my first experience was via delivery and this review is for a dine-in. Our party of 2 was seated immediately at 2pm Friday. The establishment is pretty small but can seat maybe 15 or so guests. Was looking for a new restaurant to try by my job and decided to try out this spot. I ordered the beef ramen soup which I've had at other restaurants in the past. I ordered online and picked it up within a few minutes. The lady at the front desk was very cold. I gave her my name and told her I was there to pick up my order. She grabs the bag and practically throws it at me. I was a little taken aback but took my bag and said thank you.. to which she didn't respond. Now the food: The food was lukewarm but that's ok since I have a microwave in my office. No napkins, fork or chop sticks were included in the bag. The soup looked good but was extremely bland. No flavor at all. This ramen was terrible.. the broth was practically tasteless and the noodles stuck together like glue. A nasty attitude and nasty food just doesn't work for me. I DO NOT recommend. I won't be going back here. read more

Cute little place in the UES to stop by for some quick ramen. I tried the miso beef which had thinly sliced beef with a mix of corn, bamboo shoots, arugula, and a soft boiled egg. The broth was flavorful and spiced with some chili oil on top. Quick and nice service. Will return to try some other items on the menu! read more

** MEALPAL REVIEW ONLY ** SKIP IF YOU KNOW ABOUT MEALPAL: MealPal is an app where you pay upfront $91 for 10-12 meals (~$7/meal) which is cheap especially if you're in the city. Each store that offers MealPal makes one special each day, creates it in bulk, and serves that to MealPal customers. I really enjoyed Kuu in FiDi, so I was really excited to see that they opened up another location in the UES. The ambiance of this location is way better than the one in FiDi -- it's brighter and you don't have to hover over people as they're eating for their seat! Instead, at this location, they seat you when you dine in...though as I write this, at FiDi, I liked not having to pay service+ tip and just be able to eat and go--not in the UES, though! So...if you want to dine in solo, go to the one in FiDi, as solo diners are welcomed there with open arms, but be prepared to fight for a seat especially during lunch time. If you want to eat with someone else or a group, and have a lot of time on your hands (not a rushed lunch break) come to this location! As I ordered via MealPal, the food was already prepped in to-go containers. The noodles and goodies were in the main bowl, the broth in another. I mean, ramen is ramen, so I enjoyed it! TBH, I feel like Kuu is worth it through MealPal because paying $15-17 for a ramen bowl during lunch time is like, heartbreaking, lol. As someone mentioned, I, too wished they had lunch specials, but alas, lunch and dinner are the same price. My MealPal meal was the Okinawa Shio Chicken and while the chicken was meh (I mean, it should be pork belly or bust, really), the noodles and corn and egg made up for it. But I would say to skip out on this specific dish/protein when ordering -- everyone here seems to like the Kuu Chili, so I would go with that! Or a pork belly, duh. read more

we ordered: *tonkotsu shoyu $18 *miso veggie $17 *squid leg $9 *nori shoyu fries $7.50 *cucumber salad $6 *choya ume $3 (plum soda) *plum wine glass $4 *calpico $3 we really enjoyed the food. all the appetizers were so yumm, you can't go wrong with any. my vegetarian miso ramen was so flavorful, although a bit too salty for me but I still liked it. I loved the tofu that came with it! my friend enjoyed her tonkotsu shoyu too, soup was super flavorful but can be a bit heavy. Im a big fan of plum wine haha it's sweet!! Got their custom poke bowl with sushi rice as base and salmon x2 as protein. They let you choose 4 mix-ins and 4 toppings. I waited around 10min and got my order. The sushi rice was very well seasoned and the salmon was very fresh. The portion of the poke bowl was also perfect. I found the don and poke quite pricy--most of their don, ramen, and poke were around $16-17. While I think that price range is pretty normal for ramen, I think the don and poke was a little more expensive than usual? Will definitely come back again but probably won't eat here often because of the price! read more

I've been getting their donburis of late since I work around the hospital. The beef sukiyaki don was good! Thought it was a little pricey for ~$14 per bowl, and when you add up tax and tip it does really add up. I thought portion wise its tad bit on the smaller side, especially for guys. The bowl itself was quite tasty and flavorful. Thinly sliced beef was marinated incredibly well and pairs really well with each bite of rice. Love the picked vegetables gives it a nice tangy texture/taste to the overall experience. Also half-boiled egg is a nice treat as well. read more

