I love the food here and the super quick service is the icing on the cake. Oh wait, the frozen yogurt they give you with your food is but the service is really fast. I typically get the tuna tower which and a seaweed salad. Today I decided to swap the seaweed salad for a side of tofu. The tuna tower is delicious! They make the tuna tower slightly different here and I have no complaints at all. You chose between a small or regular. The small is what I consider a bit more than a normal portion so it is plenty enough and for $7 that's fantastic. They give you the tuna tower not in the shape of a tower but with all ingredients in a bowl like container. They give you avocado, tuna, roe, choice of rice, crab and a few other items I can't remember. This way they serve it is what I believe makes for the large portion. The seaweed salad is good but I don't recommend the tofu. There wasn't too much flavor so I had to add lots of seasoning. They have so many tea options. If you are obsessed with tea as I am then you will absolutely love this place. I think there's 7 different tea options; sweet, unsweetened and even decaf. Let's not forget one of the best parts! The frozen yogurt they give you with your order. Granted its a small cup but it is complimentary and tasty! The froyo they had today was tart and raspberry. If you're sick of the sandwich and fast food chains for downtown lunch options, then Kuai will hit the spot. The prices include tax and the ingredients are much healthier. The Spring Roll soup is great and a pho-like alternative for their soups. At under 300 calories, it's wonderful for pho cravings. The edamame is good, and the spring rolls are ok. Siracha is on the counter so you can spice up whatever you order, including the peanut sauce. Be sure to tell them you're a first time visitor and they'll give you a free drink. If you bring a new friend, you also get a free drink. I haven't tried the Ahi Tower bowl yet, but am excited that you can get brown rice which is an option on all their dishes. Enjoy! read more

My favorite is the Thai chicken curry it is a blend of coconut milk and peanuts which gives it a thicker and creamier consistency the most curries. They serve fusion food so it's not traditional but it's always fresh and they have quality ingredients. read more

Hey, it's pretty good. I got a cup of pork and shrimp wonton and also the 4-pack of pork dumplings. The wonton soup came with about 4 dumplings which had the shrimp and pork inside. It actually had decent pieces of shrimp in it. The broth and dumplings burned my tongue--it was hot! It came with chopped bok choy. I wish it came with more and also wish it had white pepper. Otherwise, it was very tasty and I finished it all. The dumplings were also good and came with 5 instead of 4 dumplings. My total was $7.50 and for me, this was a bargain. Since I am new to this office, I am glad there is quick, decent and cheap food in the building. I will definitely return next time I get tired of my sack lunch. read more

Mix the hoisin, Siracha, and peanut sauce together for the spring roll dipping sauce. The beef broccoli dish was also very good. First off, Kuai is downtown on the concourse level of the Republic Tower so you have to take the escalator down from the street. Once you get down there the restaurant itself is pretty small with no real seating to speak of, but right outside there are tables and chairs that you can use. They are only open for lunch so it supposedly gets really busy and crowded, but when I went it wasn't bad at all. I had five chicken dumplings, hot n sour soup, and the seaweed salad; all of these things were great. The dumplings were tender and flavorful, and there are four different dipping sauces to pick from. The hot n sour soup was great, it has a similar taste to most hot n sour soups you will find, but the ground pork and baby corn in it gives it a better, more unique flavor. The seaweed salad was very tasty, and fresh. I even got a free frozen yogurt with my meal, which was nice. They also have a good selection of iced teas to drink, probably around eight different ones. If you are not a fan of dumplings they also have an assortment of rice bowls to choose from , I went back and had one of these and it was very good. Overall I really liked Kuai's, and if you live/work downtown it would be well worth a trip down there. read more

