There are many varieties of food, Chinese food, sushi, salad/fruit bar, also you can pick whatever meats, seafood, vegetables and noodles and they cook in the hibachi style for you. Of course, there is a dessert station. Can't say they have the best food but it's decent and it's a very reasonable price, you can't beat that! I knew better & should have walked out when sanitizer was empty. I had my own so continued on. Save yourself the stomach turning experience. The hot items like pork ribs, breaded shrimp, crab rangoon were all cold. Had been sitting for a while cold. Chicken wings were mildly warm. Didn't get anything else, had already pushed my luck. After having cold food you start to notice no one washes hands, that no sanitizer deal makes you think more & more. The floors are sticky. Things start to spiral. I mentioned this to the guy at the counter while paying. He said "look steam is coming up" & in fairness it was, but the food was still cold. Dude didn't care & it wouldn't accomplish anything to argue. I went when they opened to ensure "fresher" & hot food. They must cook well in advance, let sit, & count on warmer to bring it up to temp eventually. I've attached time stamped receipt as proof I'm not a BS artist. Total time I was about 15 mins. Stopped here on Sunday for a late dinner with a friend. It was a little after 7pm and they were closing within an hour but you'd never know by the looks of the crowd that was there. The place was packed, nearly every table was full and they were still turning out hot food and refreshing our beverages. It's about $18 a person which honestly I didn't think was too bad. The service was exceptional, they took our dirty plates from the buffett everytime we got up to go for another round. They also asked us each time our drinks were getting low if we wanted a refill. All of the food was hot, not lukewarm or cold, it was hot! That is always important at a buffett style restuarant. There was alot of Seafood that was offered which I'm always skeptical of at buffetts but it was absolutely delicious! The place could use some deep cleaning, as it looks somewhat dated. The floors looked pretty trafficked from the day's events but that's something I'm sure they save for closing. I don't want to say I overlooked some of the cleanliness aspects of the establishment but it's probably what you would expect from a strip mall/ shopping center buffett that's heavily frequented by the community. I hate doing this. I hate it. I've had some good times at Kwando. But the most recent time I was there? I saw red slime mold dripping down out of all of the air vents. Not only was it dripping out of the vents - It was ACTUALLY DRIPPING on the floor RIGHT OVER THE BUFFET ENTRANCE WALK AREA. Good gods. Buffet? Five stars? Is that even a possibility? It is here at Kwando. Kwando was always a treat for me during my college years. My friends and I would dine here on occasion for not only the selection, but the quality of food and the service. This place has sushi - and these aren't your standard gas station-grade rolls, either. The sushi is part of the buffet and is prepared on the spot so you know it's fresh. The food selection is very abundant and there really is a little something for every palette. The stations are clean and are tidied up regularly by the many friendly staff members. I've never encountered an old or sad looking display. Every item I've had has been delicious. This buffet is very large and offers many places to sit. We would take advantage of their round tables with comfortable chairs. The restaurant has been in Chico for at least a few decades and is in a popular shopping center with awesome parking. It's easy to access from the 99 or from downtown. Buffets aren't always my top choice of restaurant but Kwando has successfully defied my doubts. I would certainly come back and dine here again. read more

The food is good and I have no complaints about it or the service. However, the restaurant has a sign saying that masks are required yet many people had none on. I saw at least two people coughing near the food islands. I spoke to the server as I was posting the bill and said it was very disconcerting. She did not reply. So I again said it was very disconcerting that people were not wearing masks (as is required in CA right now) and she ignored me a second time. I'm very sorry to say this, but if they are unwilling to follow basic public health precepts during a pandemic, I'm done with them. read more

One of my favorite places in town. Affordable, great variety, and the service is typical for a buffet I.e. they fill your drinks, bring your check but otherwise leave you alone and do their jobs. I went for lunch and they simply took out the cold left over food from the previous night and made no effort to warm it up. Really, really sad. And I paid $16 just for lunch! Take it from an Asian. This place is absolute garbage. All the food that is fried is soggy and the buns/dumplings are bleeding juices because they are sitting around. All the fish for their sushi is frozen and when I was eating it I can feel the crunching. The lunch price is the only good thing about this place but everything else is pretty bad. When I first saw the hibachi grill I was impressed but when I saw the ingredients I was straight annoyed; I still got it just to try it and as I expected it was pretty bad. I have eaten here a number of times and have been marginally ok with it (less than fresh seafood and sushi, over priced, indifferent staff)until this time. I know what to avoid and not to have high expectations but moldy food is unacceptable along with the staff and the manager's handling of it. My friend got a few lotus cups off the buffet. He loves them and tried to share them with his grandson. I wanted to show him they were good and as I took a bite a pungent taste filled my mouth. It was not right, I flipped over and it was covered with mold. Disgusting! As I was cleaning my mouth I was presented with a 55.00 bill. I asked for the manager to show him what was on his buffet . He said it was burn marks. I insisted it was not. He refused to acknowledge it. I took pictures and was only able to get one meal comped. I will Never eat them again. Check your food folks read more

