Our friend and neighbor, a musician, was playing at a local bar in town, so a group of the neighbors went to show our support. My hubs and I had never been to Kraverie before and were happy to try a new place. I am glad that we did because we made up about 75% of the patrons on a Thursday night, which made the bar's owner quite happy. I checked out the menu before we went. OK, typical bar food but with an emphasis on kimchi (I'm not a fan). They serve chicken wings "nice or naughty (spicy)" and they were good. The dumplings (we call them potstickers) were typical, also fine. My hubs liked his taco (street-size). I ordered their Steak Salad. A disgrace. Bagged lettuce accompanied by two small slices of cucumber. The 'steak' was 1/4" size square pieces of dried out meat whose texture was like shoe leather. It was very hard to find the 'steak' in the salad which is why I didn't bother photographing it. I am being kind here. It was awful. The tables are so close together that I felt the back of the person at the table in front of me (we were back-to-back) touching me the entire time. My spouse was challenged eating his food because his chair didn't fit at the table because of the person behind him. WTF. They had one server for the entire room which included perhaps 10 tables plus the bar. This was clearly insufficient and service suffered (we don't blame her). We went to support our musician friend. First off, walking into the place gives a nice chill bar vibe with the wonderful music, and looks. Went here with a coworker for Thursday happy hour. Something to note is they do not serve liquor, only beer, wine, and some canned liquor drinks. We sat at the bar and our bartender was very nice. She was quick to ask us for drink orders and provide water. Unfortunately, once we ordered food we did have to wait quite a while. We were told there is only 1 person in the kitchen. We ordered veggie fried rice and 2 Korean tacos from the happy hour menu as well as kimchi cheese fries from the regular menu. The fries were very good and different although a little overly oily. The fried rice was fine but dry. The tacos were good according to my coworker. They had a great band playing the evening we visited. I'm not usually the type to leave a business with a chip on my shoulder and immediately leave a review, but I need to get this typed out and out of my mind forever. Kraverie was recommended by a family member, so we popped in around 7pm on a Thursday. Thursday they have happy hour specials all night, so it was perfect! We walked in and there were 3-4 tables sat, but pretty empty. The woman behind the bar directed us to sit at a two top by the window, but we said we'd rather sit at the bar, and we grabbed two of the 7+ barstools available. She seemed annoyed that we wanted to sit at the bar, which as a bartender, is already a red flag. But hey, we all have bad nights. We ordered a round of their $6 drafts, the happy hour dumplings and chips and salsa. All were delicious and we were feeling really good about entrees. On the happy hour menu, it very CLEARLY states "vegetable fried rice" $6, so I order it with no egg, because I'm vegan. I pointed to the $6 vegetable fried rice as I order. Over 30 minutes later, my rice bowl arrives with BACON on it. I'm vegan. I wanted vegetable friend rice. I sit there confused and after 5-6 minutes I wave down the bartender and explain that I wanted the happy hour vegetable fried rice. Instead of asking me a question, or apologizing for any miscommunication, I'm met with attitude and "it very clearly states on the menu what comes on the rice." To which I say "this is not vegetable fried rice. The bartender, I believe to be Coleen, says "you said no egg," and points to the kimchi fried rice on the regular menu, which does in fact come with bacon and an egg. "It's right there on the menu," she says rudely. I explain to her that I wanted the HAPPY HOUR VEGETABLE FRIED RICE AND NOT THE KIMCHI FRIED RICE, and that there isn't even a vegetable fried rice on their normal menu for me to mix up, and instead of using this to apologize or listen to me, Colleen says "she's new, so." BLAMING the mistake on the girl training. I was amazed not only by how argumentative she was, but also with the attitude? I just don't understand how I could've upset her when my food was inedible? She takes it away and I hope* refired it properly, but at this point my trust is at zero. 15 mins go by and my food comes out with no egg or bacon, but is STILL the kimchi fried rice and not the $6 happy hour one. I'm so fed up at this point I just want the check. It wasn't what I ordered or wanted, and clearly there was no cooperation from the bartender. I get a box and get my card out to pay. I am ignored for 10-15 minutes. I just want to pay and leave. I finally ask a girl training if I can get the check, and about 5-7 minutes go by. Check is dropped and my $6 vegetable fried rice is a whopping $18 kimchi fried rice on my bill. Colleen also had the NEW GIRL take the blame for the rice drama and apologize to me? I said "girl it was not your fault!" Do it dare say something to Colleen? No way. I'm not dealing with the attitude. I bartend during Covid in a tourist city too. I get it. Some nights suck, but we did nothing but communicate an incorrect order issue, and were given horrible service. Whole night was slow. Service was abysmal. We were excited to be returning to Kraverie since we