Damn. Really bummed at this place because it used to be decently priced. Tried to give it another shot after not going for a while, but it's still just not worth what you pay for. The rolls have shrunk. There is 0 service. You're paying sit down sushi restaurant prices for a shitty fast food-like experience. They don't even have silverware or bottles of soy sauce anymore, just disposable chop sticks and packets. The whole place feels so cheap. And the size and quality of the rolls show it. It feels like they scaled back for Covid times, didn't return to being a full service restaurant, and then still kept/raised the prices as if it were still operating as a full service sushi restaurant. The staff try, they really do. It's not their fault. It's just a poorly ran restaurant. Sushiya has same quality rolls for half the price. The busser even suggested we go there instead. My husband and I live in Osos and have been here a few times. The food has always been amazing and the service is just as good. We recently went and sat at the bar and were served by Tim. The ramen broth here has gone down in quality; it did not taste like authentic tonkotsu! The small size is actually tiny, with few noodles. It wasn't very hot either. The tempura had only three kinds of veggies (yam, red onion and broccoli cut in large sizes that did not fit in the dipping sauce container) with medium sized shrimp. It was hot and crunchy, though. One of the best sushi places I have ever been to. I have come here several times of the past few years and finally found the time to leave a review! Tonight we ordered the Morro Bay Bombay Roll, Caterpillar Roll and Itchy Dragon Roll!, All fresh and great! We had the Yellowtail Carpaccio which was the tables favorite and Tuna Tattaki as well as several of the salads and Appetizers. The services was great! Multiple people cane to check on us including the chefs and manager. We were talking about hope great everything was all the way home. It can get busy so plan ahead, but this place knows what they are doing and never disappoint! The ambiance is casual and laid back just like the rest if Los Osos! I wasn't a huge fan of this place. The employees are so nice but the food is not the best or the freshest. We got the chorizo gyozas to share, and while the flavor was pretty good they were so small and also cold. I got the shoyu ramen and again it just wasn't hot or satisfying. Greasy, you have to pay extra for add-on's like an egg, and bland. The food is SO expensive for the amount you get.. and the sushi rolls average $20?! Appears to be a house when you arrived here.Huge sign and arrow pointing to a walkway. Followed the sign and found this cute little establishment. Order inside and you are provided with a number to place on your table. Seating is outside and if your cold heaters are on. If not just ask. Cute and cozy establishment that got busy after we arrived. Food is fresh and DELICIOUS. Prices are reasonable. Ramen arrived hot. Portions are a good size. Great place for ramen and sushi in Los Osos that's the same owners as Sylvester's Burgers but is completely different. The service is hit or miss (one star knocked off for this reason) with ordering changed to order at the counter (used to be table service) but the place is cozy with a nice courtyard shared with two other restaurants. It's nice to eat outside here if it's warm enough (which is a challenge in Los Osos) otherwise there's a few tables and the bar inside. The ramen bowls here are among the best on the Central Coast and most of the sushi rolls here are really good too. Sometimes they'll do lunch or rainy day specials. Pretty good food, not amazing and not awful, but I don't have very high standards for sushi since i just get an avocado roll or california roll & teriyaki chicken bowl. The rice is almost always undercooked. Every time I go there, I order edamame with my sushi, and I get the edamame wayyyyy after my sushi was delivered. Been trying to make our way here when it wasn't busy but I honestly don't think that's a thing. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. Service was fast and the runners were super friendly. When we ordered they were up front saying it would be a bit of a wait for our sushi. Surprisingly they were faster than they said and did a great job of keeping the rolls coming. We started with the Sunomono which is always a crowd favorite. It was super fresh with just the right amount of seasoning. Now for the rolls: garlic chip roll if you aren't a garlic fan don't order this. I then proceeded to eat the remaining crispy garlic after fighting for the pieces of fresh fish in this roll. I think that one might have been my favorite. Next came the rainbow roll, red eye, Morro Bombay which has some nice spice to it, the eel roll (I skipped this cause I'm not an eel fan), shrimp tempura roll and a delicious order of maguro. It was all so good!!! The runners were super nice and always checked up even with being as busy as they were. Now I can't wait to come back to try their Ramen! First time eating here and definitely our last. We got food poisoning from the food. That morning (2-8-25) at 6:15am we both ate a premade store bought breakfast burritos and water. The rest of the day nothing but water. We ate here about 3pm and by 6pm we were starting to feel sick. Our order: 2 lemonades, jalapeño poppers, beef teriyaki bowl (for me) and 1 firecracker roll and 1 Itchy Dragon roll. $62.57 I ate 1 small bite of the jalapeño poppers (personally didn't like it) about 1/2 of the small beef bowl, 2 piece of the firecracker roll and I ate 1 piece of the itchy dragon roll and my husband ate the rest of the poppers and the sushi. He began feeling sick shortly after 6pm and by 8pm was vomiting profusely. I suffered extreme nausea and painful stomach cramps but never threw up. My husband threw up until 4am 2-9-25 and remained extremely sick until the morning of 2-10-25. He is still sick but showing signs of improvement. Neither of us have eaten a single thing since this meal it's now 9:45am 2-10-25. I encourage everyone to view this restaurants health inspection reports available on the San Louis Obispo health department website to view their fairly recent violations. If we had done this first we never would have gone there to eat. We have also filed our incident with the health department in hopes that no one has to go through this again. If you are visiting Central Coast, take a drive to Montaña de Oro State Park for one of the most beautiful place (off the beaten path) for a visit then on the way back stop to Kuma Sushi for lunch or dinner in Los Osos. We have always love their ramens but this time we ordered the yellow tail collars (not on the menu and you have to ask). First time for us and OMG - t's the best thing ever! Fish collars are a piece of fish that comes from along the clavicle, the muscle that we call the collarbone. The chef said he coated them in a light seasoning and fried them. They were super crunchy, moist with so much meat. We also had our special sushi rolls with the fish. Love this little Kuma restaurant and thank you chef! read more

We went on a Sunday at 2pm and it was pretty busy and took about 15-20 min to get our ramen, but understandable wait because of the good deal we were getting. There is lots of cute outdoor seating and the portion of ramen was great. I was full for hours after!! We ordered the spicy miso broth with chicken and added a few add-ins like spinach, garlic chips, and kimchi. Definitely a sodium overload but tasted super yummy and was nice and spicy. Really impressed by Kuma! We visited around noon on a Sunday and beat the crowd by minutes. We came for ramen, but will be back to try more!!
