I've been here about 3 times already and I can say I love the ambiance and vibe here. They're very accommodating and always have great music. Food is a solid 8/10. Their dessert... I'd have to give a 9/10. I'm also a hardcore critic so for me to give and 8 and 9 is saying a lot. What a cool hidden spot to visit for some smooth music and really good food! So the little backdrop to this adventure came with wife and son who apparently had no idea that everywhere on Christmas Eve's Eve would take a couple hours to eat at the Americana so get me the hell out of this place decided to wander across the street away from the city zombies and see what is available at worst case okay there is a Shake Shack we know that. There were a couple hidden gems on the left side of the street one was a Mediterranean Kebab place that looked inviting. One was a barbecue place that was completely empty and sandwiched in between is this take the stairs down to the underground jazz place and restaurant. Was very pleasantly surprised it's a very hidden but apparently well-known place because people were flocking in around 9:00 even though it was relatively still empty I'm sure the party starts way past my bedtime. Son ate an alfredo seafood pasta and loved it, me and the wife splitter arugula and prosciutto Pizza which was very good tasted wood fired it was. Service was very pleasant very nice place to have a New Year's Eve party or a birthday. Nice retro feel and again surprisingly pretty darn good food got out of there for 70 bucks feeding three people even though one meal was shared it was more than enough for us. The food, the place, and entertainment were great. The service was not so great. We had to wait a long time to order anything. Then, we finally ordered an appetizer and an entree. We had asked to have the appetizer first, but they brought everything at once, so by the time we got to the entrée, it was almost cold. We were never even asked if we wanted anything else. We were celebrating a birthday and would have ordered dessert and coffee, but the waiter never came around and we had a hard time getting his attention, so we just paid the bill and left. read more

Today was one of our usual visits to L'avenue. The food is impeccable as always... fresh and tasty. The atmosphere and the musicians were also great (Ere1yan 3ko). And I was most impressed with my server Ani. She did a very great job at assisting my table. She was very attentive and fast with the food or if we had a question she would come over pretty fast. My boyfriend, sister and I went to L'Avenue last night to enjoy the live music which was great while the service was not. It took quite some time to have a server come to our table even though there were only a couple tables with people sat in the restaurant at the time so not busy at all. We were up-charged for the bottle of water we received even though we just wanted regular water. Prices are on the higher side as well. After our server brought our water and bottle of wine, she never returned to see if we wanted to order anything else. Also it took over an hour to receive the check (that we had to ask for) which had extra fees that weren't disclosed like a 18% gratuity charge which I have never had charged before for a party that was so small. Very nice, casual ambiance with a touch of sophistication. I've visited twice and enjoyed every food item I've ordered. (I always recommend checking the menu before you visit any restaurant.) So far my favorite items have been the prosciutto with melon appetizer, and the beet salad. Things are run very well for such a new restaurant, and they are willing to rectify any issues which is not uncommon but they are also willing to listen to suggestions. I usually don't leave reviews. But today I felt I had to warn everyone about this place. I Haven't been in Glendale for a long time. Went to my old spot "the underdog" and sadly it wasn't there anymore. I asked the bouncer what happened and he said the underdog closed down. That it's a great place and we are going to have a great time. Right before I entered he ask for my name and made a Islamophobic remark. "Just to let you know, we don't allow terrorist here." I took it as a joke but still it would be funny if I returned the favor to his ethnicity. Once we sat down we ordered drinks. It took way too long for our glasses of beer. So we told the waitress we wanted to cancel the order. She replied that it will be a bit. Once we got the drinks we asked for the bill, We wanted to leave. Then she came back with a bull**** excuse that we had to get a 2 drink minimum because it was comedy night. No where and no one told us we had to buy 2 drinks. I felt like they were ripping us off. The waiter kept telling us "we only work here, it's our boss who said you have to buy two drinks" I wanted to just leave but didn't want to make a scene. So we got the two drinks and left. I will never go to this place ever again and I will let all my friend know that this place likes ripping people off. It's soo disgusting and sad. The owner should be shameful and embarrassed. And also not be a coward and send your minions to talk to me. read more

The key to customer service is professional ethics, which the manager (Johnny) at this place lacks. When we choose a place for outing, we look for great food, good customer service and amazing vibes. Well, this place did not meet our expectations. Hence, the fact we asked for our check as we no longer wanted to stay at the restaurant, it took the waiter and the manager 40 minutes to close our tab and bring the check. When my friend approached the manager to inquire about the tab and why it was taking so long to process, the manager VERY rudely and with an attitude responded back with "You are not the only one, you need to wait". So waiting for 40 minutes was not sufficient enough we needed to wait longer??? Exquisite customer service that was! Not to mention they had added items to our check which did not belong to us, and instead of being apologetic and sincere as we wait for the check, we got the most disgusting response. This place and the management needs to work on their customer service and how to keep the customers content. I would not return to this place and will not recommend it to anyone! read more

If I could give no stars I would. This needs to be said. A few weeks ago I ordered some late night food online after a long day of moving. This place had good reviews online so we gave it a try. We stop by the restaurant to pick up the food; I see my food sitting cold on the bar counter. No big deal, I give the waiter my name and wait for him to confirm my order. The waiter goes to the back, and then that's when the owner (John) comes up to me and asks for my information again. I give him my name, the order number, and show him a screenshot of the order. He doesn't seem to believe me for some reason even as I'm showing him my order confirmation. After a few minutes of confusing back and forth, I tell him I'm taking my food and leaving. The owner John then decides it's okay to GRAB ME to stop me from leaving. I couldn't believe this man, let alone the owner of this restaurant, was so comfortable with just grabbing a customer (a new, paying customer) and accusing them of stealing? After scolding him in front of everyone, he then tries to backpedal and say he never touched me, even though there are cameras right above us. In between denying the physical abuse he admits it. I leave in a rage and end up calling the police and put in a report. I've NEVER experienced something like this before. Im sure if this is how he treats a new customer, this wasn't the first or last time. Please don't go here for your own safety. read more