Kuu is my favorite place to eat Ramen in NYC!!! I worked at MSKCC for 2 years and went for Ramen for lunch breaks. 2 years later I still will travel from Brooklyn to Kuu just for Ramen and a Pork Bun. Found Kuu on Yelp, searching for sushi. There were only a few sushi items, so I took the opportunity to try other tasty items. I had a pork belly bun as an appetizer. I was torn between sharing a bite or having it all to myself. I shared; too good not to. The server encouraged me to get a custom poke bowl, and accurately warned my companion about the heat of a poke bowl. The bowls were fresh tasting and super filling; a person with a normal appetite might make two meals out of one bowl. The drinks came from a rumbling cooler which didn't actually cool the drinks. I'm not going to ding the establishment for that; the choices more than made up for it, and our server quickly brought ice to chill our alcoholic drinks. Kuu has very good ramen soups. It's full of flavor with the right kind of noodle. it's also a quick spot to go if you're "on the go" or want to have lunch. It's even set up nicely where you can go on your own without the awkward "empty table" situation. The service is quick and friendly as well. Came here yesterday with some friends and it did not disappoint. We started off with the Kakuni buns (pork belly) as appetizers, which was pretty good. I ordered the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen (with some chili powder on the side). Nothing beats good ramen on a cold, gloomy day. The service was quick and staff was very friendly. It's a very small restaurant with limited seating, but don't let that stop you from enjoying a great meal. I saw a lot of people ordering takeout. The ramen here is pretty good. I really like the noodle texture and some of the soup base. I came here with some friends and we got a range of different ramen. My favorite was the Kuu Chili and the Wontonmen. The soup tasted amazing. The Okinawa Shio Ramen soup was really salty when I had it but apart from the soup, the noodles tasted fine. read more

The weather was brutal outside and I was craving something hot to warm my body. Upon searching, I came across this place and decided to go dine in. The space is small, but cozy and very clean. Nothing feels nicer than a bowl of warm ramen noddle on a cold winter day. While this place doesn't have the best ramen in the city, it is pretty good and I really appreciate them opening this place in the area! I ordered the beef ramen and that was savory, warm and hearty. I went here during a weekday afternoon for lunch. We got the curry (pork for me, beef pattie for my companion) and it was really really good and flavorful. Also, the portion was just right -- right amount of curry, rice and choice of protein where we weren't left hungry or overstuffed. For a slow and easy afternoon, this place got packed shortly after we got there (everyone got the ramen). I also got the combo and HIGHLY recommend. (We shared.) The gyoza was outstanding and fresh, and the yuzu house drink was so light and refreshing. Also the woman who served us was very nice and even made recommendations for ramen for our next visit. I had a really positive takeout experience through Uber East from this place. The salmon avocado hand roll was very substantial, larger than expected with both fresh Fish and avocado. The pork bun appetizer was also bigger than most other places like ippudo (an industry standard). The mayo/sweet dark sauce paired nicely with the rich meat and soft fluffy bun. Lastly I had the shoyu ramen that really hit the mark in every aspect. The broth was rich and has just the right amount of salt, the pork belly was roasted to perfection, and the bamboo and other accoutrements were all done perfectly. Noodles could have been a little harder, but they weren't overdone. It would be nice to choose firmness if noodles/richness of broth like other ramen focused restaurants, but this is merely a suggestion not a complaint. Really good, will order again. read more

The cutlet is crispy, and the curry broth is rich, flavorful, and delicious. The service is also great. The servers are always attentive, ready to answer questions, and quick to refill waters whenever they notice your glass getting low. Food comes out quickly as well. Overall, Kin Ramen is a spot I find myself coming back to again and again whenever I'm craving a good bowl of ramen.

The thin white noodles were great, and I appreciated the lighter, more delicate broth -- not overly salty like some other ramen spots. I was hoping for a bit more shishito (I only got one!), but overall it was comforting and well balanced. It's a very small space with a cozy vibe, which adds to the charm. Definitely a place I'd return to.

I thought the rice would be at least been fried? I asked for some soy sauce and spice just to add a bit more flavor to it. However, our service was great and I cannot say enough kind words to the staff. The rest of our company enjoyed their food. My partner ordered a ramen which he enjoyed and wished there was more ramen options available for being a ramen (advertised) restaurant. Overall it was a good experience to try!

As someone who's moved out of NYC years ago, I made an effort to visit Totto Ramen every time I come back and now Toribro has taken that spot in my itinerary.
