I needed to moved in short order at the end of May 2017 from Hoboken to Weehawken, and needed to find a reputable Mover. I starting asking for recommendations for an honest and professional Mover. Several people including other local moving companies, already booked, strongly recommended Doug Ploth (the owner) at L&L Moving. I called on Friday and he was very busy, but agreed to come over Monday first thing to give me an estimate. Doug arrived right on time, he was very professional and provided me a detailed written estimated cost range and move date. I was extremely pleased with the estimate as I thought that it was an honest assessment. I agreed and signed the estimate. His crew of 4 professional and experienced movers , Brian, Eddie, Dan, and Mike, arrived a few days later as promised, surveyed the rooms, and immediately began moving everything at a quick pace. The crew worked extremely well with the new highrise building's management team and got me moved into the 3rd floor apartment in record time insuring no damage to the elevator or flooring. They were very friendly, fun, and really enjoyed working as a team to provide me a great move! The move was completed with no issues, and the final cost was on the low side of the estimate because they are professionals and knew what needed to be done. These guys moved us late October and they were awesome from the word go!!! We moved from a spacious 2000sq ft wide open one floor apartment to a VERY narrow two story home! And how they got all my things into this house without a bump, scratch, ding, dent or scuff is beyond me. Doug who first answered my call was polite, professional and also has a great sense of humor, set the estimate appointment at a time that was best for me. The guy Shawn who did the estimate was fast, friendly, and gave a very reasonable quote. ( ladies I was alone with my newborn and I was totally comfortable with him in my home). The four men that showed up moving day Ed, Brian, Sam and JP where fantastic!!! They busted their butts and got the job done on time at the quoted price and they did so flawlessly! They were professional, polite, placed everything where we'd asked, never a complaint, or a grown to be heard! And the best part they were fun too! As stressful as moving is- they eased the pain. We tried to feed them to let them relax a second but they kept going taking a bite, moving a box, bite, box, bite, box... Awesome!!!! All in all they are a GREAT company, with awesome employees. We could not have been more pleased with our son's move. He was moving from a tiny apartment in Hoboken to a larger one in Weehawken so we needed L & L to pick up the contents of his old bedroom and assorted other items in our suburban home, then travel to Hoboken to pick up contents of his apartment and then on to Weehawken. Brian, Sam and Eddie were so polite, efficient and professional. The final bill was under the quoted amount and we were so impressed with the service. Doug was extremely patient as the items being moved kept changing (i.e. - do we move the Hoboken mattress and where do we move it to?) Doug was able to accommodate us on short notice as our son was convinced that he could make the move himself with a U-Haul. After yesterday's experience he said he would not even consider a self-move again and would definitely call L & L. The men really know Hoboken and how to negotiate tight hallways and staircases. There is a reason why they have stood the test of time and been around since 1945. We give them our highest recommendation. Having moved several times ourselves we learned the value of using a local professional mover as opposed to one of the national mega-movers. Local professionals beat out those big names every time. We had a scheduling mishap with another mover and that mover called L&L to come to our aid. They certainly did. On short notice they showed up with five movers ready to go. They were all professional but also just good guys to talk to during the move (we had to wait at our second location for an abandoned car to be towed that was blocking our entrance). They really wanted to be sure we were happy and that things were set up as needed. They were happy to assist me in assembling some furniture which would have been a little unwieldily on my own. A couple times I said "you don't need to do that" when I felt they were taking care of something above and beyond and they always responded that they were there to please. I've read a few other reviews and having had a lot of moving experiences with various companies (we move every couple years) I just want to point out that if you have narrow stair cases or difficult to maneuver areas, a small scuff is hard to avoid. My belief is that no one can guarantee absolutely no marks, but from what I've seen of L&L they work to do the best that is possible. That said, I didn't notice a single mark on any of our things (the guys padded everything). We really enjoyed our experience and plan on calling Doug for the next move. read more

