This is a well-deserved review update. I have revisited Kz Mori (West Covina) over six times. It's not fine dining; rather, it's a guilty local pleasure. The food is hot, large, and satisfying. Today, I had a good experience at Kz Mori (West Covina). I ordered the Mix Katsu Combo ($19.99). It's pork katsu, chicken katsu, curry sauce, fresh & clean rice, salad, and miso soup. It's a lot of food. I arrived on Wednesday (around 8:10PM). Parking is easy on a late evening. Although the lot is typically competitive, there were not too many cars in this large lot this night. Customers can order at the self-service kiosk or the counter. Staff is friendly and pleasant. Staff hands an electronic pager which lights up when your food is ready. My meal took seven minutes and 32 seconds. As mentioned, I ordered the Mix Katsu Combo ($19.99). Quality is usually consistent, but it was a little burnt and dry this evening. Still, it tasted satisfying when slathered with its well-seasoned curry. Personally, I found a lot of enjoyment with the fresh steamed white rice. Still, it's a guilty pleasure that serves huge portions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Regarding ambiance, Kz Mori (West Covina) is located in the popular Haven City Market. There's plenty of indoor tables, and there's still many customers despite the late hours[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I especially appreciated the flat screen TVs showing the basketball game.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, Kz Mori (West Covina) is a decent option when craving some crispy katsu and clean steamed rice. This place is located inside Haven City Market with a lot of other food, dessert, and snack places. I was craving katsu so I decided to try Kz Mori out. Their tofu katsu caught my eye, as I rarely see plant based options for katsu! I ended up ordering the pork cutlet for myself. They give you a buzzer so you can walk around while you wait for your food. I didn't have to wait too long while browsing the other stalls and supermarket. I was surprised how large the portion size is, but I think it was perfect for the price. The cutlet was thin and evenly cooked. I've had much better katsu, this one felt a little dry, lacked rich flavor, and the breading was sparse and not crunchy at all. However, it was a very filling meal, and I definitely had leftovers. To be honest, I loved the sides more than the cutlet. The rice was fluffy and the cabbage salad was refreshing. I also got a simple miso soup.
I was craving something similar to what you'd find at L&L .. located in the Haven City food court, this restaurant caught my eye. Growing up in Hawaii, I love a good chicken katsu plate. I was pleasantly surprised at their generous portion sizes (especially in this economy)! I had enough food for two meals. The katsu was very crispy. Even my boyfriend enjoyed it. He also liked the shredded cabbage and dipping sauces. I wish that the chicken was a little more tender. But for the price point, service, and portion sizes I can't complain. I noticed they had combos as well. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other offerings!

We were totally undecided on dinner, but randomly picking katsu turned out to be a fantastic call! The meal was super quick--only about 10 minutes--and everything tasted incredibly fresh. We went with the Chicken Katsu with Curry, which seems to be a popular choice, and it was amazing. I loved every single bite! Even better? The portions are huge! It easily fed both of us with some satisfying leftovers to spare. If you're looking for a quick, fresh, and filling meal, this is definitely the move.

My friends ordered the Side Cheese Katsu (surprising for me, since I'm lactose intolerant) to share. They had a nice crispy coating and came out hot and fresh. The cheese flavor itself was a little lighter than I expected. Definitely tasted better with the sauce than without it. Overall, it was a decent dish, around a 7/10 for me. The portion was fair, and the presentation was clean. I'd be open to trying one of their other katsu options next time to see how they compare.
KZ Mori is located in this trendy food court we happened across called Haven City Market (located closer to the GW supermarket). Even though we got our order to-go, the packaging was convenient to save leftovers...which there definitely were a lot of. There wasn't a line, so we were served pretty quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We found seating easily in the dining area near the entrance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pork Katsu Curry ($18.99): The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. It came with a rich, savory curry sauce, a big scoop of fluffy white rice, and a fresh bed of shredded cabbage with sesame dressing on the side. Curry Udon ($13.99): It used the same curry base paired with chewy udon noodles. It was topped with corn, onions, and crunchy tenkasu bits that gave each bite a nice texture contrast. Cheese Katsu ($5.99): Basically an upgraded mozzarella stick. Golden, melty, and indulgent in the best way. It was a little pricy as we were only given 2 short pieces.
I enjoy their katsu- Crunchy, tender pork and chicken, and flaky fish. It's light and not overly seasoned. The mix combo comes with soup and a tub of curry. Not much of a Japanese curry lover, so I usually dip in soy and hot sauce mix. I also had their udon. It was good. Not something I would be overly excited about. The portions are huge. Cashiers have always been patient and helpful. It's one of the many food stalls/kiosks inside the Haven City Market, where you walk up to order the pick-up the food when the buzzer goes off. For dine-in in the cafeteria style tables and benches or for take-out.
We came here with a group of friends after a car show at the Fairplex. We knew we wanted some great food and one of our friends mentioned this place. So we had to try it. We ordered the chicken katsu meal and my oh my, was that meal HUGE. They give you so much food that I had leftovers for two days. The chicken was so tender and the katsu was perfect. not too hard and crunchy enough to enjoy. The meal comes with a huge side of white rice, a salad, and miso soup. Everything was delicious and you can easily share the food amongst two people (notated for next time). Menu is simple and too the point, there are different types of Katsu (Pork, Chicken, fish, tofu, and cheese) as well as Udon and a few appetizers. When ordering, the service was quick and the server was nice. I feel like I've been accustomed to feeling like spots in these social food courts are more hype than actual quality and many times overpriced for what you get. This spot really showed me otherwise. Everything about this meal was good. The soup wasn't too salty, the rice was cooked well, the salad was fresh, and the sauces really added to the meal. All in all, highly recommend giving this spot a try next time you're at the Haven City Market!

