I gave 2 stars for the nice staff that gave us a nice game recommendation towards the end of our time there but that's about it. I cannot believe they don't serve hot food starting around 8:15pm and they close at 11pm. They only have cold items like hummus and veggies and sweets. And apparently, no outside food. This is the gold standard for board game cafes!! The ones in NYC may charge less for unlimited time, but there you're paying for a bunch of beat up games and clueless staff. This is definitely not the case at the Main Street Board Game Cafe! The $15 entrance fee makes perfect sense to me... as they have a great variety of games in surprisingly immaculate condition, and very knowledgeable staff that are happy to explain how all of the games are played. The staff are really what set this cafe apart from others like it. Learning the rules from an expert is what makes complicated strategy based games less scary and more fun!! Everything is also very clean and well maintained, and the food is tasty. Definitely not the fanciest or most complex stuff on the menu, but who's coming here for the food anyway? They make a yummy grilled cheese, and some really good strong espresso based drinks. They have a great selection of teas from the clipper ship tea company as well. read more

My SO and I came here for another date night a little while ago, and this is such a great spot for something a little unique. If you haven't been to a board game cafe, this concept is so much fun. You pay to rent a table for a few hours. During that time you have unlimited access to a stash of board games that you can try out. Why do I love this so much? First of all, this place is a lot of fun. It's great for a group or a date night too. The games have every variety possible, so there is something that will definitely pique your interest. The best part is that the staff are very knowledgeable, and have great recommendations. One of my favorite ones to play was Stolen Paintings. I have to get this board game for another time. Plus, because they do such a great job explaining it, the learning time is not that long. Also, the cafe is great for light snacks. The nachos were absolutely delicious and they do have a few other options too! Parking is tough right in front of this cafe. Food was absolutely terrible ! Asked for a coffee to go and the guy couldn't comprehend a simple coffee w just half and half . He moved at a pace of turtle going backwards. Horrible horrible service. When putting on kid to coffee his probably filthy hands touched every part of the lid where i would have to them drink out of ! Went today with the wife, as we had been given a gift card. We do enjoy board games but really just stopped by for a quick bite. The food and service was good to snack on, though it's all pre made and just warmed up, we enjoyed it. We ordered chicken fingers and fries. My wife also got a mint chocolate milkshake which was very good. Nice staff, lots of games to select. Cool little store. Municipal parking was atrocious, but that's not the store's fault at all. I'm a bit conflicted with my review. Because on one hand, as a gaming area, this place is wonderful! You walk in and the walls are lined with games galore, even gaming items you can purchase (Pokemon cards, dice, etc.). My friends and I were a bit overwhelmed by what game to choose, but the staff is wonderful enough to choose a game they think you'll enjoy and walk you through the basics! The reason I docked two stars is because the cafe portion was...not so wonderful. They have a variety of options to choose from and they all look delicious. But it definitely took a while for some of our food items to get to our table. We asked a glass of water, and that took even longer than the food to get to our table. I had a cheesecake that was truly solid and tasted warm and stale at the same time. The pretzel was lukewarm, my friends weren't too thrilled with the cakes they chose either. I understand, that coming here, your main focus isn't the food, its the games. And the games were such a fun experience! But if my food experience had been just a tad better, I think I would've loved all aspects of this place. I booked a table for 3 hours for my husband, sister, brother in-law, nephew, and I. $15 per person for a 3-hour time slot is extremely worth it. There is such a huge selection of games and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up just picking out whatever game interested us but some tables around us had the staff curate games. I saw the reviews on food so we ate at Hatch before but it seemed like perfect snack meals for board games. It was a rainy Saturday which further created a cozy ambiance. My only complaint is that there is nothing like this closer to me but it is worth the 40 minute drive and I plan to come again for a date night. read more

This place is super cute for a date or outing with friends. They have tons of games to choose from, and the selection is good with lots of variety. The decor and atmosphere is also really nice and the tables are comfortable. My only issue is, the food isn't that great. We ordered a few things off the menu and it seemed like it was just reheated frozen food. This place could be phenomenal if they stepped up their food game and offered fresh, "real" food. Absolutely loved this place! Went here on a Friday night , it was 4 of us. I saw lots of reviews that spoke about how bad the food was and that was the expectation we went with. We didn't go there intending to eat but we went there to play games. My favourite part about this place is that they ask you what kind of games you're looking for , based on that suggest a game and then explain the game to you. We had Greg helping us , he was amazing amazing amazing at his job. His passion and patience to teach was incredible, his knowledge of games and his suggestions were great. He introduced us to Coup which we are all now obsessed with. Would definitely come back here and especially play all the games that Greg recommends. read more

