I got my food bento box the lil salad was tasteless and greasy ok no big! I had and up charge for the fried rice I got steamed instead. I thought I will just eat it and take it off the bill! Nope dry! So I tell are server so she brings me my five dollar up charge tiny bowl of fried rice! The rest of food was really good! First of all, I want to say the people who work there are very nice. But lunch was very disappointing and super expensive. we ordered the lunch special with shrimp and it was supposed to be according to the menu about $20 each. It included shrimp, salad, 4 California rolls and rice. They forgot the salad dressing and they forgot the wonton in the salad. Where they used to provide spicy dipping sauce. It was now two dollars and change per sauce. They charge $4.12 for an upgrade to fried rice. We got the bill and they charge $26 and change per lunch. I explain to the waitress the price was wrong and she said maybe they raised the rates and it's not reflected on the menu yet. I said I want the rate that the menu quoted she finally went to a manager and they adjusted it before the tip with a lunch special it was $53.57. What can I say, this place is great. The service is ALWAYS on time and the staff is super courteous. I've been here with friends and family and even pretend stab you in the back friend's, all occasions were awesome, well except for the pretend stab you in the back friend's, they will be besties with a chick I know named Karma. A real bitch. The event's they have are pretty awesome, the table were they cook in front of you are pretty cool, Eddie always makes it fun. Ordered the large sunomono and the crabby roll. The sunomono salad had very very thinly sliced cucumbers which was nice. There was a fair amount of octopus and crab included as well. I love this place! Been here many times and I crave the FSU roll often. Most subtle but important detail is their beer tap is rotating an awesome selection regularly. They even had a great Helles which is one of my favorite beers but hard to have on the reg(although it might be making a comeback). Went there on Weds. 4-21-21 which was our first time in over a year(covid life). We walked in right away and asked for simple a regular table. The hostess stated it would be 20 minutes and she didn't take our name. There was one gentlemen in front of us and he got a table in 5 minutes, he later ordered and waited for his food. My wife and I waited for 25 minutes, during which time the hostess NEVER acknowledged us again and walked by us dozens of times. During our 25 minutes the staff cleared a table and then no one was ever seated at it. We finally walked out never acknowledged. Plenty of place to eat tempura and sushi. Lost a customer. read more

We sat down and we order two sushi rolls, one chicken dinner, a Katsu chicken dinner, a kids meal and a bowl of Ramen. The bowl of Ramen broth had very little flavor. The Katsu chicken dinner was lacking seasoning. Bland would best describe both of those dishes. The chicken dinner with beans sprouts and vegetables was super salty. The only thing that really was worth the price where the sushi rolls. For the quality of food and cost of the items were too high. The second waitress even came by to tend to a table literally diagonal from us and refilled their water with the water pitcher and didn't think to give us a water refill. This is my favorite tepan place in town. The dining's amazing. The bars amazing and the tepan chefs are amazing. I'd recommend getting a New York over filet, don't spend the extra few bucks when it all tastes pretty the same anyways. I get my steaks blue! So basically... rare. Don't knock it till you try it. get Brussels sprouts but with ginger! Changes the whole taste of them! Chicken, ask for hot and spicy but ask them to make it "special" you won't be disappointed. (Ask for Steven, he's amazing) Every experience I have here exceeds the one prior. The cooks are always so good and The waitresses are always on top of it. Drinks are great prices and its a fun time. Came here for teppanyaki and had a great time. Absolutely loved the fried fried and the tender calamari and scallops (my husband got the lunch trio and the chicken and steak were also so tender and delicious). The shrimp was also good. I like how light and refreshing the salad was and the service was great. We went to KuniSama this past weekend and had a horrible experience. The service was horrible. There was only one waitress and it took us forever almost an hour to get our food! They were way too busy with only one waitress, one person in the bar and maybe 2 people cooking. Service was bad I had to wait in line to get a box, a refill, my check, anything really. I get places can be busy, but they need more help there or at least apologize for the wait times. read more