It's a strip mall Chinese/Japanese buffet in, well, not the middle of nowhere, but clearly nowhere big. Have modest expectations and you won't be disappointed. Best part is the cook to order bar. I was so excited when my husband told me that Kwando Buffet was recently opened. It has been closed because of Pandemic. We love that buffet. Food is delicious, grill is heavenly. It's tricky to rate buffets, and when you do, I feel you really need to consider the value aspect of the meal. In many ways, I feel Kwando is your average Asian buffet place with a Mongolian bbq station, sushi, pre-made stir-fry, etc. To me, the standout cuisine element is the Mongolian BBQ section. What makes it good are 2 things: 1) the meat is not the frozen rolls of thin-sliced meat that you see at other places - it's real hunks of meat and includes premium items like fish fillets, fresh shrimp, and squid, and 2) the final product is not drenched in sauce like other places - it's a drier style of cooking, and to me produces a more balanced and flavorful dish. Their stir fry station is better than most standalone Mongolian BBQ restaurants. And for AYCE sushi, the variety is good, and the nigiri and rolls are tasty, made with the more-authentic pearl rice, not long grain rice like so many buffets use. The fish they used was reasonable quality - no funny odors and no stringiness or membranes that are indicative of low-grade fish. It's not going to compare to a Japanese restaurant, but it's an inexpensive way to take care of a sushi fix. They have the requisite pre-made stir-fry dishes, which were unremarkable. Also deep-fried items, which I just avoid for health reasons, popular though they may be. The soups were average - nothing to write home about, Value-wise, I consider it to be good. Service was very good, with friendly people. No issues with parking. Probably good for a return trip next time I'm in the area. read more

The super round hostess woman was not polite and spoke maybe 2 words to us when we entered, when we were sat and when we left. One of the employees, the guy with the glasses who was bussing tables, was sitting down with his head down WHILE working, and was just not acting appropriately for being on the clock. He didn't make any eye contact or even say a single word to us when he came by to clean our table. Me and my partner also saw him using one of the non reusable chopsticks to ITCH HIS BACK AND THEN PUT IT BACK INTO THE CHOPSTICK HOLDER. That was completely unsanitary. He just seemed so uncaring and unprofessional and dirty. Not a single employee had a single smile on their faces and weren't friendly at all whats so ever. Made us feel unwelcome and made us feel like they didn't want us there, especially after me and my partner held hands across the table and then shortly after the busser came by to hand us our check without a word to say and saw that we clearly weren't done eating - we are both gay males so go figure. There was just a few things that were actually decent but what did we expect from a cheap buffet. Overall experience was terrible. 0/10 if I could rate it a 0. Would not recommend going there. Kwandos is one of those places that has always been pretty good to us. Except today.. We found 25+ dirty plates in the stacks at the buffet line. A snotty nosed server who openly rubbed his dripping nose while filling out water cups. A manager who gave us dirty looks as we reported the filthy plates and proceeded to argue that we should pay for a meal we did not eat and denied tge dirty plates. We walked w him to the plate stacks and began showing him plate after plate of dried and wet old food in the clean stacks. read more

This is my favorite chinese buffet out of any buffet that i ever went. Price is cheap, (i said is hella cheap $9 u got whole bunch of variety of food). Food is awesomely taste good. So many kind of asian dishes on bar, dimsum, soup, many kind of sushi, hibachi and dessert bar (cookies and ice cream), not stop there they have fruit bar and salad bar. Easily the grossest, most unkept place I've been to in a long time. Food is not good. Bland flavors and lots of grease, fish didn't seem fresh either. Smells like fish as soon as you walk inside. Restaurant is filthy... lots if dirty floors, counters, and messy empty tables. Service was mediocre at best. No smiling, no eye contact, nothing but sad faces on every employee here.