enjoyed our previous visit so much. Once again, we enjoyed our meal and look forward to returning. First, it's worth noting that the Korean Crepe that is highlighted on the main menu is not available. It was explained to us that the kitchen is very small and they are trying to figure out how they can make room for more crepe griddles. In the mean time, they do still offer the dessert crepes that are on the menu. I don't know if they offer the savory crepes on the menu. My wife enjoyed a Left Hand Oktoberfest ($7?) while I had a Sixpoint Puff ($9?). The pours were smaller than pints, but they were, to the establishment's credit, in appropriately branded glasses. Also, the Puff comes in at 9.8% abv so the smaller (10 oz.?) glass size was quite reasonable. My wife had the Kimchidilla ($9.50) with spicy pork, fried kimchi puree, Monterey jack, and a sour cream sauce. It was very tasty. I ordered the Bibimbap ($10.75) with bulgogi ($3 additional). This is not the version of Bibimbap (gobdal) that is served in a hot stone bowl that causes the rice to cook to a crispness. And I assume that their small kitchen would not be able to accommodate that version. But it still is a very delicious serving of rice, vegetables and a fried egg. The bulgogi was excellent also with tender meat and just the right amount of spiciness. One final suggestion. It being a relatively mild day when we were there, the door to the patio was open and flies entered the dining area. It would be advisable for the owners to add either a screen door or air curtain for that door. But then our next visit will probably be during the Winter so we shouldn't have the same annoyance. I've been reading reviews and have noticed my experience yesterday eating here was far different than others. The food was pretty good, the Korean wings were fantastic, and the service was good. The only thing that irked me a little bit was the 3 dollars per cup of whatever soft drink and then not being told that each drink refill would add up, but besides that its a cool little place, I'd suggest if youve had a bad experience in the past to give it another shot, whatever it was it seems like they learned the lesson. read more

If you're hungry enough to start munching on your own arm, either have a snack before you go to Kraverie or simply go somewhere else. Look, I completely understand that they are new to the neighborhood and have kinks to work out...so I'm giving a 3 star review which should really be a 2 or 2.5. That said, based on what I know...this is a second location so these folks have restaurant experience in a densely populated area. First: the service. Our waitress was absolutely lovely...but her sense of timing still needs some work. I'm assuming that most of the breakdown was in the kitchen...because I've never waited for 45 minutes for nachos before. Seriously....45 minutes. It was weird. (My dining companion and I were joking about heading over to hannaford to grab the ingredients to make the nachos ourselves...we could have done it in less time). Second: the timing. I already mentioned how long it took to get an appetizer...but even the drinks took almost 20 minutes from the time they were ordered (2 beers). The main dishes arrived less than 5 minutes after the nachos finally showed up. So...big kink here that needs to be worked out....timing. (Please note that the restaurant was half empty....there were a few tables outside but it wasn't packed. The bar had a few patrons but I did notice several take-out orders). Third: the food itself. Maybe I didn't order the right dish, but I thought that the Korean BBQ plate was just OK. It's served with a choice of 2 different meats (I had sesame chicken and ribeye) with sticky rice and kimchee. The rice was just white rice and I found the meats to be excessively salty. I've had the pleasure of experiencing authentic Korean food on many occasions and even the kimchee here wasn't quite what I expected. The nachos were definitely tasty...I enjoyed those more than my main dish. Last: the atmosphere. I loved the vibe when I walked in...I'm a classic rock junkie and the decor was right up my alley. A huge pic of Led Zeppelin in their heyday? YES!!! Loved the (aforementioned) classic rock tunes in the background. The issue here is that if there are just a few people in the dining room, the noise level is extremely high due to the way the sound bounces off the walls. We didn't have dessert....I'd like to try one of their crapes sometime. Again....they're new. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt...and...I'd love to see another successful addition to the Beekman Street row of restaurants...especially one with a heavy Korean influence. For our weekend friend double date we were all looking for a cool place that none of us had been too. Kraverie offered good reviews, a different menu and close by to our respective apartments. When we arrived we were pleased to see that there were lots of tables available so the wait wouldn't be long. There was like music, which wasn't too loud so that was nice. Just enough to set a fun Saturday night atmosphere. Mike lapoint played a variety of music and even ad lib his own version of chicken fried by the zac brown band. We ordered Kimchi cheese fries to share, great taste. Three of us got burritos and one a kimchidilla. I ordered the tofu burrito, which i was accidentally given a meat burrito, i was wondering why the tofu was such a different texture! After checking in with my boyfriend, i realized i was actually eating pork! Our waiter Michael and other staff members were kind enough to order me a new burrito with the tofu i ordered. The tofu tastes great! