This place is completely unethical. At the last oil change, they pulled out my cabin air filter without asking and then told me it needed to be replaced. I asked them to please just put it back, to which they replied "well, it will probably tear if we put the old one back in"... well, if you had asked before you started tearing my car apart, we wouldn't have this problem. I also had them tell me I had a brake light not functioning during an inspection, even though I had checked them myself before taking the car to them. Amazingly, they wanted me to pay to put a new light in. Funny how when I checked it myself, it was just a loose bulb. Stay far, far away from this place. Went in to get an oil change. When checking out the price was higher than usual and they refused to take THEIR coupon!! Told me they're a different company now and not taking Kwik Kar coupons. Meanwhile the name on the building and the shirts they are wearing say KWIK KAR! As far as I'm concerned that is false advertising! I told him he should honor the coupon as that's what a customer driven company would do, he flat out said NO. In most cases if the business is 1-star you typically would just go about your day understanding that it could hurt someone's or multiple peoples livelihoods. However, I have been to this location for a belt change and an oil change both times they've gotten it wrong, THEY PUT THE WRONG OIL IN 5W30 vs 5w20) AND SAID THAT IT WOULD BE OKAY! Then with the belt, they ordered multiple wrong size belts which took more time and then I was late for work so had (had no car) so had to walk back to work (2.3 miles) again with no apology or refund. These guys are dishonest! Do not go to this place for an inspection (or anything else I assume). I am a woman and they saw me coming a mile away. Failed me bc of "fluid level and belt has large cracks" and quoted me almost $300 for repairs in order to pass. ($90 for power steering service and & $180 for a belt). I had an intuition something was not right and took my car to a reputable mechanic. He immediately checked it for me and told me there were a few tiny cracks in my belt but it should have never been a reason to fail, especially with no squeaking or issues, but if I did want to replace it, it would be $80 (not $180). He also topped off my power steering fluid with about an 8th of a bottle and that put it at a perfect level...for free. He was adamant that I was being taken advantage of. So I returned to Kwik kar and told them what I had learned. Nicholas Bjelland who had done my inspection got extremely defensive and angry and stormed off in the middle of me telling him what I had learned. He said if I had a problem with it I should contact DPS. Ahmad was more polite but equally unhelpful. I then went to another inspection place and passed immediately. I even had the guy look specifically at my belt in front of me and he said "there's a microscopic crack that you need a magnifying glass to see. They should have never failed you for that, they were trying to make money off a quick belt job thinking you wouldn't know any better" So I'm leaving a review because I hope no one else has this experience. I've brought my car here three times now, and I must say that the service has been amazing every time. Being a woman at a mechanic shop is already intimidating BUT not once have I felt that they were just trying to get money out of me. The techs take the time to explain what you car needs and why. The why part is important to me because I like to ask a lot of questions in general about things, so for them to take the initiative to explain and not seem annoyed is awesome. I was helped by Josh and Robert and another gentleman that I did not get the name from but all three were friendly, professional and just awesome. Definitely only comfortable with bringing my car here for oil changes or repairs because of the level of customer service given. Keep up the great job guys! The people seemed nice enough and the location was clean inside and around the building but I went in for an oil change and will not return to this location for a few reasons. 1 - When I left, my car was making a rumbling sound that it was not making when I pulled in. 2 - I was told I would also need an oil flush because the oil was too dirty and just changing it would be of no use. I went with it, I'm no mechanic so I trusted them to know better than me and found out later this flush was not needed. 3 - They did not check all the fluids as they said they did. My windshield reservoir was and is still empty. That sounds like something small to gripe about, I know, but it leaves me wondering what else went unchecked. After I left, I called a mechanic friend to ask why my car would be making this rumbling sound right after an oil change and explained how I was told I "needed" this oil flush, too. This mechanic said I did not need an oil flush and it's a waste of money. After some online research, I found this advice to be accurate - oil flushes are generally unnecessary unless you've gotten something else in it, and can actually do damage to your vehicle. I am not sure that the flush itself caused my car to now sound different, but I know that it did not sound like that when I arrived. I will not take the car back to them to even check that out because I was sold a service I did not need and the service I did ask for was not fully completed. read more

