My family & I finally tried La Capital for the first time. It did not disappoint. The decor is El Día de los Muertos. They also have a few TV's playing different sports. Everything was very clean & inviting. I ordered the birria guacamole burger with fries. It was DELICIOUS! Handmade patty with fresh guacamole, birria & sautéed onions. I didn't even have room for fries because the burger was huge. My husband had the quesadilla bacon avocado burger with fries which was really tasty too. Our kids got the kids hot dog with fresh fruit (standard hot dog) & the kids bean, rice & cheese burrito with fresh fruit. They were happy with both. For dessert we got the homemade flan (so good & a nice size slice) & the deep fried cheesecake with ice cream (really yummy). The cafe is a bit hard to find but once you're there, the interior is colorful and welcoming. My server Gali was very warm and friendly, and my food came out super-fast! The Tacos Jalisco were piping hot, topped with grilled onion and cilantro with consomme, rice, and beans on the side. Fantastic flavors that really popped! I really love the decor. Dia de los muertos is the art theme and is very cool. The service is outstanding. Luz R is awesome. I had the Mar Y Tierra seafood combination. Mussels, shrimp, chicken, and chorizo mixed with peppers and onions on rice. The veggies, though cooked, were still a bit crunchy...perfect. The rice was cooked evenly. It was quite spicy but had flavor, not just burn. It came with toasted garlic bread as well. It was quite awesome overall. Mom had 2 eggs as they do all day breakfast. She gobbled those suckers down. She was quite pleased as well. We will be back. Protip: they are slow during the week during evening. We went on a Monday at 6pm and were the only customers there. We have been attempting to eat breakfast here for a year or so and finally were able to catch them on a day when they were actually open when they advertised they were. Service was good, food was served in a timely manner, but the food was just average. I had the Huevos Ranchero and could barely cut through the tortillas at the bottom. I mean barely. The hubby & I stopped in for lunch to energize before heading to the dreaded Home Depot. I wanted the share the Birria pizza-dilla, but he was not cooperative, even with the giant Sculpin beer! If you are coming from Reno this is very easy to find: get off the 580 freeway at College Parkway (exit 6) turn left on College and the restaurant is less than a mile up on the right. Take a right on Goni Rd and the parking lot is right there. We loved this place! I got something I have never heard of: birria pizzadilla which is a pizza-sized quesadilla which has amazing flavors. Lots of flavorful meat, cheese, grilled onions, guac and a couple of dipping sauces. Just yummy! Update: the dipping sauce which is referred to as a consommé in the menu is unbelievable! I did not try it at the restaurant but brought it home with me along with the leftovers and I don't know enough about cooking to know what is in it but it is great. Don't pass it up! I cannot believe I did not have my phone/camera with me so I have no pic. Too bad because it is a very impressive sight. The menu is broad which I love. Lots of choices. My only gripe is that the print on the menu is too small for my old lady eyes! Overall, nice place, good service, good food, and parking! I saw an ad for this restaurant on yelp and had it saved as a bookmark to try. It's tucked away in Carson city and does not look like a restaurant from the outside. Once inside, the decor gives it the authentic Mexican vibe which goes right along with their menu options! The green sauce on my chimichanga tasted homemade and not out of the can like some other places. We went on a Friday night and it was only my girlfriend and I in the restaurant which was kind of odd. While doing some errands my husband I decided to stop here for breakfast. Pretty spacious and fun decorations. Our waitress Jenny was super friendly and accommodating. My husband got the parrillada. A meat filled omelet. I got the steak and chilaquiles. We were both very happy and satisfied with our choices. The chilaquiles were cooked perfectly. It's like one of my favorite Mexican dishes so I was so happy to see it on the menu. My husband loved the flavor of his omelet and the potatoes were crisp and seasoned just right. My co worker told me about this place so we came here later in the day after work. The inside is spacious with large great painting in the middle of the restaurant. By the front door, they also have one nice small bar. We ordered carnitas and beef stew. The tortilla came warm and the tortilla cover was very nice touch so your tortilla will stay warm. Carnitas was good and wasn't dry. The beef stew was also very good sauce. The beef was very tender. Rice was pluffy and also had a good flavor. The habanero salsa wasn't that spicy, mostly had sour taste instead spicyness. Our waitress was Jennifer and she was very friendly and courtesy. She's not rude or whatsoever like the other yelper said. Second visit was also very nice waitress. Very attentive. Sorry didn't catch her name. The only thing that wasn't the same only the food. Wasn't spicy, just tangy. The tortilla was o my wrap in the aluminum foil and the texture was totally dry and not fresh. It was most like been reheat. No more tortilla warmer cover? I was quite disappointed because the food wasn't taste as good as my first visit. I was also wondering why don't they serve their customer chips and salsa before the food arrives? Well I guess because this place isn't just specialty for Mexican food. Their menu for Mexican food basically so limited.
