    Honey Lemonade
    Grace V.

The honey lemonade was delicious! I loved it with the boba. The inside of the place was cozy and had cool decorations on the walls. The one complaint I have is that the entrance was not accessible at all. The step was loose and it was hard to navigate going in. If I didn't have the door to hold onto, I would have tripped! I am visually impaired and there was no contrast with the steps either. But overall, I had a good experience.

    Taro Milk Tea

My least favorite Kung Fu Tea location. We got the most popular flavor, a large taro milk tea with less ice and less sugar with plain boba. What we received didn't look or taste like taro milk tea. We confirmed if it was really taro and they said yes. We assume they made it with black tea and so the color was off but it also just tasted like brown sugar milk tea. I don't know what was 'taro' about it. The 'less sugar' was still so sweet that IDK what full sugar would be. On top of that, the boba was sweetened. Like, why? Why should regular boba be that sweet? It was a sugar rush for sure, but not what we ordered.

Entrance to Kung Fu Tea Symphony Massachusetts Ave. Boston

My mother enjoys her taro milk tea at Kung Fu Tea. I've noticed a couple of ongoing issues that really need attention. First, the bricks at the entrance are loose and scattered, which is a major safety concern. It has been like this for over a year and getting worse. My mother uses a wheelchair, and it's extremely difficult--and even dangerous--for her to get inside safely. It's disappointing that accessibility hasn't been better addressed. I've brought it to the attention of the staff and they are dismissive. Second, there have been times when we've come during posted business hours only to find a handwritten "on break" sign and the store temporarily closed. I totally understand that employees need breaks, but there should be better communication or staffing to avoid this kind of surprise for customers. I'm sharing this in the hopes that it helps improve the experience for everyone--especially those with mobility challenges.

Solid boba spot. They sometimes make mistakes with the orders (missing boba in a hot drink, wrong ice level) but the people are really nice here, and I like their drinks a lot, so I just come and risk it :) My go-to is the wintermelon green milk tea. I think the shop extended their hours, so now they are open until 11 pm, which I appreciate!

I've enjoyed KFT at many other locations but this store was only so-so for me. While my wintermelon green milk tea was nicely flavored, the boba was rather hard and undercooked in the center. Service was prompt but not particularly friendly - perhaps I visited on an off day. On the plus side, this store has a bright, spacious interior with ample seating. And by paying through the Kung Fu Tea app, you can get a free drink after two purchases and frequent deals like free toppings or discounted drinks. I may come back if there's a really good drink deal and I'm in the area, but will otherwise opt for other boba shops in Newbury and Chinatown.

So if you're sick of pictures of me And the legs and high heels of Barbie There's one antidote Get some balls in your throat Get Lemon Black at Kung Fu Tea! I have a massive soft spot for this Kung Fu Tea because it was the first one I ever tried in Boston, and coming to Boston was seminal (not semenal, that was New York), and it was my first stop for Boba in town, and I loved it. That's because it's right near the gym which I like to use when I'm in Boston - about 5 minutes walk from this store, which makes it even more awesome. And Que Sera, Sera Whatever will be, will be The future is Kung Fu Tea Que Sera, Sera What to get: Lemon Black Tea With Tapioca! Or: All the fruit teas are pretty good, especially if you go off menu and get black tea! Or: Go crazy and order your fruit teas with the very strong Oolong! Or in winter: Any of the hot milk teas! Which milk teas are best: Honey Oolong! Oolong! Maybe Taro or Almond! I also love the regular milk tea with Oreo! Service was nice and the place was absolutely packed wall-to-wall with people, which made it even more nice. I like to be in busy places, it makes me feel ever so slightly alive. The lemon black tea was definitely tasty, and the decor is awesome, imaginative, bright and adorable, even in the bathrooms. I love the neon blue lighting, it reminds me of Barbie or a red light district (same thing really). I'm surprised to say this is probably my favourite Kung Fu Tea location in Boston - and believe me I tried all of them - probably because of the decor, the popularity, but the fact that it's not claustrophobic and is in a great area. Way bigger than it looks on the outside, for sure, just like Barbie's, oh man is that the time, better wrap up this review. I went with two scoops, black raspberry and brownie chocolate, and the brownie was killer. Rich, chocolatey, and totally worth standing outside in 30 degree weather to eat it. I devoured it without hesitation. There were so many great flavor options, and my friends all found something they loved too. It felt like one of those classic, must-stop dessert spots. Cold, delicious, and just the right amount of chaotic fun... it was wicked good.

Just had a really odd experience at this location…read more I ordered a small cup of a special flavor (sticky toffee pudding). The server asked if I wanted any toppings. I said, "Yes please, I'd like M&Ms." The server, and another person working behind the counter, both told me that they just ran out of M&Ms. They didn't have any more. This was weird to me. As I was walking to the the shop, I passed a person who had a small cup of ice cream with both m&m's and oreo topping. Okay, I thought. That's weird but so be it. Then, I scootch over to look at the rest of the toppings and what do I see? M&Ms. I point out the M&M's to the employee and ask, "hey, aren't those M&M's?" They mumbled something back that I didn't exactly catch. They either said "those are closed" or "those are skittles" or "it's not those". "those are closed" makes no sense because they asked if I wanted toppings and it was 2 and a half hours before they closed. "those are skittles" makes no sense because they don't carry skittles as a topping... The whole experience was perplexing to me. Anyways, JP Licks is pretty overrated and too expensive. $6.5+ for the smallest size is not worth it. They have some decent flavors (cookies n' cake batter) though and the ice cream is usually pretty well executed and not icy. still, not really a place i'd recommend and won't be going back for a while after this freak incident. Attached photos are the proof that they had M&Ms. Note the "M" on the candy and the blue colored candies (they don't make blue skittles)

We weren't sure how to enter, so we started in the bookstore and found their convenient elevator downstairs! The restaurant is tiny but cozy, which is the perfect atmosphere for a book store! We sat outside in the little courtyard and it's a mix of magical and relaxing! There were only a few tables, so it wasn't overcrowded and with nice weather, it was perfect. We walked into a building with the kind of architectural character that chain bookstores cannot manufacture, with small rooms opening into each other across multiple floors, wallpapered walls, and reading nooks distributed throughout that invite you to slow down rather than move through quickly. The book selection is well curated with staff recommendation cards on the shelves that actually reflect genuine enthusiasm rather than perfunctory notes. We saw limited edition hardcovers and local and regional titles appearing alongside the broader fiction and nonfiction selection. Browsing felt productive rather than overwhelming because the curation kept things focused. The kids section upstairs is one of the more delightful in Boston, with a train running along a track near the ceiling that tends to make a strong impression on younger visitors. There is also an art print vending machine on the second floor that draws its own audience of visitors looking for something small and specific to take home. The cafe occupies the lower level and operates as a separate experience from the bookshop above. We ordered the oat milk cappuccino with Vermont maple syrup, which was worth it. The morning glory scone and the popovers are two other items to consider. The cafe is tiny, around eight tables inside with a small patio, and reservations are recommended for breakfast and afternoon tea service. Pricing at the cafe is on the higher end, and certain fixed price service formats on specific dates push it considerably further, so checking current pricing before booking is worth doing. For a bookshop that doubles as a destination in its own right, Beacon Hill Books and Cafe delivers a cozy, curated experience that rewards lingering. It is the kind of place we would return to just to sit and read with a good coffee.