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The burrito itself is delicious with the sauce and rice combo. Also the dressing on the side salad was delightful. Overall the atmosphere was lovely, there were even families there with their children. The staff was accommodating and friendly! The food is great and the prices are good. What a great find! So a bit disappointed. The Korean BBQ was anything but. The menu was difficult to decipher. I was looking for BBQ, but honestly it isn't there. there are so called tacos and salads. No BBQ to speak of. Lots of Korean vegetarian items. I asked the waitress about this and she informed me that the owner is a vegetarian. I did not wish to seem argumentative So I let it go. Now about the beer. First of all it was served in plastic cups which I found bordering on insulting. I had three different beers all of which looked and tasted pretty much the same. Came across this gem by luck on our way through Saratoga. Sure glad we stopped in. Ambiance and staff were excellent. Live music and decor was a fantastic touch. I found this restaurant through the Yelp Albany Instagram and dragged the boyfriend with me for a late weekend dinner. Having come from the mecca of Korean fusion food (Los Angeles), I was excited to see how this food-truck-turned-bar/restaurant would compare. Food: We ordered the Korean nachos (meatless), 3 tacos (galbi, bulgogi, and chicken), and Korean Quesadilla (chicken). The nachos were a tasty combination of kimchee favors with sour cream and green onions. They would be tastier with some meat and could probably feed 1 person as a full meal. My boyfriend's Korean Quesadilla was a surprise hit for both of us. While I'm not usually a fan of quesadillas, this one was again a tasty combination of Mexican-inspired flavors and Korean kimchee with seasoned chicken. Unfortunately, the tacos were an overall miss for me. The 3 meats were well seasoned and tasted authentic, but were served on 3 flour tortillas. I'm used to eating tacos on corn tortillas exclusively and was disappointed with the flour tortillas as the density of flour tortillas takes away from the flavors of the meats. The restaurant was out of the Philly Cheesesteak that originally drew my attention on Yelp, so we may return to try that. Ambiance/Service: The restaurant has more of a dive bar feel at night with live music, rock and roll decor, and a few tables along the wall for dinner patrons. We stopped in for a late night meal and we're lucky enough to catch some live music. Inside the atmosphere is very casual, they'll tell you to find any empty table and seat yourself. We started with the pork and leek dumplings. They were served crispy on the outside, full of flavor, that was complemented nicely by a sweet dipping sauce. I ordered the Korean tacos, and opted for Galbi short rib. The tacos were ok, but had the potential to be much better. The short run was a little dry and tough. The flour tortilla was thick and tasted store bought, leaving something to be desired. The other contents were delicious. My husband's Seoul cheesesteak on the other hand was the star of the show. It is a huge sandwich served on a crisp, toasted loaf of bread with delicious tender rib eye meat. It's seasoned well and will not leave you feeling disappointed! I feel terrible posting this review, particularly in the midst of a pandemic, but feel I have no choice. This restaurant is a place I have throughly enjoyed supporting for the past few years. The food was terrific, the waitstaff attentive, and the environment (such great music, both recorded and live) just a really fun place to hang out. We visited for date nights, with family, and brought friends too. Tonight was the second time I have visited during Covid. It wasn't great the 1st time, but I was determined to give one of my favorite restaurants another chance. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night to an empty restaurant with 3 other parties seated in the patio, one of which left right after we arrived. Our waitress was also the bartender/to go order person, which we didn't realize right away. Another waitress was responsible for a couple of the other groups. Our server/bartender (Erin) took our appetizer order within 10 minutes of arriving and came back with samples of cider/beer too. All seemed to be going well. She said it could be a little slow as the kitchen was fairly busy with takeout orders. 45 minutes later, our order of nachos arrived. I was not feeling particularly patient by then and it was a double whammy: the food took forever and the quality had changed. They were nowhere near the same. After finishing our appetizer (happened pretty fast as we were starving, never mind the change in quality ), we waited for our dinners. And waited. And waited. I went inside shortly before 8 to speak to our waitress who was tending bar. She apologized again (totally not her fault), but the kicker was that the manager/owner was literally sitting right there. He didn't apologize, didn't jump in in any way. Just let me be upset and the bartender try to help. Our meals arrived minutes later. I ordered the burrito - something I once loved and have not had since before Covid. Completely not the same dish. Tons of sauce, so much that the shell fell apart. Chicken was tough. Rice - sticky rice that is usually great - was just part of the sadness of the sauce. Erin did bring out a free drink for our time. But, honestly, this whole sad situation deserved at least a comped appetizer, an apology from the manager, something. We paid full price for an hour and a half wait for dinner, less than great food, and a waitress who through no fault of her own couldn't focus on waiting on us. If this was the first I had been here, it would have been - as it is now- the last. And a note to management: If you want to focus on your delivery/pick up orders, save yourself the money on servers and the angry customers and just go in that direction instead. read more

