This place was open on New Year's Eve, so I gave it a try today. They are very friendly, which I appreciate when there's a language barrier. Waited a bit to be seated for my appointment, but no big deal. And while I didn't partake, they do offer you a free beverage (water, sodas and wine)! Nice touch. They seemed to have a lot of regulars and that's always good to see. I want to make it clear, that while I will say some things, overall, I'm happy with my nails. The sample I picked maybe wasn't the best choice and the lady seemed unfamiliar with it, and it didn't turn out anything like what I thought, but I like it anyways. Supposed to be a magnetic swirl-type look, but ended up more stormy rain sparkle. See pic. No complaints, just facts. The nice lady did check with me and I did okay the rest of the set. Some of the edges are a bit rough, but again, overall, I'm happy. Excess top coat and such washed right off. I would go back again and maybe try another color. Check it out, as their prices are great. I paid for a fill and polish, which with the extra $10 for the magnetic polish was $57 and then left a $10 for tip. Which I thought was good and fair. Thanks for not letting my nails be in Christmas mode for new years. Thanks ladies!

All of the techs were very kind, and it was obvious their regulars are comfortable with them. Unfortunately, this is what I asked for vs what I ended up with. Incredibly thick and oddly two toned; not at all what I was hoping for. I definitely would have chosen something else if they'd mentioned not being able to do what was pictured, but she seemed very confident and not at all phased by my request so I wasn't expecting it to turn out like this. It is my fault I didn't speak up about my concerns, but she spent 90 minutes on my nails so I didn't feel comfortable saying anything in the moment. I do think they mean well, and they are very kind, I'm just not sure the quality is quite what I would expect.

I had an unfortunate first visit here. The two staff were very nice but switched back and forth working on my nails several times. I had a dip powder manicure previously. While taking off the old manicure they hurt me quite badly with the grinder. Now the next day my finger continues to hurt and it looks awful. The nail's themselves also aren't great. They appear lumpy and not finished well around the edges. I won't go back and I really hope my finger heals well. Maybe it was an off day but I won't risk going back. Update: well this has become a small nightmare. My finger did become infected and I had to take a course of antibiotics. This led to the unfortunate discovery of being allergic to said antibiotics and I actually had to be hospitalized to manage the symptoms for a short time. And to top it off my finger still doesn't look good. I think it will take months for it to look normal again. This has turned into the most expensive manicure I've ever had.

I couldn't have asked for a better post covid salon visit. Considerate and patient with the covid restrictions. And a very thorough massage and scrub. I also appreciate that this salon is comfortable for men. Half the clients during my visit were men. I live out of town but will visit again when I'm back in Portland.

Tinh Le (Lee) is wonderful. She did a beautiful job on my gel French manicure. So good, in fact, I now go to her regularly instead of where I had been going for some time. She's friendly, stays late if needed, and her work impeccable. I have referred friends to her, and even brought in (without an appointment) my assistant manager who showed off her nails at work for days after we went. I was hesitant to leave a review because I'm selfish & spoiled. I'm worried she'll become too busy and I will have to book far in advance. But Tinh Le (Lee) deserves success. Even if it means I'll have to wait my turn.

Okay so I liked going here when Jolie would do my nails but someone else recently did my nails and I got bad results . I left the nail salon with crooked, thick , badly shaped , and bleeding nails. I also told the lady that the top coat had glitter in it and I did not want the glitter and she just argued with me that it's part of my nail color (but it obviously was not part of my nail polish). After the older lady with short shoulder length hair finished painting my nails I just paid Jolie and left. I wasted 1 hr and 30 minutes and wasted $50 just for a fill that turned out to be a pain. I will not be coming back sadly . Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the final results because I just wanted to leave the salon, I was in pain and angry. (The green nails was from the first time I went the salon , Jolie did great but this new lady did not do my nails good this time)

Chipped Shellac two days after my appointment!

I'm really disappointed with the service I received. I came in after seeing some great reviews for kids pedicures, and sadly the shellac that they used has chipped on both my hands and my feet less than a week after getting them done. I went in and had my nails fixed after two chipped, and the following day the top coat started peeling off all my nails and now I have two nails that are totally ruined. Now for the pedicure....my feet are rough and peeling less than a week after my pedicure. Two toenails are also chipped already. I can usually go 3 weeks without having a chipped toe nail! At this point, I've already gone back to have my nails fixed once, so maybe the product they are using isn't a good product, I'm not sure. I'm really disappointed in the quality of this mani/pedi when I spent $150 on it...