Working with L&L was definitely one of the more stressful moving experiences I've had. I was told the move would start between 10-10:30am. The crew showed up at 8:45am, with no call or warning ahead of time, and were then annoyed that I wasn't immediately ready to go. They tossed my sheets and bedding on the floor and completely ignored me when I asked them to give me a minute to get organized. I was still in my pajamas! I did book last minute, but there was absolutely no need for them to treat me disrespectfully. They also brought an extra man than they said they would, which made the move substantially more expensive. It seemed like they couldn't wait to get to their next job, and so they rushed mine. Their flat rate starts at a minimum of 4 hours, and they finished my move in 2.5, adding a lot of unnecessary pressure for me to hurry along the way. They gave me grief for packing up the contents of my fridge the day of the move- I wasn't going to leave it out in boxes overnight! Then they took off from the apartment I was moving out of without even giving us a heads up. The guy who was sort of in charge, Mike D, was the worst. He became very confrontational and rude with my friend who was helping me move. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Moved from Hoboken to Woodbridge, NJ earlier this week. L & L had rescued me 5 years ago when I moved apartments within Hoboken and my original movers were a no-show. I saved their business card for the inevitable day that I would be moving again. From the get-go they were very quick to respond to my inquiries, set me up with a scheduled in-person estimate and constantly called to confirm my move date and time. I was at ease the entire time leading up to the move that they wouldn't leave me in limbo. Very legitimate. Follows all NJ regulations (provides in-person written estimate, licensing number made available on their website, able to provide Certificate of Insurance upon request, etc). On move day they arrived early to get going. Was quoted for 4 guys and a truck, 5 showed up which increased my hourly rate but we were finished earlier so it was a wash. Everything was handled with care and covered/cushioned when called for it. At my new destination (a three level townhouse) they were unloaded in an hour, and even hoisted a once-piece dining room table through a balcony! Actual price was close to the estimate. Very professional. Very efficient. A great group of guys that'll get it done. read more

Definitely recommend L&L to anyone who is moving. We just moved this past weekend (Jersey City to another place in Jersey City) and this was the first time we've used movers. After the outstanding service they provided, we will never be able to go back to moving ourselves nor will we chance using any other mover. I chose L&L partly based on the reviews I've read here and now I see why they are so highly recommended. We had a lot of stuff and our new place has very narrow hallways so we were a little worried if we'd be able to get everything in. The team quickly solved any logistical issues and were great guys, true professionals! They arrived exactly the time Doug, the owner, said they would and also completed the job in an hour less than the estimate. Doug was always available by phone immediately anytime I had a question, is extremely knowledgeable, and followed up with me multiple times before and during the move just to make sure everything was going OK. Follow up to: Today is Wednesday....... Doug and his movers came RIGHT ON TIME for our move in Hoboken on Black Friday. We called Doug on Wednesday morning (yes, two days before the move) and he was accommodating and helpful. He answered my call at 6AM and was prompt in both his call back and his quote for the move; assuring me that he would fit us in and the movers would be there before 11:00AM. He made some changes to his actual planned schedule for Friday so he could fit us in between moves. Just as planned: The movers came right on time (calling first to tell us they were on their way) and arriving to unload our UHaul in record time. I have used L&L for 3 moves now and each one went as smooth as possible. Each move, the team arrived right on time, and was extremely friendly. Each crew member introduced themselves with a handshake to myself and any family member that were helping me out. They are EXTREMELY fast and accommodating. My last move was from Hoboken to Manhattan and they added on my roommate who was moving from the upper west side to midtown to the move order. My stuff was in by 11am and his by 1pm. That's TWO moves with city traffic done by 1pm, incredible!!! I've found they're usually accurate with their time estimates if you give them a idea of all the items you're bringing, and usually they finish under the estimated time if anything. They will also help breakdown and put back together bed frames if you ask them to which is a huge time saver. I recommend them to everyone I know and its reassuring to know I have a reliable moving company whenever my next move may be. read more

