Finally was in the area and got a chance to try this spot. Place wasn't crowded, ordered my sandwich and it was ready in about 3 minutes. I tried Il Paradiso. The mortadella was silky, the bread soft and buttery. The stracciatella and pistachio kind of got lost behind the prominent flavor of the mortadella. Sandwich was huge and was basically two meals. Would come back to try other options! Update: came back and tried La Favolosa and added arugala. The bread is so fantastic and this sandwich was delicious.

I forgot exactly what I ordered but it was this truffle cream one with I think prosciutto? Anyways it was great. The focaccia was baked very well. We sat outside.

Amazing service! Junior was so kind and let us sample a few sauces before making our sandwiches. Bread is a focaccia and comes out warm! Super soft & fluffy! I was shocked by the amount of turkey that goes onto the sandwiches. You could honestly split one sandwich for two.

I had the La Summer with an added pesto spread. It was a perfect sandwich the bread was fresh and soft and it paired nicely with iced tea over ice. I think a pressed option in the future would be great.

This is one of my favorite sandwich spots in all of New York City! I always get the Paradiso! Today I got the Inferno! If you like spicy sandwich sandwiches this is the one for you!

After falling in love with Florence's sandwich culture on a past trip earlier this year, I finally made it to All'Antico Vinaio's in NYC, and so glad I did. Their service was great, the service folks were kind and patient, and the restaurant was kept very clean. My husband ordered the 'L'Inferno' (he added sun-dried tomatoes and removed the eggplant and zucchini) and I ordered the 'La Caprese,' and I added turkey with some truffle honey. Even though the Caprese is meant to be their vegetarian option (and I typically eat it as it comes), adding turkey this time is something I did not regret. The combo of mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, turkey, and truffle honey was just incredible. My husband enjoyed his modified version, his exact words were "10, out of, 10." I loved hearing that the ingredients are imported from Italy, and the schiacciata bread (a staple bread used in Florence for these sandwiches) is baked fresh daily. It's crispy on the outside, soft inside, and absolutely delicious! Tip: go hungry, because these sandwiches are on the larger side. Per ora, arrivederci!

Soooo many things to say! First off, I kept seeing Instagram reels of influencers / food bloggers posting about this $15 special at All'Antico Vinaio. I couldn't believe this deal of a glass of wine + a decently sized half sandwich. Second off, it's only a block away from my office. Needless to say I was sold!! I stopped in with my work bestie and got the La Paradiso (mortadella & pistachio) with the Sangiovese wine. It did not disappoint. The sandwiches are fresh and made to order right in front of you and you can choose your table. They even had an additional area for seating upstairs. They had trays of freshly baked bread just staring at me ready to eat haha I'll definitely be back again (even if this promo goes away). 10/10 recommend. Deliziosa!!

Came here on a Friday evening. Thought I'd try out the apperitivo deal - $15 for spritz and half a sandwich. Good meal - pretty legit sandwiches. I can understand why there are always lines during lunch. The paradiso sandwich that came with pistachio was pretty amazing. Would definitely come back here again. Ambience is very casual fyi and service was ok.

Finally got to try their famous sandwiches as this franchise has been on my list to check out. Came around 2pm and luckily there was no line and ordered the La paradiso for $18. The sandwich was huge and the bread was Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They also have a special going on right now, I can't wait to come back and try their other items on the menu!

All'Antico Vinaio is one of those rare spots that actually delivers on the hype. The sandwiches are huge, piled high, and full of flavor. The bread is perfection: crisp on the outside, soft inside, and strong enough to hold layers of meats and spreads without falling apart. I tried the La Favolosa with salami, pecorino cream, artichoke spread, and spicy eggplant. Every bite was bold and balanced. The Summer sandwich with prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato, and basil tasted like a Tuscan picnic. These are not grab-and-go snacks. They are meals that demand your full attention. The shop can be packed, but it is worth the wait. And here is the bonus: the best bathroom in New York City. Clean, roomy, and almost as memorable as the food. If you love sandwiches, this place is essential. Come hungry, split with a friend if you must, and enjoy one of the best bites Manhattan has to offer.

Great sandwich - the bread is fresh, crispy and chewy. This particular location has very little seating, but we were a close walk to a park which is not a problem. Because of the limited space, there is a queue to place your order and pay. It's on the pricier side, but personally one sandwich is enough for 2 people (or 2 meals).