This is truly the warmest and most welcoming spot in the village. Upon entry you are treated with the friendly smiles and kind greetings of the staff or owner. The walls lined with a myriad of boardgames fill your mind with endless possibilities. So many choices would seem daunting to the average joe, but the staff are ready and excited to answer questions and teach new games. Sitting down for a board games session at this spot is like going to an old friends house. Your options are boundless. Deck building games, strategy, role playing, they have it all. This is a great place to come for both big groups of friends or romantic dates. My only recommendation would be to have a spot dedicated to beginner level games that are a bit more obscure. They have the classics, connect 4, jenga, etc, but I would love to see more entry level games being used by the date night crowd that tends to play it safe with the run of the mill games. As for the food, well, you wouldn't expect a hot dog from the movie theater to knock your socks off, would you? Overall, this is a great place to hang out with friends and loved ones. We came on a night after having dinner. We passed by this spot on the walk to our car and thought it was pretty interesting. The pricing itself wasn't bad, $15/3 hours per adult; they also have drinks and sweets so it's a pretty chill spot. The reason why I'm giving this 2 stars was for a couple reasons: - It took almost half an hour for our drinks. We all ordered tea and it took forever for it. So I assume they had to boil the water when we ordered which made it take that long lol - They were CLOSING an hour after we walked in but didn't say anything and charged us the full 3 hours. They should've said it upfront when we walked in they're closing in an hour and ask if we're ok with that. Or should've adjusted the cost since there were 4 of us. Which makes sense why our tea took so long to come to us - probably was cleaning up until we walked in. I get it they're probably struggling for business because of COVID but that's just bad business ethics. Those 2 reasons aside the place itself is alright. It was past 9PM so was empty. The bathroom was clean also and there's paper towels to use instead of just the blower (some bathrooms are only blowers). The board games aren't 100% accessible though. They have a whole wall of them but some are so high you gotta climb to get it so kinda wish they have a step stool on the side for it. There's also no organization for the games. They try to put signs on the categories but it's still a mess. Some big boxes are in front of small boxes and it's just a mess. read more

I love this place! I am a board game enthusiast so it's nice to have somewhere to go to learn new games and meet new people. The staff make it an incredible experience. We were there on a Saturday night so it was a little busy. We were trying to learn how to play catan and the owner saw us struggling and came over to teach us. I don't think we would have been able to understand it in such a short amount of time without his help. It is now one of our favorite games! He also introduced us to an app that decides who goes first. Another group was celebrating their birthday and they were nice enough to let us have some of their leftover cake! I'm so happy that this place exists!!! I've been there a few times now and it's been great. There's an entire wall of different games to choose from and the staff & owner are very knowledgeable and helpful with getting you started if you don't know how to play or if you have any questions throughout. My boyfriend especially loves this place because he plays a card game (MTG) and has always wanted to do tournaments and drafts for it, but no place existed nearby. This is perfect for him! The food is also very nice though I haven't tried much of it yet. Overall I am so glad this shop is doing well and I wish them much success! Can't wait to go back. This cafe is the cutest and definitely something that huntington village needed! Great for people who don't want to go to bars or looking for something to do on a casual night. I think it is great that they have a "game master" who teaches you how to play each game, especially for someone like me who does not play many board games. I was a little disappointed with our girls night out. This place had great reviews and was something different to do. The menu looked good so we order food. The food was terrible... I do not recommend. It's all frozen since they don't have an actual kitchen. Eat before you go! Or just go for dessert and coffee. That looked decent from some other tables that ordered. This place is amazing and this store is so nice too! I go here around every week to play Magic: The Gathering and sometimes to play D&D. Playing these games made me meet so many people (I've meat good friends playing Magic: The Gathering here). They also have a hole library of board games for people to play. The food and drinks here are good too. The staff here is amazing, nice (nice to adults and kids a like) and supper knowledgeable. The Magic: The Gathering events are run by Jason who is an amazing employ (he is supper knowledgeable about Magic: The gathering). The director of games and programs Didi is grate. The RPG coordinator Alan is great. The owner Neil is amazing and runs this place great. As a 13 year old kid I feel so welcome here. This place is amazing.