What should have been a lovely Christmas dinner turned out to be a Winter Wonder Where the Hell is Our Food?! A simple meal for Thirteen took half an hour to order, and another hour to receive the food. Drink refills took 3 requests before they came, leading us to question if this place was so awful that half the staff just quit and walked out! Clearly the standard of service doesn't exist as the food came out by the SECOND HOUR! Any gratitude or at least merciful pity on this establishment died when all of the food was so cold, there was a 98% chance it was all leftovers from the fridge. Of course, the frosty experience was shared by everyone as the air conditioning was blasting IN THE DEAD OF DECEMBER, leaving the party shivering. My only 2 complaints; (1) I didn't order more hot and spicy sauce; (2) I didn't order the side of mushrooms I was contemplating when ordering. I downloaded and ordered from the KS app. I wasn't sure about it because I thought, 'they're own app, is it really any better than the other food ordering apps?' It was super quick and easy to download and use. There were a few more items on the KS app than there were on the food delivery app. for example, desserts. Either way I had to pick up because I'm too far for delivery. The food: SO good! I've ordered to-go "teppanyaki" before, and it did not taste the same. This is on point! Just like it tastes when it's cooked in front of you. The portion sizes were just the same, it was packed with care, and delicious! And the dessert was...SO...GOOD! I was also surprised at their offerings; anything you would normally order, was available on the app. During this whole COVID pandemic, I think many people have tried to find ways to supplement what used to be normal, that is no longer, in order to maintain some sense of normalcy, and if ever there was an offering of "comfort food," or "normal food," during an abnormal time, this is it! I've been wanting teppanyaki for months now, but given the nature of how teppanyaki is prepared and all of these social distancing/stay at home orders, it's not surprising that teppanyaki isn't something readily available at the moment, UNTIL you order from KS! We both ordered the New York steak dinner that came with miso soup n side salad, tempura veggies with a dip & steamed rice but we opted for bacon fried rice for a little extra charge. 5 stars to the amazing sushi chef that served me and my younger brother today! I've been here once before when they first opened I dont remember what my experience was like then so this is pretty much a first time experience. You walk through the door, to the left, you'll see a nice little waiting seating area and the bar and teppan place. To the right, the check in counter. Me and my brother waited a very short time for the hostess to walk back after helping other customers. Straight ahead was the sushi bar. Which is where we asked to be seated. She seated us then came back with 2 fairly sized menus (quite a bit to chose from here) and she informed us our waitress would be here soon. Our waitress came up with a timely manner and introduced herself (Nancy) she took our drink orders and came back. I ordered a hot tea, was not provided sugar on the side, however I did not mind asking at all. Unfortunately I do not remember our sushi chefs name, however he was so AWESOME! He answered all our questions joked and laughed with us and made out experience quite enjoyable. He checked on us a few times during our meal. Sitting at the sushi bar everything is in front of you so you get to watch and communicate with the waitresses and sushi chefs. Fast forward I'm done with my tea and my brother is almost done with his drink. Nancy was doing what appeared to be side work to the left behind the sushi bar (as a previous waitress I understand the work place gets busy!) However I'm just slightly disappointed with the lack of being asked for a refil or clearing the pile of plates we neatly stacked for less clean up for the waiting staff. Then the bill came in which was way off so I mentioned to her .... because I was expecting to be charged what was on the kids menu for my kids which I had repeatedly asked about in regards to the pricing just to be on the same page....(no where did it sat excluding weekends so & so hours)... the waiter returned & told me that things had changed that I was suppose to pay more for my kids 12.95 per kid to be exact which was NO WHERE on the kids menu that price. Even though the kids menu clearly said 7.95... she continued to say that they were going ahead & discount me 5 dollars each kid this once? which left me puzzled.... because I was following their menu pricing ... what I disliked the most was the waiters demeanor disregard towards my family & I she was very inattentive... we had to go boxes & we had to carry them in our hands we did not have the chance to even ask staff for a bag. I was torn in giving this place 3 stars the 3 stars was for the bad waitress service but those cooks deserved like a 10.... Me and my fiancé came here. We wanted to try out a new restaurant. From the moment we walked in the door we stood there waiting for 10 minutes to be seated at a table. No one greeted or even had the courtesy to tell us that they're busy, but it'll take a few minutes so we can sit down at a table. The staff just looked at us and went back to their jobs while we just stood there waiting. Anyway, we just walked out and decided to eat elsewhere. Kunisama used to be one of my favorite restaurants, especially for takeout sushi and ramen, but I was terribly disappointed in the quantity and quality of what I got today, especially for 1.5 to 2x the price it used to be. I ordered tuna and smoked salmon nigiri through DoorDash early this evening. It arrived shortly after pickup and well packaged, no problems there. I would've been ok paying the significantly-increased price for the same quantity and quality I used to get at Kunisama, but the portions were the tiniest I've ever been served at any sushi restaurant anywhere over the past 25 years, and the fish was cut so thin I could almost see through it. The fish was also lacking in flavor and a bit dry (like it wasn't the best quality to begin with and had been sitting uncovered for a while), and the rice was bland and unseasoned. You shouldn't be called a teppanaki restaurant when you still don't serve teppanaki in front of people. They do it in the back now. We had a party of 9. Three had sushi/sashimi and six had teppanaki. Six plates came with ice cold food. How often does a teppanaki restaurant change from being Japanese/Teppanaki focused to serving poor boys and street tacos. The thing that's most upsetting is when they called me after I booked online I asked about teppanaki and fitting 9 around the table, and they didn't say they didn't have teppanaki tables anymore. Prior to Covid this used to be my favorite teppanyaki place. Unfortunately things have changed a lot since the last time I went here. They no longer do the teppanyaki infront of you which is not a big deal, you can still purchase it for dine in, but it no longer tastes the same and is not worth the money. Usually you get a lot of rice and fresh meat. The meat we had was very dry and lacking flavor. We only got a few vegetables and our service was not good at all. We kept having to ask for refills of water (she'd fill the cup up 1/2 way then leave) and we were never checked on. It felt awkward and uncomfortable. The prices on some things also went up and they had a small sign outside but menus are not updated. My gyozas were good, but that was it. I've gone once for teppanyaki and another time for sushi! I have been a devoted customer to Sakura Chaya for 4 years and had wondered where most of the master chefs had moved on to-- you know, the authentic Asian chefs that know their measurements to a T and can perform all the crazy tricks. I came to Kunisama for teppan and as I looked around I realized the cooks looked familiar. They had been the original chef from other Japanese cuisine restaurants in Clovis and Fresno. This was great because the food was exactly to my taste and exceeded my standards! Sushi experience I went with 3 friends and all of us really liked our rolls! We ordered the Dragon roll, Tokyo Blossom roll, rainbow roll, and crabby roll. No complaints, we had a good experience for both teppanyaki and sushi dining. We will return :) read more

I'm so sad because I use to love this place. I loved their food but man the quality has gone down. All the food we ordered, which we've had numerous times before, was awful. Wonton nacho's we're drowned in grease, when we tipped the plate, all the grease slopped to one side, meat was old. My plate, meat and rice was old and cold and I didn't even touch the grease soaked veggies. My daughters ramen was disgusting! Soggy noodles, in what tasted just like warm water, no flavor.
