LOVE the vibe of this place!! Also found my new favorite cocktail here - the Snowbird! We tried quite a few dishes but our favorite was hands down the Korean fried chicken and the Wagyu toast - sooo good!! Pair that with the chicory salad and the pineapple milk bread for dessert! This place has been getting a lot of attention and I see why. The vibe is clubby and that makes sense because this restaurant originated in Miami where its original location still stands. You should probably get the tuna crispy rice, roasted cauliflower and the coconut cake. If you come here for restaurant week like I did, you can get everything except for the crispy rice which you'll have to order à la carte. Also note that either the entire table does restaurant week or no one does - however, you can still continue to order things à la carte. **Tuna crispy rice - a crispy block of rice with a very mashed texture inside that is reminiscent of mashed potatoes with a dollop of spicy tuna on top that is tasty but to me : good, maybe great. ***Pink puppy cocktail is actually quite delicious and sweet and reminiscent of pink starburst. ***Hamachi was excellent, and the underlying herbs and dill add another layer of flavor that was one of the highlights of the meal. Korean fried chicken will fill you up and has giant portions. Have fun eating this with a knife and fork. ***Roasted cauliflower is delicious with the green sauce and goat cheese that comes with it, the recommendation is to mash and mix it up with the sauce. It's good but for the price it is not that worth. Very nice ambiance though. My favorite was the beef short ribs. Super tender, falls off the bone. Generous portion. And loved the sauces. The group favorite was the pork belly pastrami. I was disappointed with the branzino, which was not as tender as I'd expect a $74 fish to be. The food: We ordered the Filet Mignon, Fried chicken, and broccoli. Everything was delicious. The filet cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The kimchi had some kick to it but also very tasty. The chicken was not exactly what I expected for korean fried chicken but it was also very delicious. It had good flavor and was tender and juicy. Some other reviewers said it was bland which I did not agree with at all even if you're eating it without the sauce. For dessert of course we ordered the cinnamon roll. It could have been softer, but it was a great dessert, sweet but not overly sweet like cinnabun or something like that. The only complaint was the drinks. 2 of the most popular drinks on the menu were unavailable. One was their moscow mule which is so simple that I wonder why it was unavailable on a quiet sunday evening. I ended up ordering the Roshi's island seasonal drink, it's basically a coconut flavored mojito but it was a big disappointment. The food is made to order so comes out as it is ready and some things come with a presentation like the spraying of fish oil on the kale and the fried rice mixing! The drinks were tasty, the pink puppy was a table favorite! The ribss?? Meat literally fell off the bone. 10/10 flavor and we loved the hefty portion size! If you're starved and dining on a Sunday or Monday, consider their "Din Din" special which is $60 a person and each person gets two dishes and a rice for the table! Ambiance is amazing here and lots of seating. On lafayette so great area in general for manhattan dining and shopping. Not pictured but crispy rice was good but felt it could be a bit less heavy on the rice for the ratio to be fish heavy. This place is definitely underrated. First service was beyond attentive from the minute we walked in. Did not have to be seated, great booth seat with a whole view of the restaurant. Our server was amazing from beginning to end with a complimentary corn ribs for our tables which was not appealing at first but was delicious that we cleaned the the place. The place was a vibe with great music selection but also you didn't have scream at each other, the drinks were tasty as we started with the elderflower and then shared the zodiac killer to share. All our meals were delicious and good portions to share with the table. The only one that tasted basic was the steak and eggs, I would definitely miss out on that next time. Cute little brunch place in Soho! We were able to just walk in and got seated immediately. We got the pancake, fried chicken, and a lychee pitcher. The fried chicken was crispy and the sauce was flavorful. It was a bit spicy for me but still manageable without being painful to eat. The pancake was a good choice as it was sweet and fluffy. Not too sweet so good; definitely another recommend item on the menu. -Short Rib Hash: This one was okay - the meat was super tender and the flavors were really good; but honestly I'm not a fan of peppers and that is pretty much this dish; so I would pass on this next time. -Thai Tea Shaved Ice: This was so big and fluffy and so tasty; it's not a regular shaved ice and honestly they put so much into this dessert but at this point we were so full we could not finish this at all. After spending the day shopping, my friend and I decided to pop in for some drinks and a snack at the bar because we had been wanting to check this place out for quite some time. Everything i got here was AMAZING! From the vibes (high ceilings, mood lighting, open kitchen) to the food/drink, it was an A+. For drinks, I had the Pink Puppy which was so good and the Japenese mule, which came in a cool pineapple glass but wasn't that exciting. I went with 3 others and we split all the items below: - Tuna crispy rice: best I've had in the city. Beats Nobu by a mile and rivals Lure Fishbar. - Cauliflower: my least favorite dish but still amazing. Great green sauce but cauliflower could have been a bit crispier. - Stone pot: YUM, perfectly crisp and love how they stir it then serve it to you at the table. - Short ribs: the most tender, fall off the bone meat. Came with flakes of sea salt, pepper, & 3 sauces. - Coconut cake: usually I'm not a coconut fan but I liked this. So that says something. Every item was brought out one at a time so we were there for 2.5 hours. Excellent drinks and service from start to finish! Upon checking in, I was the first of my party to arrive but was given the option to either sit at the bar or at the table if it was available. I went to my table and was taken care of by Nolan who provided the fastest service ever (I swear I ordered my first drink and it arrived less than 2mins later!) and he recommended great drinks when my friend arrived. Although we didn't have any food here since