I've been to L'Orange Café twice now. Today being the second time. For anyone who doesn't know. L'Orange Café used to be a Pandor Bakery. It has changed hands a few months ago and along with that, the name has changed as well. However, nearly 100% of the actual menu has remained exactly the same (Even the menu Pamphlet) except for some modifications to the way certain dishes are being prepared and presented. And I will get back to this in a minute and explain why a 3 star rating. Which by the way, is not meant to be used as a standard gauge for this restaurant but rather to share my experience on that day and to give the restaurant some feedback that they can use at their own discretion. So, to start with. The interior has recently been nicely refurnished and re-decorated in a way that truly complements this beautiful early 20th Century building. From the Ornate crown molding that line up the 12 ft high ceilings, to the modern yet timeless large chandeliers, the individual table lamps and the beautiful canvas wall art depicting Paris, France. The interior is now cozier and more inviting than ever. On a cool and cloudy day like today, with a warm Cup of Coffee and a Croissant at your table, or your favorite dish. And with Classic french songs playing in the background. You can easily be transported to Paris, France. The service has always been great and fairly quick and staff members always friendly. I have always liked their menu as it is varied and there is always something for everyone. Today i took my parents for brunch and the following was my experience. My Mother and i ordered the French Onion Soup, i also ordered the Chicken and Mushroom crêpe. My Father ordered an Omelette with mushrooms, bell pepper and onions. And for dessert we shared an Affogato with Nutella Gelato. When the food arrived, everything looked delicious and well presented. My Father was really happy with his Omelette. And here is what went wrong. The Onion soup, which is one of my all time favorites is an item that has definitely been modified from the original version and was very disappointing. The Soup was served barely warm, It was fairly watered down leaving almost no flavor. It was served with a piece of flat bread on the side covered with melted cheese. The taste of which i did not recognize. There were 2 twigs of what looked like fresh thyme used for flavoring and that were left in the soup. I removed both of them but i ended up choking on a small piece that i could not see. So that was a bust. My Mother ended up eating the cheese covered flat bread and left 3/4 of her soup. Please bring back the traditional version which is served with large croutons inside the soup and the melted Gruyere Cheese oozing over the edge of the bowl. And please no herb twigs inside the soup. Big hazard!!! That's why i gave a 3 Star rating. Also. The chicken and mushroom crêpe. Unlike what i was used to, the crêpe was under cooked, the Chicken was dry because there was barely any béchamel sauce. When you cut the crêpe, the béchamel is supposed to ooze out. This one was dry. That was also very disappointing. The saving grace was the affogato with Nutella Gelato. This combination was Absolutely delicious! It was served in a tall dessert glass. It was topped with a piece of something crunchy and delicious that i could not figure out. It was also topped with whipped cream and It had small pieces of thin chocolate bark on the bottom. The slowly melting Nutella Gelato in the hot espresso tasted like sweet heaven. That was a definite hit!!! To L'Orange Café: I'm routing for you and I'll be back hoping to see some improvement to the items mentioned above. read more

Breakfast for two (2) was $41 (1 Lebanese breakfast + 1 breakfast of eggs, sausage + coffee + 1 bottled sparkling water). Then I added a $5 dollar tip @ the register when ordering. Total $46. Went to our table and our breakfast was delivered, and we asked for hot sauce and a glass of water, and the waiter pointed to where it was in the back and we had to get up and go get it ourselves. Their baked goods looked excellent; however, everything was, IMO, very expensive. I'm sure they have to cover high operating costs due to downtown Orange, CA location/rent, food expense and staff and still make a profit, but I won't be going back. Suggestion: 1) don't leave a tip when you have to walk up to the register, order for yourself and then there's no further service other than delivery of the food to your table. No one came to offer a refill or warm up on the coffee order to check and see if we needed anything else. We came at a time when it was not super crowded around 10 AM and we were there just a little over an hour. 2) there was some loud street noise from vehicular traffic when we were trying to have a brief meeting towards the front, open-air area of the restaurant. 3) we could not, no matter how many attempts, connect to the Wi-Fi for some reason and we're actually unable to complete a few brief tasks online. We even asked for help to make sure we were logging onto the correct Wi-Fi. And still no connection. read more

Their breakfast was delicious, the place is aesthetically pleasing, and the service was fantastic. My pastries were divine, and the coffee was just right. I'll definitely be returning. I keep recommending this spot to everyone, but honestly, I don't even have to--everyone I tell ends up agreeing with me. I like the remodel (or rebranding?) of this place. It's a cute little cafe in downtown orange that serves sandwiches, crepes, salads, gelato, and coffee drinks. I tried the bacon & egg sandwich and really enjoyed it. The egg and bacon were almost like an omelet but it worked well in the sandwich. The side salad was the only disappointment as it was just a bed of arugula with a sliced tomato on top. I don't think I'd get that side again. Other than that, I enjoyed my meal. read more