It was around $70 for a plate of nachos, two entrees, and four beers. I appreciate that the restaurant needs to turn a profit, but $14 for a burrito seems a bit much. And typically you can find more reasonably priced Korean food. * While the food was tasty and generally good, it could be improved. Our biggest complaint is that the flavors of the dishes just seem to run together without anything really standing out. Adding more kimchi would have helped greatly to cut through the sweetness of the dishes. Also, we got the impression that some of the entrees are essentially the same few ingredients served in different ways, which might get a bit repetitious. We'll have to try more items to see. The nachos were an exception to this and our favorite part of the meal. Highly recommend getting them. ***Recap*** Very impressed by the locale and atmosphere. So the idea of Kimchi cheese fries may strike you as odd - we all know that the appropriate topping for fries are cheese curds and gravy. Nevertheless these were super yummy - salty, vinegary, crunchy, a bit spicy (though, frankly could be spicier). The cheese and kimchi went together well. Not sure what the reddish sour cream thing was on top but it was good. The offer of ketchup was surprising and would have been gross. I also had the wings ($.50 wings on Wednesday!). The wings themselves were great, crunchy without being dry - and big! The sauce, however, wasn't great. It was sweet, with a hint of chili powder but not spicy at all. I'd eat them again but I might have to bring my own hot sauce. I've only been once but this seems like a great place for a beer and bar snacks. Definitely going to go back! read more

I get it's track season. I get it's post COVID and it's tough to get help. But this place is run so poorly it's a wonder they're still open. We went post track and got there about 730. We sit at the bar and are just about blasted out of the room by a duo that's playing louder than Metallica on a slow night. So there's this guy at the end of the bar that's drinking a beer AND passing out menus and delivering food to the table. Let's just call him pockets because his hands were always in his pockets. And we wait. And wait. And then wait some more. We ask pockets to check on the wings and he says "we're having trouble with our internet". And he'll rush the wings and dumplings. I have no idea how in 2021 you having trouble with your internet prevents me from getting wings and dumplings. Then, out of the blue, some other waitress asks if she can take our order. Wait. What?? No. It's been in for a while. So we reach critical mass after waiting over an hour and politely tell him to 86 everything. Pockets gets hyper indignant. "I told you I was gonna rush the wings, now I have to throw all that food out". No you don't pockets. The place was filled and I'm sure there were lots of hungry people waiting 60+ minutes for wings just like we were. Relax pockets. Have another beer and maybe smoke another doobie to take the edge off. Good news was we walked in to the local, sat at that bar and had fish and chips and walked out 45 minutes later. I wish I could comment on the food, because the menu looked great! However it took almost an hour to come out. We had ordered nachos and fried rice. The fried rice never materialized (server had input incorrect item) and the nachos were soggy chips with a pile of unmelted shredded cheese. This was a great little spot to eat at. I love Korean food and this place didn't disappoint. Love their twists on other cuisine such as their Kimchi fries. The Bulgogi was tender and juicy and seasoned to perfection. Only downside was we sat for quite awhile waiting for the waiter/bartender to come back to take our order. All-in-all great place and I will definitely be going back to try more of their delicious Korean creations. read more

Food is generally not too bad, the organization and the service very marginal. We seldom seem to get efficient waitstaff maybe the better restaurants in town take them? Drinks are very slow in appearing again a reflection of poor management. They should have stuck to the food truck. read more

They don't know what a baguette is! I got a Portuguese/ sub roll and I was excited because it was supposed to be on a baguette. They could have told me they didn't have any so I could've ordered something else but.... Too bad 'cause I liked the place. Oh well. I doubt I'll be going back simply because I don't know what I'll get. I eat out 5-7times a week but after the waiter said she'd pass along the message that it wasn't what I ordered and nothing was done about it says a lot about the establishment. read more