UPDATE: Another Kwik Kar facility is having to complete to repairs. I have in two days received 20 phone calls, 15 voicemails and 6 text messages from this shop - a few of those calls and voicemails from a personal cell phone - which is intimidation and harrassment. Because of this tactic I refuse to step foot on that property again. However, they will not honor the warranty even though I paid them 700 for a part that they didn't even order or replace, and may be harrassing me via the phone in order to create the situation in which I am currently facing. I have had to file cases with Consumer Affairs, Atty General Ken Paxton, BBB and have contacted Dallas 5 Consumer Advocate regarding the bogus repair and harrassment. I have saved the voicemails and call log and will next be filing with small claims court. I also am in contact with Kwik Kar Board of Directors and will be speaking with the owner of this location too. All the shop had to do was replace the part I paid 700 dollars for. I'm not looking for anything free - just what I paid for to get my car back to whole. If they still won't honor the warranty after the intimidation tactics and game playing this will unfortunately see the inside of a courtroom. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I initially had five stars and a stellar review written up for these guys. I had some repairs that had some bumpy parts to the experience but at the time I thought they did a good job. However, I had to take the car back to get inspected. The guys weren't that nice and actually seem annoyed that I brought up two issues I am having with the car that were not there before they completed the repairs. Both issues still aren't fixed and now I have to find another mechanic to fix it since this shop can't be bothered to: even though the parts are under warranty. Not cool. My car makes a loud squeal when starting the car and until it warms up now. IT NEVER DID THIS PRIOR TO THE WORK THAT WAS DONE HERE. After doing a few minor tests I have narrowed this down to the power steering, which was replaced. They ignored me about this and all they did was spray some WD40 which did not resolve anything. We dropped our car off around 11:45 am in which we knew it would take a little bit, they got our phone number & said they would call when it's ready, which is what we expected. 3 hours later & no phone call, we called & was told "oh yeah, it's been ready for awhile. we told you 30 minutes." They most certainly didn't! He did apologize & said "they have been too busy to call." They are quick but they will over charge you for something so simple. A normal oil change was $70 and all they did was add some which took about 10 mins. I've been to other places that charge $30. They went ahead and told me that I needed a transmission fluid change as well as brake fluid, and they told me that instead of charging $129 they'll do it for $89; so all in all I paid around $170. Here at the facts, you draw your own conclusion: On 4/7/18 I went to Kwik Car to get a regular oil change with 10W30 oil. The store employee told me they didn't sell regular 10W30, only the high-milage version and it costs $10 more. That seemed unusual so I asked again, but he insisted they didn't sell the regular oil. I was already there so I agreed to the high-milage. I went into the garage to watch them work and the employee told the manager to take me back inside because it was cold. I thought that was odd and I stayed at the car. I watched the employee poor a 5 gal container of Castrol GTX 10W30 into the car. The car requires 6 quarts so he added oil from the overhead dispenser that read "high-milage". I asked why the 5 gal container was regular oil and he said it is better than high-milage, "trust me", and the manager on duty heard that. When I checked out with the Manager, I questioned "trust me"?, really? and he gave me $5 off because the employee said it. At home, I looked up Castrol GTX on the web and found Castrol has a regular and high-milage version of GTX oil. It is regular 10W30 that the employee put into my car. I went back the next day and the store manager was there (different guy from the day before). I explained the situation and he said they sell regular 10W30. He could not explain why I was told they don't have regular 10W30, or anything else about the behavior I experience, just he would bring it to the owner's attention. He refunded me the difference between the high-milage and the regular oil change. My rules I follow: - Assume they think I am a sucker and will behave so - Watch them perform the work - Be alarmed whenever they explain something as "trust me" read more

So they open at 8am, I called ahead of time to make sure they weren't busy so I could get my alignment fixed this morning because they were too busy with one car all of yesterday. I come in at 8:30am and they're working on the same exact car from yesterday and told me I should just drop my keys off because it would take only a few hours to get to my car. After calling at 12:30pm, they said they would have the car ahead of me finished in an hour and start on mine. I call again at 4:30pm and they still haven't started on my car, even though I was the second car to come into the shop for an alignment this morning. Alignments are not supposed to take the whole day and you shouldn't be catering to just one customer for two whole days. Hire more people or use your time correctly. read more

First time here and I had a great experience! Normally, I try to take my Dad, brother or best guy friend with me to take care of car stuff because they know more about cars than I do! None of them were able to go with me today and I had to get my oil change! At first they asked me a few basic questions about my car, how much I drive and so on to figure out what kind of oil they should suggest. From my responses, being a female, and little... you would look at me as a perfect target to take advantage of! However, I did not feel that way at all! My daughter was back home for the holidays from school and needed her car inspected. So I took it to this Kwik Kar since it's so close to home. They did not pass the car and their explanation made no sense. I asked them to repeat the reason for clarification, as I did not want there to be a miscommunication. It still made no sense as the reason for failure, as it worked just fine. The next morning I took it to the dealer and it passed with no problem. Just as I suspected -- they didn't add oil after draining the engine. I can't afford to replace an engine for a $68 oil change and inspection. Won't be back. Worst service possible and unethical. Told me the wrong part was broken on my AC and charged over $900 for labor and part. When the AC continued to fail they told me it was something else and would have to charge full price. Turns out the original part was never broken. Manager is terrible and refused to help and the general manager wouldn't even return my call. Worst service possible so please never use this shop. read more

I am so irritated after having my oil changed here. First of all there is no air conditioning in the waiting area so I was literally sweating the whole time. They had already started working on my car or I would have left after a couple of minutes sitting there. They told me I need two things fixed that do not actually need to be fixed and they charged me $84 for the whole thing. The kwik kar I usually go to is at inwood and forest and it is $68. When I asked them about the discrepancy they told I had a special funnel. I have had this car for 5 years and no one has ever charged me for a "special funnel" or a "shop fee." When I asked for him to go over what he did for my oil change to see if they hit all the spots they were suppose to... tires, windshield wiper fluid, etc. the way he showed me that I had the wiper fluid was to go INSIDE my car and show me I had some.