This is definitely the best hot and sour soup I've ever had in my life - all the soups are homemade. They are launching a tuna tartar salad and smoked salmon salad - got to sample both and they are both delicious! The dumplings are decent - steamed. They also offer rice bowls, which I hear are delicious. The value is really hard to beat though....$5.50 for 8 dumplings, $3.50 for a bowl of soup! I would be here every week if I worked downtown -it's a little tricky navigating the underground if you aren't familiar, but those willing to go on the quest will be handsomely rewarded! This place is pretty great... It's located in the tunnels downtown, and is about a 2 minute walk from my office. On top of that, they're super fast and super cheap so this is my go-to place when I need to grab lunch really fast and don't want to spend a bunch of money. The food is good too, but I've learned a couple things. They have some really good rice bowls with grilled chicken, veggies and brown or jasmine rice. In a fit of healthfulness, I went for the veggies in place of rice option and will never do that again. While the steamed veggies (pretty much just broccoli and onion) were cooked well, they made the whole thing pretty watery so I could barely taste the sauce. I've had the curry bowl before with rice though, and it was pretty tasty. They're dumpling are really really good and make for a perfect light lunch along with a seaweed salad or some edamame. Like today -- I got a big shrimp summer roll with peanut sauce and some edamame for just $5.00!!!! It's not 5-star cuisine, but it's pretty darn good, especially for the price and service. I have been coming here for lunch since our offices relocated to downtown over ten years ago. This place always has a line out the door but it moves very quickly. You are greeted by a friendly staff and a great lunch for the value. The dumplings are wonderfully steamed (no dry edges on these) and have the perfect dumpling to filling ratio. I've worked in the Comerica tower for more than two years, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover Kuai. I just had one of the tastiest rice bowls of my life: the Thai Chicken Bowl with brown rice. It had an amazing flavor and was the perfect amount of food. I don't know where else you can get as much flavor and quality for $5.50 downtown. Also, when I mentioned it was my first visit as I was asking about different bowls, they gave me a free drink and frozen yogurt cup (both are self-serve). They have a wide selection of teas, and the tart frozen yogurt was great - although I made the mistake of sprinkling heath bar on top (not a good combo). Oh, and the girls at the counter were very friendly. The fact that this place is known for its dumplings makes me all the more excited to come back and try their other stuff. Occasionally, I have weeks where I do Kuai for lunch 3-4 times. It's so great to be able to get something other than a sandwich, and they have some healthy, low-cal options. One thing i really appreciate is that, even though Kuai is a small business with only a few locations, its website has nutritional information that's easy to find. You can also get out of here for lunch for less than $10 (or much less than that if you're carrying back to your office and don't get a drink). If you spend more than $7.50 (I think), you get free frozen yogurt. Highly recommend the veggie and pork dumplings. They have 4-5 sauces for dipping, though I do wish they'd put out the traditional vinegar/soy sauce. I've never understood why they don't have it. My go-to lately has been the tuna tower, although I mix it up by getting the thai bowl (red curry sauce with coconut milk and peanut with steamed chicken, basil, and red pepper over rice). But if you take it for what it is, then it's satisfying and decent portions. The dumplings themselves were just ok. There wasn't much flavor with the chicken filling unless you drowned them in sauce. The dumplings were nothing spectacular and honestly reminded me of the frozen packs of Chinese dumplings I buy at my local Asian grocery store. You can get your rice bowl with white or brown rice, and you can substitute tofu for chicken in any dish as well. (Note for vegetarians: the Thai Bowl is based with fish sauce). They do small and regular sizes, and the small is pretty sizable for a lunch portion. We also tried the vegetarian dumplings, which were great! I would come back for these before coming back for the rice bowls. They have 4 different sauces for the dumplings you can try as well. My friend got a "small" hot and sour soup -- very different from your traditional hot & sour soup. It has ground pork and baby corn in it, which I've never seen before. This is what a restaurant should be. I walked in at 10:30 and was the only one in the restaurant. The guy behind the counter said they were closed but offered to check and see what they had ready. Three minutes later, he brought out the chicken rice bowl I wanted. Then he asked if it was my first time at Kuai. When I confirmed, he handed me a cup and said that first timers get free drinks. The people that work here are super friendly. The dumplings are pretty good. This was a fall-back place for me but writing them off. Most dishes are watery as they take the same steamed chicken/veggies then pour water based "sauce" over at the last minute. They used to be a good value for the "5oz" chicken side if you wanted to add some protein to your lunch but now they are charging you for the dipping sauces if you only get a side. Ordered two Large Beijing Orange Chicken bowls on Uber Eats. 1st issue: Didn't taste like orange at all. Tasted like some weird mixture of soy, apple, and cinnamon or something. It was fine, I got one of their bowls (orange chicken). If it is your first time here, you get an iced tea for free. Normally I would not mention this, but they actually have a variety of tea flavors that they mix in-house (I think) . I got the ginger honey, which turned out to be too gingery for my taste, but I enjoyed the mango peach more. The bowl itself has so much potential, but it lost me on the flavor. My orange chicken was really bland and watery, and did not taste citrusy. It was just some generic brown sauce with chicken. Really wanted an Asian lunch spot and took forever to find the tunnel. However, I was disappointed on both occasions. (Gave them a second chance.) This is your typical Americanized Asian food. Everything was missing something. I got the Ahi Tuna the first time. For the price, the portions are extremely small. To give it credit, the fish was fresh enough to not have any weird taste. Honestly, not that bad but far from Japanese restaurant standards. Too salty also. I got the coconut soup the second time. Totally disappointed. The soup was overly salty. Probably has tons of MSG. (I got extremely thirsty after drinking the soup and usually that's a sign.) There's no vegetables in it. Everything was just wrong. Didn't try the dumplings, but I read from the other reviewer that it tastes like supermarket frozen dumplings so I skipped. Went there with 3 guys from work. we all agreed the food here was very subpar. It feels like they are trying to throw a lot of items at you (indian, korean, japanese, chinese, and fro yo!??) . The quality of each dish though was not there . My dish had the sauce on top, not cooked into the chicken, the rice was lumpy, and some pieces of my broccoli were only partially cooked. I got the steamed pork dumplings and they are great! They are big and the skin is really thin. This is an authentic Chinese dish and it's pretty hard to find dumplings better than Kuai's. I also tried the spicy egg drop soup, it's a little busy with ingredients but the flavor is good. I love their selection of ice teas, it's good to see they have unsweetened teas, I hate sugar. Kuai at its simplest definition is an Asain Fast Food joint. They serve dumplings, rice bowls, and a breif assortment of soups and sides. There are days you forget your lunch, and the last thing you want to do is to spend $5 at Subway, and this place is a nice alternative to that option. I usually order their small Marco Polo bowl without rice, sub extra veggies (this equates to steamed chicken, broccoli, onions and carrots). Its solidly dependable, but not what I would call 5 stars. The staff is incredibly friendly and even if its a lengthy line, you never have to wait long. Worth a try if you need to mix it up in the Dallas Tunnels for lunch. read more