L&L saved me when no other moving company was available. They squeezed me in on one of their busiest days this summer and they were rock stars! The 3 men that moved me from one apartment to another walked in, said "everything go?", and literally took everything out, placed it on the truck, and brought it to my next residence. They even took my umbrella & gift wrap that was out for me to put in my car! You could tell they were masters at their craft. Moving everything seamlessly. Everything arrived safely and unscathed at my new place. They set everything up where I wanted it and always with a big smile on their faces. Their customer service was great. Oh and they did it in under 2 hours - which was major to me because I wanted to move as quickly as possible since I had plans later in the day. These guys are the best! I have used them twice and have been very happy both times. I will also be using them next time I move as well. Doug, the manager is great. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. They will come before your move to give you a quote and if you decide to use them, they will call to confirm the day before the move and are always on time/early. They are very quick in packing and unpacking your belongings! Which is great because you pay by the hour. Even though they are quick, they still handle everything with a lot of care and professionalism. I have some big furniture pieces that they were able to deal with and fit in and out of buildings without damaging anything even the slightest bit. I have heard stories of movers taking their time,being lazy, and taking long breaks, but these guys are NOTHING like that. They are very accommodating and overall make moving a lot less stressful. My husband and I recently ordered two bed frames we figured we would have no problem moving upstairs and assembling. Once FedEx dragged all of the boxes just inside our front door, we realized we were in over our heads and that we needed professional help. I called Doug thinking he could send a few of his guys at the end of a day, but Doug himself came almost immediately to help me out. He brought the handful of heavy boxes up our steep stairs, assembled the frames, and took all the empty cartons outside. I am so relieved to have everything taken care of so quickly, especially since we have guests coming soon for the holidays. I Highly Recommend L&L Moving! I am so happy that I can't say enough about how professional and understanding Doug and his crew were to me. Before I moved, Doug came to my apartment and gave me an estimate, which was reasonable and the final cost, believe it or not, was under the number he had estimated originally. There was only one mishap and that was on my part. I had forgotten to empty out my triple dresser and even with that extra weight added, his crew still managed to get my dresser out with ease. I also had several glass tables and through it all, nothing was damaged. The move was so well orchestrated and his crew were very professional. Have used L&L twice now and cannot say enough good things about them. The first move was within Hoboken, but we needed to store our belongings in the moving truck overnight with the strange timing of our lease ending and our new one starting and they stored everything safe and sound and the actual time spent moving in & out was a breeze, even with a 2nd floor walkup! The second move was from an apt in NYC back to Hoboken and they got everything packed up in no time. They were familiar with the "rules" of our new apt complex and made the moving process so easy (once again). They are efficient, but friendly, and always ensure someone is with the truck outside. They are careful with your belongings, but also move quickly. We are moving again soon and plan on using L&L for a 3rd time - they are great! read more

I literally cannot say enough great things about Doug and his team. We moved out of a high rise building in Hoboken with many restrictions (COI required, having to reserve elevators, etc). They were punctual - even arrived an hour early to assess what we had. Came back an hour later with 6 men in tow and they got us out of our apartment and into storage in 3 hours. We weren't sure the contents of our apartment would fit into the storage unit we reserved and they did everything possible to make it work out. The guys were very courteous, respectful of our property as well as the buildings hallways, elevators, etc. Moving can be incredibly stressful and the team did everything possible to calm my nerves and tell me everything would be ok. This is my second time using L&L, and I highly recommend them to anyone in or around Hoboken. My crew of Doug, John, Danny, Brian and Excel were nothing short of wonderful. Incredibly experienced, efficient and entertaining. I was moving from a 4 floor walkup to a 5 floor walkup and they lugged everything down, and back up for me safely and efficiently. L & L did a great job with my last minute move today! I contacted Doug over the weekend after purchasing a new couch and he was able to quickly book an appointment first thing Monday morning. The two gentlemen that picked up the couch and dropped it off were speedy and professional. An extra item was added to the pick up last minute , but the gentlemen were able to accommodate the request for an additional cost. What I liked most about the service was the straight forwardness. I did not feel like I was being charged a ridiculous amount of money for a relatively small task. It appears to be a business run by family, which I very much enjoyed! This past weekend L&L movers rescued me from a complete nightmare. After another unlicensed, uninsured "moving company" tried to rip me off and left me with standing on the street with all my belongings, Sammy, Mike and Joe were my knights in shining armor. They offered to do the move for me, completely last minute, cheaper than their regular price because they felt so bad about my situation. They moved all my things in under three hours. They were patient and kind, they were careful with my things, they were professional and very respectful, and they were a lot of fun to work with.