Jolie did it again ! She always does an amazing job with my nails along with the best quality service! This time I did a walk-in and she was already working on a customer. However, she managed to multi-task and was able to work on two customers simultaneously! She did not fail to ensure that both customers were getting the best quality service, and manage her time wisely! She was able to switch on and off each time each customer needed to soak/dry their nails, or just found the perfect time to go back and forth between customers! Even after all of that, she managed to finish my nails in 15-20 minutes, which was even faster than I expected! [[HIGHLIGHT]]You're doing amazing at your job, Jolie! I hate to leave bad reviews. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say the 2 ladies that did my nails were very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately she cut my finger, it started to bleed she put something on my hand which burned. I was leaving for vacation the next day and my finger was swollen and sore for the entire trip. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I did book tips for my nails but there was a language barrier, so I did gel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Which was fine, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the manager came in and said to me "you booked for long nails" and she seemed upset and told me she would take of the gel and do the tips.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I said no, I had already been there for 45 mins. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then she proceeded to yell at her staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then she came to me and said you should have told them long nails, so next time say long nail because we can do that here you know? We do everything.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I won't be back. Thank god my finger didn't get infected, but it hurt like hell for like 5 days. I have had my nails done by Jollie 4 times now. She does amazing work. I like that I can show her a picture and she makes it happen. I get compliments all the time on my nails. The establishment is clean. They offer you items to drink. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. read more

Barely speak English I had to stop go to these places because 3/4 them don't even speak English and the ones that do only by a couple of words they certainly know the word money prices have gotten higher and they give a price to one customer and then the next one might squabble about the price so they give them a different price. Just not a good business. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I was a bit disappointed in my experience, which I was looking forward to because their photos online look so good! I got I think a relatively new nail tech for my acrylic fill...the visit took two hours for a basic fill, which normally I am okay with, but then the nails also had giant gaps in them too so it looks like they are already a week grown out from the appointment. I also opted to get the chrome polish (which is more expensive), and the tips were missed on almost all of the nails. They look okay from a distance but up close I am disappointed for the time and money I spent here. read more

The inside is nice and clean, every bright but a little small. There were 2 ladies working but there weren't that many people during 1pm on a wednesday. I probably had to wait like 10-15min which isn't so bad and got refreshments. I love how my nails turned out because i like how she did my nails slim and thin! Would come back for sure :) read more

I stopped by this place randomly and I'm so glad I did! Jolie did a fantastic job. She was very thorough and gave me exactly what I asked for based off the picture I showed her. She was very thoughtful and attentive regarding comfort and made sure to reassure me to let her know if I need anything. They have tons of options available but I like simple and went with the short ombré French nails. The location was easy to access and the salon was very clean. I highly recommend this location, you won't be disappointed! read more

My friend took me here, and I am so hooked! You don't need to bring your own file/buffer and it's so refreshing!! The colors are so adorable and beautiful. I had a difficult time making a choice about which color to choose. My nails were short to begin with, Linh did AMAZING! She took her time making sure that my nails were all colored and there wasn't any polish on my fingers. I will definitely be back. read more

This was our first time at Krystal's Nail Salon and we were very impressed. I'm very picky (a bit of a perfectionist) and often a bit critical of nail salons, so it came as a surprise to me to find how well we liked it. The women were very kind and everything was extremely clean. They had a wide variety of colors and materials needed for modern nail art. As for cost, they ran about average. Not overpriced but i didn't feel like we were getting a deal either. But, you get what you pay for. That being said, I highly recommend you check this nail salon out. read more

We went to Krystal nails yesterday for two pedicures, we called and made an appointment the day before for 11:00am. It's next to a Plaid Pantry in an area that we would never think to stop for nails. But when we walked into the salon it was so clean, comfortable and inviting! They greeted us at the door with great big smiles, and best welcome we have ever had at a salon! They had everything ready to go and even offer a complimentary beverage of our choice (can't beat that!) Now in the past I have never like using the massage chairs because they had always been to rough and intense but the one they had were brand new and amazing!!! Along with the massage they gave with our pedicures, it was just perfect! We laughed and had great conversations and it very relaxing, we will definitely be back! read more

