that they grill it. It has a great smokey, distinct taste and flavor. I ordered the #1 combo and #2 with a large beer. I didn't eat it all myself but split it all between two folks. It was really tasty. I would recommend doing just the same if this is your first time at this place and eating this type of food. You get a lot for your money and the staff is quick, polite and Japanese :) This is a good thing. It wasn't very crowded when we went on Thursday night around 8. On a whim I stopped in for late dinner. It was fun to try a new place / new type of food. Many drink options, staff was nice to me, and had no problem with my questions. The okra with pork, beef, shiitake mushrooms, and pork belly were my favorites but they were all good. This is great for low carb diets. Very good yakitori. For food only, I'd give them 5 stars. Not quite as good in my opinion as Shin Sen Gumi, but pretty close. They have a much quieter ambiance than Shin Sen Gumi, which is nice. Our waitress was very attentive and nice, but there was an a*****e waiter serving the table next to us. Glad we didn't get that guy. Watching him display his attitude, I had to subtract a star. Pretty good if you're feeling izakaya-style bbq. The bbq was hit or miss. Sometimes tasty and perfectly cooked, other times dried out. I do like their large selection of meat, you can get all the usual meats plus gizzard, cartilage, etc. The atmosphere is cool since you get to see them bbq behind the counter. I love this place! Yelp did not let me down...I've been eating here for the past six months regularly and have brought many friends and family. The food is excellent. My favorites are the pork belly with shisho leaf, green onion with chicken, pork wrapped okra, and spicy chicken wings. Also, the japanese citris sorbet is a nice dessert to balance the heat and saltiness of the yakitori. The restaurant gets crowded very quickly on Friday and Saturday evenings, so come early or make reservations. read more

Pork shiso - great marbilization and shiso adds that extra kick of flavor Meatball - one of those items you just have to get for tradition sake, very juicy and flavorful Asparagus pork - imagine smokey bacon wrapped around your favorite veggie Beef tounge - a bit tougher, but very rich in flavor with a shoyu glaze Squid shiso - my favorite thing on the menu; juicy, smokey, enriched with flavor you wouldn't normally expect from a squid Chicken tail - my other favorite thing on the menu, it's like eating crispy chicken skin that melts in your mouth Liver - I ask for ours on the grill for a bit longer; that caramelized glaze they put on top makes this thing a winner Shishito peppers - the myth is that 1 in 10 is hot... or may be I think all of them are hot... After being disappointed by all the "raved about" yakitori/kushiyaki places in the South Bay, it was nice to find one that is actually worth a repeat visit! The skewers were all good and as an added surprise, the eel box was very, very good. The service dropped the ball a little when it got busy but remained attentive and friendly. A nice selection of sakes and desserts as well. We did a pretty expansive sampling and there are still many more items to try next visit. The prices were reasonable and parking was plentiful. read more

Located in the same plaza as Pho Hana and Grand China Buffet, it's in a somewhat obscure area. Stopped by here on a Friday night for a late night dinner. We got a variety of yakitori, takoyaki, and spicy chicken ramen. My favorite yakitori was the CHICKEN MEATBALLS--moist, juicy meatballs that are better than other yakitori places I've been to. We ordered another round of this one. Another fav was the JUICY PORK BELLY WITH SHISO LEAF! I love the fragrant shiso leaf that adds to the texture and flavor of the pork belly. Squeeze some lemon on there for an additional burst of flavor. My least favorite was the quail eggs...very dry...the Shin Sen Gumi ones spoiled me :P They need to change the method or cooking time to make it less dry because quail egg is a must for yakitori lovers like me! I also really loved the soft, hot takoyaki. I would order this again and the price was decent (I think about $5.50?) The spicy chicken ramen was mediocre, but it filled us up. The spicy broth really does have a strong kick to it and left the tip of my tongue numb, but the chicken pieces were pretty good. The lunch combos seem like such good deals--see below of other yelpers describing the lunch combos! Because it's yakitori, the prices were a bit high, but that's what happens when you order so many skewers. I'm definitely going to be stopping by during lunch. I returned with hunger second time around knowing my needs were going to be met if i came here. A few too many Asahi drafts caused my loss my memory of what my gal ordered, but i recall devouring the combo number one or combo A, just hitting all the spots without it being too overwhelming. The combo with the basic assortments came out accordingly and cooked just right even when it was eye-popping busy. It wasn't sloppy, because thats the biggest concern when i dine at busy locations, the food comes out half-ass but not this place, it met most of my top preferences. At the end of the night, something my lady ordered didn't arrive yet and when she spoke on it softly, the kitchen complemented two desserts, green tea ice cream and peach ice cream; and then she forgot all about it.