We couldn't finish everything even when 2 adults were eating this combo meal. The curry tasted so good and thick, not too watery. And I was surprised that their portion was really huge. I had to take home some of the Fish Katsu. Prices of their food was averaging ~$20 (with tax). Service was outstanding. My meal at Kz Mori was unexpectedly so good. I ordered the curry chicken plate ($17.99). The curry chicken plate is really dialed in. You get soup, a cabbage slaw salad complete with a creamy sesame dressing, rice, and an insane amount of chicken katsu. They also give you a vat of curry on the side, as well as katsu sauce. The katsu has the perfect amount of breading and the chicken is surprisingly very moist. I really enjoyed their curry which, unlike other places, didn't taste like the standard boxed curry. For under $20, I had a really tasty snd enjoyable meal. I will definitely come back to try other things on their menu. Highly recommend - great food at even better prices. read more
My brother ordered the mix pork chicken katsu, Oh my goodness was the portion huge! Honestly this can feed 2 people, highly suggest not tackling this alone. We order from 5 different places this one hit 2nd not the fastest but it still tasted better than the first. The food was ready pretty fast. The curry on the side is the way to go controlling how much goes on without letting the breading go soggy. I'll definitely come back. read more

Stall inside food court, no line, fast service, good food, price was good, especially since for the combos! Got the udon bc chicken katsu combo. Was delicious and had plenty of my favorite ingredient, fish cake! Plus, good soup! The chicken katsu was okay, standard and it was what I expected. read more

人生太長，什麼都可能會變，一輩子太短，有時候一件事可能也做不完， 在我看來， 人生就像一本書， 翻開是故事， 合上了則是回憶，就看你想怎麼編寫這本書～ Haven裡面真的是五花八門，也太多店家了， 當晚，我選了一家吃咖喱的店家，叫了份炸雞排，是我這輩子吃過最大份的一份炸雞排了， 雞排真的比我的臉要大，因為我的臉不是普通的大，所以我這樣形容，這就就是難得的真材實料了啦！ 口感方面，大概80-85分， 任何人是都不可能吃完這個大便當的，只吃了兩三片， 80% 是帶回家的，朋友吃了旁邊餐廳的鹹酥雞，實在太鹹，味道太重就不推薦了， 裡面有好多店家， 我覺得大家可以抽空過來看看，一定有你喜歡吃的東西！ read more

Decided to meet my friends for dinner on a Friday night at Haven City Food Hall. We were walking around the many food options and decided to land on this place since we were craving curry. There is a self-order kiosk and I ended up getting the chicken katsu. The staff hand you a device and it'll buzz once your food is ready. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating inside as it's shared with other vendors but it can get busy on weekends/weekday nights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took roughly 15 minutes to get our food. And wow, this plate was SOO worth it for your buck. This dish was total ~$20 after tips and the amount of katsu they give you is crazy. My friends and I were like "we should have just shared." I was unable to finish it and ended up saving the rest for leftovers. It comes with a generous amount of salad with peanut dressing as well as white rice. I was sooo full after eating this and the katsu sauce was extremely delicious too. The katsu was fried well and no bad parts to the chicken. Overall, I would come here again if I'm in this food mart, very worth it! read more