The focaccia is the star of the show here! Fresh baked and warm -- good bread equates to half of a sandwich's appeal. Having tried the Florence outpost before all the locations opened up here in the city, it wasn't quite the same for me (although take that with a grain of salt). La Favolosa was my pick. Was it $20 good? Can't say yes. It ranks up there as a decent sandwich and it was a hefty one with spicy eggplant and all the fixings. But it didn't hit the spot for me -- it was too much of a hodgepodge when it really would've benefited from a focus on one major ingredient with an addition or two for balance and flavor. I imagine part of it for me was the curb appeal of experiencing a All'Antico Vinaio sandwich in Florence while looking at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo). Whereas here, I'm stuck in a line with people on phones, staring at the stacks of fresh baked focaccia, wondering if I can buy a big square and eat it dipped in olive oil.

There are so many locations of this sandwich shop in nyc now that there was no line when I walked in around lunch time on a Monday. It's been a long time since I first tried this place in Florence so I don't know how it compares. I vaguely remember thinking the sandwich was nicely stuffed in Florence but the sandwich I had here was a little skimpy on the meat. Other than that, the experience was great. The staff was nice and polite. The sandwich was tasty and the bread fantastic.

There are a few locations, but I decided to visit this one because it was the most convenient for getting to and from home. I got there around 7:00 PM, which felt a little close to closing time since Google said they close at 9:00 PM, but it wasn't busy at all. In fact, I was only the third customer to place an order. I ordered the La Summer sandwich and added pesto. After sitting down and taking my first bite, I immediately understood the hype. Without a doubt, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time. I'm not even a huge sandwich person when it comes to subs and deli meats, but everything tasted incredibly fresh. The ingredients paired together perfectly, and you could still taste each one individually. The only thing I'd change next time is the meat. I had no idea prosciutto was a type of ham, but honestly, it didn't even taste like ham to me. It was sliced paper-thin, slightly salty, and worked surprisingly well with everything else. Next time, though, I'll probably add salami just to see how it compares. Overall, this sandwich was a solid 10/10, and I will absolutely be back--whether it's to try a different sandwich or, if we're being honest, order the exact same one again with salami added. I will say it's on the expensive side, but that's New York City for you. Apparently, all of the ingredients are flown in from Italy. After tax and tip, I paid a whopping $28 for a single sandwich. That said, it was incredibly filling and definitely kept me satisfied. The workers were also really nice and accommodating, and the indoor seating was beautiful. The atmosphere felt like a fancy Italian café, complete with couches and artwork throughout the space. I wish I had taken pictures, but honestly, I was too busy enjoying what might be the best sandwich I've had in years.

Google their name and "best" and get hundreds of hits, but the majors who crowned them "best sandwich" title include Saveur Magazine, the big one touted by the family; Eater NY, ranking La Paradiso the most elite Italian sandwich outside of Italy; Las Vegas Weekly, who crowned them "Home of the world's best sandwiches"; TripAdvisor, for whom the Italian original is the most reviewed eatery with a near perfect rating; and The Infatuation NYC guides who promise the execution of the crispy, airy schiacciata bread completely justifies the hype. All 17 options looked amazing, so I spoke to a regular in line, telling her I couldn't decide between "La Paradiso", the most praised (even though she informed me "mortadella is just bolonie" or the Hot Italian, which was more my style. So, I did what any gluttonous American would do and I got both. And a Diet Coke, of course. La Paradiso has thinly sliced bolonie for a savory base, with creamy shredded stacciatella cheese, with sweet but earthy pistachio cream, and a sprinkle of toasted pistachio for texture (that I didn't detect). It was good, but I will likely fuggedaboutit. The Hot Italian had thin, lean turkey, spicy and smoky spreadable Calabrian pork sausage, a balancing provolone, calabrian chili honey, and peppery arugula (that they claim adds crunch that I didn't detect). Were they life-changing? No. But I rank Paradiso a 8.8 and Hot Italian a 10. And because everyone is hard-working and everything is so freshly prepared and cut, it's a class act. They should seriously make a sign that says, "Can't decide? Get two!" and then give me free sandwiches on my yearly trips for the idea.