I had an amazing experience visiting L'Orange Cafè today! As we arrived we were welcomed by the sweet manager Oscar who ensured we tried the best on the menu. Was thoroughly impressed by the food options from sweet to savory as well as the delicious coffee. Our favorite was the salmon benedict! I visited with my adult daughter and two kids on Monday around 9am. It seemed they were short-staffed, as the food arrived very slowly. It took 30 mins to get our entire order- we were serve one item at the time. My latte came first, and it was lukewarm. Then my sweet crepe arrived cold. About 10 minutes later, my daughter's savory crepe came out--this item was good-warm and very tastie. Another 15 minutes passed before the standard breakfast (over-easy eggs, bacon, and potatoes) arrived; the eggs were overcooke and the potatoes were cold. Arrived at 6:20 p.m. and saw multiple guests still inside. As I walked in, an employee told me they were closed. When I pointed out that the posted closing time is 7:00 p.m., I was told that they "sometimes close early." That is not acceptable and shows a complete lack of professionalism and respect for customers. If a business chooses to close early, it should update its hours accordingly. Low star is due to service. Waited 10 minutes for a take away latte. The barista decided it was her job to answer all calls even though the cashier was free and there were ni costumers waiting to be helped. Said barista also decided it was imperative to take in signs from outside instead of making coffee. Also all coffee orders were made in order. Which u understand. But if someone is waiting for q to go coffee, it would make the most sense to get that person on the way and then get back to the people who are sitting and enjoying their morning. Three orders went out until I asked if there was a to go latte. At which point and in the middle of making 2 other orders she quickly and swiftly made mine before going back to the other 2 half made cups. A little incitive would go a long way. L'Orange Cafe is now one of my favorite spots to have brunch at the circle in Orange. I have been here a couple times already and love several things about this cafe. First of all, the cafe itself is stunning. They have beautiful flowers outside and a lot of colorful paintings displayed inside. Besides that, their furniture, ceiling and chandeliers are gorgeous. The food is also incredible. My favorite so far has been the Saumon Fumé which is their salmon eggs Benedict. Really delicious and it comes with a side salad or potatoes. I also recommend their iced cinnamon toast latte. Other than these options, their farmer's omelette is a good choice as well as their salmon salad. They also have fresh OJ! The restaurant has plenty of seating inside and outside as well. What could improve in my opinion is their customer service. They aren't rude, but they could be more welcoming/ friendlier. I also think it would be nice if they had more cocktail options. When I asked about this at the front, I was told that they only had mimosas. I do, however, appreciate that they have a wide variety of coffee and tea options. Overall, very lovely restaurant. The food was presented beautifully and it was delicious. read more

We used to come here when it was Pandor for evening wine. Went in tonight for the first time since the ownership change and ordered a glass of wine. Too bad it was pathetic. Waited a good 10 minutes to get the glass--only to have it poured in a champagne flute. I asked if they could transfer it to a wine glass. Then i got a good look at the pour. $12 for 5 ounces. House Chardonnay. Standard pour is 6 ounces. When I asked about it, the manager stepped in and pulled out a scale and told me I had a little over 5 ounces so I was lucky. I don't mind paying for wine--but don't take advantage of your customers. And pulling out a scale is TACKY! read more

So I have been coming here for about a week now for coffee and usually some poached eggs... The staff here are friendly and polite! Not to mention I feel like I'm in a French Café ... today I had the Lebanese breakfast and it was perfect! It comes with three eggs (I was surprised!) some labne (which is like a tart yogurt, not sweet) salad or potatoes (I opted for the salad) and some of their delicious baguette... thank goodness I walked there so I could walk off all that food! The eggs were poached to perfection and I also like their drip coffee... if I could offer any suggestion, it would be 1. If you're having your coffee for here to have some half-and-half in a little creamer. 2. Salt and pepper shakers although very cute. Don't quite do the job. Other than that, this place is definitely my spot for coffee... if it's pleasant outside, it's nice to sit at the tables out front, but it's also nice inside and the music isn't too loud... some French jazz would be nice? anyways, great job so far keep it up. This is my favorite study spot ever. I love their hot lavender matcha when i do my work, comes in a mug with the most beautiful orchid on top! They have outlets all around and wifi is reliable. The owner Oscar is super friendly and always greets me with a smile. 11/10. read more

The gelato here is delicious! The employee at the front let us sample a few, and I went with the mango/strawberry sorbet and the double chocolate hazelnut. It's a shame, this place used to have some decent croissants they made fresh. The rest of the food was sub-par but it was an ok spot. Today I went in ( I don't live here ) and asked for the chocolate almond croissant and they said they don't have it ( not to mention the cashier was a bit on the rude side but she had just seemed like she was upset with the last customer. Then proceeds to tell Me they don't have it since the new ownership... what bummer, it was one of the only things worth coming for. Met up with a friend for a nice relaxing lunch. We just happen to be walking past and thought we would give it a try. To begin with the atmosphere was great. We had a nice indoor window seat. Then Penny, our server, was awesome. He was attentive and friendly and professional. We had a hard time deciding on the menu as we really wanted one of everything. But settled on the Le Roast brioche sandwich and the Le Brie brioche sandwich. Both were amazing. We shared and we're both happy with both sandwiches.