Came to KZ Mori Japanese Food on a Sunday after church with friends, and we had a fantastic experience! The staff was incredibly helpful, patient, and courteous, making us feel right at home. We tried Curry Chicken Katsu, which came with white rice, thinly shredded cabbage, and both curry and teriyaki dipping sauces. The chicken was perfectly crispy, and the curry sauce was outstanding--definitely the highlight! Both sauces were great for dipping, and we're already planning to order this again on our next visit. Looking forward to trying more items from the menu too. The seating in Haven City is plentiful, so we had no trouble finding a spot. Parking was a bit challenging since we arrived around 1 p.m. on a Sunday, but it was worth it. Highly recommend KZ Mori if you're craving delicious Japanese food with great service! Kz Mori is located at the Haven market. I like the chicken katsu here. The katsu is always a big size. You definitely get bang for your buck. I can separate one order for two meals. I also like the sauces for the katsu and for the salad. Both sauces are good. kz mori will be added to my dinner rotation. The service is good and fast. The Chicken Katsu Curry is one of the best I've had. The portions are very generous as well. I'm a fan of Japanese curry and had to try their's. Let's start with the chicken. You get 3 thinly sliced chicken breasts, breaded with panko, golden brown and crispy yet still tender. You get a generous amount of thinly sliced cabbage with a sesame dressing, which pairs well with the rest of the meal. Rice, of course. And you get a small cup of miso soup, which wasn't necessarily needed, but still good. But the best thing was the curry sauce. I could literally eat just that over some rice. It was flavorful, the consistency wasn't too thin or too thick. There was a little bit of heat, which I loved. Service was quick even though there were a lot of people ordering from here. My boyfriend & have enjoyed all the places we tried at Haven City, but I will have to say that for the price you pay here, you get more than enough food! We got the Pork Curry and it came with rice, salad, & miso soup. The katsu was delicious and it comes with so much sauce. I do wish there were vegetables in the curry, but it was still good. read more

Chicken Katsu is one of my favorite meals and Kz Mori offers a thin, crispy, and juicy chicken Katsu bedded on cabbage slaw. The katsu sauce is a great punch of flavor, but so is the sriracha mayo. The side of pickled radish is a refreshing addition. I don't usually have udon often, but after a long night of drinking... this was a great hangover cure. The warm broth was extremely comforting and it was loaded with fish cakes. Honestly, the service was just a little longer than I had anticipated since there was only 1 order ahead of me. I liked that they give you a number buzzer though so you can just walk around and look at what else is around the hall or look for seating. read more

Kz Mori is located inside the Haven City Market in West Covina. The workers are nice and were patient as we placed our order. The menu has so many yummy options! I ended up getting the pork katsu curry plate. It came with rice, salad, a side of curry, and some sauces. The meat was tender and the panko breading had a nice crunch. The curry was flavorful and tasted so good over the rice. I've got my eye on the cheese katsu for my next visit. The food took almost 30 minutes to come out so expect a bit of a wait since they are pretty busy. Parking has gotten difficult since the Haven City market opened so I would recommend going before or after the lunch and dinner rush. Happy eating! read more

I came here to the Haven City Market mainly to try this place. It's one of the more popular restaurants in the food court. Menu is not large, most of the items are katsu, I chose their most popular item, Katsu mix ($19.99), which is curry katsu, beef katsu, and pork katsu with a scoop of rice, cabbage salad, and a small side of miso soup. They give a large scoop of white rice and the cabbage salad with the sesame-based dressing was crispy and the dressing was not watery. The various katsu went well with the katsu sauce, they give a good size for all the katsu. The katsu was crispy and hot. Breading was not too thick and the meat was still juicy inside without it drying out. The wait time was not long, they give a pager that will alert you once your order is done. A little pricey but it is a lot of food. Total came out to be $30. It comes with a lot of sauce so I appreciate that! The miso soup was so strong you could probably add hot water and turn it into two servings. The katsu itself was good. Not too oily but without the sauce it lacks flavor. Overall, this food court is surrounded by many other options with many food/cultural fusion selections. The services should I say "rushed" due to crowded conditions and impatient hungry folks...the whole place feels like the good old days of a mall food court! Yet better food quality compared to mall. I do enjoy the udon chicken katsu. Tasty and good portions. read more

They served at me raw katsu. I've religiously gone to the Kazu Mori in Arcadia/San Marino H-Mart location for the past 4 years and this has never happened until visiting this West Covina location inside HavenCity Food Hall. What a nightmare. Got the combo Chicken/Pork Katsu plate. My gf bit into the first Katsu piece and was alarmed when she saw translucent pink in the middle. Look at photos for reference I almost threw up. Brought the plate to the front counter, the lady told the chef to come out front to check, he said it was fine and it's how porkloins are and turned me away. I brought it back to the table and we just stared at the plate for 5 minutes. Had some of the rice, finished the miso soup and then the cabbage. We just sat there in disbelief looking at the untouched katsu, never had this experience at the H Mart and I've gone there almost every month until this past month. I had to move to West Covina to take care of my aging parents and thought at least I didn't have to lose out or compromise my routines. Went back to the counter and tried to get a refund. Stood there for 10 minutes waiting for the cashier to help with the refund. Chef walked by and gave me a look, sorry I didn't want food poisoning. In the end I got the refund in cash, she couldn't find my apple pay transaction at all, I showed her the transaction screen and typed my name out for her too trying to help. Apparently there was a dinner rush and the system didn't register it??? I don't recommend this location, if you want true KZ Mori experience, make the drive to the one in Arcadia/San Marino H-Mart food court. read more