What a wonderful little nail spot in my neighborhood! The staff and owner are so attentive and just nice people. They do an awesome pedicure with a long foot/leg massage. They also are following all recommendations during the pandemic and make me feel very safe when I'm there. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I've never been more compelled to write a review until today. After reading the reviews, I thought I would give this place a try. I should have seen the red flag when the nail tech had grabbed what seemed like an old nail file out. I hadn't seen anyone use the cuticle pusher upside down until now. The nail technician's eyes were less than 6 inches away from my toes. It was obvious that she was having problems seeing when she was filing my nails. After she had filed only three of my toes, she had cut me (on my middle toe). I started bleeding and she insisted that I soak my feet back into the foot bath. I wasn't about to do that. She acted as if I overreacted to the whole situation. I had never experienced bleeding from nail files until now. In all of my years, getting my nails done, this was the first time that had happened. The owner was apologetic about the whole situation, but I was fed up. I wasted my day off trying to get my nails done here and on top of that, I have to find another place to go. Aside from that, the owner had voiced that if clients used cards, it would run her out of business. She complained about a client using her card and had asked if they had Venmo instead. It was such an awkward encounter. I've never heard any business request Venmo as payment. read more

In fact, I generally go about 1-2 yrs between cuts because they are always that bad but for the first time since I left Southern California, I've found a stylist that knows what they're doing. Kris took my shoulder length hair and cut it into an AMAZING shag. (And provided fantastic conversation while doing it, really they're super cool.) I love it so much! I've gone from a girl who only wore her hair in a ponytail or braids to keeping it unbound. I've gotten so many compliments and I just love the cut -- I can wear it straightened and curly and it looks just as good both ways. I've found the person I want to keep doing my hair, and I will be back!

I had a mixed experience recently here- Gretchen was very nice through the appointment and seemed…read morevery knowledgeable and helpful. She responded very quickly to my message quickly when I expressed dissatisfaction with my hair afterward, and offered to redo the color but I'd rather wait for my hair to grow out as it's several inches too short and already has layers of color in it. I arrived at 11am for an appointment that my confirmation said would last until 1:30pm and we didn't finish until 4pm. She did my cut first and then did the baby lights- they added nice color and dimension to the hair as desired. But she then did my roots and combed the color through. While my color was processing, someone arrived for a haircut and had their haircut done while my color sat. Around 45 minutes later, my color was washed out and was darker than I expected- most of the baby lights were no longer visible. She mentioned the color will fade to be lighter as expected, but the result was surprising. I also asked for 2 inches or so to be cut, and mentioned I wanted to be able to put my hair in a ponytail still. When facing the mirror, the length was going great and she showed me it could still go in a ponytail. When turned around, I lost several inches for some reason and there was no going back. She took off even more in the back, and I left unable to put my hair in a ponytail. I'm not sure if there was a miscommunication and she thought I wanted the grow out to be able to be in a ponytail, but I don't think so since she initially showed me she could put it in a ponytail. By 4pm I was tired and hungry and ready to get home- she asked if I wanted to see the hair blown out and styled which I did but just wasn't up for given the 5 hours I'd been there so I said no. There was also another person waiting for their 4pm appointment to start. When I did straighten it at home, I was surprised by my hair. I've gotten cuts that suit curly hair on many occasions and have always been able to wear the cuts straight too. This cut when straight appears uneven and choppy. The transition to the short back is awkward. She'd mentioned that at the end she'd go through and do any evening, cutting of long pieces etc needed but by then, as I'd mentioned, someone had shown up for another appointment at 4 and no additional cutting was done. I'm not sure if it was an off day, if my hair just took a few hours longer than expected or if she typically stacks appointments but things seemed rushed between the clients. I've never had someone try to do a whole haircut while dye sits on and I felt like my dye was likely left on too long due to it which resulted in the darker hair and missing baby lights. I've included pictures of my hair before the appointment length wise, what I asked for, and what I got. Given the many positive reviews, I'd say this could be chalked up to an off experience but given the starkly different results I thought it was worth sharing.

I was impressed with the cleanliness of the salon, the friendly greeting, the soothing music, the offer of a complimentary beverage and the menu of services. I had some time to spare, so I opted for a three deluxe offerings in addition to the mani/pedi: sugar exfoliation, hot stone massage and a hot wax treatment. Ive gone to dashing diva nails on 20th and burnside about once every 3 weeks for the past year or so for acrylics and pedicures. Last time I was there they cut the shit out of my toe and tried to close it with nail glue so it got all weird and infected. So, I decided to try Krystal's nails this time instead and I'm so glad I did. It's the happiest I've ever been with my acrylics. Everyone was super friendly and Jolie is an artist!