we had dinner reservations elsewhere, the menu looked fantastic (especially the appetizers) with many Asian-fusion options. Additionally, our server was understanding of us just having drinks then leaving and he closed our tab before he got us our final round of drinks so we could just head out when we were finished. This popular Miami restaurant recently opened up a branch in NYC and became the talk of town. Is it worth the hype? Overall, I think so, although there are some kinks that still need to be worked out. Food is Asian fusion and overall quite good. There were no real misses with the variety of dishes I tried which include the Grilled Octopus, Korean Fried Chicken, Beef Tenderloin, and Baby Back Ribs. My favorite of these was probably the beef tenderloin... perfectly cooked and served with buttery kimchi which made a delightful combination. The baby back ribs were probably my least favorite. Just a bit too sweet for my tastes although technically cooked well. I will say that everything on the menu is probably $5-$10 too expensive. Between my friend and I, the two of us ordered every single cocktail on the menu. We generally liked all of them. Interesting flavor combinations and nicely presented. Service was friendly and did not feel rushed at all even though the restaurant was packed. However, the server did not seem to be familiar with the entire menu yet and it sometimes showed. Classy, fresh and delicious-I loved KYU! First and foremost, this place is beautiful and the aesthetics are well thought through. The service was wonderful: we loved our waitress, who made sure we were well taken care of and even was kind enough to switch out my first drink (which was too strong) for something I loved-I definitely recommend the Sakura Season if you like something light, refreshing and floral! I definitely recommend coming on a Sunday and getting the Din Din special (2 dishes each and a fried rice for the table for $60), mostly because that Thai Fried Rice alone is something to talk about (my mom doesn't like rice but was obsessed!). For my meal I chose the Udon Noodles, which were way better than I expected-loved the flavor and the addition of kimchi on top. My mom and dad loved their baby back ribs and branzino, and another star of the show was the Edamame Crispy Rice-WOW!! These had a ton of flavor and an amazing texture. We also enjoyed the infamous Japanese Sweet Potato with miso butter, although it was a bit salty. The only thing we sadly did not enjoy were the Brussels Sprouts-they seemed to be boiled rather than fried and crispy, and were a bit tough and undercooked-such a bummer, since Brussels sprouts are my favorite! This place is not cheap, and I do think the prices could be a tad more reasonable, but it definitely makes for a wonderful meal for a special occasion! read more

The scones were immaculate, flaky and buttery. Definitely get them. For the entree I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. The eggs were perfectly poached and the salmon was pretty fresh. Bone marrow was average (add the salt they give you) and the Tuna over crispy rice was a little dense and chewy once you bite through the outer crust. We definitely capitalized on the trifecta of deals. Pricing for the regularly priced items was very expensive. We shared a bottle of Nigori (raw sake). It was half off for the bottle, so I anticipated ot would have priced out similarly if we had at least three cocktails. I was very happy with the sake. They had a lot of nice bottles, but again pricing was up there. Food wise, we had all three of their crispy rice dishes. It seemed that the tuna was the favorite at our table, but I thought all three were on par. Next, we shared the Korean fried chicken and the duck breast. Both were fantastic! Chicken was fried and seasoned perfectly. It came with a sauce which I found very similar to Frank's Red Hot sauce for better or for worse. Duck breast was cooked perfectly too and came with a delicious sweet sauce. Service was very attentive. Staff was extremely friendly and well spoken. We came to Kyu for Sunday brunch during restaurant week ($45/pp) because we were curious to try the Asian fusion food offered. We ordered the Everything Scones and Corn Ribs for appetizers; Korean Fried Chicken and Japanese Skillet Pancakes for the entrée; and the Cinnamon Roll and Ice Cream Trio for dessert. Everything Scones - Came with 8 small scones and a side of chive-miso butter and yuzu citrus jam to spread. The scones were a little salty and dry, but texture was flaky. I enjoyed the butter and jam but did not think it worked well with the scone. [3/5] Corn Ribs - Came with 8 pieces and half a lime on the side. Was creamy, with blackened miso powder (which was very flavorful). The citrus of the lime complemented the flavor even more. For once I wouldn't mind choosing this dish over some nice ribs. [5/5] Korean Fried Chicken - Included 4 meaty pieces of lightly crisped friend chicken, on top of braised spinach and sauce that tasted like smoky buffalo. This was my least favorite dish because it was all white meat, I did not enjoy the flavor, the chicken was a little dry, and it did not remind me of Korean fried chicken at all. The lime only helped it a little. [2/5] Japanese Skillet Pancakes - Fluffy, warm, and melts in your mouth with the matcha cream. [5/5] Cinnamon Roll - Soft and warm, with nice chai frosting [4/5] Ice Cream Trio - Included a scope of chocolate, coconut, and blueberry-lemon. Chocolate tasted like dark chocolate fudge. Coconut tasted like coconut flakes and what's interesting is the flavor does not come out at first. You slowly taste it as it melts in your mouth. The blueberry-lemon tasted like real blueberries and lemonade. The plant based, gluten free ice-cream did not disappoint. All delicious! [5/5] Our waiter was nice and came back a few times after confirming certain things about our order. The restaurant was spacious with high ceilings. There were 3 choices for seating: lounge, main dining, and patio. It also had 3 unisex bathrooms that were very clean. The utensils are in a box on the table which is convenient, but you might want to wipe them off before using just in case because I did notice the party next to us play with a few utensils before putting them back in the box. My favorites were the kale seaweed, salmon crudo and the fried chicken! I'd skip on the udon because it was a bit too salty. The service was good in the beginning until we were waiting so long for the fried chicken (which they probably forgot) and then our server became a bit less attentive.
